location was the main thing for us as we were cycling. Comfortable stay and we were well rested afterwards. Spacious room
The staff was really extremely helpful, very polite and friendly. There was no soups or salads on the hotel menu...In either of the 2 restaurants...
There was an extra charge for everything including internet usage! The restaurant which was open during our stay only offered a la carte dining and was quite expensive for a very informal setting.
Perfect location for a few days in the Medoc. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Well maintained both inside and outside.
Lovely hotel and golf course - gorgeous robes and slippers in the room - convenient for seeing the chateaus of Margaux
Friendliness, excellent food abd comfort and suitability for my wife who uses awheelchair
It was beautifully situated, quiet and the staff were excellent. Not really designed for young children, though the staff go out of their way to try to help, and no place to really walk around the beautiful grounds.
I liked the size of the room and its tea making facility. I was very disappointed to learn that I had to pay 30 euros each time I wished to use the gym facility.(When I am staying in a hotel, I expect to be able to have free use of the fitness room.) Only the Brasserie restaurant was open (the gastronomic 'L'Isle Vincent' was closed for winter) and my husband and I were the only guests for most of our meal. (One other couple arrived as we were leaving.) Despite this, service was poor(we were left sitting at our table for too long after arrival so I had to go and ask for drinks and for our order to be taken!) The meal was very disappointing...overcooked expensive escalope de foie gras starter and equally overcooked red mullet fillets! I also found the reception unforthcoming and unhelpful.
The hotel complex is located among vast vineyards of Margaux, 2kms from Margaux village itself. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped, spa is very relaxing and the staff is extremely courteous and helpful
Having come from the Chateau Mirambeau, which is a fabulous property, with wonderful rooms, a dedicated, highly trained, helpful staff, with impeccable attention to fine details, I was disappointed with the Relaix Margaux. The room appoints were not up to the clas of the hotel. The bed was too soft, with old blankets instead of a duvet. The Internet did not work for the first night there. My initial encounter with the staff was less than positive, although their helpfulness improved during the stay. The grounds are nice, and I enjoyed many things at the property; but I expected much more. The health club did not open until 9:00 a.m. The hallway lights did not go on timely. The hot water in the sink was not hot enough.
great location -food excellent
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food we had at dinner in the evening was excellent and the breakfast buffet was also very good. The location was perfect being both peaceful and yet only a short walk into the town centre or to the quay for the ferry or pleasure boat cruises. The view from our room of the Gironde was delightful. A large fan had been provided but we did not need this as the temperature did not exceed 30°C during our stay. When we arrived we had to re-clean the wash basin, bidet and bath as these had not been cleaned properly. The room was small (we had to move the bed to sit at the desk and then move it back again to access the storage space for clothes).
Location room requires updating
Hotel staff were excellent - knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.
Wonderfully friendly reception and the suite (Ceridwen?) was huge and luxurious, with enormous balcony and sun-lounge as well as 3 other rooms.
The room, the staff, the breakfast, the location, the free wifi, the parking. I thought it was overpriced by about 10 euros a night.
the setting was beautiful. You feel like you are staying in a Chateau. The rooms are large, nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast was very good. It was all buffet (including coffee), but you can request espresso or cappucino..We really enjoyed our stay the staff are not very visible, (don't expect to be pampered) but we had everything we needed and were very satisfied with everything. If you arrive late you should call and they will make arrangements to leave the key for you.
Very friendly staff, good communication skills.
This is absolutely perfect place to stay, if you want to discover Bordeaux! First of all it is very special, as you don't feel yourself at a hotel, but you feel yourself at home. We were greeted as good guests, or rather friends! Serge - the owner, arranged a lot of visits to great chateaus for us. He knows owners of nearly all the great chateaus in Bordeaux and he knows a lot about wine, so he helped us to get closer to it too. It is hard to find proper words for this comment, because it was great and very personal experience. We hope to visit this place again and again. And after all some facts. 1. This hotel is situated just near Margaux so it is very easy to discover all the Medoc starting from here. 2. Rooms are beautifull and big, each one has its own emotion, paintings and art objects. 3. If you'll be lucky and Stephanie or Serge will have time to make you a gastronomical dinner - you'll try the best food in your life, as we did. 4. Serge can help you to solve any problem (any is correct word here). 5. We think it is the best place we ever visit!
Located in very small village Listrac, directly by the bus, main road, 10 minutes driving distance from Pauillac, 30 minutes driving from Bordeaux. Food prepared in hotel by the owner is fair, but definitely not a choice for 'foodie' person. Great place if you need a roof over your head near major Chateaux of Medoc. This place has rather family place then a professional hotel facility. The images of the hotel on their website are only accurate as far as inside. Their attempt to make an impression the hotel is located in the middle of wine country with vineyards is inaccurate. WiFi does not reach to some hotel rooms. Not a luxury hotel by any mean.
Charming owners who are were very helpful and friendly. Also very well positioned for visits to the Haut Medoc. Also, for wine lovers, a good hotel retaurant with a good range of wines from Listrac. The hotel owners also introduced me to a good producer of local wine. Rooms need updating and are a bit spartan. Wifi really only works in the restaurant and not in the bedrooms.
From the moment we walked in we were treated as long time friends. I had sent an email in advance to see if they offered hair dryers in each room. I received an email indicated they could make one available during my stay, and when we checked in they presented me with a hair dryer for my use during our stay. They didn't speak a lot of English, but I don't speak a lot of French, but we managed beautifully. The hotel/restaurant has been in the family for decades and during an absolutely fabulously gourmet dinner, our waitress/hostess, Fanny, who also checked us into our room. Was one of the children in the old time photo on the front of the menu. The room was small, but charming and clean. We loved our stay! No, there is nothing we didn't like about our stay. It was fantastic!
The wonderful chef offered the wonderful beefsteak, and the waiter was very kindly, keep you family feeling deeply. They do them better for everyone!
Good cuisine and good wine in the restaurant. I really enjoyed them. It was also good to have a bathtub in the room. The wall is so thin. Unfortunatelly there was a familly whose children made a noise until midnight and it bothered us very much. I woke up because of this noise!
