Great service and helpful staff. They have a convenient shuttle that drops you of and picks you up from the Tongiriro crossing trail, which is $30pp or included in some packages. The room was very dated. The room was not completely clean. My wife is allergic to pet dander/hair, so when we got in the room she had an instant reaction. Not sure what it was, but shows the room was not deep cleaned in a while.
It's was lovely across the board.
The staff were top quality/classy. The room and bed were very comfortable. The decor and ambience felt regal and reminded me of a time long past, when everything was better. The Cafe meals could be improved. More attention to quality and detail required.
We loved the way the hotel is maintained and the history made alive. It is architecturally impressive. Our dinner was very good. It would help it you had a light in the closet. It was hard to see things in my suitcase.
The warm surroundings on a wet cold day, the piano playing. A bit dated, and poor leisure facilities in the lounge, no board games, only one billiard table. Swimming pool in the dungeons. Outdoor parking, you get very wet when it is raining.
Old world elegance. Large, comfortable room with lovely views. Sitting in the great room listening to the pianist was also a highlight. Our visit was too short!
The views were spectacular the location likewise. Staff at a good standard and the meals were acceptable. Nothing springs to mind.
the architecture of hotel ,natue and snow food has room for improvment.,could have own bakery and patisserie for bred and cakes ,as non hotel guests would buy a lot....pastrie at brekfest was old and stale..
A magnificent building with lovely ambience. The large fire in the gorgeous lounge was welcoming and the restaurant was second to none. Our room upgrade was a bonus.
Rooms were much more presentable than what appears in the photos on the website. The rooms were comfortable, and the common areas were lovely and had great views. The access to coin washers / dryers is also very handy for long-term travellers. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The charge for Internet was very high. I think high-end hotels should consider Internet essential - and, if it's not available for free in the room, should at least provide access to a business centre at no charge.
A very pleasant stay with plenty of options and comfort
The luxury of the chateau in a wilderness area. The steps from reception to the foyer - only a few but with a heavy bag a ramp would have been more convenient.
staff in bar and dining areas excellent... no bedside reading lamps
The staff was very nice. The room has no TV. The sink was very small. The smallest one I ever seen before. It had no heating either. The room was cold. The outside temperature in the morning was only 4 C. Both of us caught cold after spent a uncomfortable night there.
Nice and close to the ski fields The beds really need some new mattresses, I found them a little too thin. Staff were not the most friendly
The family style kitchen was nice. I also liked the communal family room with fireplace. The staff was not friendly upon check in.
After i had booked i read some reviews of this lodge and they werent good so i thought we would not be happy about the accomodation. As it turned out the host was very friendly and the accomodation very clean and comfortable.
The hotel staff was friendly and helped me get to the right starting point for my Tramp Around The Mountain.
I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and especially the warm fire and big TV to watch the rubgy. Drying facilities for wet ski gear were much appreciated. Fortunately I brought my own towel. From the web site booking I didn't really understand that the rome was quite so basic. No complaints though. All very clean, comfortable and adequate. Maybe I just didn't read the web site carefully enough.
