Although Clyde House doesn't have private parking it was easy to park in the nearby Pay and Display car park and very reasonable prices too. Visit the Garden Centre next to the heritage railway station a short easy stroll from the town centre and don't miss the chance to go to the Garden Rooms at Tennant's auction house premises - take in any concert on offer (our reason for being there) and view any free exhibitions (another reason for our being there - exhibition of quilts) or examples of items coming up for auction. Clyde House is a delightful place to stay, spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, nothing too much trouble , welcomed with homemade biscuits and fresh milk - no horrid UHT milk here! Comfortable beds, crisp white cotton bedding, clean towels every day. Then the breakfast!!! No lunch needed and almost no other meal all day either - great choice of cereals, fresh fruits, yoghurt, fruit juice and cooked breakfast par excellence - beautiful bacon, sausages and all the trimmings and eggs cooked to perfection however you like them - smoked haddock and poached eggs on offer not to mention kippers, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and equally good provision for vegetarian guests - all local suppliers named. Sean and Heather are superb hosts and we thank them for giving us a splendid weekend's stay and will be back to stay very soon. Thank you both!

Pros: Good location, friendly staff, quality accommodation and nice breakfast.
Cons: I have none.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hazel Roost and the lovely host Milly. This a beautifully presented B&B with a gorgeous nurturing feel, filled with original art and craft and the souvenirs of the hosts worldly travel. It truly felt like we were valued guests in Millies home. The room was well appointed and spotless, the bed comfortable and the breakfast delicious.
Cons: I've never said what I didnt like before, always looking for the positive. BUT. This town needs to have a good look at itself. I understand this is a farming community and those in that line of living find tourists annoying. However there are inumerous B&Bs here so I think those in that line of business will be better served if the rest of the community get on board. The guy who runs the only pub is rude and bad mannered beyond belief. Of the few townsfolk we encountered, one of them was arrogantly disdainful and another downright discourtious. Trying to find our way to the public footpath, which is so ridiculously hidden it is obvious the locals don't want it, we wandered down a small private road and were insulted for our ignorance. The town has no facilities to aid anyone wanting to have a wander around. Not a streetside footpath in the place. The beautiful river and old mill falls are completely inaccesible. Frankly the town had the air of an isolated and distrustful cult still worshipping some dark earthy God. I've seen movies about places like this.

We will have to come back again some day!
