Pros: Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable it has a fire place in the sitting room, very cozy and rustic.
Cons: No WiFi. Another the bad thing is that they require guests to clean and dry and put away all dishes and crockery in the kitchenette, if not a daily cleaning charge would be incurred.

Pros: Perfect. From the friendly welcome, to the well appointed and cosy accomodation, to the excellent breakfast and proximity to boutique wineries, Thistle Hill Guest House is a winner. The clever and thoughtful inclusions such as; a cheese platter and bottle of wine on arrival and home made brownies for a morning tea treat personally delivered, make Thistle Hill a place that you will want to return to. I highly recommend this beautiful Guest House. We will be back. Thank you, Donna and Stuart, you are amazing hosts.

Pros: Madeline was so lovely, very helpful when trying to work out travelling between wineries. Location was great, right around the corner from most popular wineries in area. Stayed in the cottage on the property and was so nice and homey- definitely recommend staying in the cottage. The shared kitchen was great, ate out but also made a home cooked meal one night with all the right facilities. Isabella (the cat) was a nice cuddle buddy.
Cons: The wifi wasn’t great, kept dropping out in the cottage, it may be different in the other rooms- but was nice to be offline during our stay. Some of the movies they provided in the shared lounge were very scratched and didn’t end up working.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a fabulous stay for only one night and very much wished we could have stayed longer! We stayed in the loft above the cellar door. It was much bigger than we expected and had a lovely view over the vineyards in the morning. The location was a convenient and short drive away from towns like Rutherford and other wineries. Our host greeted us for a seamless checkin and was very accommodating of our travel schedule. We had a beautiful selection of fresh fruit and a homemade loaf of sourdough (which we took with us on the road and enjoyed throughout the weekend!) waiting for us. We can’t wait to come back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What's not to like?! The place is very true to its name, very tranquil. If you are looking to wine-down and get away from the big smoke then I highly recommend this place. Views of the vineyard and the back drop of the hills are breathtaking... especially when you have it at your doorstep on the back porch of your cottage and taking it all in with a glass of wine. The cottage we stayed in was very cute and clean. So homely and comfortable. Loved the open plan and the abundance of natural lighting. We travelled in winter so the fireplace was an amazing feature. The owners were very welcoming and lovely... especially their friendly dogs that greet you at your car. We stayed here for two nights on a girls getaway from Sydney. Loved the fresh loaf of homemade sourdough and that the breakfast was provided using all homemade or locally sourced ingredients. So much love and care has been taken into the property right from the maintenance of the grounds to the care of each property right down to the complimentary toiletries. We are planning to stay here again very soon. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable. We cant wait to come back.
Cons: That we had to go home...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful getaway. Extremely clean and well equipped cottages with lovely homemade sourdough for breakfast!

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place to stay for a weekend away! Booked this accommodation with a couple of friends, while attending a music festival in Maitland as we are from Sydney. Beautiful scenery along the way while driving, as well as the property view it self! Quality service from Connie (staff), she looked after us very well & was so sweet with our breakfast package! Two cute doggos as well! Would love to come back again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A perfect setting. A warm welcome. Lovely room, very comfortable bed, power shower and a delightful balcony overlooking Tranquil Vale vines. We were given a personal guided tour of the wine making facilities by our host including wine tasting. It was a real pleasure to buy a couple of special bottles to imbibe later. What more could anyone ask?
Cons: Nothing! Cannot improve on the offering.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent owner who gave us a free wine tour and was very helpful in suggesting other tours and restaurants. Amazing included breakfast. The room as clean, spacious and such a comfy bed! Set in a beautiful area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Friendly owners, comfortable room and all at a gorgeous location - we honestly couldn’t fault a single thing about our stay. The loft room was very clean and cozy with a very comfortable bed and lovely linens. Plus, a breakfast basket is provided on the first day with amazing homemade fresh bread, fruit, milk and yogurt for muesli. The vineyard is beautiful and we wish we could have stayed longer (or on a warmer weekend!) so we could have taken advantage of what looked like an amazing pool and tennis court.

Pros: The location and the style of the cottage is great. Also we like how clean it was.
Cons: There was no WiFi, which would have made it excellent. Also the cottage is in some need of minor repair and maintenance
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfy large living area with fireplace, perfect for groups. Fantastic views from The outdoor patio.
Cons: I have to say that we a little disappointed to see our cottage is non-detached and seem to be different to the photos from the websites or in booking.com, a bit misleading. The views are fantastic surround the properties but being blocked by a tennis court.

Pros: The owners (Gay and her husband) were absolutely delightful. So caring and kind and hospitable and their property is lovely. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and 5 star - better than in many good restaurants! Especially the ricotta pancakes .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts. Provided good directions to Hunter highlights. Closely located amongst vines. Central to Hunter. Best meals in the hunter.
Cons: Nil
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Gay & Warren were very welcoming & informative about the area. Beautiful house & very clean. Amazing breakfast!!!
Cons: The mattress was very soft but this is a very personal point! Unfortunately the hot water pump broke & we didn’t have hot showers but I’m sure this will be fixed quickly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing gourmet breakfast. Loved the design and styling throughout their home, it made it feel comfortable and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was also very clean. The property was well taken care of.
Cons: Nothing. It was perfect.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was probably one of the best I have ever had!!! Such a lovely atmos & friendly couple. Fine if you want to keep to yourself but we enjoyed their generous and respectful company! The downstairs cellar has been turned into an incredible cinema!!
Cons: The 'King' bed was 2 singles together and could have been firmer. It was a drive to anywhere for dinner so we had to think about who was driving each night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What can I say about the most relaxing trip my husband and I have had since becoming parents? Gay and Warren are the most beautiful couple. Nothing is a bother and they go above and beyond to help but allow you all the privacy you need. When we arrived Gay was there to greet us and spent nearly an hour mapping out the local area and where we should visit. Just so incredibly helpful. We found every single one of her suggestions to be exactly on point. Couldn’t fault anything. Her suggestions were so fine tuned she even knew what food to try at each location. The rooms are spacious impeccably clean and very comfortable. Your own private ensuite allows for optimal privacy. Our room included a bar fridge and Nespresso coffee machine which Gay affectionately refers to as a “George Clooney”. Great little additions such as Port and glasses as well as fresh biscuits and tea selections. We stayed in the room “Shiraz”. The breakfasts at Cooperage B&B were AMAZING! First morning , we were greeted with hot coffee and fresh fruit salad, gorgeous yogurt and a variety of museli. This was followed by a second course of Eggs Benedict with fresh warm Turkish bread paired with slow roasted Roma tomatoes. Piping hot and just heavenly flavours. Coffee constantly being poured and freshly squeezed juice. The second morning was just as amazing!! Our room opened up onto a balcony with table and chairs over looking the vineyard. So picturesque. We enjoyed some cheese and wine we had purchased (recommended by Gay) and relaxed in the afternoon light. As if this wasn’t enough Gay and Warren have converted the wine cellar into a home theatre. Just such a great idea. We enjoyed a movie after a night of incredible food. They have provided a large library of movie options! Overall I would give a rating of 100/10. You must try for yourselves!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house was beautifully decorated and the rooms were wonderfully charming. It was such a quiet and relaxing place to stay, and the views over the valley were simply gorgeous. The local towns and wineries were conveniently accessible yet far enough away as to not intrude into the peaceful silence of the house. We loved the attention to detail that Chris and Joe have put into their place, and they made us feel very welcome; they made us feel like friends rather than customers.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable and enjoyed watching the many birds in the morning from our balcony. Breakfast delivered to our room by Chris was a treat!
Cons: Google maps! The location was difficult to find, especially with no internet connection, a map would have been helpful.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The owners were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay great, nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: A little far from restaurants but worth it for the early morning views.

Cons: n/a
7.9 Good
Pros: Lovely location. Very comfy bed.
Cons: We arrived to the hunter valley early so we could have a chat with our hosts to get an idea of the area and good vineyards to visit and also put some bubbles and food in the fridge. However when we arrived at 1230 there was no one around. Really needed to use the bathroom and were in an area where there’s not much around. I understand that you have things to do but your also providing a service and Charging a lot of money not to have someone there who can help and answer the door.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was ample and delicious and the view from the room was amazing. Would definitely stay here again !

8.3 Excellent
Pros: There is a great plain in front of the bungalow. Great to take a walk early in the morning.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Very quiet. Close to a great vineyard (next door). Great for a short or long walk through vineyards, hopping on a bike or just driving around, sampling some good wine. Great host, greeting us personally and taking his time to explain the property and the surroundings.
Cons: Lack of kitchen equipment, especially no hotplate to cook something for a nice bottle of wine. Two single beds pushed together as a double bed were extremely uncomfortable, definitely a no-go for a re-booking. Property needs to start looking a bit into maintenance as it starts showing the need for some TLC here and there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great property great people great stay

Cons: The outdoor lights stayed in all night.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Maybe a restaurant on site would be great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: the view was lovely. The staff were brilliant and helpful. The bed was comfy, with clean linen and extra blankets for those cold nights. The mustard armless chair was epecially comfortable and i liked that heaps.
Cons: unfortunately the shower head in my roon was broken, so there was no choice but to use it as a hand held. Due to no fault of the host the wifi in the rooms was unavailable Strangely, the kitchen - cooking utensils like tongs, colanders, and chopping boards, but no actual facilities to cook on: no stove, no electric frypan/wok - so its great to give you a juicer to make fresh OJ but nother to cook bacon and eggs with :(
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the room and the friendliness of the staff
Cons: Nothing everything was good
7.9 Good
Pros: The location and surrounds are great. The manager helped us out with the BBQ and what to see in the area. Room comfortable and clean Animals outside the door was really good to see

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The fireplace was so cosy. The quite location and rural setting were so restful. Very close to everything in the area. Very well laid out villa.
Cons: Perhaps a few more kitchen utensils.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Amazing staff, great service, personal touch for guests, amazing modern facilities kept in great condition and clean, great location, secluded and exclusive feel, romantic, friendly, perfection!!
Cons: Nothing!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff were excellent and the food at breakfast was good.
Cons: Many things wrong: the so-called luxury suite for $509 per night was way too expensive for what it was, which was cold, south facing and dark; there were only two tiny windows on the walll facing north; the restaurant (which unfortunately also faced south) was in a separate building about 50m away and the walk to it was cold; there was no heating in the ensuite; the plugs in the ensuite bains were ineffective; there was no noise insulation between the bedroom and the ensuite; the doors to the ensuite did not close properly; the carpet on the stairs was worn; the idea of fireplace was sound but it was difficult to operate because the safety gauze had to be lifted in one hand leaving just one other to use the poker - provision of tongs in addition to the poker would have helped; the facility was too far away from the main things of interest in the area.

Pros: Everything

Cons: The room we were given (815)was small, decor was bad, bathroom was very old and outdated. Shower over bath at nearly $400 a night was very disappointing. Mini bar fridge was very noisy and ran most of the time. After relating our disappointment to Will on reception (very helpful and polite) we upgraded to the garden room which was wonderful. Exactly the standard of room I would have expected with the original room?!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful, room, hotel, restaurant
Cons: Can't think of anything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Bedrooms were comfy and clean. All the staff were really helpful and friendly.
Cons: Bathrooms could may be do with updating.

Cons: In room 10 the curtains were off the track, the lounge area wasn't very comfortable and the windowsill in the lounge area was very dusty and dirty. In another room on a previous occasion the curtains had come off the tracks which lets in the light in the morning.

Pros: 5 stars all over Great property Nice and secluded
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful property! Immaculately maintained, and Terese is the most delightful host (in spite of my error in missing the booking deposit!!). Great location with lovely surrounds, could t recommend highly enough!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, very clean, great set up with everything you need for a weekend away!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It's in the middle of the wineries so it's quite convenient to go to visit other wineries in the Lovedale area. This place is in the middle of bush-land so no neighbors around that you need to worry about noise complaints etc. Beds and pillows are comfortable and kitchen is quite spacious for a family with a dishwasher.
Cons: The walls are quite thin, I can hear other people's snoring when I was siting in the lounge not a big deal if its family. The bedroom that is close to the bathroom gets to hear every move in the toilet / shower next door!! So I guest it's better for a family to go together. it's only one bathroom so we have to be very considerate in the morning to share with 6 people again not a big deal if its family. There was also no hand-soap or shampoo in the house, so bring in your own otherwise the closest shop is in Cessnock.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely facilities, lots of space. A wonderful place to stay.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner (Terese) was very friendly and quick to reply to any questions. The house was clean and well stocked, and had everything we needed. Close to all the wineries. Even had two green tree frogs visit! And a fox run by.
Cons: Everything was great- we couldn’t find any sharp knives until we realised there was a secret shelf in the dishwasher hiding them all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, excellent air conditioning. Nice touches with some spices for cooking in the cupboards and water bottles next to the beds. All other amenities were great
Cons: A sponge in the kitchen to help clean up would have been helpful, but there is a dishwasher. Also the oven door doesn't shut fully.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely cottage with enough space for the 6 of us to comfortably enjoy the weekend. A great location - it was very quiet and peaceful, but also close to all the local attractions. The host, Terese, was quick to respond to any queries prior to our stay and was kind enough to offer a complimentary night''s stay. We had a lovely dinner at Tatler Tapas, which was within walking distance of the property.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location . AC in the living area .
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location sitting next to the Tattlers & Binet wineries. The house is very roomy. The beds are very comfortable. Communication with Therese was great and we were given lots of recommendations for places to visit as well as eat. Parking is on site and the grounds and surrounding countryside is very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely be back
Cons: Bedrooms were a bit warm in the night and the owners have advised that they are installing ceiling fans in the rooms. That will just put the icing on the cake and make this property top notch.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really like the garden outside n the food in the restaurant
Cons: It could be better if toothpaste and toothbrush are provided
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We didn't have breakfast. Enjoyed our dinner the previous night, and were not hungry in the morning.
Cons: Room 42 had only 2 powerpoints which were accessible: -- one was under the desk, on the wall and almost on the floor which meant my plug for charging my phone would not fit. -- the other was in the bathroom, high on the wall beside the toilet -- very awkward but managed. Using the coffee machine in the morning was quite an exercise -- propped it on the corner of the wash basin -- hardly fitted! Could you please arrange for an accessible powerpoint in the main room please? I can't imagine that all your business clients have similar poor access for their IT equipment.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing loved it all ! but the coffee machine was crazy no one could work it without help from the staff Our room and the view was just beautiful ! Can"t wait to go back
Cons: that we only had one night there and it was too cold to use the pool lol
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the staff, they all had smiles and a greeting and could not do enough for you. The location is perfect with beautiful gardens and views. The presentation and overall condition was very good, everything works.
Cons: The surrounds in the pool area was dirty(food scraps) and they were there for a few days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were great very friendly and helpful
Cons: The gym equipment was poor especially the treadmill
7.5 Good
Pros: I think you should have a better choice for breakfast
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable experience. Staff were excellent & helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: great for a weekend stay
Cons: coffee in the room not to my taste
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful and polite. The position was great with stunning view. The lounge bar and buffet breakfast were awesome.
Cons: Cleaning in the room needs improvement. Our bathroom was dirty with black long hair left in the shower from previous guests. The glasses were dirty (we had to clean them before using them). Same for the coffee table. There was a lot of dust everywhere, and found rubbish behind the bedside table. With the price you pay, it would have been nice if they left in the bedroom couple more coffee pods per person, and also replaced the milk. The walls are thin and you can hear other guests’ conversations. At 2:30am we got woken up by the girls from the room next door (returning to their room), which kept making loud noise for a good 30 minutes (until I banged on the wall).

Pros: Very quiet and a lot space,a great view on a lake and kangourous, comfortable and peaceful. Hight celling, cowhide rug, woodfire(not in the room) made a perfect ranchy atmosphere. I would recommend it.
Cons: No service, cleaning over the weekend.

Pros: The place was wonderful. Really easy check-in, a beautiful breakfast in the fridge, views of the lake, clean and comfortable room, lovely hosts! It was also great to be able to bring our dog!
Cons: Loved the whole stay - no complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ian the owner of the tonic was an amazing host he helped recommend the best wine tour He went over and above to make sure we were happy the breakfast was exceptional it was topped up daily The unit itself was beautiful with exceptional sunset and I mean breathtaking I will be booking here again
Cons: There was absolutely nothing to complain about
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I love the hotel, and it is very comfortable and clean. I love the location, the size of the bedroom, the bathroom, it is beautiful and very clean, it has everything that you need for this level of hotel.
Cons: The breakfast is not what they mean to. They leave things in your fridge and you do your own breakfast, it has everything, milk, coffee, juice, fruits, and there are appliances so you can do it. It is not like a regular hotel, so, I prefer have my breakfast outside of the hotel. This wasnt very clear for me, and the fruits on the fridge wasnt fresh, some o f them already spoiled.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was excellent, clean and spacious. Very peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend Tonic and will stay here again.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location, serenity, simple essentials
Cons: Maybe just needs a small leather lounge in the room But not much else to fault
5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bungalow and newly appointed inside. Parking right in from of room. Breakfast supplied in the fridge.
Cons: Upon arrival we had no instruction on what to do in our booking confirmation, there was no reception, and the owner didn't answer the phone so we were stuck wondering what to do for around 20 minutes until the owner showed up. Strange calling it a hotel when this is not a hotel, rather, bungalows. Not exactly in the thick of it. Lots of driving to get to where you want to go. View is great but interrupted overlooking a high voltage transmission line running through the property right in front of the bungalows. There is a separate shared lounge area with a fireplace but the owner gave us no info on how to access this.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely peaceful setting. Owners friendly and prompt at responding. Beautiful and comfortable rooms. Would definitely stay again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super clean. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Nothing. All good
7.1 Good
Pros: It's a practical place to stay, and given that many places don't accept bookings for one night at the weekend, it's okay and reasonably priced.
Cons: Well, you can't change the view, but the view of the Big W carpark is not very exciting... Also, we booked a bigger room (Queen superior or something) cos it has a bath. It was fine, but the lounge area was a bit dowdy and not somewhere you would really want to sit. Standard room we had last time was actually nicer.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The beds were very comfortable and the room set up for family of 3 good (including 2 TVs). Location in heart of town, near supermarkets & cafes very convenient. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: Would have liked microwave at least on same floor. Having to go to laundry 2 floors down not ideal when trying to heat milk... Air conditioner in our room very noisy. Had to turn off (luckily weather not too hot/cold)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good location, comfortable bed. Good for a one night stay.
Cons: Fire alarm warning made me self conscious to use the kettle in the room. There was written no notice to keep the door shut during showers as this could set the alarm off which I did not like as the bathroom was small.
7.1 Good
Pros: staff very friendly, bed comfortable
Cons: Breakfast not included if you book with bookings.com ONLY if you book direct with the motel. Also no pool and no restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The close proximity to everything
Cons: Could not fault
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the location. Very friendly, accommodating staff. It is in the heart of Cessnock. Easy walking distance to everything

10.0 Excellent
