Pros: We spent a month in northern Spain and one of our main goals was to visit the Picos de Europa area. Villa Elena located in Potes was the perfect place to stay. We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed a week. Elena is a gracious hostess and her homemade breakfasts are to die for. We stayed in the deluxe double room with a shower on the upper floor in the front of the villa. The room was spacious with a lovely enclosed porch. The bed was very comfortable and the room so cozy. There is a lovely patio area in back filled with flowers and the yard is filled with fruit trees, The old town area is a ten minute walk away. We drove to Fuente De and rode the funicular up the mountain, hiked trails in the area and explored some little churches nearby. The scenery in this area is beautiful. On our drive to Covadonga we stopped in Cain and hiked part of the Cares River trail - gorgeous. We enjoyed our stay with Elena and hope to return again someday. Thank you, Elena, for your warm hospitality and for sharing your beautiful villa with us.

Rooms are bright and beautifully furnished.

Pros: Superb country house on the edge of small village. Very comfortable room. Good for couples or families with young children.
Cons: Possible issue for some people is that the nearest restaurant/bar is 3km away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were a lovely couple who made you feel at home immediately. It was not overpowering as their accommodation was to one side of the lower floor and the bedrooms were upstairs. Lovely old building which the man had renovated over 10 years, in beautiful surroundings. Breakfast for €5 per person per day was well worth it. It was so tranquil sitting on the terrace watching the cows and listening to their bells and the views were tremendous. Great way to start the day. Not loads of food but all nice with a little home-baked sweet treat at the end. The chocolate brownies were great! Obviously need a car but soon get used to the trip either to local village or Potes which is much larger. Will be going back next summer.
Cons: Can't think of anything. Usually wherever we go there is something we don't like, so it was good not to have any problems this time

Pros: What a wonderful welcome by the owner!! He took a lot of time to explain everything: where to go hiking, best restaurants... the rooms are perfect and clean, we even had our own balcony with a breathtaking view of the mountains. There is a terrace where everyone can relax. There is an honesty bar (not expensive at all). The Restaurante la Vargona very nearby is possibly the best food we had during our entire vacation!
Cons: Everything was perfect! The drive up to the B&B is quite steep, however even with my Mercedes Viano it was possible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved my stay here. Antonio is an excellent and generous host and spends a lot of time helping with walking routes and explaining about the area. The views are amazing and the house is at the top of the village in a valley, so very quiet and serene. It was the sort of place I wanted to spend all day in, relaxing (but instead I hiked up mountains and ruined my knees!) :-)
Cons: I had the luxury of being alone in the B&B for a few nights. The only slight negative was that when neighbours arrived I could hear them fairly clearly through the walls.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The view from breakfast room. Mountains are beautiful there
Cons: The flies that filled the bedroom. We had to keep the windows closed without AC to keep the bugs from filling the room. Not all rooms have a view like stated in listing. Be careful to get a room with a view. The drive up the hill is not for the weak of heart.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything about the place, a lovely building, friendly hosts, comfortable beds and excellent breakfasts in an outstanding location .
Cons: The road up to the Posada is very narrow and steep through a historic village, it is worth the journey, but a little nerve wracking the first time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this place was superb! Antonio the host was extremely friendly and helpful and made a lot of effort to communicate with us as we don't speak Spanish. The house was in a beautiful location right next to the mountains, with horses right next door and a perfect little balcony / seating area. The cleanliness was immaculate! Each morning Antonio made us his special pancakes which were delicious. It was home from home.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very spacious and clean. The views of the mountains and valleys from the garden are magnificent and the garden is quiet and chill. We spent most of our time there and it was so relaxing. The breakfast is really good with lots to choose from, particularly good were the homemade traditional pancakes!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place for hiking in Picos de Europa. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Wonderful breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. If arriving by car, be prepared for a steep drive on a narrow paved road.

The woman in the 'Casa de la Naturaleza' in the nearby village of Pasaguero was very helpful and informative. She recommended several hikes in the Picos close to the posada.
Cons: The floorboards in the bedroom were a little creaky. It is not possible to walk to nearby restaurants in the evening. But fortunately the posada restaurant was very good, so we just ate our evening meals there.

Hostal Remoña - Espinama - Bedroom
8
9.4 Excellent (221 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Remoña guest house is located at the entrance to Picos de Europa National Park. It offers free Wi-Fi, and is within a 5-minute drive of the Fuente Dé Cable Car. 8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rustic mountain hotel with simple accommodation just as it should be for the setting and the price. In a great little village with enough food + drink options for a multi day stay. Charming staff/owners. If returning to the area - and I will - I wouldn’t trouble to look further than the Remona.
Cons: Nothing really. Oh alright - a rubber bumper on the low lintel above the loo in the single room might save us chaps a bump on the head! Otherwise, perfect for what it is.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived, it occurred that they don't have our reservation and they don't have a room for us although we booked a room about 8 months before the arrival. They said that there was an error in the system. However, the owner immediately found us a room in another hotel on the other side of the Street (Posada Maximo), which was more expensive and said that he will pay the difference. We were also offered free breakfast in Hostal Remona. Breakfast was good. There was a wide variety of things to eat.
Cons: Breakfast starts at 8 am, which is a little bit late if you want to go to the mountains or be in Teleferico Fuente De before it opens at 9 am to buy tickets. Breakfast should be at 7 or 7.30 am. There were too many things for breakfast and there was not enough space for them on the table, so it was hard to get them to your plate and it caused queues.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service was impressive, recently refurbished to a high standard, good parking for motorcycles

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is incredibly beautiful, the views from all the rooms of the inn are breathtaking, and the breakfast is quite generous and tasty, everything is clean and so quiet. The owner is attentive and super nice, and you are not that far away from Potes (we left the car there to relax and drink at night at the city). It was a lovely escapade.
Cons: Unrelated to the propierty: do not trust the GPS to get there! Follow the signs on the road to get there. If not you can end up in a kind of dead end.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the view from the room was amazing, big windows on both sides. Breakfast on the outside terrace with a view on the mountains. The owner helped us out with some car problems, which we really appreciated!
Cons: We spent 3 nights with only one set of towels. When we put two of the towels in the bathtub in order to get them changed, they took them without replacing them. Another thing was we told them we were vegetarians, which made them take away the ham at breakfast. However, we would have appreciated if they would have given us something else instead on the second and third day. We were in a cheese producing region after all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location stunning. Breakfast and view perfect.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Posada el Bosque is a delightful mountain retreat with spectacular views which, from our room, were dual aspect! A short walk along a portion of the Camino Trail took us down into the local town of Potes which offered a variety of places to eat by the river or among the quaint alleys. The climb back to our hill-top haven worked our muscles but was worth every step! A generous breakfast set us up each day to explore the mountain passes, monasteries, villages etc of the Cantabria/Asturias region.
Cons: It may be worth pointing out to fellow motorcyclists that, due to the mountain location of the guest house, the parking is on a steep incline!
6.3 Good
Pros: Our stay her was good and our room was very clean and well kept with daily top up of shampoo and shower gel, the towels and linen are very good quality, the views are stunning and the hammocks are great too relax in but mind your head with the falling apples....
Cons: The food was plentiful but the same most days and not included in the price, ham, cheese, toasted crusty bread, jams, sugared Yorkshire puddings and always another form of cake, so got a little boring, the beds are really hard so if you like that you're good to go, and the walls are really thin so you hear everything from the other rooms, including toilet visits.. The swimming pool wasn't cleaned while we were there so we only went in once as you could see a layer of debris on top with lots of dead insects in after a couple of days. This isn't a place to come if you have walking difficulties as it's a very steep walk down to Potes and remember you have to come back up, unless you drive it each time. Also speaking Spanish is a bonus as Jose doesn't speak English and it seems our translator on our phone wasn't that good so communication was brilliant.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room, the easy pace of life, the swimming pool.
Cons: Cake and reconstituted ham for breakfast, the heat in our room at night (unseasonably hot but will be more common due to climate change).

Pros: Absolute gorgeous property near walking distance of Potes- which was great for evening meals. Jose was great and helped us a lot, he had a really sweet dog! Accommodation was clean, pool was lovely and views were spectacular. Would love to come back again.

Pros: The location was beautiful. The views from the room were breathtaking. Lovely breakfast (additional cost) served outside if you wanted.
Cons: Nobody there when we arrived and no contact number left to contact anyone. Another guest had to give us a contact number. Noise carries easily especially showers running, toilets flushing etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host Jose was perfect. No issue we didn't a word of spanish and he didn't speak a word of English, there is generally universal language and actions which sufficed. Location is amazing - out of town, perfect for relaxation which is what we were looking for! Breakfast was perfect, well worth the €6 pppn!
Cons: Room could have done with a fridge to keep the Cava cold!!!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location in the Cares River valley. We drove to Cain itself, but be warned the road is very narrow (only wide enough for one vehicle at a time) and with lots of blind bends as it follows the Cares gorge from Posada del Valdeon. Most people start the Cares Trail in Poncebos to the north but we wanted to do it differently! The accomodation was excellent, very comfortable room with a great shower and impressive automatic skylight. The evening meal (el menú del dia) was great value for 12 euros. The thing that really made our stay fantastic was our host (Ramiro), he was so helpful and friendly! We will come back and probably next time we will start the Cares Trail in Poncebos and overnight in Cain at Hostal Casa Tino again. Thanks Ramiro for making our stay great.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was so nice and extra accommodating for me. I am vegan, and he made me a special dinner that fit my dietary lifestyle. He also know I had been backpacking with only a few clothes and offered to wash my dirty ones for free. I have never felt more welcomed at a hotel in my life!

7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a very nice environment with the mountains just in front of the swimming pool. Staff is efficient. Restaurant is quite good overall. Service at table is nice. Swimming pool is great ant the view wonderful.
Cons: The rooms are small, with old furniture and there is absolutely no privacy. Isolation between rooms is absent and you can hear everything. You can also hear cars passing by. With a little renovation the hotel would gain in quality and comfort for clients.

It is situated just past Potes and quite private.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location for a motorbike tour of the Picos, safe place to keep the bike parked overnight, road outside the hotel is one of the smoothest and curviest in the area. A ten minute trip into Potes for a bit more life on the evening

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a comfortable hotel to stay in while visiting the Potes/Fuente De region. It is located on the road to Pembes which doesn't get much traffic and so the location is very quiet.
Cons: While the optional breakfast wasn't very expensive, it was rather simple as well. We would have been willing to pay more for a more complete breakfast given that we were hiking in the national park all day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay in Pembes. It is a really cute village with easy access to the Picos and many hiking routes nearby. There is the possibility to enjoy the beautiful garden of the guesthouse but the rooms are also super comfortable if you are not so lucky with the weather. We had a beautiful view over nothern spain´s landscape and a mountain. The house was really clean and the breakfast a good but Spanish breakfast.

Pros: Stunning location, lovely owner, yummy breakfast
Cons: A bit far from restaurants for dinner, but this may be an off season issue.

Pros: We loved everything about this place: location, people, food, the flow of time... totally recommend.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Superb walking. Local knowledge was excellent and offered without having to ask.
Cons: Hot water seemed to only be plentiful at certain times of the day. Bath was more like a shower tray and shower was only a hand held ‘over the bath’ type.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great location for hiking in the more western PixelMaster A GREAT LOCATION from which to hike in the western classic of Los Picos . The old village of Soto is a very good glimpse of the traditional ways of rural life. We were able to enjoy a guided cultural and ecological tour of 4 hours for free with two national park rangers which starts at the hotel apparently every Tuesday. Another takes place on Thursdays. We did two other full day hikes. Meals were tasty and ample and good value.
Cons: While bathroom was spacious bed room was a little cramped. WiFi was I.intermittent in room and internet slow to non existent but that's the mountains.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: For a hostel this really does deserve its high rating and felt much more like a hotel. Excellent location deep in the Picos De Europa it served simple tasty home cooked regional food. The mattress was first class and the linen good. The en-suite bathroom had a little bath as well as a shower. Wi-Fi was strong and the roads to and from the location added further joy to our biking road trip.

Pros: This gives true value for money. The facilities are certainly not luxurious, but everything works. GIven this purpose, the hostal does everything you could ask for, and more.

Pros: Although a hostel, this one was way better then many hotels on our way through Spain and Portugal. Very nice and cosy, quality equipment and very clean. Breakfast was very good and varity of choices. All prepared freshly and top quality. We got really good advice for restaurants and activities. They are also prepared to help you reach the right people. Anything you need just ask. This was a perfect stay. If you are travelling through or near Peak of Europe or Rinha. Make this detour and take sometime. Spend it in this beautiful hotel and village. You will not regret.
Cons: Everything was just perfect.

Pros: Great location in the mountains (calm). Very helpful landlady - Cristina :-) Nearby bakery :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: New and ultra-clean hostel, with comfortable beds and good showers. The owner is very helpful and hospitable and can advise on local walks and offers a laundry service. The best bit is the lovely bar/cafe attached and the home-cooked food. Delicious and excellent value. Also essential, as the other restaurants in the village rarely serve food. Lovely bakery opposite too.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The owner was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Beautiful location, accommodating and friendly staff, we met some great people. Best hostel we've ever stayed. Was very clean and we felt safe.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very new and spotless with comfortable bunk beds and secure lockers. Good shower and simple breakfast make this fantastic value.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is an Albergue (which is spanish for Youth Hostel), and a well run one at that, but it is not a hotel. The sleeping is in bunk beds with up to ten people in a room. There is only one shower, toilet for each room that can make for a bottle neck in the AM. Like most places in Spain, breakfast is coffee and toast or coffee cake. Not a lot of protein. That said, Bulnes is a spectacular setting, and well worth visiting for a couple of nights with a hike into the heart of the Eastern Picos de Europa. For the young and rugged there is a steep ascent to a refugio followed by one of several possible descents that makes for an exhausting day. For the older and less rugged there is a more gentle valley taking one into similar unforgettable terrain. Two nights there is all you need.
Cons: It's always a challenge to get a good night's sleep with 9 other people snoring or getting up to use the toilet during the night. But hey, that is what you sign up for with an Albergue.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: it is amongst a small group of houses, very quiet , except for the sound of the river, and the cows with their bells that wake you up at dawn.
Cons: room did not have a view of the beautiful valley
7.5 Good
Pros: simple hostel without much comfort. Friendly and cosy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful hostel in a wonderful location. Adolfo the owner, who is super friendly, keeps it in tip top shape. He also cooks great, filling suppers. A perfect spot to launch hikes into the mountains. One of the best experiences I had on my trip.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Decent mountain refuge in an excellent location.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is really good if you want to go hiking and enjoy the mountains. The owner put a lot of effort into it. Everything was clean and really modern.
Cons: Kitchen is only open for one hour and there isn‘t a common area. The owner just speaks spanish. One shower and one toilet is a little bit to less for 10 people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a small hostel in a tiny village without anything open after 20. Order the food in advance if you want to eat. For the price this place is hard to beat. The staff (Adolpho) was very helpful and nice, he seems to do everything himself.

If you stay make sure you have dinner in the hotel because the food is incredible!! Location is perfect for hiking in the area and all of the surroundings are beautiful.
Cons: Everything was fabulous.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything, but we shouldn’t say that, because then more people will go there and it could spoil it! The walking in the Picos was superb and the hotel was just great. The roads in and out are really narrow, steep and windy. The staff and local people are very helpful and friendly. The food is delicious.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.

Pros: The location was stunning and the staff helpful and friendly.
Cons: The beds really need more pillows. Sleep was broken sometimes.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely attractive guest house set deep in the countryside (ideal for walkers), though slightly off the beaten track. Great view from the window. Very clean.
Cons: Sauna and hot tub not in use, pool nice and refreshing but only big enough for 2-3 people. No air con albeit this area does not tend to be as hot as the north coast so we didn’t need it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice small hotel with a good atmosphere. Beuatiful room with great beds. Very friendly staff. Nice little swimmingpool.
Cons: Could have been nice if it was possible to eat dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was a little borring and could be upgraded with some better bread, egg and bacon etc.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located in beautiful setting in a small village in the mountains. There was a great view from the room balcony. Although I didn’t use it, the pool looked very nice.
Cons: The breakfast was not good and there are no other options. There are 2 restaurants in the next village over and the one we tried was also not very good. There are many other restaurants in the area but it is a bit of a drive to reach them.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel- we were unlucky with the weather
Cons: Rain
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent large chalet accommodation, very helpful hosts.
Cons: It was all good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The bed, the staff and above all the views from my room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were lovely, the place was beautiful, clean and comfy, great water pressure in the shower, and the breakfast was delicious! We didn't take breakfast the first day, thinking we could just get something in Potes, but that was truly disappointing and difficult. When we had breakfast at the Posada the next day, it was such a pleasant surprise! Fresh-squeezed orange juice, toast and jam, local honey, fruit, delicious cheese and excellent coffee. Totally worth it!
Cons: When driving to/from Potes, Google maps navigation took us on some sketchy "shortcut" which I do not recommend. Staying on the paved road takes maybe 2 extra minutes and is much better! Really nothing not to like about the hotel itself. :-)
