10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is stunning. There are no bad points. The rooms are beautiful down to the last ornament, the staff are lovely, the food is excellent and the view is incredible. We were also lucky, as I understand that evening meal is not yet standard here so when we were offered home cooked lasagne after a long day we jumped at the chance. Fantastic
Cons: Absolutely nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved having a self contained tiny home that was so deluxe on the inside. Everything we needed was there and the layout was so functional. Beautiful views as well. There really is nothing in the town except a gas station, a small grocery and. One restaurant, so it was great they had optional dinner at the main house which was incredible.
Cons: It was very windy and rainy—gale force—during our stay and apparently for that location not too uncommon. The extreme weather was my only concern!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well equipped and comfortable beds. Rooms were spacious and Netflix on TV was a bonus. Great environment and breakfast.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel and charming chalet like rooms away from the town looking onto the water. Breakfast also good
Cons: We arrived close to restaurant closing time and felt the chef didn’t want to cook for us so he recommended to go to another place which to be fair to him was nice. Their dinner menu is limited
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view, amazing food and very friendly, accommodating staff.
Cons: We loved everything!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful hotel, trust me you will not regret your stay! I found the staff very nice to talk to as well. They made decent dinner at a reasonable price. Would stay again if I was in Iceland again.
Cons: My bathroom smelled a bit of sewage, but was very clean and affected my overall experience very little.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Room and the view over the lake. Nice shower. Comfortable beds. Great hosts.
Cons: Nothing

It was a great location in between a lot of attractions, and a nice drive to the glaciers. I loved how it was int he middle of nowhere, but felt so homey. Cons: No fridge or microwave oven in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely beautiful sunrise. Food was delicious. Room was cute, comfy and huge. I loved this place!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was great - right by the canyon! We got upgraded to a private bathroom even though we had booked a shared, which was awesome. It was a decent breakfast and the lunch we had them pack to go was a lot of food for the price. Liked that! We had heard there might be hot water problems but we didn't have any.
Cons: Very pot-hole filled road to get to the location and some very dark one lane bridges which wasn't fun at night. Also, we booked a double and got two twins but we had also been upgraded to the private bathroom so it was hard to complain.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast is good, informative staff, good location
Cons: Over priced, rooms are small not very confortable, wifi not working,
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Clean basic accommodations in cabin. Nice breakfast
Cons: Very expensive given the type of room but not very many places to choose from in that location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy cottages, comfortable bed. Dining room with local, delicious choices. Staff friendly and accomadating. Short 2-3k hike or drive to stunning Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.
Cons: Nothing!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - Next to the Ring Road no. 1 and 10mins drive from the Kirkjubæjarklaustur; around an hour drive for the Glacier Hike (Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður) meeting point - Excellent Breakfast and Dinner, must try their lamb dishes of dinner - Nice and helpful staff (e.g. come fix the problem of room door immediately) - Relaxing Atmosphere - May be Good place for Aurora Hunt if weather is good [cloudy during my stay :( ]
Cons: - Hot water tank is small [Max. 15 mins shower OR you can have glacier water shower ;) ] - May easily miss the road junction at evening [ Not much light at surrounding]
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We booked 2 rooms with shared bathroom, so we stayed in same cabin. The room is a little bit tiny, but with washstand. The room is comfy. The dining area is sweet and warm. The breakfast is pretty good. The location is the best! It's very closed to Fjaðrárgljúfur. So we could enjoy early morning sunshine in Fjaðrárgljúfur.
Cons: No

6
8.5 Excellent (1,506 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hótel Geirland in Kirkjubaejarklaustur, you'll be in the mountains, within a 5-minute drive of Stjórnarfoss and Kirkjugólf. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: amazing view, fresh air, great loation ~ nice and friendly staffs
Cons: there is nothing bad I can say.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good view, good breakfast
Cons: Service
9.7 Excellent
Pros: We were here two nights and this was, finally, a hotel that actually let you reuse your towels if you wanted. For most people this is not a big deal, but I find it frustrating that they all have that little sign about reusing towels and then they completely ignore the fact that the towels are hung up and change them all. The staff was very friendly and the scenery was beautiful.
Cons: We could hear some noises from the neighboring rooms, but it wan't horrible. One morning there was no water pressure for us to shower- presumably because the large group that was there was all showering to leave at the same time. It was not a problem for us because our schedule was flexible, but I can see that causing some stress if you really need to shower at that moment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, beautiful views from the room and amazing surroundings, close to a waterfall and surrounded by countryside and mountains. Staff were lovely, food at the restaurant was good and the happy hour was great for a good value glass of wine. Felt very safe staying here as a solo traveler.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The grounds were clean and well maintained. It was a charming place to stay. It was also in a good location, halfway between Vik and Jokusarlon.
Cons: The bathroom was clean but quite small. Not much room to set toiletries. We got in about dinner time and the chef had gone home sick so they did not have dinner. The staff did direct us to a restaurant in town that was good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety of things. The location, although is kind of remote, is very near the road number 1 and it's easy to get back on road. The morning view is also another bonus.
Cons: The buildings are separated with any type of cover. We had lucky that wasn't raining but if it were we would get wet only to take the breakfast.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and silent location below mountains, Nice and helpful staff
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the triple room for 1 night. The girl on the reception was very helpful and patient. Clean bathroom. Kettle in the room. The location is good for stop-over between golden ring sites and glacier lagoon. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: The triple room was actually double room with extra bed. So it was quite small for 3 people. If you want to prepare some sandwich to take with you - you need to pay 500Kr. The parking for the remote buildings is limited in space.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Modern clean Icelandic style hotel. Out of town made it ideal for northern lights, but while we were there totally clouded! Good rooms , good continental breakfast.
Cons: Provided kettle, tea and coffee in room but no milk??

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is perfectly located in a quaint small town 72kms from vik towards hof. The feel of the hotel is premium considering all the smaller hotels/BnB around it. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff is pleasant and polite. The highlight of our trip was not just the location / quality of the hotel but also the amazing breakfast they offer. Its more than you could ask for and fantastic value for money. We are really glad that we chose Hotel Klaustur and highly recommend it to anyone choosing to base close to Kirkjubæjarklaustur for days trips towards the south east. The hotel is in extremely close proximity to a kronan supermarket along with a well reviewed restraunt, which unfortunately we didnt visit. Additionally a small fast food burger place close by too. There are two gas stations too barely 500m from the hotels. The hotel is panoramically surrounded by cliffs smd hiking trails for enthusiasts.

7.9 Good
Pros: LIke a Premier Inn in Iceland. Perfectly clean and adequate but not to the same standard of the rest of our holiday's accommodation. Dinner in the hotel was one of the most expensive we had in Iceland so what we saved on accommodation we spent on dinner! Wifi was patchy (which the receptionist told us when we checked in)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is good for a stop during a road trip, especially if you have planned a glacier tour. The room is warm, quite comfortable and very quite. The receptionist was always ready to assist us. The breakfast is very satisfying.
Cons: The standard bedroom is not spacious enough and he bathroom could be cleaner. The Wi-Fi connection is rather slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place was lovely, happy hour in the bar had good offers and the location was great
9.6 Excellent
Pros: In the middle of nowhere. Very comfortable room. Friendly staff.
Cons: There is only 1 bar tender during the evening. Happy hour was packed. I had to queue nearly 20’ to be able to get a drink. Maybe 2 bar tenders would better but of course more costly for the hotel. Otherwise all was fine.
5.4 Okay
Pros: It was a convenient location between some of the most visited tourists spots for in Iceland.
Cons: The bathrooms in the rooms look like truck stop bathrooms, very dirty and poorly put together. The shower wasn’t an actual shower just a faucet on the wall with a nasty plastic curtain to wrap around you. The bathroom was covered in an inch of water after a basic five minute shower. The restaurant was very expensive with very mediocre food. They demanded we make a reservation for 6 o’clock and then he restaurant didn’t even open until 615. The beds were less than comfortable and the window shades were plastic and falling apart. I’d equate it to a cheap motel.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was nice, as was service.
Cons: General accommodations were very minimalist - no tv in room, shower 'area' open to all of bathroom, and the finishes were shoddy. Chipping paint, cheap construction. Overpriced.
7.9 Good
Pros: Stayed in this hotel based on location - there is no much choice around. Good hotel. Looks good, clean, warm.
Cons: Expensive breakfast. Wi-fi connection was not very strong in the room. But overall we still had a good stay.

7.4 Good
Pros: Clean. Nice waterfall in unusual wooded setting out back.
Cons: Our rooms were large enough, but too hot—couldn’t lower the heat. Rooms were noisy—from the plumbing/gurgling sink, to hallway noise, to the quests outside our open windows (would have died from heat if windows were closed).
5.0 Okay
Cons: Very small rooms. Pictures looked better compared to the reality.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy rooms. Located in a strategic area, with a waterfall just behind the main lobby !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Country type of guesthouse.. near one of the touristy attraction
Cons: Na
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff service was good and the room was clean.
Cons: The toilets and bathrooms did not had any heaters in it, it would be better if there was a heater in it as it was very cold in the toilets and bathrooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice, clean, really loved it
Cons: Nothing to say
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just fine... quality matched the price, communication with stuff was good. The biggest surprise awaited us in the morning when we were leaving. We’ve founded out that we have been sleeping under the stunning waterfall (we arrived during night the day before) all night.
Cons: I would appreciate better bathrooms but nothing terrible.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and neat
Cons: The lack of kettle was annoying.
7.0 Good
Pros: Hotel next to waterfall, parking
Cons: Food quality in the hotel restaurant wasn't worth the price it cost.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the guesthouse, our room had twin beds + bathroom, it was small but had the essentials, it was good value for money. A complete buffet breakfast and the food served in the evening was very nice too. The location was lovely and the guy at reception in the afternoons-evenings was very helpful & nice. Thanks!
4.2 Okay
Pros: breakfast was good
Cons: poorly sound-proofed, did not want to shower in that shower
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The facility was very clean. It's the best deal I've found in Iceland for as much as I got. A private room, a private bathroom, nice views, nice lounge and a great breakfast. The wifi was very bad! Access to hot tub was nice.
Cons: Their wifi is very bad, as everyone else mentioned. It was great when just one person was using it but if more than 1 person used it, it would basically disconnect.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Softest blanket ever!! Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Cons: The wifi was pretty spotty
7.9 Good
Pros: The place is great, and the room really confortable. We didn't have breakfast included, but there was a small kitchen with some stuff we could use.
Cons: The reception is not easy to find - it's a big place and there are two entrances from the main road. It was a bit messy when we arrived at night and we needed help from other guest.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Nothing worked there. No Tv. No wifi. Staff was not helpful. I called the front desk several times with no response.
7.9 Good
Pros: Spacious room for 4 traveller. Cozy.
Cons: Kitchen is quite small for the amount of guests. Other guests with strong food odour.
6.2 Good
Pros: Excellent location near everywhere we wanted to venture to and the staff were very welcoming and kind.
Cons: The two person bed wasn't one bed it was two beds pushed together but only had one blanket and so the bed was extremely uncomfortable and left me falling in between the beds. Additionally and more importantly, the walls are paper thin. I've never been someplace where the walls were so thin. Our room was on the first floor and the set up is that of a hostel and so there were a lot of rooms and a common area above us and it was impossible to sleep. We asked people to be quite but even the sound of someone walking echoed and made the biggest sounds making it impossible to sleep almost the whole night which was miserable after being up driving for so long and needing to be up for breakfast that's only served from 8-10. The walls were so thin we could hear every footstep, everyone's conversations, and dishwater and furniture moving all night.
6.8 Good
Pros: New construction cozy
Cons: WiFi didn't work in the "hotel" section
