Sluis is a lovely town, with plenty shops, restaurants and wonderful scenery. The Dikke Van Dale is the best hotel in the area. No criticisms at all
We went to have dinner in restaurant Oud Sluis The breakfast was too simple
everything was comfortable and the staff very good
The breakfast was lovely. Check in was quick and easy. Lift available. Rooms were clean. Bathroom beautiful. Hotel has a nice bar and spa. The rooms were very small. We could not get the internet here, even though we asked the staff. They told us not at this time. Short changed twice in the bar.
A very nice building from the outside Very dusty, should have been cleaner.
everything was good not really, but could have had tea/coffee making facilities
Location Poor breakfast ,steep stairs, tired atmosphere
Large comfortable room and good position of the Hotel. The male receptionist was very helpful. Excellent parking facilities. On Saturday night there was a serious amount of noise from a dance band (So much we could not use the room) We raised the issue both verbally and in writing but have not had a reply after two weeks (the time they set themselves)
The location at edge of city was great, and Sluis itself a charming, engaging community. Breakfast was excellent. Tho room was spacious it had pedestrian design and the twin beds were a downer. Charging for use of Wi-fi was off-putting. Price was much too high for the quality of the lodging.
Impressive exterior facade, looks like a castle rooms look a bit outdated, too much carpet everywhere...
Friendly hotel in an excellent position on the seafront.
Very comfortable, great location
reception - view fitness room is ridiculous
TV didn't work. Too high tresholds at the bathroom. Dangerous!
Nice atmosfaire, freindly staff, good location, parking possibilities.
Good beachfront location, handy for town centre. Hotel was comfortable and staff efficient. cost of Wifi was extortionate - E10 for 1hr.
Buffet diner, fair prices for diner, location, excellent view over sea from the restaurant, broad selection for breakfast
Location right on the beach, andf an exceelent restaurant. Rooms are very comfortable and always clean with a well stocked mini-bar
The reception was poor and not friendly at all. seems the receptionist had a attitude problem.
We had 2 problems and they were clared in 5 minutes with out any problems or bad behaving from staff The entertainment life was very poor (saturday night)
New hotel with a particular design! I forgot something in the cabinet of my room, and after phoning, nobody even phoned me back to tell me if they found or not what I forgot!I definitely think that for a four star hotel it's more than cheap!!!!
Very friendly , confortable hotel with good selection of food.
We had the chance to be one of the first guests in the room, which added extra value to our stay. Everything was perfect, nice modern design... just the bathroom was an amazing experience! The breakfast buffet was rich and with a lot of choice. If any the location: in a newly built area close to a busy road (no noise disturbed us during the night) but still very close to the centre of Middelburg (10 minutes by bike).
Excellent location for day trips with the car. Good and modern design of lobby and rooms. Quality of breakfast not matching standards of other hotels in this price category. Fair comments difficult because hotel relatively new and not everything ready (e.g. internet facilities)
The rooms, very big and nice decorated. The location near by the center of Middelburg. Ideal location to cycle to other cities and villages. N/A
We liked breakfast time, beds were comfortable. Nobody to help with the luggage on check in. Strange smell of carpets in corridors and no service of food or drink after 11pm.
Comfortable hotel. Perfect location, very close to the beach. Good for people who have dogs and like to go walking in nature. Good for families with children. Good breakfast buffet. the room was a bit too warm during the night, even after turning the heating off.
Very comfortable surroundings and great staff.
The warm reception and the location, along with a good value. Breakfast was also excellent. Would prefer breakfast be available by 8
My wife and I liked its location and the food. We were upgraded to the first class room. It was very nice but nothing special. I wonder how does the standard room look like. We had half-board and the menu was very good. The stuff was very kind and helpful. We like the area, there is so many interesting things to see. We will certainly come back.
Rapport qualité / prix
Very close to the beach, confortable, All rooms have two beds and there is no double bed, which is not mentionned on the website. We booked a double, not a twin and got 2 beds. The staff at the reception was extremely friendly, apologized for that and really tried to find a solution.Although they could not find any, they really tried.
The location cannot be beat! Absolutely perfect. We were not able to show up until almost 1:00 A.M. and it was no problem. Breakfast was really good, even included sparkling wine. We checked out at 11:30 A.M. but we were allowed to park our car there all day so that was really nice! This really isn't something that the hotel could have control over ... we got in really late and we were very quiet going through the halls to not wake anyone. Unfortunately no one was quiet in the morning. From 7 A.M. on very loud families in and out right by our door. Forced us out of bed earlier than we would have liked but we were happy about it, once we got outside and hit the beach.
It was OK
location and excellent breakfast.
Friendly staff - specially good in the restaurant - very good meal.
the location and the water temperature/swimming pool. The food the size & location of the swimming pool + proximity with zonebank
Good location next to beach Small rooms Unmpressive food Difficult parking Unattractive decor
We had a great stay at the newly opened Hotel Zilt. The welcome at the reception was one, if not the friendliest we ever experienced in a hotel. It was a real nice hotel and considering that just are open 1,5 months it was an excellent stay. Next time we stay in Flushing we will stay at Zilt again.
Nice location. A luxury room was reserved, but it's definitely not worth the money. The luxury room is certainly not worth its money.
location room extremely small
The location was convenient and the breakfast was outstanding! There is a pleasant outside patio with a lovely indoor seating area with an adequate bar. My room was rather small and the bathroom light did now work. Wireless is not free which is, of course, rather crooked. And in general the place feels quite cramped, especially when it comes to the thin spiral stair which I saw too many elderly guests climbing becaust the elevator seemed old and slow, and was also quite cramped. But to be fair, the majority of the disadvantages of this hotel are due to design issues beyond the control of the current staff. And for the price paid the hotel was very reasonable.
Nice old hotel - great location - friendly people
Breakfast was something to look forward to. the hotel (rooms) needs serious maintenance; are very out-dated.
Nicely located on the border of the city center. Completely outdated rooms, unclear emergency exits, an elevator that is too small and a cramped breakfast room.
the room is ok and comfortable. the wall between the rooms are so thin. the TV did not work well because it is old.
The location which enabled us to visit with family members easily and also enabled easy access to and from the railway station. The staff were totally un-concerned that we had flown all night and would have liked a little earlier check-in time. 3pm and no allowance for any change. The room had walls so thin we could hear people snore and pass wind in the rooms beside us, not to mention every word of their conversations [we whispered to avoid them hearing us!]. The bed was so worn that we rolled into the middle. Aside from that, the breakfast is always generous and good and although the hotel requires a major update, it is clean.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting. Our room overlooked the river. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were efficient and very welcoming. An extra bed in the room making use of the mirror and access to use my hairdryer difficult.
the room was very small, poorly furnished and there was a dip in the floor where the floor boards were damaged
Very, very long service at the restaurant... far too long actually Problem that rasor plug didn't work in the room. I think when that happens you should propose a slight reduction as it is not great shaving in the bedroom
friendly helpful staff menu was a little limited for a long stay and only in dutch
close to town. excellent value for money and you would n ot go hungry with the breakfast no
friendly staff, good breakfast Ugly building
Comfortable beds, friendly staff shower room small and poorly ventilented
The weather was not great, so the particularly good restaurant was appreciated, given that the hotel was a good walk from the city centre. We have been used, when using booking.com, to being given one of the better rooms in the price range, at least for our first stay, and possibly because of this feedback feature. That was not the case this time. Our room was adequate, but a bit small, and located too close to the lobby, thus a bit noisy.
the staff was very friendly and helpful. the complimentary breakfasts were delicious.the room was kept clean. no air conditioning. no bathtub, just a shower. no pool.
Very friendly hotel staff. Good breakfast.
Poorly trained restaurant staff. Basic level of room furnishing for a 4 star establishment.
the new restaurant launched by Sergio Herman, the 3 stars chef of the Netherlands Rooms look the age of the hotel (30-40 years ?), although they are clean. A bit oldish, but a perfect location for those who seek silence, breathtaking views over the sea and beautiful beaches
Its location and the friendly, efficient service by all members of staff but particularly those on reception We cannot think of a single thing we disliked
The friendliness of the hotel staff.
The location on the dunes with the view of the beach and Sea is very nice. the staff was helpful
Unfortunately the restaurant was so successful that they did not have place for 'regular' hotel guests for dinner - if no reservation was made. Ordering a cup of tea to take back to the room took 20 minutes. And even though it's called 'strand' (=beach) hotel, the access to the beach was closed after breakfast - according to the personnel to keep out the crowds that are attracted to the trendy restaurant/bar design. Even though the design of the restaurant is splendid, the rest of the hotel would get 3-stars if you ask me.
Wonderful location, not too crowded, excellent restaurant service and food.
Nice hotel, close to the beach I did not like the difference in price between what was written in the email from you (125€) to what I had to pay (190€)
That we could have dinner at pure c, taking the apero on the terras. Breakfast in the morning in the same nice area was nice too. Pity we had to leave so early.
Comfortable. Impeccable service. Good food.
Beautiful hotel, very clean, luxuous and quiet. The staff was pleasant and very helpfull. The location is good but not in front sea like i expected, it is more near a shore than the sea, but you are at dirty minutes from Vlissingen, a beautiful beach. Good value for money. The restaurant is excellent, delicious.
Lots of space in bedroom and in hotel in general which made it easier to cope with a young baby Steps in front and at restaurant - not very convenient for prams or for physically handicapped people
Nice staff. Large and confortable room, enough space for the babycot. Children friendly. Good food at hotel restaurant. Room under roof was rather hot, fortunately air conditioning worked well.
Situation on the front viewing the river
Quite comfortable for a family with a little child (necessary facilities available). Big rooms. Close to everything. Nice view. Helpful staff. Not very much adapted for people on wheelchairs (or for strollers). There are a few steps outside and no driveway. Breakfast, although very good, not impressive for a four star hotel. Expensive parking.
we always enjoy our stay, the staff are excellent, the food is always v.good. we preferred the old style dining room decor. However the staff seem very pleased with the new look.
Excellent view from room Good size room Hot breakfast was not available 3 out of 6 mornings
great seaside views and good staff service
Friendly staff - happy to speak in english. Gave as much information as possiblke regarding local amenities etc N/A
Central location for the town, good outlook to river.
Relaxing and calming location. Staff very helpful and attentive. Special and variated breakfast.Definitely the place to go to relax and reload the batteries.
Beautiful accommodation in a wonderful setting. Staff very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse if you are visiting this area. It was our first stop on a tour of the Netherlands (an easy 2 hour drive from the ferry at Calais).
Good Room excellent food near to amenities helpful
The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive.
good size of room. nice balcony, quiet, good breakfast need to rethink the lounge. no hospitality tray in room
Staff very helpful and friendly
I liked the kindness of the staff at the reception. They helpd me to find a taxi in a busy time. I also liked the breakfast and the restaurant Some clients came late and making noise in the stairs
We enjoyed the food in the restaurant the fact that they allow pets in the rooms
Very helpful staff. The food in the restaurant is excellent. Enjoyed our stay so much booked another 3 days in July. The TV in the rooms are tiny.
we found the staff very helpful noproblems with the rooms no complaints
Friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings
The food at the restaurant was good. Price was good, but overall quality is closer to a 2 star hotel, rather than a 4 star one.
Convenient location with sea view together with excellent food in the restaurant No drawer space to put underwear, shirts, jumpers etc only a wardrobe with hanging space
Beautiful setting on the Boulevard in Vlissingen, wonderful food in a fine restaurant, with effecient and friendly staff.
The rooms were spacious and clean. The penthouse was a fantastic place for a small family to stay - self catering with laundry facitilities. The excellent breakfast was included in the price.
Excellent location. Very friendly staff. Good restaurant. Steep stairway, could be difficult for elderly people.
Breakfast and restaurant Steep stairs
Very nice, small hotel with Dutch charme and friendly staff. In the room is everything you need. Beautiful view on the water. Restaurant with excellent food. Dutch breakfast is o.k.I will come back.
This place was great. It had a living room, large bath and bedroom along with a spectacular view from the living room of the sea. The resturant was excellent . The employees were very helpful and when the wi-fi did not work in our suite they let us use their office computer to make out next reservation. When is Vlissingen, go here!
Good location; excellent restaurant Steps to room were steep. We had no problem but it could be a problem for some couples our age.
Friendly staff - nice airy room with balcony. Big bathroom with separate shower. No parking but given a free parking ticket. Position right on sea front.Continental breakfast very adequate and nicely served and prepared. Stairs very steep - not suitable for children, disabled or elderly
Value for money, helpful staff, location
We stayed at the Hotel De Nieuwe Doelen while attending a family reunion in Middelburg. The staff was very accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the breakfasts were excellent. The location very close to the train station made for easy access to Amsterdam, Schiphol, and other cities. The only minor quibble I had with the room was the lack of soundproofing. I could hear any noises made outside my room quite clearly, but most guests were considerate in this regard.
Convenience. Breakfast included. Elevator. Daily cleaning was inadequte. General level of service was indifferent.
The friendliness of the staff Nothing
Friendly staff. Good place to visit the city of Middelburg and the area of Zeeland.
Excellent, helpful and friendly staff. Good position but rooms a little tired.
Very pleasant courtyard garden to have breakfast in
The personnel was very nice and friendly The carpet of the room was not cleaned at all during our stay.
The central location and the friendliness and helpfulness of the young staff. My bed had crumbs on the box-spring from a previous occupant. The hallways are dimly lighted. Everything could use a fresh coat of light paint.
The location. It was quite dusty and the sheets were not really clean.
Good location but a bit pricey
