When visiting Aberdare, Ty Newydd Country Hotel is a great choice to consider. For a bite to eat, guests can check out The George Restaurant, which serves British cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's also a bar/lounge, and rooms offer flat-screen TVs and room service.
Pros: Convenient location, although it was not easy to access using sat/nav because of recently introduced one way system in Merthyr Tydfyl. Location near the bus terminal, with fairly diverse shops and restaurants nearby.
Cons: Noisy at night, particularly from nearby pubs. The lack of dedicated hotel parking is a real disadvantage. There is a nearby multistory parkade, but that closes from 8 in the evening to 7 in the morning, and is closed entirely through the weekend.
