Great location, great price, friendly staff, great breakfast,,,,,,,,great selection of TV stations they should include sample bottles of shampoo and conditioner, and hard bar of soap (only liquid soap was provided).
Excellent Receptionist, good Breakfast no restaurant, no room service
The breakfast was good , lots of variety and we ate there for Friday night dinner which was a great spread for the money. No free internet
The atmosphere was relaxed and staff polite and the check out time good No tea/coffee making facilities in room; noisey fridge; cigarette smoke smells despite the fact that smoking is illegal - clearly not enforced
The location of the Eldan was very convenient for sightseeing - this is its main strength. It's a clean, quiet basic hotel with simply-decorated rooms. The staff was very sweet although not especially knowledgeable. Breakfast was mediocre (in quality and variety) by comparison to every other hotel I stayed at during this vacation.
It is at the best location if you want to visit the "Old City" The staff is just ok.....
The location is great and the price was right.
Exellent location, quiet and clean streets around (although there was some build works nearby but I believe it'll end some day :)) anyway it wasn't a trouble), 10 minutes to Old City, 10 minutes to Ben Yehuda str., 10 minutes to restaurants and youth cafes area. Clean rooms, very friendly and helpful stuff - thank you! I'll stay here next time I visit Jerusalem!
Location is excellent- easy walk to the Jaffa Gate & in a nice neighborhood. WiFi is available, but expensive; buffet breakfast needs variety & the instant coffee tastes awful.
Overall it was very great, For an environment that is very comfortable it would've been nice to have had amenities like water and fruit, or at least water extended in the room each day of the stay
Very poor hotel - under all viewpoints.
amazing staff, beautiful hotel, perfect location
Food was very good The room and bathroom were not clean
Internet service and Mikva facility should be included for the price we paid for our room.
We got rooms not according our reservation
We love the Leonardo because of the great service, the homey yet luxurious feel, and the magnificent views of Jerusalem. The breakfast is unmatched and the location is great too. The only downside is that you have to park your own car. Overall it's a great hotel with great prices.
Reasonably quiet, friendly, very nice lobby, culturally very interesting. Staff were friendly and did not impose service. Lobby was beautiful, and rooms were comfortable but not up to date. E.G., tiny, old crt television. Phone in the bathroom was wired to a wire coming out of the ceiling and running down the wall (I.E., a retrofit).
Very helpful reception staff. Comfortable room. Parking was provided; something that is not always there even when a Hotel states it is on Booking.com Emptying the bath resulted in the bathroom floor being flooded as the floor drain could not cope and backed up. This was spotted and the draining of the bath regulated to avoid it backing up. Had I not seen the problem the room would have been flooded! Went to breakfast and found virtually every table left in a mess. On leaving the Hotel one hour later, it was still in a mess. Not impressed!
the location: close the Old City, my interest; the staff was really very helpful and welcoming, I love them :) Well, I learned from Palestinians that the rate I got is quite high compared to alike hotels in Jerusalem
The staff was fantastic. Willing to help out at all times. Fixed our room for us hours early when we arrived in the morning and provided us with cappuccinos! They only complaint I have is that the lighting in the rooms is not bright enough. It actually made packing difficult.
This hotel was very clean, comfort and staffs were so kind and gentle. If I have another chance to visit Jerusalem, I'll pick it up for my hotel. You have see a dish of fruits in your room. I enjoyed Al-Watani (?) cafe as well. I can recommend this hotel if you are not Jewish. The only problem of this hotel is location. If you arrive at night, it might be a problem but if you come to hotel in a day time, I don't think it is a serious problem.
the hospitality and friendship of the staff was excellent, the location and cleanliness perfect
Hotel was at an excellent location - only 5 minute walk to Garden Tomb and 10 minute walk from Jerusalem's Old City Demascus gate. Great location for exploring the Old City and Mount of Olives. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast that was included with room was great - lots of variety and high quality. Overall a great value. Would stay there again on a future trip to Jerusalem's Old City. Had difficulty accessing free wi-fi from room and lobby. But hotel had a small business center and was able to use their computers to get internet accesss.
Room was not clean. Was approached in lobby by panhandler demanding money.
I was very surprised. My room was very big, clean and quiet. There was a mini fridge and private bathroom/ shower. The food restaurant in hotel is also very good and desserts are awesome. Surprisingly, the hotel is only 7 min walk to north gate of City. It is in Arabic part of City, but I found all the little shops interesting and people kind. The biggest plus to me wet hotel staff, they made the stay so easy and the front desk spoke very good English. The front desk lady "Nirvana", is incredible helpful for providing travel advice and help with any tour bookings you want make. I was surprised they always remembered the names of their guests!!! Great stay. Would stay here again
beautiful, modern decor
Conceige services were great rooms were dramatic, but a little small
Two helpful and charming young ladies -- one Polish, one Israeli -- on the service desk who offered helpful recommendations on restaurants and tours. The breakfast buffet provided an excellent selection. The hotel is some 5 minutes walk from the Jaffa Gate into the Old Town, so ideal for visitors wanting to spend time wandering around there. Although our Booking.com reservation said clearly the hotel accepted Diners Club cards, on arrival I was told this was not the case and that nothing could be done but present another card. Some hotel staff seemed almost totally disinterested. Overall, the atmosphere was very impersonal. The room was small and the washbasin area in the bathroom was very cramped with little room to place toilet bags.We certainly did not feel we were in a 5-star hotel.
exceptional food, exceptional interior design and furnishings, excellent location staff not on par with the cutting edge design of the hotel
The lobby was much too cold. Reception answer in English not Hebrew. the tables in the lobby look nice but very uncomfortable touse. Much too low.
waiting staff were great its unfinished - ridiculous.
Great contemporary hotel unfortunately due to only recently opening all facilities were not available during our stay. Good location for visiting both old and new city.
Beautifully designed and specious rooms, excellent location, walking 2 minutes to amazing old city of Jerusalem, and 5 minutes to lively city center and night life.
Design of hotel and rooms with great location. Staff needs training in breakfast room, including how to make espresso. Spa and pool were not opened.
The hotel lends a nice reprieve from a long day of sightseeing and compliments well with the "fairytale-ness" of the city. The breakfast offering is vast and well worth waking up for to have a good kickstart to the day. Although well-designed, the staff and service was not quite up to par and seemed grossly inexperienced for a five-star hotel. They could not think beyond textbook answers to solve problems. With complaints on several occasions, different members of staff did not call back when they said they would get back to you, on things as simple as a wireless password. Front desk was of no help when I tried to extend my stay, and only offered a room in the event I upgraded as they were sold out. However, I managed to get a room on my own online.
my experience was a good one at this hotel. the manager and assistant manager are very eager to please. whatever the problem or my request, i had 3 people running to my room trying to make me happy. i recommend this hotel too expensive
The breakfast bar was really nice. Floors were dirty. Didn't provide shampoo, coffee maker, etc that normally is provided in American hotels.
Location, location and excellent location
the service, the manager and assistant manager are very eager to please. and they did.
Location is perfect, the building itself is quite unique, staff is friendly & efficient. the rooms require some refurbushement.
The hotel was very nice, and intrinsically interesting from an architectural standpoint. Staff were helpful and breakfast was very good. Its location is hard to beat for access to Jerusalem's Old City, which is an easy 10 min walk. They had lost my reservation, and it took awhile to straighten that out. Fortunately I had printed out the confirmation and an email I had received from the hotel. The receptionist was nice, and persistent in her efforts to find it once she knew I was telling the truth.
Location was ideal! Hotel had water pressure and heat problems several days. Restaurant was poor.
The rooms were clean and large enough for couple to spread out a bit. The free parking in Jerusalem was appreciated as was the good choice of food for the breakfasts. The staff in the dining area were very helpful and polite. The exercise area was well maintained and big enough that you didn't feel like you were stepping on the other guests. The location was close enough to the Old City and the downtown that everything was within easy walking distance. The atmosphere of the hotel was very warm and made us feel like we were getting a bit of the Old Jerusalem experience. I'd recommend this hotel to friends and stay there again. The staff at the front desk were not very helpful and their behaviour would be considered rude by most people. They could use some training in how to treat people. The parking area for the hotel is very poorly signed. It took us a half hour to find the entrance even after the man at the front desk drew me a map (I think he wasn't sure where the entrance to the underground parking lot was because he placed it on the wrong street). Once inside the parking garage there was no shortage of signs to let the YMCA guests know where to park.
The location and atmosphere The facilities are a bit worn down
location near to old town the bathroom was very dirty
The hotel is centrally located. The public areas are spectacular. Breakfast on the terrace can't be beat!
the location was excellent, the room confortable and the dinner was great The lady we first met was very unpleasant.Itis a shamethat she should work in such a place. The breakfast was rather poor.
the general exprience was good, the location is great. A graet deal for a good price. the service in the restarurant needs improvment although the food was good
The combination of an ancient beautifull building with good facilities, a fantastic restaurant. Its close to the old centre and has a nice, international atmosphere. The name YMCA makes you think its a youth hotel with backpackers but once there it is an hotel of international standing with guiests off all over the world. (very easy accessible by car).
Hotel Yehuda was clean, well-designed, and the staff was great. It's close to the Biblical Zoo, which we took our 2-year old to, and he loved it. It's a bit far from the Old City
Very nice hotel, courteous stall, excellent dining, highly recommended!!
The staff was helpful and friendly. Unique hotel that I would visit again.
safe, very comfortable, relaxed for female travellers, professional for business. Nothing. I miss "my home" in Jerusalem.
I enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The staff were, without exception, friendly, welcoming and always ready to help. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The unique nature of the building, and its classic historical decor, make it a welcoming oasis in a busy city. No, I thought it was perfect.
Location is prime (near old city), good picturesque restaurant (Arabesque) and summer bar, nice pool, good choice of TV channels. Good staff albeit sometimes appearing a bit inexperienced. Tapware difficult to moderate (hot/cold, quantity/flow of water), towels not so plush, amenities in the bathroom subpar (smell [like disinfectant], wrapping soulless), business center not open 24/7 as indicated without explicitely having to ask, pool opening hours (only until 18.00).
The atmosphere and tradition. It is becoming bery expensiev
An excellent staff made our stay particularly nice. We made a couple unusual requests and the professional staff at the American Colony stepped up without hesitation to provide for our needs. We hesitated before booking in this location but found it to be very welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast provided was also fantastic and diverse even by Israeli big breakfast standards. Our only less than stellar comment is that the selection of books and literature in the gift/book shop is very one sided and partisan. This shouldn't have been totally surprising but given the excellence and absence of political statements everywhere else it became noticeable. A great hotel.
It was in a very beautiful setting with helpful staff.
It is always a delight to stay at the American Colony. There is a wonderful atmosphere, the gardens well planted and tended and the service very good. If I am to be really picky, because I was not well I had a chance to notice the dirty white curtains in room 10. Because of the water shortage, it would be sensible to have a plug in the basin!
Very nice hotel. A bit expensive. Great open areas.
All of the staff were very nice. The history and architecture of the hotel creates a fabulous ambience. I especially enjoyed the morning buffet in the courtyard. I did not want to leave.
the room was amazing, also the food, the service and above all the design
The rooms and architecture. Felt like old Jerusalem vs. modern hotels.
Location and the cleaning up of the room. Parking good and necessary. The girl in the front desk, that work in the morning is very kind , helpful, and try always to help The was bad smell in the bathroom sometimes. The breakfast was not good, no toaster for example. And the second morning of our stay, it was a very bad smell of onions at nine o clock in the morning, that was really unlikely. In the hallways and elevator the floor is cover with a very dirty carpet, they have to remove it The bathroom in the room was very small, without space to put your things
We made a reservation a half hour before we needed the room. The staff was welcoming. Our room was dirty and unkempt. The sheets and beds were fine, but the whole room was a little dusty. The toilet was clean, but the bathtub was dirty with mold around some of the fixtures.
The room had a great view but smaller then I anticipated, after seeing he pictures The staff tried to accommodate I would recommend it for a short stay
I liked being in walking distance to most of the things I wanted to do. Also, being a woman alone, I felt very pampered and guest services were great. I was disappointed that the exercise facility was not open but the alternative (Maxilla) was fine.
Pool. Breakfast. Location. Staff attitude. Room Cleaning service Facilities upkeep
The comfortable room and bed, and the pool and breakfast, and the view form the terrace. I think you should put pens in the rooms, and not pencils.
Beautiful hotel, excellent service, and wonderful location. The rooms are lovely and the food was wonderful. Staff members were charming and helpful. The hotel is expensive, but this is true for the better hotels in Jerusalem.
Location. New building. Although they really try, the service is not what it should be.
The hotel's location is excellent. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was extensive and well prepared. Service was awful. We had to ask for additional towels each day and, when they were brought, they weren't the number or ones we had asked for. Service at breakfast was abymal. We had to continually chase after the waitstaff to bring us coffee and replenish the cup throughout the meal. The room was made up very late in the day. This consisted of a "turn down" which really was not that as the bed was never made earlier. The carpet was filthy, the shower stall was never cleaned, and soap and facial tissues were offered only sparingly. The hotel definitely does not deserve its five-star rating.
Location was superb
The hotel is first class and excellent service. The location is very good and close to the Old City. The rooms have their own doorbells. It was great.
The staff was very friendly. location is very good, the room was net, clean and comfortable Nothing really, maybe just a bit overpriced.
Nothing Staff attitude. Cold decore.
good service for Israel. Expensive for the standard. Pool small and facilities only average
Hotel that differs from others. One may relax just exploring the hotel by itself. City center and Old city are close. Jerusalem is located on hills anyway. Therefore one must be prepared for climbing and ascending. Too many steps on your way to distant rooms. That makes difficulties when with lugage.
Hotel is excellent
The view was magnificent. The location close to Old Jerusalem was perfect, as it was walking distance. The breakfast was great and the room was very nice. Parked for free on the road. Great hotel for Jerusalem visit, especially for Old Jerusalem.
Breakfast, gardens & terraces The rooms & corridoors need some "refreshment" / upgrade
Location, next to the Old City of Jerusalem. Price for food (buffet dinner) is rediculously high ... for what it offers
The view/swimming pool/massage/proximity to the the Old City
the views, the gardens and the pool. Personally they had a spa but I did not partake and therefore I cannot comment. As in most hotels in Israel, the concept of service is lacking at best, although overall, I'd rate this hotel above average compared to most. Although the breakfast buffet was excellent, the shabbat dinner that I organized for 12 people was mediocre and expensive.
Location and helpful staff. value of money.
Beautiful rooms, great view and very friendly staff. We were there with our four children and could not have asked for a better place to stay. The hotel is just 15 minutes walk to the Old City (Jaffa Gate) through some pleasant traffic free gardens.
The hotel was beatiful and in a good location, it was quite easy to get into the old city. Breakfas was very good too. The staff was not as friendly as I would have expected for the amount of money that you pay per night. I woudl say it is too expensive for what they offer.
However there was no concierge at the Dan in Jerusalem And there was one available at the Dan in TA. That was helpful as the staff in Jerusalem did not seem to be knowledgeable on info re: dinning out.
Great location, wonderful breakfast and the room was very clean. Staff was nice and accommodating.
The clientele were unusually intelligent, diverse and courteous. The staff were really intelligent and courteous too .
pretty convenient to the old and new city bathroom wasn't great, we were put in smoking room after requesting non-smoking, long walk to restaurants, quite expensive
Front desk staff very kindly allowed us to check out late the day of our plane -- 8 pm. Thanks! Breakfast was very good. Lobby lounge is very nice. Most of the staff seemed like they didn't want to be there. Our rooms were barely made up (wet towels left on floor). Air conditioner took a long time to get room cool. Rooms are very small. No concierge.
Location The staff, for the most part, wasn't helpful. For example, it was a cold night, and when I called downstairs and told them the heater was broken--even the lowest setting made the room unlivable--the staff's response was to open my window. It was raining heavily with strong winds that night, so I pushed the staff person further, who finally sent up a portable radiator. The sheets on the bed were torn. The bed wasn't made adequately, so that I couldn't fit my body into the bed. The shower glass wasn't sealed, so that water leaked all over the bathroom. Several staff at the front desk were unfriendly.
Good location. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean but decor and furnishings needs updating. Beds not very comfortable. Also, sleep disturbed by street noise (room at front of hotel).
Good value for money, especially the breakfast, very comfortable for a family stay.
Very nice, pretty and clean. As nice or nicer than Inbal but cheaper. Great Shabbat meals!
Updated and very nice. Better than Inbal for much less.
Good location - 5 - 10 minute walk from King David hotel and Mamilla square which leads right to Jaffa Gate. Extensive breakfast buffet. Rooms a bit dated. Terrible wifi but much of Jerusalem not much better. No grocery/convenience store nearby.
very good breakfasts hotel needs an internet room, where visiters can use the hotejs computer, keyboard etc
The staff was so friendly and was anxious to make you feel comfortable The spa was amazing and pool and work out area very unusual for Israel!
Lobby was beautiful, great swimming pool/workout area. Times pool was open was a bit too late. Sheets could have been of higher quality.
The hotel is in a great location. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well as knowlegable. The breakfast was always fresh and plentiful.
Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was delightful. Close to the Old Walled City. Free internet.
good breakfast, front desk hospitality. wi-fi internet connection was chargeable. not acceptable.
Wonderfull mattress, and pillows, excelent air conditioning Room carpets stained, food not international and very limited. Breakfast the worst ever seen at any hotel anywhere.
The bed was excellent, and so was the breakfast The fact that the room does not have an easy chair
I do not think there was anything inparticular that was good about this hotel. Unfriendly/unhelpful staff. The bar staff do not appreciate that white wine should be chilled. Very little natural light in the room. Hotel lacks in atmosphere.
The staff was accomodating; good location for walking to all parts of the city; enjoyed the sun-deck; ; generous breakfasts; entire hotel was non-smoking. The upgrade to a superior room made a big difference in room size.
Hila at the front desk was exceptionally helpful getting us a hotel reservation at our next stop in Israel going so far as to find details on line and then call the hotel directly to ask questions and verify the details. Neal the bellman was very friendly and helpful. Outstanding view of the Old City out of both the bedroom and bathroom windows! Great breakfast. Shabbat key. Less than 20 minute walk to the Kotel. Carpets should be shampooed.
The staff was corteous and helpful The towels.
location, buffet breakfast small and cold bathroom, high price
clean and nice
