Helpful concierge desk. Very helpful indeed. Very small issue, of when we received a tiny bottle of ketchup in our room, which was opened / partially used. I'm sure it was an oversight, but it would probably offend an infrequent traveller.
The Staff was very polite and helpfull.
Excellent hotel, clean, modern. Concierge was very helpful. Internet was free and reasonably fast. Location is a little away from the main sites to see but relatively close to Kyoto station. Overall, excellent place to stay. Please do not bring your kids here. The entire hotel was generally excellent for adults, business travelers, solo travelers, romantic getaways. Exception was that there was one family with possibly the only children in the hotel running/stomping around. Not appropriate. Please don't bring your children, this is not Disneyland, or at least keep your children under better control.
I like the design of the hotel the most. Lobby area is very spacious and nice. Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms are very nicely decorated with simple zen design. The bathroom area was very well planed and nicely done. The restaurants were not up to their standards. The food was average and the price was certainly high.

Staff service. Room view for the amount of money paid, overpriced room service with not so high food quality
Rooms nice modern and spacious. Great bathroom and shower. Staff all spoke English and extremely nice and helpful Everything
Gor the courtyard room as requested Staff complained that i booked with kayak ..no starpoints or status night or no late checkout or no other benefits. This unlike my gold status and the fact that i stayed there 4 times over the last year....
Charge for pool use.
Superb facilities and attentive staff. Prime location for visiting Kyoto. Much appreciated the shuttle bus.
I liked that it is close to Gion, but at the same time it was 5 minutes further away from Gion and the city, so it was in an area with less or almost no tourists. The walking tour to the hotel from Gion was special, since you pass through a shinto temple - even at night. Location also very close to park and other temples. We booked this to get a roykan experience and the rooms are furnished according to Japanese tradition - with futons at night and table at day time. For us, it was maybe a too safe roykan experience, because the only thing it gave us was that we slept on the floor and it cost more than a normal hotel. I guess my complaint also is grounded in the fact that the staff took the liberty to ask if it was OK to let our futons be out all day. With that question my illusion of having a roykan experience totally vanished.
Amazing staff, clean rooms. Japan-style room is great! Will definitely stay again.
The staff bent over backwards to do what you wanted or needed. English was top drawer. They made restaurant reservations and helped us locate a friend. Our room was clean, large and modern. We had a western room. It was quiet, and had small touches such as coffee and cold water. We would come back for its location, great staff and good price. Not much. It couldn't do laundry, but the staff tried to find a place that would. It turned out that there's a laundromat just down the way and for less than $5 I was able to do it myself. The restaurant is fine for breakfast but we ended up going to Starbucks a few blocks away.
The location is in a great part of Kyoto, within walking distance to lots of sights and restaurants. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. Bathrooms were huge and wifi signal was reliable. It wasn't a big deal, but the towels were kept in the closet and the hair dryer under the TV? Just a bit confusing.
Well managed hotel. Excellent staff, particularly male front desk agent March 20-21, he would be top notch customer service at any hotel. Room well stocked with toiletries, robe, etc. Nice complementary breakfast with several items selections changing day to day. Great price. Location: between everything and close to nothing. Getting from Kyoto station with luggage is not convenient as you have to wait and change trains, ex post I would pay $9-10 for a taxi. The metro station is right next to hotel but it pretty much good for going 1 station up to Gion or several stations down to Inari (everything else is out of easy reach). Room: window covered with paper panel because it literary faces the wall of another building so effectively no window. Overall: if budget is important that's a great hotel, if you'd rather pay more for a better experience, it is not.
