We had a brilliant weekend rate. The hotel is a business hotel and our twin room was perfect for our needs. The breakfast was full self-service and plenty full. Leuven is a lovely place and the hotel is very well situated in town. We had a room out to the back which was blissfully quiet. The receptionist on duty was not very welcoming - she seemed to class us by the rate we were paying and the rucksacks on our backs. Or she was just not enjoying her job.
Good value for money, 61 Euros for twin room with nice breakfast buffet. Parking garage below hotel. Excellent location in city centre. Twin rooms were comfortable, but slightly too small as there were two queen size beds.
The hotel is very central, all amenities are close by, the staff are very friendly and helpful
The rooms and location The staff who was working on sunday was very unfriendly
The hotel was extremely central. THe breakfast was very good. Rooms spacious and clean. All required facilities present. The hotel staff were extremely helpful
More noise from the corridor than usual
Quiet large room very close to centre
Close proximity to the university (central campus), shopping, restaurants without need for a car. The noise from the plaza area in front of the hotel--lasted all through the night and was quite loud at times.
Location Breakfast is too expensive (18 € !)
Location close to City is excelent. More pillows should be provided in rooms for the beds.
Wonderful services, location, facilities and staff. No. I have stayed there several times and it is always a pleasure to go back.
Room 106 comfortable though smaller than room we had on last visit. Bathroom possibly in need of upgrading. Bath tap a bit difficult to control and water emptying from bath very slow. Staff very friendly and helpful. See comment on bathroom.
Hotel staff, garden Access to the parking
Breakfast was excellent, staff attentive, homely atmosphere. Would like to have had tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Nice architecture, historical, convenient to city center.Good breakfast.
Nice overall impression. Considerig that the hotel was build in an old Monestary, the rooms very not very well isolated, causing big differnece in temperateure in diffierent parts of the room.
Nice furnishings and friendly people.
The lovely grounds, freindly staff and the bathrobes
we found the staff courteous ,friendly and helpful. It was an excellent example of a small friendly and very comfortable hotel. One lack is the absence of a comfort tray ie tea/coffee tray in the room.
Very attractive dining room, excellent location
Nice ambience, nice people at reception, the artie breakfastroom Reception looks kind of cheap at first glance Cleaning starts early and noisy (our room was next to 'Dienst'
The staff was exceptionally helpful and very friendly. They provided helpful and accurate information on the local transportation schedules and always came to the desk to greet us when we came in. The breakfast (included) was quite good, with many selections to choose from, and presided over by a lovely and friendly manager.
Comfortable room, friendly staff, central location. Excellent all-round
Unusual split level was attractive. Would be nice if the third bed was on the lower level and the sofa upstairs to relax with TV. Everything was excellent
I found the staff to be very helpful. Breakfast was outstanding!
The clean and spacy rooms, and the very polite staff
The perfect location neear the centre of Leuven
Thye staff were very helpful and friendly in this conveniently situated hotel Noise in the street by late- night party-goers
Very good position, hotel staff very helpful, good breakfast A disturbing smell from bathroom during the night. The rooms are not very well acoustic insulated, so you might hear what's happen with your neighbours.
very nice and welcomig staff. small rooms, but yet very well furnished there,s was an akward smell that sometimes came out of the toilet?
cleanliness of hotel and central location noise transmitted from other rooms
Staff was very friendly Restaurant was a bit too small. Some days there was not a table available for having breakfast...
Helpful and friendly staff. Efficient reception and rooms clean and well maintained
Location Expensive, pokey car park with very tight access
small room, bit congested. No fridge in the room. Breakfast should have been complimentary. Friendly, helpful staff. Budget accommodation for a single person.
Nice clean bathroom. small room and needs insulation (one can hear everything going on in other rooms and in the corridor) - otherwise good. Please note that the "Fair" comments above are not complaints, as I did not expect the Ibis to be a 5 star hotel.
Friendly staff. Very nice room.
very close and conveniently to the centre; all you need when staying for a short in the big city
Feeling at home ( 5th year we stayed at the IBIS ). Staff very friendly and helpful ( especially Joost ).
Value for money, pleassant staff
Very friendly receptionist helping at the desk after late arrival. Room was poor of furniture and athmosphere/ old sixties.
Wired internet is comfortable, and small refrigerator is available, bus stop is nearby, and staff is helpful. A blanket was not so good, and people in 4th floor must use stair.
Friendly & helpful staff. Several items in the room were missing or broken. Requested they be fixed but not taken care of because it was the weekend.
The location of the hotel meant that the centre of Leuven was within 10 minutes. Parking of the hire car was easy, as I could park almost in front of the main hotel entrance in a metered parking space (free overnight as long as the car is moved by 9am) The light switches in the room were strangely configured so that I could not turn off the bedside lights without going to the main switch by the door.
We loved your staff and your services. Your staff were friendly, knowledgable, and willing to help us get around the city. Your hosted breakfast was wonderful as well, and it added to the value of our room. We will recomend Hotel New Damshire to all of our friends when they visit Leuven. The only problems we had were the intense smell of smoke in our non-smoking room and the sound of construction in the morning. We realize that there is not much you can do about the latter, and we were very satisfied with our stay.
the hotel staff, the fact that is very near to Oude Markt and Begijnhof The street is a bit noisy
The bed was good and the staff was very helpful. I liked the breakfasts.
Excellent breakfast - friendly & helpful staff. Excellent location for town centre. Room heating controls confusing and without explanation.
Helpful staff who are friendly and very honest.
The friendly and helpful staff, the location, our room with balcony and the wonderful breakfast.
convenient for Leuven railway station smoking room
Room was comfortable and quiet, and breakfast buffet very good.
Great staff - particularly Guy. Nice breakfast Didn't like single beds pushed together when I was assured a Queen bed. Rooms overheated and couldn't regulate temperature.
Friendly people. Close to centrum.
For Leuven, this is a really nice place with attentive staff, spacious room, quiet location and they really provide an exceptionally nice top quality breakfast included with fantastic assortment of meats, cheese, fruits you would find at a 5-star hotel. Not far from the main train station, perhaps a 5-10 walk and also not far from the center of Leuven or meeting rooms at the University. A very good value. I was able to compare to the IBIS in Leuven, and this is a much better choice.
Very neat and clean. Buffet breakfast out of this world with super service Location - close to station and university Room can become stuffy, how about placing fans in the rooms - aircon is not sufficient
Good Breakfast - lots of fresh fruit. Helpfull, friendly - walking distance from station and Grand place - a bit backstreet - but safe ---and hell who cares. all OK ......not brilliant ....but practical
helpful staff, location close to the train station, safety deposit box in the room small and noisy elevator
Breakfast was good WiFi was not free
Its position in Leuven, and the no-fuss freedom it allowed
None Unfriendliness of personel and staff
It is a safe area. But in general Leuven is a safe city. It is OK to stay for a short period of time. Location is not very convenient, though it is a safe area. The room is clean, but the bed is really uncomfortable.
The apartment at St. Maartenstraat 12 was nice, spacious and in a quiet location. In the beginning the staff (young male) was not very friendly but another staff (lady in the next office) was very helpful and tried very hard to find a suitable apartment for us. We booked One Bedroom Duplex Flat at Dekenstraat 87 but what we were offered when we arrived was totally unaceptable. The flat was very small, with a bedroom on mezzanin (upstairs) and a tiny dark bathroom. Eventually we paid extra and moved to a nice business apartment at St. Maartenstraat 12. This took a lot of time and negotiations.
The friendliness of the flat No
The staff was very flexible with check-in times and the kitchenette was well equipped. The bed could only be reached via a narrow stair which was situated in a tiny corner of the room.
location, price no internet connection in room, despite promise
Description on web accurate: A student flat with a kitchen, bathroom, etc. We stayed in the dual level flat with the bed upstairs. Kitchen had enough to cook for yourself. Bathroom was stocked with towels. Little items not cleaned up on arrival, had not been vacuumed in a long time (all floors dirty but tolerable).
Location Room decor, very dark.
The location of the hotel was great - literally across the road from the train station and the breakfast was very good. I arrived at around 9 p.m. and the entrance of the hotel was not lit up so you have to walk right up to it to find it.
The courtesie of the staff
The room was very spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and fresh. The best thing about my stay was the breakfast, it was delicious.
Electric volatage transducers from 220 to 110 V should be equipped all hotles in Booking.com.
This hotel is located just accross the street of the Railway station in Leuven. The value for money is good and the staff/owners are very friendly. Recommended!
The staff is pleasant, the room is clean, and the location is good.
Very convenient. Clean modern room and bathroom with a view over the square. Good housekeeping of room each day. Breakfast good. Room would have benefitted from addition of bedside tables, individual bedside lamps, comfy chair(s), tea/coffee facilities. Tricky to find until you realise that it is in the popular De Klimop restaurant in SW corner of the square.
Location Wireless internet is available but not free (as in hotel info), in fact rather expensive.
good location and good rate smell in the room
Its location, price & cleanliness The building is quite old so the rooms were not as sound proof as in other hotels. This however was very understandable & was not too disrupting
The flat was very roomy and a great bargain for the price. I'm sure we weren't the only people to find the hotel only to learn that we needed to go to another part of the city for check-in and keys. I suggest putting this information at the top of the email, not at the bottom as one does not expect to read something this important at the bottom of an email, so it is very easy to overlook.
It was nice having an individual apartment, within walking distance (15 minutes) of the train station. It made for easy access to Brussels. I did not like the fact that you had to travel to a different location in order to retrieve the keys for the apartment.
The apartment was very spacious, clean and comforable Having to pick up the key more than 1km away is very inconvenient
These are flats that are intended for longer stays, so they are quite large, and have their own kitchen. You have to get the key from somewhere else! This is mentioned in an email that is send after booking, but not on the booking pages themselves. Although it is not that far away (a 10 minute walk) it is a pain, especially with luggage. It also means there is no-one available on the site itself in case of problems.
nothing special, it is not hotel but company which rents flats. The flat I got was ok, with TV, shower, fridge, sofa, kitchenette. It maybe good for a couple or family who plans to stay long and rather cook then go out for food.
Clean. Helpful staff. Quiet neighborhood. Vending machine. Leuven Station to City Flats Leuven(where we had to check-in) is more than 1.5km. And it's very hard to find the hotel. Staff was very kind and helpful though.
The Hotel is centrally located, but it was dirty, the bathroom was especially very dirty.
location of the hotel
Large, clean and well equipped room. Close to central Leuven. Quiet location
A proper reception service would be a big help! I arrived late, sent a message beforehand. I got a reply how to get in but I left by then so I could not read it. Which was actually different from what was described on the website.
Good breakfast, staff let us get breakfast just after it should have timed out. friendly. Location is very good for the 1-2 day visit to Leuven, park by the station, walk 40 ft, you're at the hotel, and you have a range of good restaurants and bars to choose from. It's across the street from a train station and it's in a happening college town. Some street noise is unavoidable.
It was comfortable for short stay visit - lose to railway station and good connection to meeting place in IMEC. elevator is advisable, in the case of large luggage
Good location-next to the train station and also close to the centre The internet connection was not good at all in the room
These rooms have all been recently refurbished to a superb standard. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Liked the wide screen lcd tv.
Very bad internet connection. WiFi does not work in the 2nd Floor.
Great location, small but nice single room Quite noisy in the night because of a neighboring night club. Internet very slow / unusable sometimes
Helpful staff, excellent bathroom, clean rooms, nicely decorated rooms, perfect location Bad outside view from the room, occasional smell coming from outside, no stairs, no airco
Clean and nice, good taste for the colours. Compact and nice fasilities. Expensive and if it is not for the business I would not stay.
The evening manager when I checked late in was excellent. The room had a 'used' wet washcloth in the bedside drawer which I had to get the bag out of the bin to pick it up and take it to the cleaning staff (you dont want to touch or see those kinds of things really)
big bathroom and very nice renovated rooms with decent coloring schema, right across the central station avoid room 305, you may smell the kitchen at certain times during the day when opening the window
conveniently located opposite the station the shower was connected to the bath tap but there was no shower curtain or wall fitting so it had to be hand held. Not goot.
The main room was nice, if basic; staff were helpful when I reported problems. The location was very convenient, close to the station and the bus station and only a short walk to the city centre. There were no towels in my room, I had to go down and ask for them and it was some time before they appeared. The light in the corridor wasn't working, so I had to grope my way to find my room in the dark. There was a split in the bathroom floor, so it bounced while I was standing to clean my teeth. The reception seemed very short staffed, so every time I went down to ask a question I had to wait a long time, either because of a queue in front of me or because the only person there was on the phone. There was a lot of noise from the terrace below, there seemed to be parties in at least two cafes and the music was very loud until almost midnight, making it hard to sleep for business travellers.
The staff was extremely helpful and the location is excellent. We had to use a fan as there was no cross venilation in our room.
The location, near to the station which was convenient for the purpose of our stay. The breakfast was okay Yes, the staff was not helpful. They hardly spoke. The room had no airco and was pretty hot. The hotel is a little outdated (some areas are classicly nice though). The bar/restaurant personell was not providing service. Long wait times.
Location was very convenient, very close to the train station. Breakfast was nice. The room was dark and not nice to stay in. But OK if you just need a place to sleep.
Location, price Poor shower (leaked), noise from outside
The hotel is close to the railway station, and includes free wifi. Reception staff were helpful. The room was adequate but certainly needed redecorating. One light in the room didn't work and one socket was blackened and looked like there had been a small explosion - I steered clear of using it! The shower tray nearly overflowed it took so long to drain. It was quite hot in the room on the third floor, but when I opened the windows to let in air there was a lot of traffic noise both late at night and early in the morning. Breakfast was adequate but nothing exceptional and only one member of staff occasionally appeared to refill orange juice and milk.
Cleanliness Price. The 95 euros for double room is quiet expensive.
The location across from the rail station was very convenient; the breakfast was ample and tasty; the hotel restaurant and bar was attractive & comfortable.
Breakfast of a high standard. Staff efficient. Cafe closed on Sunday
The location is very central and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There are no no-smoking rooms.
Good breakfast, friendly service My room was not non-smoking and had a slight musty smoke aroma.
Right in the middle of town. Basic but clean with pleasant staff and the breakfast is sufficient to curb hunger pangs. Rooms are above a cocktail bar, which was not a problem. But be warned this is a university town and we got caught in" freshers" week so the external noise was obtrusive. But if you want a nightlife location this hotel is well situated.
Although the accomadation was above a cocktail bar, there was not too much disturbance from noise as it was a bustling, busy establishment with plenty of character. It was very pleasant to go downstairs to enjoy a drink before retiring
central position, large room with TV, large bathroom with enough facilities, large windows that openet into two different streets. Good breakfast in any amount. There is a pub in the first level of the building, which is dusty in the evenings and sometimes noisy. Breakfast was served only from 7.30. Fustiness in the room.
good location to noicy
The breakfast was good. The room/floors are old and should be renovated. Floors were very 'squicky' and you can hear any slight movement. I didnt have a good night sleep becos of noise/movements.
Only one room was reserved instead of the two that were confirmed
near station and centre cracking floor on corridor
Easy to find, and a nice area No
