Friendliness of staff
Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast. Not having a restaurant means having to go elswhere to eat evening meals, as a business customer that's a bit of a nuisance.
Very well looked after thank you - really good breakfasts!
The B&B Is spot on excellent clean rooms with excellent service.
informal and friendly atmosphere nothing
Rooms were clean and modern and the breakfast was good No hot water at 6.00 in the evening. No access to the hotel when we arrived on Saturday afternoon (having been told that the earliest check in was 2.00 we were surprised to find a note on the door at 3.00 saying " back in one hour"). We found somewhere to have a hot drink at the nearby national park but had quite a lot of time to kill which was not ideal after a long journey.
breakfast was brilliant could n't get telly to work on 2nd night.
Very clean bedroom & bathroom, in fact pristine. Good sized bedroom and en-suite, well laid out. Very neutral, tasteful decor. Very comfortable bed. Excellent parking facilities. Beautiful rural location. Excellent breakfast. There was nothing I disliked about the guest house. I selected the guest house for the location. I would have preferred a hotel with lunch & dinner on the premises.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel . Our room was huge and also had a sitting / TV area. It was spotlessly clean, well decorated and comfortable.breakfast was very good and so was our Saturday evening meal. They do a curry night on Friday and Saturday - excellent value , choice and taste. It was all washed down with the House red wine which was very good . Nothing amiss.
Cenral location A bit dated
good room rate. The room was vey hot and we stayed on a saturday night and it was extremly loud and noise outside due to the hotels location but this cant be helped.
handy for town and country side
Welcoming, warm and friendly. Breakfast was a bit bland as are many hotels these days.
Size of the room/quality of the bed Old fashioned and a bit of refurbishment would be nice (there were holes on the bottom sheet.
It was very central for the trains and buses. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. nothing
Staff very friendly Bedroom and particularly the bathroom needed some TLC
Close proximity to centre of town. Poor service from the hotel staff.
The location, food, and willingness of all to help. Only thing was the parking and daily charges for parking.
staff were always eager to help in any way. facilities were on good order and clean
Beautiful surroundings, nice restaurant, warm welcome. The door of the balcony does not shot. When we left, the receptionist was short with us.
Great food, lovely staff, friendly atmosphere. Could not get S4C or BBC Wales on the TV which was a pain. No mobile phone reception (which could have been a problem)
Very nice lodge with excellent ammenities. We were very comfortable there and wished we had stayed longer. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Nothing
The Spa is great! Staff were friendly. Food was good. Didn't like the strong smell of the carpet cleaner in the room.
Comfortable bed, swimming pool on site, food excellent Only continental breakfast included. Room had budget feel about it.
Excellent food & service, attentive and efficient staff, first-rate location, very good gym and spar facilities No
The food in the bistro was excellent. The size of the rooms was also very good with easy access to all the hotel facilities. The hotel is placed in a fantastic location in the Brecons too, some fantastic scenery.
The food and service in the bistro was very good. All in all the staff were very helpful, courteous and friendly. Very professional. My room was not very nice. It was a standard room (no 12). The lighting was very poor with a white bulb above the bed and yellow bulb in the sitting area and was far too dim for a large room with only 1 french door. The bathroom smelt like a hospital. The carpet was cheap and nasty. The phone was covered in dust as was the bathroom radiator. However I was told they are in the process of upgrading the rooms starting with the superior. I suggest you check with the Hotel first.
The spacious room and bathroom, the pool and the linen napkins at breakfast. Wine list prices very reasonable. The noise from the extractor outside our room.
Very lovely, big house. Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast.
Absolutely superb place to stay. Pristine cleanliness. Food - scrumptious. The staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful.
The quality and furnishing of the accommodation was very superior. We were made very welcome by all the staff. The continental breaksfast was the best we've ever had. Nothing.
Friendly atmosphere. excellent accomodation.
Great value for money for the six person cottage, excellent breakfast, and truly lovely staff. We couldn't get breakfast on the Saturday morning as it wasn't served until 8am and we needed to be out for the day earlier than that.
the surrounding area, clean rooms, good selection for breakfast noisy room, you can hear the breakfast room
Very clean hotel/rooms. very friendly staff fantastic service and a great comprehensive breakfast. None
Was made very welcome, an excellent location and very friendly service. The accomodation was of a very high standard.
We stayed in one of the self contained cottages. It was very warm and comfortable with plenty of space downstairs for family games or watching tv. Views were wonderful and it was very convenient for lovely countryside.Inclusion of breakfast was a lovely bonus
The very friendly staff, the breakfast (best selection I have seen outside of some luxury hotels), the general ambience, the peace and tranquillity. I was only there for one night so was unfortunately unable to explore the lovely garden and beautiful countryside around the hotel. I was rather dismayed to find nobody on duty at the hotel on my arrival, and there was already a group of about five people waiting to register. A phone call soon brought a member of staff, but I'm not sure what we could have done without a mobile phone, and anyway they don't all work everywhere. I had booked a single ground floor room, but it was occupied and I was given a first floor double room. There was no additional charge and the stairs were manageable, so no real problem there.
The cottage was lovely. The under floor heating was excellent and the I really liked the decor. We normally eat out every evening but we just wanted to stay in and enjoy the cosy cottage. Location was great if you enjoy rural surroundings with the added bonus of a Tesco and Asda just a 10 mins drive way. The cottage could do with a clean lots of cobwebs.
Very warm and remote None
Excellent accomodation, vith absolutely beautiful views.
Very pleasant owners. Excellent views over the valley. Good parking off road outside the cottage. Good walks for dog owners and walkers alike. Sat Nav says you have arrived half way up hill when the accommodation is at the top. The actual signs for the cottages are very small and could easy be missed.
I would say that the bed mattresses would have to be changed they are quiet bad to be honest. It would have been perfect to have propper loggs for the fire.
Lovely environment. Returned for the fourth time now. The cottage (Glas) represents excellent value for money and is nice and cosy. We always enjoy lighting the log fire burner. There are walks in the local area where we exercised the dog. Richard is a lovely bloke and will go out of his way to make you feel welcome. Shower and kitchen tap were a little erratic but worked fine after leaving them on for a bit.
The owners of the cottage are excellent. Very welcoming, friendly, helpful, wonderful people. Area is quiet, green, relaxed, the house is so cozy, interior is just more than you expecting from the pictures. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and definitely would pick the same place when i go there next time.
Very homely and comfortable. None
the staff were responsive and helpful and the setting is lovely the rooms are a little run down and they need to put more towels in bathroom
nice homely atmosphere staff were a little slow and sometimes nowhere to be seen
Peace & Tranquility The decoration of the rooms needs to be updated. The beds needs to be updated, more staff
The log fires and the friendly staff. Service at Sunday breakfast was a bit absent minded.
Nice location and character of building The signs from Hirwan were not as big as from the other way and were difficult to see at night so keep your eyes peeled!
Beautiful location, right smack in the heart of Breacon Beacons- no need for car other than to get there as waterfalls, whiskey distillery and wonderful walks literally on the door step. Room was fantastic (shower five star!), staff were brilliant, roaring fires everywhere and the warm atmosphere and enthusiasm for you having a wonderful experience hits you as soon as you step over the threshold. Really special place, well recommended breakfast wasn't so inspiring but perfectly adequate, Never seen someone advertise that their coffee is made from 'finest instant granules' but then, I quite like the honesty and unpretentiousness and the setting and staff are so nice, stuffing my fat face with hashbrowns and blackpudding becomes less important
No comment The confusion of whether a payment had been made during boooking or when booking out, was a bit disconcerting. I had no idea that I had booked a "Luxury room" it was far from that! The breakfast was excellent, but based on other hotels that I have used (Morgans), I thought it was expensive and very gloomy and old fashioned.
relative closeness to Brecon The hotel's food and service was very poor. Too many items on the menu unavailable. The food itself was, seemingly, not fresh and lacked quality and not value for money. Breakfast service slow and very greasy.
The staff were very friendly & helpful. We had travelled to Wales for a family funeral & the staff went out of their way to accomodate seven family members who wated to join us for our evening meal. The bathroom was a little dated & there were damp patches on the wall
The rare possibility to stay at a country house hotel at what was a budget hotel price. The restaurant is slightly expensive.
Conveniently situated Room was a bit cramped with four of us in a normal sized room with the extra kids beds
Spotlessly clean Comfortable beds Quiet Excellent breakfast & meals generally Storage for clothes not always adequate; storage for suitcases and drawers for underwear etc
Enjoyed our stay had to leave early as I was unwell Could have a phone in the room and may be a fridge
All very good None
polite and friendly staff - cleanliness of room - comfortable bed Only point of issue was only one armchair in a double room! Second person had to lounge on bed to watch TV on a rainy afternoon
They were flexible with my complaint and request the noise come from teh disco downstairs.
The hotel is dated in decoration, located in a rundown area of the town and it could not offer food. If all you want is a clean bed it's fine.
Staff Uncomfortable bed, loud plumbing noises all night
None The hotel needs total refurbishment
Good value and staff friendly enough, although I didn't receive an explaination about how I got into the hotel after hours, which meant I nearly got locked out for the night. Good value breakfast.
Never recieved an invoice from my cash payment ,could not ask before I left because there was no one present ,there was also a smell with in the hotel I was concerned about leaving my car outside
Lovely lady welcoming us at 2am. We got her out of bed! Coffee and tea collection was nice. Showers were awlful. Sort them out! Cold water or a trickle of hot.
Staff were very friendly The rooms were directly above the disco which was extremely loud until the early hours of the morning
I am struggling to answer this question as Ye Old Red Lion Hotel had no good points whatsoever - it was the worst accommodation experience of my life to date! Where do I start: The hotel was dirty from the entrance to the bedroom. The television did not work. The carpet leading to the bedrooms looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed for months. One of the stairs represented a health and safety hazard as it was collapsing. The bedroom was less than basic and in need of major refurbishment. The owners should be ashamed to advertise this place as decent accommodation. When I returned to the hotel quite late, an individual was urinating against the front door - I had to wait until he finished before I was able to enter!
the staff were very welcoming and very informative about the area and th regulars were all very welcoming and made me feel very welcome a excellent place to stay.
