Pros: The rooms with balconies overlooking the fjord are great. Right across the street from the water. The owners are wonderful people. They are so helpful and accommodating. They helped with tour plans and tickets as well as ferry information. The breakfast was very tasty and complete. Ballestrand is a quiet, relaxing place to stay and this hotel is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the fjords The common areas are wonderful for reading, conversation, napping, or watching TV. So comfortable.
Located in Balestrand, Dragsvik Fjordhotel is by the sea, a 1-minute drive from Sogne Fjord and 9 minutes from Raudmelen. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The location had spectacular views and an extremely comfortable one room cabin to sit in when cold, overlooking the fjord and glacier. You are 9 km away from Balestrand, though there are buses and the hotel will pick you up for a fee. Fabulous breakfast and good, basic dinner.
Cons: Rooms are basic, but have wonderful adjustable beds.
Pros: Terrific in every way! Especially the views and delicious meals! Hard working staff and friendly!
Cons: Waiting too late to rent a car! It’s easy to explore with your own wheels. Although we got a ride to town by staff. And, a local neighbor drove us back to Dragsvic 6 miles from Balestrand. Bravo to the Grandma Who drove us home.
Pros: The view from the hotel was fantastic. We've had local food (salmon for instance) and that was fantastic. Staff was very friendly. We also got a free room upgrade.
Cons: The weather, but that was sadly out of the hotels control.
Pros: Location gives it amazing views of fjords, bays and mountains. Friendly helpful staff. Nice walks close by, both around the shoreline and up the mountain and into the forest
Cons: The hotel is 7km from Balestrand ferry terminal. This means it is quieter, but there are only about 4-5 buses a day to Dragsvik - Balestrand. This meant we had to book their shuttle service.
Pros: Everything !!!!
Pros: Amazing storage and view in our suite
Pros: I liked everything. There is parking, therefore it was very important for us travelling around the are. Furthermore good breakfast in the morning. The bed was comfortable as well. Wi-fi was working perfectly.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
Pros: We stayed in the most amazing room with adjustable beds so you could angle yourself to sit up and enjoy the incredible view. Maybe my favorite place of the entire trip!!
Pros: Wonderful hosts, beautiful food
Located in Balestrand, Kringsjå Hotell is by the ocean, within a 5-minute walk of Raudmelen and English Church of St. Olav. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I liked it all. It was reasonable, convenient, comfortable and friendly.
Pros: Great, smiling, helpful staff. The reseptionist is super helpful and kind, ready to give you advices for fishing spot on the fiord or for some hiking. Just great. The girls working in the cleaning and in the breakfast do a hell of a job, especially the one with red hair. It is super clean, the rooms are wonderful and it is really close to shops and shore. I will come back one day and enjoy again its peacefulness!
Cons: Small details. The building is old and you can see some old wall now and then in the corridors or in the stairs but not in the rooms, which are great. Breakfast is nice but it offer little variety. It could be definitely better. The kitchens are ok but they really need basic tools like cutting boards, kitchen knives, chairs for adults, more cutlery and so on.
Pros: Amazing staff all Around !! Amelia was great and made dinner reservations for us and hiking suggestions!
Pros: stuff is great helper 'always smiling and welling to help '.the hotel is in great location . the view is amazing .very relaxing place.
Cons: i was to nights it was too short
Pros: This hotel was one of our favorites during our 10 day stay in Norway. It was comfortable, clean and the staff were extremely friendly. The hotel also has a kitchen and self service laundry room with washing machine and dryer for guests to use. Good breakfast too.
Pros: Love it. The owner was exceptionally helpful. And, directed me to a wonderful location.
Pros: The neighbourhood was serene and relaxed. The hotel was very casual and family owned and run.
Cons: There could have been a fan in the rooms. We stayed during summer and it was pretty warm till the sun set.
Pros: Clean rooms, although bathroom was still wet, not sure whether was from cleaning or previous guest
Cons: I probably got the worst room in the hotel--had no view, rooms are very small, and beds are more like army bunks--with nice linen. Even tho wifi advertised, couldn't use it, password didn't work. Hotel did have common areas with working Internet, TV, etc, but would be nice to have that in a room. Rooms had no tv, and only 2 pieces of soap. The sink in the bathroom was very low, as designed for a child. And to my knowledge hotel had no elevator, so if u get a room on 4 th floor, good luck dragging heavy bags up there. Lucky I was traveling alone, and stayed there only 1 night. There're better hotels in town, so spend a bit more , and be comfortable
Pros: This quaint hotel has amazing views, a great breakfast and helpful, friendly staff. Wish we had stayed two bightz
Cons: Common areas are a bit dated but the room decor is excellent,

Pros: The history of the original hotel is extensive, the staff wonderful and the architecture, interior and exterior was fascinating.
Cons: The addition in the 60's doesn't match the beauty of the original hotel.
Pros: The room was well appointed. The old hotel is beautiful including the grounds and dock.
Cons: The new hotel building is an abomination on the exquisite village.
Pros: It’s the best spot in Balestrand, for sure. Beautiful views. Food - buffet - was amazing. Stay in the original part of the hotel if possible. Very charming & old world.
Pros: Restaurant food was excellent
Cons: No shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. No coffee/tea in the room..p
Pros: Great location, excellent service, comfortable beds, breakfast included, beautiful fjord scenery
Pros: Excellent location in Balestrand...right on the water. Great staff. Fantastic, but pricey, buffet dinner. The view from rooms in the tower facing the water cant be beat, if in the higher floors (6-8)
Cons: Tower rooms need a refresh. Tour groups can have exclusive access to the impressive historic public spaces, shutting out the independent traveler.
Pros: Stunning location, beautiful fjord views. Amazing buffet dinner. Very nice & hospitable staff.
Pros: Best location of any we stayed at in Norway
Cons: Hotel could have used a concierge during morning and late afternoon times to advise of things to do
Pros: Location and evening buffet was tremendous
Cons: We were a little late in the season.
Pros: The location right next to the marina is perfect. It's also close to the handful of restaurants in town.
Cons: The room amenities were rather disappointing. I would expect a hotel of this caliber to provide shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, etc., but all that was provided was a hand soap dispenser in the by the sink and in the shower. Also, no wash cloth linens.
Pros: The staff and the breakfast were great. It’s in a beautiful spot and has loads of history. We ate there, food was lovely. Rooms spacious and with amazing views from private balcony.
Cons: Rooms a little tired as is the decor & towels etc
Pros: The staff were amazing!
Overlooking the Sogne Fjord, Midtnes Hotel is in Balestrand. It offers free Wi-Fi and parking and a private pier for boats and swimming. Dragsvik Ferry Terminal is 10 minutes’ drive away. Midtnes’s modern guest rooms feature a telephone and a private bathroom. Most have a fjord-view balcony. The in-house restaurant serves Norwegian as well as international cuisine. In summer, guests can enjoy their meals on the fjord-view terrace. The fireplace lounge is an ideal place to relax and chat with other guests. Leisure options include billards and darts. Boats are available for rent on site. The English Church and the Glacier Museum are just a few minutes’ walk from Hotel Midtnes.
Pros: The host was so helpful, even helping us to find my grandfather’s birthplace circa 1883!
Pros: Appreciated being picked up at harbour with shuttle even though it is a short 5 minute walk between the hotel and harbour. Breakfast was good and the location overlooking the fjord and right on the heritage walk was amazing.
Pros: Great location.... quaint accommodations.. Good breakfast...
Pros: Breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety and was even served especially for us earlier than normal when we had to catch the early ferry. The owner is very kind and picked us up at the boat dock and brought us again to the boat dock on the morning of departure. The view in our room was spectacular right on the fjord. The room décor was simple but very crisp, clean, white bedlinen and a small but clean bathroom.
Cons: The weather, as it rained a lot.
Pros: The owner picked us up at the ferry terminal in a van, despite us not having informed him of our travel schedule. This was a boon as it was raining when we arrived, and it would have been painful for us to walk to the hotel, even though it is located only 450 metres from the port area. The breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: Cupboard space in the room was very limited.

Pros: overall, very upscale facility. Very nice breakfast.
Cons: Parking required going back outside to find a city meter machine and placing receipt in car.
Pros: Breakfast was very good. Town hall is very small
Cons: Pay for parking. Agent checking us in didnt mention anything about parking fee, we were there for 3 hours and could have gotten fined. There was a sign, in Norwegian but she could have said "the city controls all parking so dont forget to pay for parking at machine across the street". Also could have mentioned the pub is open at 6pm and this is what they serve. Very few eating places in small town.
Pros: Location was fantastic - close to the bus station and ferry quay. It's a beautiful hotel decorated from a bygone era which we loved. The staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the buffet dinner which was lovely despite the limited choice. Our room was fabulous - view of the city at night over the hills, spacious, superbly comfortable bed and beautifully decorated. We had an early ferry to catch so required earlier breakfast which the hotel accommodated. We were really happy with everything.
Cons: The hot water in the shower took ages to come through and ran out. It was on the upper end of what I would have expected to pay for a hotel in this location.
Pros: The room felt super clean.
Cons: It was alittle overpriced compared to more modern hotels that offered a gym and a better range for breakfast. Eg Thon Hotels in Skei
Pros: This hotel looks like it's stuck in the 70's but in a good way. I didn't mind the feel it had to it and actually liked it. The elevator, the lobby, the room, everything felt nostalgic. Location is right next to the fjord, and great for an evening walk.
Cons: Breakfast was pretty poor, especially compared to other BW's around the world. No omelettes, no scrambled eggs, no baked goods. Parking area next to hotel is public, and costs extra.
Pros: The shower was great. Door fit so there was no leaking on the floor. The room was a good size and very comfortable. The breakfast was good, lovely smoked salmon and fried eggs.
Pros: There was an old worldly charm about the hotel. It was homely with chesterfield couches, comfortable beds and the most amazing view from our room. The rooms were well heated and adjustable, there was plenty of hot water, tea coffee and kettle facilities, a TV and a safe. Breakfast offered was adequate with an appropriate selection of cereal, yoghurt, bread/toast, eggs, avocado, cold meat and cheeses, fish, fruit and something sweet each day. There was OJ, coffee and tea. There was also a coffee machine in reception to use whenever you like. The owner greeted us and was super helpful the whole time during our stay, with recommendations and travelling tips and making phone calls on our behalf. There is paid parking (the same all around town) during daytime hours (about 8-5 daily) and free at night. Nearby restaurants were easy to get to and we’re all yummy! We requested the hotel do a bag of washing which cost 150 Kroner - reasonable we thought (for Norway) and they don’t appear to have laundromats anywhere.
Cons: The shower is small but it’s manageable and does not take away from the rest of the experience.
Cons: The Hotel's parking lot becomes a public parking in the morning and they ticket the car in no time. The reception does not informs the guest about it
Overlooking Sognefjord and just 12 km from Sogndal ski centre, this hostel offers free Wi-Fi and access to a fully equipped shared kitchen. The staff at Sogndal Lodge can arrange guided kayaking and mountain trips, as well as glacier treks. Flåm and the famous Flåm railway is 1.5 hours away by car. Guests at the hostel are just 20 minutes’ drive from Sogndal Airport.
Pros: We were alone in this huge and beautiful apartment. Everything was clean. Because we were alone we cooked a dinner. Kitchen is beautiful, I am still in love with the wooden table in the kitchen. Great value for the money!
Pros: Simple, clean & tidy. Nice shared bathroom. Comfortable common place.
Pros: An awesome hostel in a very good location, close to a lot of grocery stores. Very cute rooms and beautiful common area- with a fully equipped kitchen. Very clean bathrooms- there is a cleaner who cleans it daily. Overall, probably one of the best hostels I‘ve seen.
Cons: The reception is not at the accommodation, but in a cafe close by.
Pros: Very clean and nice location in the town.
Cons: Shower was broken and staff didn’t attend to it even after I phoned to let them know.

Bergen is 3 hours’ drive from the hotel, and the town of Førde is a 30-minute drive away.
Pros: Great view of the fjord. Very nice staff.
Cons: Every hotel one of our hotels in Norway had coffee for guests when we arrived......Upon checking in my husband asked for two cups of coffee and the gentleman said “ Sure, no problem”. He returned and said “I will add this to your bill.” My husband was so surprised he said nothing and returned to our room.... we feel paying $180.00 a night is worth two “ free” cups of coffee. The hotel is in need of refurbishing. It has an odd floor plan. You have to walk a very long way up and down several steps to any room and carry suitcases long distances. The location is the only thing that sells the hotel. It is located right in the fjord.
Pros: Cozzy Hotel! It’s like being at home. And the staff was very friendly. Nice views to the Fiord. You can take a boat for free. Everything was so nice !!
Pros: The location is beautiful!
Cons: Our only issue was terrible noise coming from sliding doors, and a young family above us.
Pros: The location on the fjord. The restaurant near by, "Malin" which was recommended by the receptionist.
Cons: The weather was warm, we had to keep the balcony door open because the window could not be opened. The neighbors in a room nearby chatted loudly in their balcony until late.
Pros: We had a large private balcony with giant sliding glass doors. The washroom was newly renovated. The view of the fjord was incredible.
Cons: No elevator. Plenty of stairs to carry our heavy luggage up and down.
Pros: Very nice hotel (historic over 100 yrs old). People were very good. We like it very much!

Pros: Clean , quiet room on 6th floor with view of fjord
Cons: Elevator broke on check out requiring bag schlep down 6 floors
Pros: Breakfast was pretty good in terms of variety. Room size was decent. Room had a fridge, which appears to be a rarity in Norway. Staff was helpful.
Cons: Even though our room was refurbished, it was quite obvious that it is an old build, and the redecoration wasn't the nicest job I've seen. As a result, the room had a weird vibe - the door was from another era, in the bathroom, the drain on the floor was halway under the bath (looked like a proper Eastern European home-made fix), the fridge was in the middle of the room, the sofa and the table didn't really match, sink was a really inconvenient design, etc. From the outside of the building it appears that we got a room in the oldest part of the hotel that was enlarged later on with new, more modern wings, so this description is only valid for the minority of the rooms. Overall, we had a pleasant stay for a night, and the strange room features were not much of a turn-off, just a bit, well, strange (being from a former Eastern bloc country, I'm susceptible to recognizing refurbished but outdated hotels). Would not call it good value, although I understand that Norwegian prices are of another world.
Pros: New room, very nicely designed
Cons: Storage should be added to the visitor's equipment
Pros: Very nice hotel front desk.
Cons: Lighting in the rooms was a bit dark.
Pros: Big room with modern equipment and some “smart home” applications!
Cons: Poor quality of ingredients in breakfast
Pros: Location, Facilities, Friendly
Located in Sogndal, Vesterland Feriepark Cabins & Apartments is within a 5-minute drive of De Heibergske Samlinger and Kaupanger Stave Church. Featured amenities include a business center, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Event facilities at this cabin consist of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great place. We rented a cabin. It was really big with kitchen, table, couch and fireplace. There is tons of hiking in the area. We stayed two days. They have a hotel too. People in the cabins have access to a pool and work out facility. Very clean and the staff was very nice.
Pros: Big and cozy cabin
Pros: Nice cabin with good facilities.
Cons: No hair dryer in a country like Norway. It is freezing cold. That was very inconvenient.
Pros: good standard of hut with reasonable kitchen bedroom and sitting area
Cons: Bedding and towels extra as is cleaning - ok so long as you remember.
Pros: The cabin is very cute, clean, and the beds are comfortable!
Overlooking the Sognefjord, by Vangsnes Ferry Terminal, this hotel offers a grocery store and a restaurant and pub with fjord-view terrace. Vik Ski Centre is less than 30 minutes’ drive away. The traditionally decorated guest rooms at Sognefjord Guesthotel feature a tiled bathroom with shower. Guesthotel Sognefjord’s in-house restaurant serves classic Norwegian dishes based on locally sourced products. The 12th-century Hopperstad Stave Church is less than a 15-minute drive from Guesthotel Sognefjord. Ferries for Dragsvik and Balestrand regularly depart from the ferry terminal.
Pros: I splurged & got a room with a fantastic view. Couldn’t have been more beautiful. Windows opened & the presence of the Fjord was always with you. Ideal for rest & writing & contemplation. Good value.
Cons: The dinning room also has view of the Fjord & there is an outside patio also overlooking the water. The free ferry stop is near by so one is not trapped d in a his little hamlet.
Pros: Convenient location by ferry, as a one night accommodation suitable. Room and bathroom cleanly tidy.
Cons: The staff is a little harder to arrange because they only partially speak English. The room equipment is a bit outdated and worn out. The bed is very soft. In the room description is a photo with a view of the fjord but I got a room with a view of the entrance and part of the house.
Pros: This hotel is shitt I never recommend any one to use bad manager old man he is everything he is helpless
Cons: Every thing bad bad smell bad people bad breakfast very expensive 150 nok for cheese &jam
Pros: Wide variation of the typical Norwegian breakfast
Cons: Breakfast in local restaurant, but now transfered to same building
Pros: The view from my room was great.
Pros: Well situated for the view and the ferries,
Cons: Difficult for travelling by public transport. Information was lacking, nobody seemed to know the timetables, and some buses didn't turn up at all.
Best rooms in Leikanger (Sogn og Fjordane)
When you stay at Sognefjord Hotel in Leikanger, you'll be steps from Sogne Fjord. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Hotel nedslitt upgrading.
Pros: Fantastic view on the fjord directly from the room with a large window. The small garden in front of the hotel is very nice to sit at the fjord.
Cons: The hotel facility is outdated. The room was very warm because of the large window (no airconditioning). But the window can only be opened a few cm, not enough to get some fresh air. The room doors close with a lot of noise. Most of the guests arrive with a bus leaving very early in the morning. From 6am on, the noise of closing doors keep you awake.
Pros: Cleanliness; staff.
Cons: Small room; minimal, dated furniture.
Pros: Receptionist was friendly. Loved the tributes to the family! Loved the style of the furnishings.
Pros: Good location. Good breakfast.
Cons: Could use a little updating of facility.
