Safestay Lisboa Hostel

We paid half of what other hostels were asking and we got what we paid for. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen seemed well stocked, although we didn't end up using it. There's charging stations at every bed, and lockers underneath the bunks but you need your own lock. The locations is great because you're kind of in the middle of the main hill. The downtown area is just below and the main bar and food area is just above. So it makes going up and down the hill a bit easier.

As others have stated, there is a lack of showers as the second floor showers are being renovated. Toilets weren't a problem but try to avoid showering in the morning as many people were waiting. Also there seemed to be something wrong with the room placements. My partner and I (as well as other partners we met during our stay) were separated into different rooms. They told us they tried their best to put us together but were unable since they were fully booked. However, I arrived and the bed below me was free. As I was about to ask the front desk the occupant arrived. But she arrived after me so it would seem they could have put my partner and me in the same room. But i gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then the next night when I returned to my bed after spending the day out, someone else was using my bed. So I went to the front desk to ask, and they said that the system had moved my bed the second night. But I was not informed of this during check-in. I had to go down and ask. It wasn't a big inconvenience, but just adds to the problem of not being in the same room as my partner.

Nice hostel, 5 minutes from the metro station, easy to reach by public transport. Big bedrooms, clean and comfortable bed! The staff is really friendly and helpful, especially Paula, David and Joao(he is my hero, I complained about night noises and he intervened immediately! I didn't say thank you enough, sorry man!! :) ) Plus, they provide nice activities (i.e. free city walking tours) and in the hall there's a cheap bar with a terrace where you can chill. Too bad I didn't get to stay longer, I had a great time!

The hostel has no elevator and there are a lot of stairs to do. I injured my ankle during my stay and it was a bit uncomfortable. What I didn't enjoy much was the people being loud at night nearby the hostel and the bedroom lockers which are really uncomfortable to use. There are also few showers,compared to how many guests it hosts.

In general, I can recommend this hostel, it is located in the center, you can walk to the promenade and main attractions, near the train station. The reception is open around the clock, the hostel is cleaned every day, clean, the kitchen has all the utensils, free tea, coffee and fresh bread.

The hostel is on a raised platform. To enter, you need to go up the stairs and find yourself on floor 0, and then go up to your floor, there are a total of 2. In the hostel, a system with a card requires a card to open the door to your room, just don’t enter , there were often problems with the card, it didn’t work and had to go down, and then go upstairs, also, if you accidentally forgot a card in your room, you need to wake someone or go to the reception for help. There was a problem with cockroaches, I saw it on the first day and this is disgusting, perhaps if I knew about it, I would not choose this hostel. Cockroaches are healthy, Madagascar, look at the sizes with google, it's like a thumb. Fortunately, I met them only 2 times per week stay. What I didn’t like was that they constantly cleaned the refrigerator and threw away food, yes, I forgot to write my name, but the food was fresh, why throw it away, you can put it out or write a note, half of what was bought was thrown out: cooked soup, sausage, canned food, tomatoes, half an onion, a full glass of sangria, half a cabbage, spaghetti, maybe something else. These are material costs. There were other people who were outraged by this.
