excellent leisure facilities, lovely setting the staff did seem under pressure
Peaceful location, great staff Poor communication between bar and restaurant. The barman was gone half the time just hand-carrying an order over to the kitchen. Why not put in a computer terminal for order entries, or even just a phone in the bar?
Excellent value dinner and beautiful surroundings. towels did not smell particularly fresh Information about the menu and cost of the dinner was hard to get.
Friendly staff and good service Room was poor. Noisy, no remote for tv, dodgy light switch.
The wedding was at 2 and they would not let us check in time to get ready for the wedding. I asked you for the wedding rate and you did not reply therefore we had to pay substantially more than everyone else. You could have replied to my message to you on our booking
The spa was excellent, the manageress was very efficient , friendly and helpfull. The superior room was excellent but let down by the lack of anywhere to hang clothes. We enjoyed the hotel but we had in fact booked for twol nights and the night before we stayed I was informed that due to some problem a room would not be available, we were offered a rooom and another hotel many miles away but this was of no use to us. I was told that they would offer us one of their superior rooms for the Saturday night and offered a bottle of wine to compensate, I suggested champagne and the girl said ok. On arrival at the hotel we found the receptionist to be not particularly friendly and not very welcoming. In the room we found a bottle of cava instead of champagne, I spoke to the manageress about this and she changed it for us, she in fact was very pleasant and helpfull unlike the fairly surly receptionist.
Our room was very spacious breakfast was poor: late in arriving and cold when it did
lovely surroundings rooms tired. health club tired and the place generally is a bit run down
Banqueting food at the Wedding was fine even if service was poor, such as white wine unchilled, staff seemed inexperienced. The Manger tried hard but he has an uphill struggle ! It needs a lot of upgrading to be worthy of stars and price. Housekeeping was very poor, stairwells were a disgrace.Buffet breakfast for wedding guests was stone cold even if quality of food was good it was spoilt.
Very friendly staff who worked at making sure your stay was an enjoyable experience.Surprisingly pet friendly. Most days wedding held! That is the speciality but still ok
It was not over renovated. Seemed to be an authentic castle with a few frayed carpets and paint work required here and there. Good room service menu. Good breakfast. Check out was painfully slow (45 minutes) and the bills were wrong.
We attended a wedding at the hotel and it was very good for that
The hotel is in a relatively remote location and yet it has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff were all very friendly. Food though expensive and of the nouvelle cuisine style, was beautifully presented, absolutely delicious and surprisingly filling. This is the second time I have stayed here and I would emphatically recommend it. I was on business and opted for it because it was one of very few hotels in the area. It was definitely a world away from my normal accommodation, and all the better for that. My room as on the previous occasion, was sumptuous, beautiful elegant modern bathroom with a bath and a separate shower big enough for two people to share. Large comfy double bed. It is quite easy to get lost trying to find the place even with Sat Nav. Bit it is well worth the effort. In fact be warned that the Sat Nav and indeed the road signs tend to take you on an unnecessarily circuitous route in order to make sure you arrive at the hotel via a very long drive. There is a much shorter route into the hotel from the A96 which I think is probably reserved for deliveries.
Location, food, staff, lovely and quiet The tiny room with it's view of the kitchen extraction flue (an executive room...). The hotel credit card charge was a blast from the past - an unwelcome one.
I have to say the breakfast was as good as anywhere I have stayed and gets full marks
Food very good Service, especially pre-dinner, poor.
Pittodrie House is located in a very impressive scenery. The house is well maintained and the information provided on the website is accurate. Meals were excellent.
Old mansion house in lovely countryside. Open log fires in lounge and dining room created a relaxing ambience. Friendly staff. Felt dinner at £35 was overpriced for the standard of the food compared to other hotels at similar standard and price.
congenial staff no
The warmth and friendliness of all staff from the moment we arrived to check in.
Generally the room was clean and facilities good .. The matress which you could control was also good . I was dissapointed that their was no room in the Hilton car park so I had to use the car park up the road . This would have been fine but I was told it would only cost £5 to park here and the hotel would validate my ticket ..when i tried to exit the car park however I was to be charged £18 and had to speak to car park manager to sort it out . It was also made difficult to know how to connect to the free wifi , which took a couple of calls to reception to sort out , however it was .
It was ideally close to the city centre but you would think that you were further out as there was no noise outside Couldnt fault the hotel
Rooms were warm and clean, staff were very friendly. No Smoking Rooms!
great room and good staff.
Nothing Very poor standard of facilities. No internet in rooms etc. Very Basic.
Me and my family really enjoyed our stay. The use of the pool and room was fantastic. Will definitely be back again. Thank you all.
The room, the food, the service. On the night I stayed there was not enough bar staff
Good sized rooms which are clean and in a good state of repair. Rooms not too hot and stuffy thankfully. Food in the restuarant was very average and certainly not value for money.
Kids enjoyed swimming pool. When we asked if there was anywhere we could take the kids to get chips etc. the receptionist said there was nowhere nearby. The next day in daylight we found out there was a Burger King across the road which the kids would have enjoyed more than the meal which they had to eat at the hotel and did not like.
Location was not walking distance to the City Centre. Building was tired and although refurbished bedrooms were ok, the public areas were drab with threadbare stair carpets so did not appear fresh or clean. Only 1 lifts was operating. Surface of car park was terrible with big pot holes.
The staff were the best thing about the hotel. One manager assisted in my search for local contractors.
I found it to be an ideal base for shopping in Aberdeen and visiting facilities in the evening. It was near enough to town centre but away from the noise often associated with the centre.
The reception staff were great, the bar and restaurant was very pleasant and the rooms were clean and comforatble.
large airy rooms
Very nice modern rooms. Cooked breakfast was not the best, but good overall coice
Overall very clean. Rooms were not ready when we went to check in at 330pm
I should have asked at the time, but are all your bathrooms wetrooms fitted for disabled guests. Our bathroom was clearly taking disabled patros into account, but I have to say I would love to have been able to enjoy a relaxing bath (which in room 723 Aberdeen Jury Inn) was not available. Hoping my feed back is taken into account, and thanking you for your interest. Bearing in mind that I have taken my time to fill out your questionaire, I would be most grateful to recieve a reply with regards to my 'grievance' Kind Regards. Lm See above
very central quite expensive
The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. The food was very poor and very overpriced. The staff were distantly polite but did not react to my complaints about the food.
The whole exoerience was good.
The location of the hotel was excellent and very close to the rail station
No Room Service. No on-site parking - the hotel was advertised as having on-site parking.
Clean room, very central Had to pay extorionate rates for parking. £18 for 24hrs
alarm going off at 6.30am
Handy near rail station and city cente
Location was ideal for access to shops, night life, railway station, buses etc. Room was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, good choice, dishes were constantly being replenished, restaurant staff very attentive Room was a bit on the cold side, although the hotel in general was warm. It was an extremely cold night, and we were chilled when we came in, so normally it wouldn't have been so noticeable. The facility to adjust the heating in the room would have been welcome. To be fair, we didn't contact Reception about it, so they may have been able to boost the heating. Bathroom was also a bit on the cold side.
staff very friendly and helpful in all areas.Location great for shops, sightseeing etc Ifound nothing I would have improved on.
As always the staff made us feel very welcome ,the room was clean and comfortable and breakfast the next day was excellent .
V ery clean and most comfortable beds . Staff very helpful.
Helpfull and friendly staff, excellent location
Good size of room althought he TV was a bit far away and the breakfast was good. The location was excellent Lift was very slow and the stairs were steep
location in the city centre. Internet connection in the rooms the view from my window onto the wall of the other building
Check in staff and breakfast staff were very helpful. Pigeons nesting so I got very little sleep. The room was quite small and could do with a little revamp.
Staff very friendly Noise from ball room and other guests
Location, good breakfast the room was old and dirty
the location to everywhere in aberdeen breakfast time could have been later
Location of hotel, friendly staff, good selection of breakfast items
the hotel needs renovation
The hotel was well situated and very comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful.
Great location and breakfast buffet. Perfect for a business trip without breaking the bank. Staff is friendly and helpful. The private car park is a lifesaver in downtown Aberdeen. I liked the small, historical, boutique feel, while they also offered modern ammenitites and a full bar/restaurant. While perfectly comfortable, the standard single room was the smallest I've ever stayed in. Tiny twin bed, and a tiny walk-in shower. Next time I'd bump up my reservation to the deluxe single or deluxe double room.
The good value for money
The friendliness of the Staff The price for the 2nd night was double the first night! Not great value for money.
Hotel central Room was claustrophobic. The window had frosted glass making the room very dark and very warm. Had to ask for a fan - which we got - but I would not have spent more than one night in the room.
The hotel has a central location. The hotel boasts that it has a car park. There are about 20 spaces which are used by the staff and often double parked. You will be very lucky to get a space. The room was small without a view the price charged is not value for money.
convience to city centre, some of the rooms are smoking rooms, even though the smoking ban is not in force long you could still get a smell of smoke in the room.If Iwere to stay at this hotel again I would request a no smoke room.
Cleanliness of rooms, the small nice touches like a pint of milk in the fridge with the tea coffee facilities. Excellent staff in reception and breakfast room who deserve a special mention. Very easy walking distance to the shops in Union Street and the indoor shopping centres. Lounge/ kitchen area fine and very comfortable with wide screen tv. Toilet/ shower spotless with hair drier and toiletries provided. Seperate bedroom very comfortable. Iron and ironing board provided which was also useful. Private parking free and secure. Non smoking room. None with the hotel. Make sure that you get directions from hotel as following the aa route plan which was inaccurate we got lost when we entered Aberdeen. Going back, the Receptionist gave us a very easy and accurate route to follow to get to the motorway home to Glasgow.
Lovely hotel enjoyed our stay, will definatly be back, but when its cold outside The room was far too warm. Could do with air con Car park entrance was a bit dodgy
location was good, it was very clean, lovely and comfortable. Staff were good and helpfull. nothing
We stayed as a family of 4. It was very nice to have the use of a full kitchen and a sitting room where we could relax in the evening and watch a DVD. Breakfast was excellent. Overall very good value for our group. We were on the third floor and there was no lift in the house.
I really liked the fact that I had a proper suite with a sperate bedroom and living room, even if the decor was a little old fashioned. It gave a real feeling of personal space. It was a bit of a hike up the stairs to my room, but no real matter. The booking.com site appeared to indicate a continental breakfast was included but according to the hotel that is only for "superior" suites.
Everything was superb! The staff was very kind and helpful. The apartment had three rooms very comfortable and clean and the kitchen/dining room was large and cosy.
Check in was quick and eficient Check out the evening before was quick and efficient however when giving key back to reception was delayed to check I allready paid night before staff there was a bit funny
We arrived and we promptly upgraded as a result of my disability and the fact that the older part was being renovated. This was simply amazing treatment by the staff of this hotel. No, and when the old part gets renovated it will also be completely exceptional as the new part.
did not get the room booked
The room was lovely, when booking the room didn't realise we were getting a flat with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and livingroom. Was a big surprise when walking in. Loved it. Will come back soon. amazing for money!!!!
Stayed in this hotel previously (Patio) many times. None
using the swimming pool and steam room, the buffet breakfast had a good choices to meet all needs
It was convient for shopping I liked the pool and spa it was close to all the entertainment and restaurants at the beech. The pillows were far to soft I had to put towels under them
The hotel was close to the city centre and near to local entertainment. It was clkean and the staff were friendly. The corridors had a oduor of cigarette smoke which included the stair well near the entrance door.
got the standard double room and wasnt impressed, so upgraded to platinum, which was absoultly brilliant, a little pricey though
Tha spa facilities were excellent. Staff very helpfull when we had a problem with noise from an adjoining room The breakfast buffet could have been warmer. Myself and my wife found it to be a bit on the cold side. Having said that the selection of food was very goos.
Excellent room with sea views, friendly, helpful staff and a great breakfast.
Good service and meals. Great location with free parking Could do with some refurbishment, especially the bathroom. Only one lift which did not feel very safe.
The room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Lovely meal in the dining room. The best yet of the many hotels we have stayed in, here in Aberdeen.
The check-in was swift and helpful, the room spacious, weel equipped and comfortable and supper was served by very friendly staff in the restaurant. My fist stay at the DoubleTree and one I shall be repeating. Parking seemed difficult but it was dark and heavy rain so perhaps parking signage could be improved?
Very friendly staff, super clean, nice facilities, good price, but... The bed was actually two single beds pushed together with king-sized linens over them. I'd rather just have one small bed than to have the hard edges of two separate beds right down the middle.
Brilliant service from beginning to end. Asked to check in early and we were offered a cup of tea while we waited (sounds small but made a good impression). Really lovely staff who pay attemtion to detail. None
disappointed at breakfast, others seemed to get a choice of coffees whereas we were just given a jug a nd a pot of tea which by the way were stone cold
I did like very much the interior design differing from the other Radissons that I visited - much more colorful and cosy. The restaurant served very well prepared food and the gym was well equipped. I have noticed that my room was not cleaned properly (the carpet was not hoovered on he daily basis and the bathroom was also not cleaned as it should have been). There was a problem with the organization of the room service stuff - when I ordered a meal to be brought to my room I had to call back a couple of times and I still did not received whatI wanted because of the member of the stuff who did not come that evening to his job and who was responsible for the cooking after the opening hours of the restaurant.
Central position. Clean and friendly.
Booking was easy, quality of food and room/services were also good, overall an enjoyable stay. Some trouble paying. This was a gift from my daughter and when she called to pay the outstanding balance she was emailed with a third party payment form and emailed it back but when we checked out we were told that the email and form had not yet been looked at and I was told that it would probably just be taken off her card that she used to pay the deposit with. We are quite concerned that she will be charged twice.
Staff 1st class. Made to feel very welcome. Very Friendly. Comfort Cleanliness N.A.
Staff were really pleasant and helpful, particularly appreciated that room service costs were not ridiculous. The food was lovely and brought quickly Bacon and Sausages at breakfast were horrible! Sorry but they were.
Handy location and cheap and chearfull. Off duty bar staff drinking in bar with guests wearing uniforms.
Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a very nice bar/lounge area. Too bad there is no transport between the hotel and the City Centre.
the spa since change of management quality of hotel is much less tha it used to be which is a shame.
Enjoyed the use of the Spa Facilites, also had a massage which was very nice. Evening Meal in Bar very nice although service a wee bit slow. 12pm check out time is good Bathroom needs a bit of updating, Bar was busy in the eveing, more than one person required to serve
Setting and character of the older mansion part of the hotel are nice. The decor and room fittings are now rather tired and in need of refurb, as are the bathrooms. It did not live up to it's percieved standard.
Hotel is tired and requiring re-furbishment
Very comfortable, good sized room, leisure facilities good.
The staff, food and facilities were excellent.
The restaurant meal was excellent. There was a great deal of potpourri used to attempt to cover a musty, damp smell. But, of course, it is a castle, so this may be a normal condition.
Not very convenient for travellers without own car
It would have been nice to have a coke and ice machine on the premises. Since there was not, I had to go to the pub to get a coke for my room. That cost 3.50 pounds!!!! Way too much!!!
Swimming pool and leisure facilities Bedroom did not have play station, no internet when change room, bathroom nothing special, just basic facilities, not as advertised, hotel needs decorated throughout, lobby very poor which is the point of entry
Meal was lovely and breakfast Drinks a bit expensive .
Food and service were better than expected. Good value for money, excellent position in quiet location.
The quality of the service and the room.
Easy Parking, good location Drinks in bar a bit expensive
Good location for business in Aberdeen......stayed here before and will stay again. They were having a total refurb of the restaurant and reception which made getting to my room difficult and the planning was not good. I would also have appreciated to have been told this prior to my arrival....the place looked in chaos !
Good value for money staff very helpful and pleasant None
Hotel is very well run and staff were very helpful. There weren't really any
Excellent bar meal and very good service Rather noisy with refurbishment
Facilities, ie: swimming pool, gym The family room that we occupied was too small, no enough space for us to move. No aircon, room was too warm, the decoration of the room was dated and most of all the sofa bed that they provided was not comfy.
Meal was good in resturaunt One of the two computers in the business centre wasn't working. The printers were not connected. Neither I nor the staff could get the wifi connection in the lobby to work. The pool was not open on all dates.
The room was clean and had the appearance of being resently renovated. The on-suite was good and the shower/bath everything we could wish for. We only used the dinning room for breakfast but the dinner menu was very appetising and the dinning room was very busy all day on sunday. Fire door part way down corridor tended to close with a bang, causing some disturbance during the night. The room needed a chair or two as sitting on the bed was not particularly comfortable.
The size of the room was great, as were the staff. The room was not ready for us, the bed was not made and the room not vaccumed. The shower wouldn't work.
Small box room with only a skylight, which smelt of stale cigarettes and mould. Hotel was also very noisy.
loads of parking the bar/seating area ,too few seats available.
Was all genrally good.
no hot water
The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. TV only had 3 channels working. I went for breakfast at 7.00am and ordered a cooked breakfast immediately. At 7.40 I was still waiting for my food to come, as was everyone else. In the end I had to leave without anything to eat.Unfortunately I had already paid my Hotel bill whilst waiting for my breakfast.
Food was of a "pub" standard - good, filling but expensive for what it was. Beds were comfortable Big, bleak, barren - very few other guests - dined alone with only one other family group on a Friday night. Limited menu although well cooked. Bedroom although large with high ceilings had only one tiny framed print on the walls, cobwebs on the chandelier, black mould around the bath. Very worn carpeting throughout the hotel. Very dated throughout.
Close to local amenities. Bed gave me an awful backache the following day.
efficient booking in and olut tables too low to eat in the bar
only 5 min walk to the innercity main streets, clean and nice rooms,
Very nice location, excellent rooms Suite 201 maintenance issues: hall radiator valve broken = noise throuout the night, loose sink tap handles, only one set of towels initially despite booking 2 people, networking issues resulting in no internet access
The Skene House - Whitehall Hotel is a managed appartment facility which is well suited for longer stays, giving you all the facilities and privacy of your own appartment, together with good service. And the inclusive breakfast is very nice.
City centre for business access and very comfortable suite to return to. no
We loved the standard of the accomodation eg the luxury of having a suite with all facilities but with the bonus of having a breakfast included as well as a complimentary drink on the first day and free beverages and snacks during your stay. Superb Nothing it was excellent.
The accomadation was wonderfull fully fitted kitchen was great it was home from home breakfast was great staff were very nice and helpfull ther was a small play area for kids private parking cctv cameras could not ask for more internet in room was great sat tv sport chanel for husband no
Iwas most impressed with the spacious suite we were allocated,we were in 401 on the ground floor, which was not only superbly equipped itwas most relaxing as we heard almost no noise from fellow guests, despite the suites being fully booked. All of the staff were friendly and most helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet continental breakfast exceeded all expectations with a great choice to suit all tastes and plenty of staff providing pots of tea and coffee and fresh toast. definately a must to stay at if you visit aberdeen, amazing value for money!
The Staff were Excellent. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Breakfast was excellent, and the lounge area with free Tea and coffee was a lovely touch. Overall i do not have an complaints.
Incredible stay, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The only problem we had was when we first arrived, there was no hot water, with in minutes, there was three staff at the door with in minutes
There wasn't anything not to like. The staff were excellent; friendly, courteous, helpful and informative. The suite was marvelous. I was there only overnight, but wished I could have stayed longer.
friendly, modern, relaxed lounge type environment with great wine and above average food, available throughout the day & night. noisy lift alarm - audible from rooms nearby, noisy seagull sanctuary outside one particular room windowsill!
The whole of the downstairs was very nice, and its in a good position for the centre of Aberdeen I think when the whole hotel is finished it will be nice, however some of the rooms looked like they were still in need of refurb
It was close to the city centre the room was absolutely atrocious. The lounge was lovely, there was a nice atmosphere and we had high hopes for our stay. Going up the corridor, the paint was flaking off the walls, the floor and the carpet was uneven. Then we got to our room/prison cell. It was tiny, there was no headboard, it was dated and cold. The table, bedside table and tv stand were all slanted and uneven which I was unsure if it was a quirky thing for the hotel or just really badly made furniture. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and there was no light apart from a bedside lamp. The only saving grace was the size of the bathroom, twice the size of the room although very sparse.
I liked my entrance at the hotel a lot: a stylish, spacious, wellcoming space. The top floor was a little shabby, especialy the carpets and the windows. This is a pitty because the room furnishings aspire to more.
Good city centre location with plenty of helpfull attentive staff in a modern environment. Internet access a bonus.
In desperate need of a makeover! The landing on the 2nd floor was like walking on a bouncy castle and the carpet had to of been bought by the Carmelite nuns. The food left a lot to be desired, which is why I never bothered with breakfast. The one plus point was that they had Sky Sports in the bedroom. See above
The staff are some of the friendliest I have ever come across, they couldnt do enough for you. The public area's are fantastic as is the food! I hope the hotel will refurbish the remainder of their bedrooms soon as this could be Aberdeens first life style hotel!
the staff were very helpful, happy and willing to help. my wife is a fussy eater and our evening meal and breakfast was cooked and presented just as requested. the whole experience was absolutely spot on many thanks we was only there one night and didn't find anything wrong
Very pleasant hotel, good service and good facilities. Very reasonably priced. Good location.
Decor, facilities, dining, rooms excellent very modern and up-to the minute, very, very clean. Breakfast was extra at £12.50 quite expensive, dining was very very good but again quite pricey.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, everything felt new and clean but it is very dark in the rooms. There is a small carpark at the front of the hotel so we parked on the busy street. We were told that there was additional parking at the back of the hotel and how to get there but when we drove round there were no spaces left for us. Not enough parking spaces and we ended up going out for drinks as we could not get served at the bar, it was realy busy, I'm not sure whether there was a party going on or whether it is always that busy.
Lovely decor, whole place squeaky clean
good food, good staff, lovely rooms, although the foyer fire needs topping up more frequently foyer layout when front doors open it gets very cold even with the fire on they could do with turnstile type doors to keep the heat in
Beautifullly decorated hotel with luxury rooms. We enjoyed the use of the Spa while there to relax.
The restaurant was wonderful...... I did not like that the staff thought it was okay to put a bill through to the room without signing for it. Consistantly this was an issue.
Great looking hotel from the outside, very friendly staff at check in, loved the vibe and decor, cracking room and a fantastic restaurant. All set within a very trendy, Scottish inspired hotel. Nothing, genuinely everything was fantastic
We liked the quirky decoration, the toiletries and the shower The room was rather small, as was the TV. No view. The cooked breakfast was disappointing, too - the bacon undercooked and flabby!
The breakfast was terrible for a scottish breakfast
Comfort of room Too dark in room, not enough lighting, could not control room temperature
