Loved the peaceful charm, beautiful views, multitude of activities, and equestrian theme of the hotel. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. Guest rooms are superb and located far enough away from the pools, tennis courts, etc so that they are quiet. We took advantage of several activities at the resort, and loved sitting outside on the back terrace. About a 15 min walk into downtown Middleburg, which is highly recommended to check out the local shops and restaurants. Biggest drawback is the expense. For a 2 night stay, including zip line tour, massages, and meals at the resort (for which we had Travelzoo coupons), we spent about $2000. Would love to be able to enjoy the resort more often, but just not financially possible for us to do so.
The Salamander resort provided a wonderful site to reconnect with my family as our daughter was home for spring break. We even brought our pup along and she got the royal treatment -- greeted with a doggy treat, photo op and placement in a patio room with easy access to the walking trails. The resort location was ideal. It's one of the few resorts that's a short drive from our home - so traveling in didn't take away from relaxation time at the spa, on grounds for a trail ride or taking in a swim. The cooking classes were also a great bonding event. There were a number of onsite activity promotions offered to those booking through the resort or from independent dealers like Groupon. I wish your online booking would partner up and extend these perks as options when reserving online.
I cannot tell you how wonderful your staff really is! They are so attentive, friendly, helpful, and treated us so nicely., The concierge was GREAT!!!! The staff made our stay perfect. No big deal - but the light bulbs in the ceiling fixture were burned out. Also you might give information to guests about how to dim or brighten the light in the bathroom. Took us forever to figure it out. After calling down...we found the little place on the fixture to move to brighten the light.
The high quality of the furniture and food The constant fighting of dogs in the sitting area, hallways, and lobby. This resort is TOO dog-friendly. Guests are allow to have their dogs in these areas. The dogs constantly bark at other dogs, the couches reap of dog smells, and the dogs constantly smelling other guests. Anyone allergic to dogs definitely need to STAY AWAY from this resort.

Due to construction traffic, did not arrive at Dulles until 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning and needed to be at airport for flight to Mexico (via Houston) at 6:00 a.m., so I never checked in. Location Rooms and hotel in general are in need of an update. Very noisy which made it difficult to sleep. Front desk clerk spoke with such a heavy accent that I could not understand a word he said. Got charged $50 for something we did not incur. Listed as a four star hotel on Kayak, which it is not even close to being. (Ritz Carlton Pentagon City, also in Northern VA, is also listed as four stars.)

The room was big enough for a family stay. The shower door couldn't close, and took forever to fix it. When you flushed the toilet, the water splashed everywhere.
Satalite tv didnt work. No breakfast. Pool closes too early. Room is hot. No fridge no microwave. No stamps to mail things. Everything was horrible. Tv sucked pool closed to early no free breakfast no kid friendly place to eat. No stamps no fridge no microwave.
I liked the bed I can't believe a major hotel chain is still charging for internet in 2015.

Staff was very friendly & helpful. I requested a room away from elevators and it was granted. Also recieved a free 2pm check out. Loved the bathroom especially the Kolher square rainforest shower head. Tv signal keep going in& out so I had to use my tablet instead. But wifi is free on weekends so no worries :)

Location No food options at night. Our flight landed after midnight and we were told the kitchen was closed and there was no room service. All we were offered (initially) was junk food (candy, etc). After a few minutes of looking in vain for something healthy to eat in amongst all the junk food the desk clerk admitted actually there *might* be some chicken salads left in the kitchen and called someone to bring them out. Now, obviously I can never prove this but I'm convinced that they were keeping these meal aside for staff and that, presumably, leftover fresh food that expires at the end of the day (like salads) are given to staff. Anyway, that's the last time we'll be staying there.
Comfortable, good facilities and clean. Internet was not free. Internet is too basic to not be included in the price nowadays.
The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were modern and very clean. The staff wasn't attentive. I felt like we were being nickeled and dimed (We had to pay for breakfast and for internet)
The room was well-appointed and nicely arranged, but the bathroom was exquisite, with a big walk-in shower that included a rainwater sprinkler and separate hand shower. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. The Sunday buffet breakfast was reasonably priced, though the selection was fairly simple and routine. Wi-Fi wasn't visible in our room. Fortunately not critical for this stay but could be frustrating for a business traveler. The mattress needs to be replaced. No support and sagged toward the center.
The design and comfort of the room were great. The bathroom was outstanding - very nice change from most other hotels! The cost of the room was a great value. We would stay again at this hotel without hesitation. Our waitress in the Padella restaurant was terrible. We were there around 7:30pm on 9/7/15. She was very rude to me (husband) and addressed all of her comments and questions only to my wife, constantly finishing her sentences with "Ma'am" and looking only at my wife, not me. When we first sat down, her first sentence was "Can I get you drinks?". Before we had a chance to answer, she immediately said to be "Do you want to order the rib eye?". We did not even have our menus yet. I said nor did absolutely anything to cause her "men hater" attitude. It took forever for her to bring out the bill. When she finally did, she never returned to collect the credit card. We were by a window. During all of this time, I saw her spending a lot of time gossiping with someone at a particular table, as well as walking around cleaning up other tables and setting up place settings on tables. We ended up going to the bar to pay the bill. The bar tender was extremely nice. After paying the bill, we ordered two drinks to take up to the room. The bartender did an outstanding job in making the drinks.
Love the room it was clean and comfortable also the bathroom was so spaces and clean. The pool my kids loved it they where in from the time it open until is was closing time I must say we did enjoyed our self. Nothing not to like.

The hotel was quiet good value overall The response from the front desk about the safe and the bed in the room looked like someone had laid on the bed and when they had issue requested a room changed however they never got the room ready before I checked in
Nothing. The best I can say is it was dry and the snow was not in the room. Parking lot not plowed, very poor English spoken by staff, noisy families everywhere and my credit card # was used in a fraudulent transaction several days after my stay, at a facility very close to the hotel. I can only assume the # was stolen during my stay when i used the card at the hotel.
Proximity to Dulles Int'l Airport Free shuttle to airport beginning at 5 a.m. No amenities - I needed Tylenol/Ibuprofen badly, and there was no small shop or convenience store in the hotel. Coffee and breakfast not available until 6 a.m. Bare-bones Front desk had sign stating that their representative was out delivering something, and he was out front smoking a cigarette, peering through the window at those who were waiting to be helped.
This was a great location, convenient to Dulles Airport and the companies I needed to visit. A shuttle is provided to and from the airport, and to local businesses to the hotel. The rooms were furnished with "well worn" 60's era furniture, uncomfortable beds, and loud air conditioners.
Customer service. International guests have hard time coping with U.S culture.

The price was very affordable. The room size was very comfortable with: a bar, separate couch, desk area from the bed. Everything was clean, and by me traveling alone, I felt very safe even to outside and jog even though they had a fitness area. I wish there were a waffle or pancake maker (instead of pre-made pancakes). Breakfast was still ok though there were limited options, also being a Diabetic they should have had sugar free syrup, but at least breakfast was free which was nice.

Staff was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. I had a late check in, I called in before hand to make sure my room was held and not overbooked. The lady on the phone was rushed and said "yeah no worries we got you taken care of" When I arrived same lady said we overbooked you. Then told me to go next door to the Sheraton which was $40 more expensive.

It is a great location in reference to the airport and the surroundings. They were eateries nearby and great places to take a walk if you're into that. The rooms were updated and very practical. They were also spacious and I love the options for connecting to the 42 inch TV. The bed was comfortable as well. The location is being developed and there is construction across the street which can be noisy.

We liked we were convenient on and off highway but without highway noise. Staff could not find our prepaid reservation for 15 minutes on check-in. Staff gave poor directions to room and ice machine; it was like they did not care to be clear enough. Ice machine was small, had a solid metal refrigerator door without handle and was back in pantry kitchen, under a work counter and all they said, twice, was it was "in there." I ahd to go around the room and try several appliances before finding it while the staff was just talking at the front desk.
We liked the front desk staff. Very attentive and polite. The room was clean and worked for the few hours we were there (sleeping). Room service was quite overpriced for what we got but it was decent food. The shuttle from airport to hotel was confusing and difficult to locate. Make sure to be clear on where they will pick you up. They didn't stop at. Oth locationa for us so We waited for over an hour but when it finally arrived it was fine.
Hotel was clean and the free breakfast included hot food. The location was very convenient to the Air and Space Museum at Dulles and only a short drive into downtown D.C. The first room we were given didn't have functioning heat and air. We had no difficulty getting a new room but it did separate us from the rest of our group.
Couldn't shower before I left because of no hot water. That should at least be the basic. You can mess almost everything else up but really no hot water? Very annoying.
The staff was cordial and attentive. The room was updated and clean. The breakfast was excellent. There was a lot of moisture in the room and the air conditioner struggled to keep the room cool.
The building looked good as we pulled up, and the room had been re-done, with nice sink top, large TV and new towels. Start with doors opening on the parking lot [very dangerous] and on the outdoor balcony. No elevator. Old building spruced up, but small and uncomfortable room. AC didn't work very well, kept cycling on and off all night but didn't actually cool the room much. At least the AC unit was loud enough to cover [most of] the noise from the parking lot just outside the window. Uncomfortable bed, old saggy pillows. We didn't stay for breakfast.

I really like the hotel overall. Well located with food close by and even a movie theater across the street. We stayed for 2 nights before we flew back home and loved how close it was to Dulles airport. You can't control traffic flow at the airport but you can make sure you're close enough to it. For sure one less thing to worry about.

Breakfast buffet was excellent, except our waiter was kind of forgetful. Fireside nook in lobby was an excellent place to have a drink or chat with friends. Staff tried really hard. Towels were okay. Bath products weren't bad. The place is mid-renovation. Most of it looks dated and bland. The hall we stayed on didn't have that problem, but it did smell very strongly of glue (carpet or wallpaper I'm not sure). Our room also had a strong and unpleasant odor. The sheets were very uncomfortable, and the duvet was covered in a flat sheet top-and-bottom which ironically made it much less soft to the touch. Walking around the hotel felt like walking through a combination community college and office building. Probably the least inviting building I've seen for a "luxury resort" ever. Spa lacks surge capacity to accommodate walk-in guests during a busy weekend. Breakfast shuts down on weekends before brunch hours, and even with three other restaurants (total of 4 on the property), none of them serve brunch foods on a Sunday after 11am. Unfortunately this resort isn't close to anything, so if they don't serve brunch in the building, you can't get brunch without a 15+ minute drive. Staff tried hard, but the place gives them nothing to work with. If you're not a golfer or planning a conference, avoid this place. This is not a good resort for a luxurious or romantic weekend.
Room service breakfast was delicious, minus the fried unseasoned potatoes. Bed was soft and comfortable. Carpet and furniture are dated. Bathroom floor looked dark and dirty.

Thank goodness everyone was friendly or we would have left immediately. When we arrived, the hotel had NO WATER. The water came on several hours later but we were told the hot water would "take a while to warm up." The water was still cold the next morning. There was no indication on the kayak website that there was any problem at the hotel when we booked online.
The staff was really informative & friendly. The bar/ lounge area is in the lobby. Friendly bartender ( only open until 11pm on the weeknight we were there) FREE Airport shuttle but not clear that you have to call the hotel to pick you up. Plenty of breakfast options to chose from, including egg sandwiches. Very convenient to grab and go on the way to the airport. Bathroom doors are sliding and there is a gap so not a ton of bathroom privacy if that is a concern
Location was ok but not the easiest to get in and out of. The guy at checkin gave me a king that wasn't a king like I paid for and he lied repeatedly was rude.
Clean, modern rooms. Overall good experience. Thermostat was set to 80 deg and was too hot, so I turned it down to 75 and it blew cold air on me most of the night.

This hotel was chosen to host family and friends for a wedding. The front desk staff was courteous, the exercise area was probably the best I've ever seen at a hotel, and the pool was great for the kids along on the trip. Having a restaurant in the lobby was convenient and the food was delicious. Even though the food was delicious, there were many problems with the speed at which orders were taken, food was cooked, and meals finally arrived. Even breakfast (which costs $12/person even if you're getting just a little box of Special K cereal) was a mad house with no one really knowing what was going on.
Staff at front desk were very friendly and helpful While the hotel is only one year old, maintenance appeared to be poor and I did not get an impression that toilet was clean. I walked over to Loft by W Hotel next door. For the same price, this hotel might have been a greater value. I also liked the a la carte menu for breakfast at Loft, instead of the "$9.99" all you can eat buffet at Hilton Garden Inn. While this was not an expensive price, it would have given me a better sense of value if I were allowed to pay only for what I would consume.

They kept our luggage while we went to a small trip to the Caribean. We had a lot of stuff so that was very handy. When we came back, just picked our luggage and took our plane home.
It was a nice room. The breakfast was decent. The staff friendly. The location was nice for our purpose. Not really.
The staff was fantastic. Eli greeted us at the Front Desk and answered so many of our questions while checking us in. He supplied us with a breakfast bag to go in the morning since we were leaving before they served breakfast and got us set up with parking for the week. IF YOU'RE FLYING OUT OF DULLES, YOU CAN LEAVE YOUR CAR AT THE HOTEL FOR $35/WEEK! I don't know of any better price out there. We stayed one night, left the car there for a week and they came to pick us up from the airport. Amazing customer service. In the morning the Front Desk attendant was courteous and offered us another breakfast bag. The shuttle was quick and dropped us off right at the curb. We were in and out in under 10 hours, so I can't speak at all to the amenities.

The phone didn't work, there was only one towel and two of us. We tried to get an extra towel twice with no delivery until the next day well after having left for the day. Staff were nice but seemed short handed.
Some staff memebers were really kind. I did an early check in and the desk agent were really kind. The room was really clean and comfortable. The food was great. It was a peaceful stay. Thank You! I paid for the Full Breakfast, for Wifi and Club Lounge offer and when I was enjoying my breakfast the waitress came to me with almost a $32.00 bill. I had to explain her and the desk agent over and over again that it was inclueded and had to show my confirmation email. They said they dont accept does confirmation emails and had to talk to the manager so they can fix it. It was an awkward experience for me and my guest. But overall everything else was excelent. Just some employees that gave us a hard time. Perhaps next time I would go to another hotel that doesnt have that kind of employees with negative and disrespectful attitude. Also the club was closed and we didn't know until we got there. We had to make other last minute plans because of that. They did try to make it up to us but never got my appetizer voucher they told me they will give me instead.

Very comfortable and clean. All other hotels I have stayed in had access for free. I will not stay at this hotel again. The pool and hot tub opens at 5 pm. I was there for leisure, and i would have liked to use the pool and hot tub during the day. I will not stay at this hotel gain.

Overall it was a good choice for the money. Disappointed that they did not provide free internet. Travelers come to expect this in a fine hotel. The pool hours were inconvenient and not geared to young families. This was partially made up by having the Hilton Garden pool next door available. It was also disappointing to have the Jacuzzi not functioning.

The room was clean, and the staff was polite as well. I called the front desk when I arrived at the airport; though they told me the driver would be there soon, it took 45 minutes of standing in the cold. I had to call the front desk a few times - the lady at the front desk said that the driver picked up some people and came back. I had to explain to her that he neglected to pick me up, and that I was waiting in the cold. Also, the business center was offline, so I couldn't print my boarding pass, and the coffee pot in the room was broken as well.

Terrible flashing light on smoke detector in bedroom made sleep impossible. Heating unit didn't work and was terribly loud. Sympathetic blankets and tiny than bed pillows made it feel like Comfort Inn than a Hyatt. Would never ever return.
Staff was very friendly, helpful & welcoming! Room was very large & beds were extremely comfortable. Morning breakfast buffet was very good with many choices, even cooked to order egg station. Free airport shuttle - just call hotel when you arrive. A very nice feature was that the hotel shuttle will take you to restaurants, malls, etc. within a 5 mile radius. When you are ready to return simply call the hotel and the shuttle will pick you up. Very nice feature!!!

Very clean and comfortable room about 5 minutes from the airport. The decor was attractive and tasteful, and the free cookies were pretty good. Please note that that you should call the hotel when you land to request the airport shuttle van. The shuttle arrived very quickly, to and from the airport, however the driver was not sure about which airline was at which terminal, so be sure you know that information beforehand. I was told they charge a $20 fee for checking in early (before 3PM), which seems a bit harsh for an airport hotel with a 24 hr front desk. Also, I booked this room to rest during a layover after a long international flight and requested a wakeup call. The wakeup call didn't happen and I missed my next flight. (I also set an alarm on my phone that didn't go off, so it's my bad also.)
Nice new facilities and comfy bed. Breakfast was better than most. i asked for a view and had room 214, which has a "view" of a wall
Very quiet…clean rooms On Sunday morning, the breakfast area was a mess. Had to wipe our own table down with water and a napkin. The garbage was full…unable to put anymore trash in there. The quality of food was also poor….next time, Im going out for breakfast.
The location is fine and the room was pleasant- The complimentary hot breakfast is good. The explanation of how to find the only restaurant within walking distance at the reception made an error of omission by not saying that that restaurant is in the same complex as a competing hotel chain. This made it hard to find. More in general, the reception was too businesslike.

Duvet was beautiful and homey. Room was good for two people only. Vending machines weren't on the floor of the rooms.
The rooms were clean and well kept, pool and hot tub were great as well as fitness center. Breakfast every morning was delicious and well attended to. Overall a great experience. The hotel shuttle only went to one airport (Dulles) and there is no metro availability at that airport, so you need to drive to get anywhere you need to go (other than the airport).

I LOVED this hotel. We had such a great experience here that started with our check-in process. Gina helped us and she was SO friendly & SO helpful with our questions. We stayed over night after a week long vacation on our way home. I was a little leery due to it being so reasonably priced- wasn't sure if we would have a "you get what you pay for" experience, but that wasn't the case. We had such a comfortable bed. The room was so clean. We had a nice few of planes landing outside. The hotel has free hot coffee in the lobby 24 hours- which was great for when we arrived. The bathroom and room were spacious. The shower was awesome. Most hotels have a tub, this was just a shower but so nice- The breakfast- we expected just cereal or bagels & pastries. There were hot items available as well as waffle maker, pastries, fruit, yogurt... juice options. overall really nice hotel. It was pretty close to the nearest metro station (within driving distance, not walking). We would definitely stay here again!! we didn't dislike a single thing!

Nothing They gave me a smoking room without telling me. It was like walking into an ashtray. When I complained, they said they were full and sent me packing. No offer to find me a habitable room.

Everything was very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the friendly staff and the breakfast was an added bonus. A good buy for your money.
Beds were comfortable, TV outstanding Bathrooms were needing deep cleaning.

booked through kayak.com which used getaroom.com but when i arrived they did not have a hotel reservation on file nor any rooms available. It was 1230am with no options. I had a email confirmation but nothing on the Hyatt side.
