Highly recommended!

Pros: The design of the hostel left me amazed. The architecture of this accommodation was the most unique we had in Japan. The shape and style of the interior with all that wood and the tree inside the building was so lovely. The rooms were simple, but spacious (for Japanese standarts). All facilities were super clean and the staff very friendly as well. Hope to be back some day.

Cons: Our room was on the first floor and the toilet was downstairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well from the moment I arrived, I realize Toshihiro has a great intuition, know exactly how to help before my questions arrived. What better host to have and as need a quiet room and I got that. I stayed longer than any other place, though one has to eat outside are several restaurants in short distant and for me being vegan a tofu-restaurant or different seaweed triangular rice-meal at Family-mart within 300m. And such are sights like no. 1 ISE-Grand Shrine 1km. & 5km. to Geku Shrine. To the wedded rocks in sea, 9km. CAN bus+train. Netsuko, the wife, the manager takes as well care of their 3 children and the more you dare to ask either of them the more of Shinto and Japanese life you’ll get to know! I got chocolate presents too. And if its wasn’t for Toshihiro, I would at my last morning at 8,- have seen the ritual ‘Messenger of the emperor arrived to Grand Shrine’, -that being a horse, dragged by man and 2 white-dress priest do the respectful act.
Cons: To leave, if it wasn’t for the plan to see some old Japanese friends at country side west of Kyoto, I would have extended!

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Ise Guesthouse Tsumugiya - Hostel in Ise, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Ise Grand Shrine and Sun Arena. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff (don't hesitate to add me on couchsurfing in case you're coming to Barcelona someday! ;)) clean, very quiet, nice living room and close from the 2 train stations
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Guest House Tsumugiya had a very convenient location! Walking distances to the main Iseshi station (more accessible if you exit on the Kintetsu side and not the JR side, I think), very close to a Family Mart and a number of local supermarkets. They provided the cutest hand drawn and very detailed map on check-in! We indicated a 4 PM arrival for check-in but due to being delayed by all the great food at Okage Yokocho and detouring for a quick dinner along the restaurant street leading to Geku, we ended up arriving at 8:30 PM. The staff who greeted us was very kind and did not mind that we arrived quite late, though she reminded us that check-in ends at 9 PM. She promptly showed us around the facilities after we checked in and bid us a good night after we had been shown to our room. The house is an old traditional Japanese style house and our room was on the second floor. The tatami room was cozy but the size was just right for spreading out two futons. They have a super cute diagram for instructions on how to set up the futon and the bedsheets. It was very easy to follow. They provided hangers for our clothes and the room had an aircon which served as a heater as it was a bit chilly that night.
Cons: As mentioned, the house is an old traditional Japanese style house. This means that walls are quite thin. Our room was situated next to the stairs and was facing the same side as the first floor entrance. You can hear other guests arriving when the sliding doors opened or when they are walking up the stairs and talking. There is nothing much to be done in this regard, but it is something to be mindful about. The facilities are also showing their age, like the downstairs shower area. Walls are tiled, but the floor has been left as smoothed over concrete. It gives a very "rustic" feeling, if you will. Though I would have liked it better if the tea-towel sized curtains over translucent or slightly opaque windows gave much more covering. There is a sink right outside the shower area where another guest using the sink could potentially/accidentally look up and catch a glimpse. It was a bit disconcerting. However there is a shower curtain to hide behind until the coast is clear!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The place is conveniently located by the train stations. The neighborhood is quiet and picturesque, I recommend hanging out in the streets at night. You feel like you live in a traditional Japanese house. The balcony is nice. They provide a commented map of the places all around. The public bath is at 3 minutes walk, I recommend the experience. The hostess is a former backpacker, genuinely interested by your previous experiences and likes to share and to chat. Great feeling of hospitality.
Cons: Moskitos
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beutiful japanese style house with a cosy atmosphere. The host was super friendly and her restaurant/cafe-guide to the neighborhood was so helpful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location for this 100 year old guesthouse was neat. In the middle of the old neighbourhood Kawasaki with a lot of nice and cozy places to visit within 5 minutes walk. Just about 10 minutes from the station by foot, which makes it convenient for dragging a suitcase. The host was very welcoming and gave a lot of information about the city alongside a self-drawn map of nearby restaurants etc. Would recommend this place for anyone who is comfortable with hanging out with other people in the guesthouse and not afraid of an old house!
Cons: Nothing that we didn't dislike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right on the Kawasaki street! (A little hard to find as the entrance is down a side alley). Friendly fun and hardworking staff. Clean and comfy stay!
Cons: A little hard to find as the entrance is down a side alley. Think it could be sign posted better particularly at night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Small but cosy guesthouse. The building renovated few years ago and still had nice tastes of Japanese villa. Old but well maintained by the owner. Cooking facilities and cutlery are almost perfectly prepared. Good access to main Ise station.
Cons: Doesn’t have front desk service for 24hr. You cannot inquire between 11am and 4pm. But it’s understandable as it’s a small guesthouse.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is a very friendly and interesting girl, who’s very happy to engage in conversations and has a very good knowledge of different cultures. The guest house is well located close to the kintetsu and JR lines and the historical center
Cons: Facilities are a bit run down (I guess it’s not easy to maintain such a big place by herself) and spaces in dorm kinda narrow. We had bad luck with a snoring man in our room and it was literally 5 cm from us. Of course that’s nobody’s fault but it prevented us from sleeping all night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the owner takes care of her guests by heart. The house and the interior is also very lovely. It is like taken from a Ghibli movie! You can rent a bike to get to some sightseeing spots but you can also walk to the Iseshi-station to get access to bus and train. There are also traditional Japanese cafes, a big supermarket and a convenience store nearby. I think there are not many places who are such convenient like this hostel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house looks amazing, a traditional Japanese wood house. Wish that I could own a house like this. Would love to stay there for the rest of my life. The balcony and the view, refreshing and peaceful.

Pros: Authentic ryokan with extra friendly staff. The breakfast and dinner were excellent. The attention to details, cleanliness and the style of the building made the experience totally Japanese. The location is also very well located, close to the train station and Ise-Jingu (Geku).
Cons: Not much really

Cons: The toilet is not inside the room and cannot lock the door from outside. But luckily they only served three rooms
