The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable. Towels and soaps were good quality. Bathroom needs updating
Close to I94 and easy to find. Quiet location with beautiful lake. Having Denny's next door was so nice. I rented 2 rooms, one for my sister & 89 year old Mother and one for myself for 2 days. We went site seeing on Sat. and when we came back in the evening, my sister's & Mother's room was not locked. My Mother put her hand on the door handle and the door just swung open. My sister went to the front desk and someone came with her to the room. Nothing was taken and all seemed well but my Mother was shaken that the room was not secure. She was ill at ease for the remainder of our visit.
Bed was very comfortable.
They were doing construction at 530 am
Room was very small.
We choose this hotel because I was having surgery the next day close by. The king size pillow top bed was very comfortable. We had a Lakeview room and the view was nice. The windows opened too, so we could get a nice breeze. All the facilities were clean, staff was friendly. Great stay! There is NO complimentary breakfast, but there is a Dennys next door.
Comfy beds, quiet. A little dated. Not like it matters.
Everything Issues checking in
Very nice hotel, large rooms, fantastic included breakfast. The only downside was the highway traffic noise, which was inescapable. Request a room that doesn't face the freeway.
Once you check in, you may not want to leave until check out. Everything under one roof is provided. We were greeted in a friendly manner. Very nice atmosphere in the lobby and center courtyard. While a free shuttle was advertised, it had been booked by a whole company for 2 hours in the early morning. a little frustrating, but the staff did suggest alternate transportation (Uber) and that did get me to where I needed to go. The opportunity to eat a complimentary light snack and beverage was appreciated after the stressful I94 drive Corky's Pub was good food at a fair price, fast and efficient wait staff. Made to Order breakfast was wonderful from 6-9 am! Wonderful Chef! PARKING $$$ While absolutely no fault of the hotel, the construction mess around the Capitol is very stressful. People drive too fast and a bit rudely. Be prepared and drive attentively. Not enough parking, It is quite expensive to park around this area.$15/day in the hotel lot for registered guests. Arrive early to get a spot.
Needed to be close to the hospital. Daughter was very ill. Didn't know how long we needed to stay. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend this establishment. Comfortable, clean rooms. Laundry available. Food was excellent. Thank you!
I like that there are water features, glass evelators, lots of plants, and a nice dining area. Also there is a nice workout room.
We like to stay at the Embassy because we like the made to order breakfast and the managers reception. The rooms are large and comfortable. We will return next year! My only complaint is that they give you only one wash cloth.
We liked that it's close to the freeway -- easy on, easy off. And we really loved the breakfast in the morning -- so much better than a hotel's standard continental breakfast. Was a beautiful, luxurious little getaway for our little family (2 adults and a little baby).
Staff was great. Rooms were very nice. Breakfast was great too. Great value.
Great location when attending an event at the Excel Center.
Central location for the events and activities we attended. Expensive
Convenience to Wilkins auditorium It was not as nice as I expected. The room was average. Bedding average hard bed.
Everything in the hotel is beautiful and tasteful. Our room was great, bed was comfortable, loved the robes. One of the elevators was out of order, we mostly used the service elevators to get up and down. We were not particularly impressed with the staff. They were adequate, not really cordial. Pokemon players outside at night were creepy.
Historic elegance No
Very friendly staff. Top-notch accommodations. Excellent location in the heart of St. Paul.
The St Paul is a wonderful hotel experience. Every detail has been attended to. You won't find a friendlier staff any where and they are very willing to help you out. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I found nothing to complain about.
Beautifully maintained historic hotel in quiet downtown St Paul. Very clean and quiet rooms Need a regular fridge and expensive snacks.
You can see they put thought and effort into the decor. The beds were very comfortable.. The staff was very helpful and it was obvious they care about what they do. We especially appreciated help from Lori at the front desk. She got us information about an event in Milwaukee and then found a detailed map of that area, showing one-way roads. She was even able to tell us how much parking was going to cost. The hotel is a great value. We would definitely stay there again.
This hotel is extremely clean; modern; king room was plush. The restaurant was not up to par w/rest of hotel.
I've stayed at this property before, so I had no problem booking it again when I was going back to the area. The shuttle schedule is not always followed - when the hotel is busy and they have people to pick up from the airport, they will let you wait at the nearby mall until they get around to picking you up. That was not pleasant as the shuttle to the Mall of American runs every couple of hours.
The front desk staff was always courteous and helpful. The food was healthy and oh! so delicious! The chefs are great! They smile and speak. They are masters. I really hated to leave! I want an extended return trip. I will always stay at that 4 points. However, another guest told me that all 4 points offer the same great service and good time! They are decorated in wonderful neutral colors. Housekeeping was kind too! Location, location, Location! It is close to shops that you really want and need to go too. The television lounge is a novel idea. The corporate gathering places were well lite and comfortable. It felt like home without looking homely! That it was time for me to leave.
Website said free parking and airport shuttle, but where told upon arrival that the website was misleading and the manager was personally working on changing the wording but did not offer anything to make up for the fact that is why I booked with them and they charge more for parking than the near by airport. Also rooms are very small with little to no room for moving around beds and furniture.
comfort of bed and cleanliness of entire facility no free continental breakfast
The beds were amazing - very clean room No continental breakfast
Very comfortable bed and room. Breakfast was excellent and very affordable. Great service by all staff!
The beds were comfortable The people in the room next to us where talking so loud it sounded like they were in our room. It was well after 11:15pm and they were still going strong. We had children with us and a long drive the next day. This was very disappointing for us and for the money we spent on a one night stay made us made. Our kids are still yakking about how loud those people were. They would for sure be kicked out of any campground they went to. If we stay with you again we will be sure to ask for a room with no adjoining door between the two rooms and no one next to us. We don't need perfect silence but sleep would have been good. The next morning they were back at it early.
The old world feel about the place. Attentive staff. Exercise facilities. Reasonable cost.
The room - spacious with nice TV, and love the hardwood floors The lobby area - beautiful architecture, comfy chairs The staff - not very helpful, couldn't suggest places to go eat other than "go to Minneapolis - there's nothing good here" Shower - very small Location - granted it was a Thursday, but the hotel felt dead and there was no one at the bar, so staff from the front desk would walk over to the bar to serve people as they came up, and when we finally tried to go out every place nearby was closed or practically empty
I love the fact that you use an actual key to get in your room. I love how classy it is yet simple and humble. The view of downtown St Paul is amazing. you are right outside of the lightrail which is very convenient if ur flying or taking the bus. oh yeah and the man I brought. That was the best part! The free breakfast was free for a reason. soft boiled eggs or boiled. The waffle tasted old. fruit was frozen and not fresh. So as it thawed it wilted.
Updated room Very clean Free coffee and water Parking not included
Charming Hotel! Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Multiple lounges with plenty of space to hang out. I had a king delux, with 2 beds, and 2 bathrooms! The beds were really comfortable, and the full kitchenette was much appreciated. The gym and pool were top notch (St Paul Athletic club) The free breakfast was great. Location is 4 blocks to Excel center or Science museum. The window blinds were not enough to fully darken the room, I would have appreciated curtins too.
Very clean rooms and beds were comfortable. We had a newly renovated room, it was small but very nice with a lovely view of the river. Good location. Staff was helpful. The cost of the room was more than I'd ever paid. I was also under the impression that the parking fee was included in the price of the room, which was not the case.
I loved the modern look of the hotel. The bedding was of good quality, which is a huge plus for me! We had a beautiful view of the river from our room. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to Xcel Energy Centre, which was our destination, so I liked the proximity of the hotel to the venue. Overall I was very happy with my one night stay.
We were given an updated room. While generally nice it was a bit cramped with two queen beds. The staff were friendly overall. A bit cramped even though it was a updated room. While the staff was generally friendly, getting someone to answer a phone at the front desk and the Valet was slow and frustrating.
Smoky room no free breakfast poor service in restaurant bar
The restaurant inside the hotel was fairly good and quick. The rooms were cute and cozy. My bf loved the bed mattress. The lobby had a relaxing feel to it with the neutral tones and fireplace. Hotle has been updated with modern taste. The hotel is attatched to the skywalk system which was great. On the way back from the hockey game at the Excel Center, we walked through the skywalk. You never have to go outside in the cold, very clean in there.
This hotel is in the heart of St. Paul. Walking distance to the Excel Energy Center and many dining options. Room was clean. I would stay here again. Temperature control panel in the room did not work. Had to open the window in February to cool down the room.
Just fine Just fine
convenience, location, wonderful breakfast buffet. quality faciity
Friendliness of staff; comfort of bed!
Doubletree was wonderfully comfortable and affordable! They even helped us check in several hours early after our red eye, so we could nap. Thanks for a great trip and a much needed sleep.
Cookies at check in, comfortable beds and pillows Waking up to a call from the front desk at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday after being out late. Not many restaurants in the immediate area.
The front desk staff was great especially a young woman who looks like the movie star from Juno...Ellen? Do not recall her name but she was fantastic and so helpful! No baggage help or bellman. Restaurant was only open limited hours and no room service. I would only recommend this hotel if the price is right and with certain limitations.
too far away from airport
Great property. Very comfortable. Staff was amazing. Every person we encountered was very friendly. Food was great. Room was clean and comfortable. I will come back. Planes woke me up at about 5 a.m. We had a late night out, so this wasn't the best.
Our carpet was wet when we got in our room late night. Talked to front desk the next morning and she didn't even write it down. Said there was no maintenance person on duty.
It was great being located right off of I94. The pool is one of the better ones I've seen at a hotel with its 9 ft area. Hot tub not so much. Breakfast area was a zoo. It was too crowded and too noisy. Not enough seating. The set up of it made it difficult to get to the variety of food as people were in line to make waffles and standing in front to the other food options. There were a lot of kids here this weekend and they were running up and down the hallways from 9:00-10:00pm. The bed felt lumpy. Overall, it was an ok experience, but I don't think it was worth the amount we paid for 2 nights.
Delicious, expansive free breakfast Consistent, solid WiFi Relatively convenient location Pool/hot tub area looked amazing though we didn't have a chance to try it Talking/noise outside my patio doors until about 11:30
Pool area was nice, breakfast area is was nice. overall appearance of hotel is respectable. Booked through booking.com. When we arrived I was told since we booked through a service the room selected is not guaranteed and they decided a different room was best for us. Quote from employee "we are overbooked for your room selection, and booking.com doesn't guarantee you'll get your request". What's the point of giving me an option then. If I wanted a 2 queen bed room for my wife and I, I would have booked that. However, I requested a King suite. Not the same. Very disappointed and I don't know who to point the finger at. Also, found some food wrappers under the beds in our room. Apparently not cleaned the best that day.
The location was good and the swimming pool was great for the grandkids. They did not clean our rooms over the weekend. Even though my daughter and I reminded the.
The staff were very helpful, friendly, and prompt. The room was clean for hotel standards, the bathroom was clean and tidy, the sheets too. Breakfast was standard fare (eggs, make your own waffles, sausage, cereal, etc.) and tasted good. We felt very safe the whole stay, even in the parking lot after dark. It did seem a bit pricey at $120 for one night, but that's probably just due to it being located in St. Paul. Other than that nothing bad to report.
Clean and comfortable. It was hot and the thermostat didn't work.
Comfortable bed, clean room. Great continental breakfast. The hotel gave someone else our room after we already checked in! We were relaxing in our room when another group walked into our room! We called the front desk. They apologized and later gave a free night stay. I asked that they just give one night stay free on our current stay but they said sense we booked on kayak/hotels.com they couldn't do that. The elevator also broke on our first day there and was still broken by the time we left two days later.
Staff was very friendly. Room was clean, comfortable, with a refrigerator and coffee maker. It has a full hot breakfast buffet and variety of choices for dinner. Free parking, easy access to freeway and restaurants. No
The hotel clerk was very helpful and understanding of our situation and helped us out with many things. We booked the wrong hotel, but we called in advance before we booked it to see if it was the right hotel and the telemarketer said that it was. It actually wasn't the right hotel. It was 20 min out of our way.

Clean, friendly staff. Resturant food was expensive and ok.
We were in Oakdale for a wedding and the staff were very flexible with our ability to check in at late hours and they allowed us until noon the next day to check out giving us an extra hour of sleep!
Clean, spacious room. VERY friendly staff!
Everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Very clean hotel!!! Considering the cost of the rooms, I think they could throw in free breakfast. Most hotels do. Too much chlorine in the pool.

Nice rooms and amenities. Hotel was nice, but check-in is posted as 3pm and our room wasn't ready until 3:30pm and our itinerary said we had an adjustable bed, which we did not have.
I did like the restaurant and the bar at the hotel. Many things
Clean Dated Nothing said it was under construction Hotel stated it had a restaurant in the hotel, but that was under construction and closed when we were there.
Front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly. Shuttle service was nice & friendly the first night we used it. We biked & walked the rest of our stay bc it was so close. Room was clean, bed & pillows comfortable. Room size was adequate (bathroom small for two people). A mid-range motel & you pay for location. No continental breakfast or late night eats. We sat down at the restaurant for drinks and the bartender wouldn't serve us table side, only at the bar, so we left. No menu in the rooms for the restaurant. We ordered Pizza Luce instead, which was quite good. Lots of road noise from the interstate, fyi.
The room was Very nice and Comfortable. The attached bar/restaurant was very nice as well.
we booked a king room and got a double room, not impressed by that got a double room instead of the king we reserved
The shuttle that was provided to nearby events was very handy. Staff responsible for cleaning room was friendly and did a great job. For the price, a microwave and refrigerator should have been provided.... continental breakfast, also. The in-room temperature controls did not seem to have any effect on the room temperature - it was variable.
Staff provided exceptional customer service. Will stay again.
Proximity to Xcel center. Free shuttle to downtown. Very dated decor throughout hotel and in the room. Bathroom was very small and made me feel like a giant while taking a shower. The entire place seems extreme old, outdated and not well maintained. Pool area was dirty, the showers did not work and there was a lot of dust on top of the faded, threadbare umbrellas at the tables surrounding the pool. I will absolutely try another hotel before staying here again.
Comfortable bed, decent sized room, great breakfast, clean bathroom. Overall, a very nice place to stay for our weekend away. Dining area was crowded and needed more space. There was nowhere to sit so we had to awkwardly carry our food back up to the room. Also, the walls were really thin, could hear anything going on in the hall and in the room across, we were above the lobby and could hear some of what was going on down there as well.
Very clean room with a comfortable bed. I'm sure that this is out of the norm, but when I checked in one of the staff members was behind the counter flossing his teeth. While I appreciate good hygiene, I'm sure there was a more appropriate place to conduct this activity.
Solid hotel, comfy beds, tasty breakfast, great proximity to mall.
Everythin was good from the cleanliness to the breakfast and customer service... On my second stay too much noise and i mean TOO much noise by the housekeepers
The facilities were clean. The bed was comfortable but there was no mini fridge which seems to be the norm for hotels now. I would likely stay there again especially when traveling to the mall of america.
They had a marketplace with bare essentials and I got a MOTRIN just in time. NO fridge and no microwave in the room. We expected more at the reservation price.
Employees were friendly and helpful--especially the van driver Breakfast was marginal
Continental breakfast was great. Very clean eating area and a good variety. Beware of the rooms that are advertised with 1 queen bed. They are offered at a discount because they are the rooms by the elevator shaft. It was a VERY small room. Ok for the price if you are just staying for a quick sleep before you fly out but I know we won't stay again for a weekend visit.
Good location. Good service. Lobby and dining area were under construction. Breakfast was mediocre.
close to airport limited space and extras
Kevin, that the front desk, was just fabulous. He can multi-task, is efficient and courteous. He gave me an extra blanket while fielding a phone call and just was a great staff member. The room was dark and worn (rust around the drains, some wear and tear on the walls, etc.). The breakfast could be greatly improved for the likes of me by adding black tea, skim milk and more fruit choices. The neighborhood was not conducive to going out to ear but is fairly close to restaurants farther west.
I arrived late because of delayed flights, and was welcomed by finding out that the Americinn never got the reservation from Kayak. Had to purchase the room again in person.
Everything was great! Kevin was a great person to have at your front counter! I did t like not having a reason to complain! Just kidding! Everything was superb!
The staff was friendly and the shuttle drivers were very good about getting to and from airport in a timely meaning. The hotel was not clean stains on bed and floor found toe nail clipping behind night stand . And bathroom was falling apart stain on ceiling and rotting fauset.
I was always comfortable and it allowed me a great deal of flexibility in using my rental car which I hadn't expected Nothing was a problem at all. If I need a motel in the Twin Cities, I'll try that location first.
At checkin they gave us the wrong room....in our room the TV and the phone didn't work
It was a great stay..
Nice big room, friendly people. Shower was great' There was an orange film in the sink. Like a powder. The breakfast area was very tight and hard to get around tables and chairs Without spilling things.
Comfortable, spacious room. Wireless Internet dropped off occasionally.
Our room was very clean and quiet, so quiet that I was surprised at how many people were there. The beds were comfortable. I liked having the breakfast available. We had scrambled eggs bacon, waffles, biscuits and gravy, and other foods that are available on continental breakfasts. For us the location was perfect. It was easy to get to, and we felt safe in this area. We noticed several people walking in the area for exercise. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but did see the area and it was very nice and clean. I give it 4 stars, as it is a little older, but an excellent, reasonably priced choice for us. We will be staying there again.
Was fine for a one night stay. Construction going on.
The history and the look of the Hotel. The bed was not comfortable and must have been old. The room and hallways needed attention with some windex and a fresh coat of paint.
The staff allowed us to early register, continental breakfast an extra day and kept our luggage safe for 10 hours after check out. Amazing place. no elevator
The breakfast was good and the lobby had an interesting decor. The hotel pool was dirty. We found clumps of hair on the bottom and deflated ballons floating around. It rained the night we were there and the floor under the windows was wet. Remote from anything else in the area.
No street noise. Very nice breakfast.
Very convenient to daughter's apt. Easy to find room. Wonderful breakfast selections. Nice quiet rooms. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and will do so again.
The staff was very friendly. Very pleasant environment. The bed was terrible.
I liked how spacious the room was, the free breakfast, and the parking was close to the entrance I didn't like that the room that I booked (King), wasn't what I received (Double Queen), The room was smoke free, but smelt like smoke as soon as you entered, and the room was so warm and had no way to control the heat other than 2 other temperatures. This was good for a one night stay, for which we used the room to get ready for a concert and sleep
Interearing, historic building with really cool design. Very unique. Comfortable beds. Free parking. Free breakfast was decent. Had all the amenities I was looking for (pool/hot tub, business center). Decent location, depending on your needs. The main problem, and for me this was a big problem, was security. Our room was located right next to an exterior door in the very back corner of the hotel, which opens up to the back parking lot. We noticed right away that the lock was broke and so anyone could enter without needing a key card. This wouldn't have been a huge problem accept the door to our room did not shut and lock without pulling it tightly closed behind us. We also noticed this right away and made sure it was locked any time we left. The room cleaners, however, did not. After a day out we returned (through the unlocked exterior door) and could see right as we walked in that our hotel room door was noticeably ajar. We went in and made sure that none of our belongings were missing and that no weirdos were hiding in the closet, and very luckily everything was fine. The worst part was that the lady at the front desk, although very nice and smiley, seemed completely oblivious to the situation they put us in. When I told her about the broken lock on the exterior door she seemed shocked, then later went on to tell me that she actually ordered a new lock earlier that day. Call me crazy but one thing I really expect out of a hotel is at least a little bit of security and safety. I can't help but wonder what they would have done if anything had been stolen from our room. At any rate, if you're staying in room 118, make sure that all the staff know they need to take extra care to make sure your door is locked, or at least closed all the way.
Good location for my needs. Very friendly staff. Clean room. Music in the courtyard area should be reduced or turned off at night.
The size of the room and the helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast lady was great!
