Oyado Hana - Nachikatsuura - Hotel amenity
1
8.9 Excellent (815 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located just across the street from Katsuura Station and ideally situated for business and sightseeing alike. Heartwarming little hotel with lots of lovely "handmade" touches. Take a wonderfully refreshing bath in the naturally sourced onsen. Qigong (Chinese breathing exercises) clinic located in the hotel. Why not soothe away the aches and pains of a long day's traveling?
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The place was very clean, the free use of the private indoor onsen was relaxing, and the owners/staff were helpful and polite. It was pretty much everything a basic minshuku should be.
Cons: The wifi was slow/overloaded, so we ended up using more of our limited data on our rented portable wifi. We probably shouldn't have booked the traditional tatami room because I find it hard to sleep when on an extremely hard surface, but this was definitely the thinnest/most traditional/least cushioning futon we slept on during our trip.
7.9 Good
Pros: The private onsen bath is small but very nice
Cons: The walls are very thin and you'll hear everyone getting a glass of water at night or brushing teeth in the shared area - be prepared to wake up at 6.00am
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful owners. Tea and coffee when you want it. Clean. Right next to the train station
Cons: The beds were on the ground because it is a traditional Japanese stay, so if you expect a comfortable bed, it’s not really ideal. In the morning you can only shower between 06:00 and 09:00 so if a lot of people want to shower in the morning, there is not much time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: perfect location for trips (3 min. to bus and train station) helpful and nice host comfortable futons onsen for free storage of the baggage for free big room
Cons: staff don't speak english well
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very central
Cons: None
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and really nice and helpful stuff. Thanks for everything and all the best!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very cute house. Staff helpful. Close to everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hostel totally exceeded our expectations. The location is amazing - right by the station - and perfect for our post-hike recovery! It's spacious, clean and has the feeling of being well loved. Unlike other hostels, it's not cramped nor sterile; more like a home, with cute personal touches. We really appreciated the owner letting us check-in a little early and get into the private onsen - just what our legs needed. Our private double room was light-filled, comfortable and had everything we needed. Despite being close to the station, it wasn't too noisy and we slept super well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and recommend this place as an excellent value option!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is very near kiikatsura stn though it's on the more quiet side of the stn. Also, the room is extremely big for 3 people
Cons: The place is very old. Due to the age, many broken tiles and stains in the bathroom giving it an old and dirty look. Also, i emailed the property twice via booking.com but never got any reply
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious - for two people. It seemed huge after staying in an ordinary hotel where rooms are tiny. This was more like a traditional ryokan. The bathroom was shared and never never had a problem using it - didn't see other people. The onsen was very nice too - small but very nice. There are free drinks in a shared area - tea, coffee and miso soup, which we took to our room. The place is very clean and we got fresh bedlinen and yukata each day - we only stay two nights. It is a small town and the lack of hordes of tourists pushing you around was a welcome change. The footbath by the station was a bonus too.
Cons: I wished I had stayed there longer. There is no internet but we had a sakura mobile router. It was good not having internet so we could actually enjoy the place instead of checking emails and browsing the net all the time - tend to do that when you have free wifi.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed only one night. The place is clean and very close to the station. It was a good option.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: close to the train station, very nice Japanese traditional breakfast
Cons: The WIFI in the hotel is very poor
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owner & staff - they assisted us in carpark & finding places of interests & restaurants to eat Good breakfast in Japanese setting
Cons: All rooms should be strictly for non-smoking guests
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice onsen and great home made breakfast

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Many onsens in the area and best tuna in japan!
Cons: Smaller room, but comfortable...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private toilet was nice, also liked the fancy sink and private AC unit. It was in a convenient location pretty near the main train station and quiet at night. I appreciated the many tourist information booklets in the room too which helped me find a great tuna sushi restaurant nearby! The staff were polite and accommodating, letting me do slightly late check-in and held my luggage for me after check-out. They also specifically aired out the tatami mats and linens for me since I'm a non-smoker which made a big difference (no discomfort or smell!) Nachi-Katsurra is also just an amazing place so I really enjoyed my trip overall! Nachi Fire Festival and delicious tuna were the highlights for me!
Cons: Not a big problem for me, but there's no elevator.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good value, clean and easy to find from the station. Guest house, no food provided. Tatami floored bedroom with two bunk beds, Comfortable and roomy. Quiet.
Cons: Only one onsen bathroom. No shower in the bedroom(just a toilet and sink) and the onsen was closed in the morning(from 10pm the previous evening). Smoking from other rooms leaked smells into the corridor(though not our bedroom).
7.1 Good
Pros: En suite toilet.
Cons: Only the basics, had to pay for towel toothbrush. Very thin futon, no spare. No tissues, soap in room.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is good, 5 minutes walk to train and bus station. Basic Japanese traditional rooms. Clean. It was a smoking room but I did not realize a strong smell, luckily.
Cons: Room a bit small, and futons not very comfortable (compared to other places we stayed) but in terms of price/quality, overall is recommended.
5.8 Okay
Cons: I accidentally found small cockroach on the floor near my bed :(
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The tatami mat room, clean futon and a fridge, sink and toilet provided in the room!
Cons: It would have been great if there would have been a cold and hot water dispenser and some coffee and tea. Shower room could be a bit better (felt like sharing the family’s personal bathroom and it probably was)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cleanness. Value for money. Toilet and basin in each room.
Cons: There's only one bath for the whole establishment. Besides it opens only from 16.00-22.00 .

Pros: Bath was good.
Cons: Both side of corridor to the reception were filled with noisy game machines. Baths are too far to get to.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: special onsen in hole
5.4 Okay
Cons: A bit old fashioned
4.0 Okay
Pros: Really,nothing
Cons: Under massive renovation, beach access not possible. Staff not helpful, does not volunteer any information. Crowds of bus tours.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: The cave onsen was absolutely spectacular. It was a special experience I will never forget in my entire life. The dinner and breakfast buffets were both extremely impressive with a huge variety of traditional Japanese food.
Cons: The lobby areas and common spaces around the hotel are extremely dated. It felt like being in a 1960s era James Bond film walking to our room. Once in our room though we were very impressed with the beautiful view of the ocean and the lovely Japanese decor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed staying at hotel Urashima. The staff was very friendly and could speak english. Rooms were very clean and cute. Onsens were super fun-clean and beautiful and many different to choose from (my friend has a tattoo, he just covered it properly and he was allowed to enter). We had breakfast and dinner included which was really good-buffet, really good fish (you also have a tuna show at dinner) and really good noodles and all sorts of other food. On the top of the hotel/hill of the hotel there is a really nice view point where you can see the whole ocean and also sunrise in the morning, there is also a small shrine on top-really nice. It is really easy to find the hotel from Kii-Katsuura station and you get to the hotel with this small boat which operates very frequently. I would definitely recommend this Onsen, it is really nice, cave Onsen is really cool where you can look at the sea, food is great and the place is really calm so we could really relax there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: First experience with cave onsen
Cons: No body cream provided after onsen
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel located in a good spot, many onsens to choose (indoor/outdoor), the staffs was nice and helpful.
Cons: The building was quite old, and need to do some renovations. The hotel has a lot of space and it would be better to improve the walkway to onsen to be less puzzling, we get lost while we’re trying to go to every onsen in the hotel
6.3 Good
Pros: Good onsen and good view.
Cons: It's under construction some part.
Inn Sun Katsuura - Nachikatsuura - Building

8.0 Excellent (301 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at SUNRISE KATSUURA in Nachikatsuura, you'll be just steps from Yunomine Onsen and Kawayu Onsen. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Views from the room. The traditional room itself. The gallery is top to take your time to enjoy of a book. The men's onsen is good enough. The breakfast was good.
6.3 Good
Pros: The bed was extremely comfy, the best we have experienced in Japan. The room was very spacious. Vending machines are within the building to avoid having to leave for odd drinks
Cons: The onsen is the only option for cleaning and is not available until the time check out opens so if like us you want to wash the morning of check out you miss the chance to start hiking and exploring early. The interior looks dated
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable beds in nice room. Good onsen and free bikes for 30 minutes. Friendly staff.
Cons: Assumed we had a sea front room from photos, but room faced the hills. We chose the hotel for the sea frontage, even though it is a short walk out of town centre. If you don’t get a sea view, may as well stay in town centre.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ocean view was very special. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves and awoke to a beautiful sunrise. A short walk away we ate at Meharzuchi nidame. The Best! The women running the breakfast room were so nice. We also enjoyed the onsen.
Cons: -
6.0 Good
Cons: Coffee in the room would have been good.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good view direct to the sea. Good spring, delicious breakfast and nice staff.
Cons: If there is service to pick people up at the train station, it would be perfect. Because the town is so small, there is no bus between the hotel and station. People need to walk for about 10 minutes to get there. If you have big suitcases, then...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spacious rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: Onsen views to the ocean were excellent. The hotel was clean and the views from the rooms outstanding. The Izyaka 大漁 just two blocks away was phenomenal and better to eat at than the hotel.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dark and felt they need an update. The breakfast is only traditional Japanese that if you are not for cooking your own fish in the morning not the most useful. Checkout at 10am is a little too early.

Pros: Warm, friendly hosts and a delicious breakfast.
Cons: Nothing
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice and quite place
Cons: Futon were a bit uncomfortable and bath is only available from 16.00 to 22.00
7.9 Good
Pros: The breakfast was great and the location is about a five minute walk from the station and area with great tuna restaurants. The private baths were nice!
Cons: There were a couple mosquitoes in my room at night so some sort of citronella diffuser or bug spray might help. Rooms are smoking, so they smell a bit like smoke.
7.1 Good
Pros: The onsen baths were lovely, constructed of granite, and very clean. Breakfast was ample and varied.
Cons: There are no non-smoking rooms available, and they notified me of this. So the room had some smoke smell, which dissipated after leaving the window open and using the air freshener they supplied. But I am just too old for sleeping on a thin futon on the floor.

7.9 Good
Pros: Room with nice sea view, and quite large; Very good western and Japanese buffet breakfast; Excellent value for money buffet diner (we recommend choosing it); Nice indoor and outdoor Onsen next to the sea.
Cons: Air conditioning is a little bit old and noisy; The rooms and hotel in general are quite old fashioned and may deserve some renovation/modernization.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Japanese dinner in our room was amazing!
Cons: Toilet was poorly ventilated
6.3 Good
Cons: Room had a really bad smell of smoke. Balcony was dirty.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the traditional Japanese room with a lovely view of the sea. Close to the station and restaurants. Fabulous Onsen.
Cons: It smelled quite bad - the rooms are all smoking and they just spray air fresheners to try to cover this.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Dinner was just awesome, all the service, display and food was absolutely spectacular.
7.1 Good
Pros: The Room with external Bath was beautiful and very cosy.
Cons: The hotel IS old, has no place to take a coffee ans thé swimming pool is poor.
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfortable hotel not too far from the train station with outdoor hot spring facilities which have a view of the sea (if you stand up). They also have a small private bath which can be reserved for fifty minutes at a time for an additional charge. It is secluded, but outside. Also much hotter than the public bath. It met my expectations, which were not particularly high. The staff were kind and considerate, if a little nervous when dealing with foreign customers. The sea view from my room was great!
Cons: The facility is quite dated and it shows--rough around the edges, not the cleanest. The breakfast is acceptable, but not up to much. The staff are friendly, and some attempted to use English, but others were clearly quite nervous when dealing with foreign customers. Had a great view of the sea from my room, but the large window wasn't very clean. If I was expecting a much more modern, squeaky clean experience this wouldn't have been ideal--but I've come to know what to expect from these out-of-the-way resorts which must have seen better days once upon a time.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room balcony.... fantastic lookout over the bay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was really nice to have a good first experience staying in Onsen resort. This place was really fantastic with inside and outside onsen. My family really appreciated and would definitely be back here again. Good service for shuttle bus pickup from Kii-Katsuura station. Valuable for breakfast as it’s fabulous. I would really recommend to stay here.
7.5 Good
Pros: Onsen facility, good breakfast, helpful and friendly staff. Nice ocran view from room.
Cons: Although there is shuttle bus to and from station, not suitable for walking traveller particularly in nighttime going through some dark area with no night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The public onsen next to the sea is magic. The views of the room are amazing They offer a shuttle to go to town and to pick you up when you need (only in certain hours). Otherwise it's just 15-20 min walk to town
Cons: The staff didn't speak any English, communication wasn't easy
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the nostalgic atmosphere of the hotel - there was a kinda melancholic feeling which I loved. The room was really something and the view! we loved to have a tea vith a seaview from our balcony :) the free shuttle to Kii katsura station really was the thing to help me decide to stay here :) For the price it was great! And the amenities like having a bb cream in the onsen is a great idea and the quolity of the amenities is exeptional.
Cons: The open air onsen is great thing - just be prepared that it really is in the nature, so there were a lot of bugs and one even bited my husband :( Bugs are also on the way next to the sea. i do not know if it is something they coud do moething about, but it kinda made me unconfortable... But still the onsens both indoor and outdoor are something special. This place could use some renovations ...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The seaview from the room is fantastic. The room is big. The open air hot spring is nice but a bit too small.
Cons: It is located in a place really really remote, I walked from the train station and it took 25 mins and I had to walk through two very dark tunnels. The hotel could send a car to pick you up but you have to call the hotel in advance. They didn't inform me when I do the booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rotenburo.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: The Onsen was very good and the view was spectacular.
Cons: The hotel itself was quite old fashioned. The Reaturaunt was closed in the evenings. We had to walk 20 minutes into town to get dinner.

Pros: I liked the ocean view
Cons: Size of the bathroom and towels
7.5 Good
Pros: The view to the sea is really nice. In two minutes walking you are in the beach. And you get a ticket to go to the onsen of another hotel nearby.
Cons: They don't have elevator and the breakfast is completely Japanese, sone rice, soup and a bit of fish and eggs.
7.5 Good
Pros: The rooms were nice and spacious and comfortable
Cons: The beds were a little uncomfortable. I kept hearing noises throughout the night, maybe workers?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Comfy, helpful staff, very clean. Free use of washing machine. Sashimi for breakfast,
Cons: Infrequent train and bus service to main town.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff who tried his best to explain everything in English, very good japanese breakfast, and the opportunity to use the relaxing and comfortable onsen in the sister hotel
Cons: It's a 10 min walk to the sister hotel
