Enjoy a peaceful vacation any time of the year on our private and secluded waterfront peninsula on a hill overlooking a tidal saltwater creek, where crabbing, kayaking, fishing or just relaxing await you. Conveniently located between Cape Charles and Onancock, two of our most popular towns. You'll likely spot great blue herons, osprey, egrets, bald eagles, deer or wild turkey. Our one bedroom cottage sleeps two (sorry, no smokers) and features a great room, bedroom with queen bed, bath with shower, walk in closet, laundry room and front porch overlooking the water. Catch blue crabs or try for a fish off the dock, enjoy our inground pool (seasonal), or use our kayaks and canoe to explore the cove and marshes. Bring your own motorboat and use the boat ramp just four miles away for Chesapeake Bay fishing (no license required if fishing from the Morley's Wharf dock). Bike or walk down the dead end road at the end of our driveway or venture out to one of several recommended hiking trails. The fall season brings lovely colors, and occasionally we get snowed in during winter months, a real treat! Our modern cottage features a comfortable queen size bed; bathroom with shower; robes, toiletries, beach towels, ceiling fans, free WiFi, A/C, Satellite TV-DVD, CD/radio with bluetooth and USB charging ports. In the morning, enjoy coffee on the porch or the dock overlooking our tranquil view. Our coastal decor includes locally-designed dinnerware decorated with blue crabs. We have a fully-loaded kitchen where you can steam your own crabs and prepare all meals. The cottage also has lots of board games, DVDs, CDs and a washer/dryer. Great front porch with tables and chairs to enjoy the water view, along with a charcoal grill (we supply charcoal). We also have an herb garden by the cottage. SORRY but no pets. Feel free to enjoy our swimming pool, open top kayaks and a canoe, along with crabbing off the dock and several outdoor table areas. Fishing gear if needed. We have safety vests, beach towels, small cooler, beach chairs and umbrella etc. We will be glad to teach you how to catch, cook and eat crabs, or kayak. Our typical summertime guest experience involves us helping you catch crabs, teaching you how to cook the crabs, and working together (frequently) to pick out the meat. Jim will be thrilled to tell you how to make crab cakes! We are usually around, so feel free to ask questions or join us for a chat on the porch. Our location is so secluded that most of our guests don't want to leave once they get here. The dead end paved road by our driveway has very little traffic and is great for biking or hiking. We are eight miles from U.S. Route 13, the major north-south thoroughfare on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Virginia Beach is an hour south, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. We are off the beaten track, about half an hour north of Cape Charles where there's a public sandy beach, and an hour south of Chincoteague and Assateague Island, where the wild ponies roam. We are pleased to offer restaurant and tourism information, or lessons in crabbing, kayaking or fishing. We are located just five minutes from YMCA Camp Silver Beach and eight miles from Exmore where there is a grocery store, liquor store and a pharmacy. Restaurant recommendations are 10-22 miles away. We have an award-winning local winery (Chatham Vineyards), a huge antique mall (Blue Crow Antique Mall) and many quaint and charming villages for you to explore. Rates listed include our local and state taxes of 10.3%. Rates are generally lower from fall through spring. Minimum 3 night stay, unless we have availability at the last minute. We will accept less than 3 night rentals for a $25.00 cleaning fee. This will be rebated to you if you return for a stay of 3 or more nights. Once you have confirmed your stay, we will send you helpful information. No smoking. We request that you do not go into the woods or fields surrounding our property due to poison ivy, ticks, chiggers etc.
