Pros: Hot tubs!! And the lounge was super. Love that solar power is used to power the place.
Cons: Nothing really. Extra $ for towels but didn’t bother us so much
Pros: Our family of 14 absolutely loved everything about Pipers lodge. Hassle free, homely and all the necessities we needed. Owners are friendly and made us feel so welcome from check in to check out. We will def be back!!
Pros: Location. Lounge/games room
Cons: The room was like an ice box due to the heater being terribly weak. Only one power point in room but it was up high. No hot water in tap
Pros: Nice facilities, nice staff, good food
Cons: Squeeky beds
Pros: Dry room to dry damp clothes
Cons: If bathrooms are communal, then need to be checked periodically as not all guests are conscious of cleaning & drying up behind themselves which is unfair to others.
Pros: snow in every where
Cons: the shared area
Pros: Fair for the price
Cons: The owner was a bit rude
Pros: The staff in the lounge/ bar was so polite and friendly, he let us stay at the lounge beyond the closing time and even turn up the heater to keep us warm
Cons: Maybe they have to upgrade some facilities in the hotel
Pros: Very clean and great facilities in reasonable price. Friendly environment ,good staff and me and my partner loved the comfort we felt in the Lodge. Doing great work ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cons: Washrooms on the outside had no hot water and tap in room didn't had hot water either. We had to use washrooms near drying room & hot water bath area, but they were not too far from our room. Still would rate it with five stars because rest was great.

Pros: Warm & cozy rooms. Close to Tongariro National Park & Mt Ruapehu.
Pros: Lovely room and view. Friendly and approachable staff.
Cons: We haven’t had the chance to experience hot jacuzzi coz it’s close already when we arrive but it’s all good.

Pros: -Free access to spa pool and lovely fire place -very clean toilet and shower
Cons: - the wall is really thin so you can hear everything that was going on in other room.
Cons: I expected the staff was friendly and more interactive, but while checking the staff was close to rude as if they are doing me a favour of me coming to their property paid $220 for a night stay. While checking out the lady just cracked opened the office door took the key handed me the receipt and closed the door. No thanks no questions about the stay no farewell conversations. For family stay of 5 was given only 6 milk fridge hotel pack, and expected us to use that for dinner and breakfast, Upon asking for little extra, questions were asked that isn't there any milk, are you staying tomorrow, and then was given another 5. Staff relation was pathetic Didnt expect that as I read the reviews before I booked the property. Rude staff
Pros: The room was very clean. Staff are friendly. location was great.
Cons: Sound proofing on the rooms
Pros: Room set up and warm. Easy check in and out. Excellent for family stay.

Pros: Comfy, clean, friendly staff
Pros: Friendly service.
Pros: Fantastic location, everything you need. Clean and comfortable, a short drive away from the ski slopes which the owners take care of for you.
Pros: Super rude lady on reception, just cancel my booking with them at mid night and leave the motel .
Cons: Nothing to like about this place after entering saw that angry rude lady face in reception. Will never recomend this place .

Pros: The hostel has a really big kitchen and a beautifil living room. Our room had private toilet and a little fridge, and a heater as well. It was very comfortable and warm :) all was clean and tidy
Pros: Amazing hidden Narnia room. Cool common room with fireplace, tons of movies and games for rainy day.
Cons: Location of room to lounge and noisy people at night
Pros: Wonderful kitchen with lot of space
Cons: The heater on the room is not working.
Pros: The free spa pool was awesome, i also like the fact that the kitchen is clean and big. They also have free coffee and hot chocolate. Good temperature inside the room, kept us warm and toasty in a very cold night.
Cons: Bed is a bit too bouncy for my preference...
Pros: Good roomy kitchen, clean bathroom
Cons: Main issue was our bedroom which was in a separate old building across the carpark. Not convenient to access kitchen/lounge in the other building. Room temperature in the bedroom was a problem. Central heating quicks off early evening so room is cold during the day if you want to stay there. And it was too hot at night for sleeping. Very little control apart from a vent you can open/close. We found the bedroom either too hot or too cold. Also no rubbish bin in the bedroom which would be handy.
Pros: Very well stocked kitchen and overall good atmosphere/mood.
Cons: Internet was slow and limited to 200 mb (but that is expected in the mountains).
Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Heater in our room. It would be freezing without it. Peaceful and quiet. Great facilities, awesome kitchen. SPA! Helpful and nice staff. Great playroom. Beautiful surroundings.
Cons: The little fridge and hand basin weren't clean.
Pros: Basic but comfortable and clean accommodations. Good hot showers and drying room for ski gear. Kids loved the entertainment room, played ping pong and pool and watched movies in Narnia room. Kitchen was big and had all we needed for cooking and storing food. Big comfortable dining area. Cost of accommodation was reasonable. Hosts were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Cons: Couches were a bit grubby and kids complained the room was too hot to sleep (but they are very busy and active) in but I found it perfect as I like it warm!
Pros: Staff,location and hospitality.
Cons: Great place to stay with helpful and amazing staff. Owner of the place Chris is a great and helpful host. I loved it will definitely stay again

Pros: We liked the location, clean, parking.
Cons: The sink was extremely small, very uncomfortable to wash your face and even wash your teeth. The price was extremely high for the things the place offers.
Pros: Ease of access to food & entertainment Beautiful scenery, gorgeous location
Pros: We had a great stay, rooms were exceptionally clean, bed comfortable, and the pool was lovely we will definitely be back
Pros: Cozy little room. Location was perfect for Tongariro National Park & Mt Ruapehu. Complimentary Wifi which is a bonus. Easy to find and access to property was very simple. Definately stay again.
Pros: Relaxing location, true alpine!
Pros: The spa and swimming pool was incredible, so relaxing and peaceful! The room itself was very clean and modern, a bit small however it worked for us, the accommodation is a great stopover for a night or two. We were going into Ohakune so I found it a little far for where we were going but would defiantly recommend.
Pros: The room is modern, clean and tidy.
Cons: Tiny bathroom. No Television.
Pros: Cleanliness, location is ok, easy to find, safe environment and surroundings, spa and hot pool
Cons: no chair in the room - we appreciate a small folded chair basin is pretty tiny =no good for normal use no fill up for tea, toiletries and water we had to buy ours NO TV - was very boring at night the price is high , i guess 120NZD is fair need more lights by the hot pool area - luckily we brought our torch with us Honest and direct feedback is the only way to improvement - no hard feeling!
Pros: We liked everything! Great location, great facilities and nice little surprises in the room when you arrive
Pros: The self service facilities were great! And the spa facilities were fantastic

Pros: public kitchen and parking
Pros: Was very close to the mountain which was very helpful. Checking out was simple.
Cons: less facilities inside my private room but it's ok for shared kitchen.
Pros: We enjoy the fact that there’s a awesome restaurant/bar on the front of yr property
Cons: The big bed could be bigger
Pros: I love our room with private bathroom
Cons: Top of bathroom ceiling, spots of water tripping to the floor, heat fan has turned on, otherwise everything was all good.
Pros: great location
Cons: expensive for what it is
Pros: Close to the ski field
Cons: Room was low quality and quite costly. Didn't even have any bedside table. No towel provided. Very basic bathroom.
Pros: It’s so handy to everything you need for a great trip and an easy stay! We booked a twin room with private bathroom, cozy and clean for 3 of us (1 single 1 double beds). The kitchen is huge and has a good atmosphere with people from all over the world, including some working holiday staff working at ski field. The manager Anna was really nice and easy to deal with. We loved the reasonably priced shuttle bus to and from the ski field at our preferred time on the last day. A perfect ending! Will definitely come back again next year.

Also included is a communal dining area and shared bathrooms for guests. Guests can enjoy a game of billiards at National Park Alpine Lodge or relax by the fireplace. Tongariro Alpine Crossing is a 25 minute drive from the property.
Pros: It’s cheap and basic but served my needs for a solo ski weekend. My single room was warm and the bed was comfortable. I never had to wait for a shower or toilet, both of which were right opposite my room. The storage room for ski gear was handy and very close to where I could park my car. Joy gave me a friendly welcome and was very helpful.
Cons: It’s a little tired (I think it’s the old railway hotel) and the kitchen facilities possibly aren’t as clean and good as another similar establishment nearby that I stayed at recently. It’s mainly backpackers on short visits or ski industry workers living here for the season that were staying here, I think. This is fine but if you’re wanting flash, you’ll need to spend a bit more.
Pros: Spotlessly clean, lovely bed, off street parking
Cons: The entire property is a bit dilapidated and there was little heating in the middle of winter
Pros: The room was very warm and cozy.
Cons: The room was very warm and cozy with the eletric heather and the eletric blankets, but the rest of the property was not. Some work on making the whole property more warm would make a huge difference as my wife and daughter complained a lot about taking shower in a very cold bathroom.
Pros: The bed is extra comfy. The duvet is very warm, which is extremely helpful in this cold area. It's also convenient that a dairy store is right in the property.
Cons: It would be great if there were more showers. And cleaner.
Pros: Location close to main road and the personal very accomudate
Cons: Room to small for 2 person
Pros: Well maintained excellent kitchen friendly staff
Pros: The heated blankets were literally a life saver.
Cons: The whole property had no heating what so ever. Not sure if the heating was broke or they were just trying to save money. But when the temperature outside is in the minuses and you’re surrounded by snowy mountains you cannot expect customers to pay to stay here! Whilst trying to keep warm we had the electric heater plugged in along with our phone on charge. Somehow this tripped the electrics, seemed like we weren’t the only ones as there were others outside our room complaining of the same issues. The owners resolved it by showing us which electric belonged to our room so we could flick it if it went off again - not sure that this is appropriate! In the morning as soon as we got out of bed we had to layer up and even wear our coats in our room. Which is completely unacceptable. We didn’t even bother having a shower because the idea of taking our clothes off in this freezing hotel was not something we wanted to even consider!
Pros: Bed was very comfy and the heater was excellent in heating up the room. Cosy and good for one person
Cons: Facilities were a bit old, shower maybe needs updating
Pros: Bed was very comfy and the electric blanket was fantastic.

Pros: The staff The position between Whakapapa and Turoa The restaurant
Cons: Too noisy!!! If you want to sleep well use earplugs... Equipment in the room: a microwave would have been great Happy hour just for beers...
Pros: Good location and jot croissants for breakfast. Well heated rooms
Cons: Very thin walls and squeaky sealing: not comfortable to sleep in a ground floor room when people passing by the door and top floor neighbors marching above
Cons: Having stayed here on several previous occasions and was always impressed, but this time I was a little disappointed with room 16 which seemed to be in process of refurbishment. There was green masking tape in places plus we were not able to shut the bathroom door if we were having a shower due to a towel rail attached to the sliding bathroom door, meaning that it had to be open at least 6 inches
Cons: Don't fall into the expensive trap. No wifi reach to your rooms. Appalling. Absolutely unpalatable food in the restaurant. Poor lighting in the passage. Can go on. Look for cheaper options with better facilities folks.
Cons: Everything is very different from the picture uploaded by them. Toilet door can't be close fully at all and you can't open the bathroom door if the toilet door is draw close. If bathroom door is open, you can't close the toilet door. There's no phone in the room for you to call for room service, lights are dim and basin is so small that you can't even fill up the kettle. There's also no cupboard or wardrobe or closet to hang your clothes, no door latch and peephole which makes it very unsafe and no signage provided for 'do not disturb'.
Cons: Spa was shut too early
Pros: Clean, tidy, warm and accessible
Cons: We could hear the noise from the other rooms
Pros: Great Location! Nice place for a short stay.
When you stay at Howard's Lodge - Hostel in National Park Village, you'll be next to a golf course and 12 minutes by car from Tongariro National Park Whakapapa Visitor Centre. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The room and all the other facilities were very clean. The staff is nice and helpful.
Cons: The walls are really thin and you can hear literally everything.
Pros: Friendly staff who made check-in and check-out a breeze. Rooms were fitted with a heater which was nice because we went in the middle of winter so the heater was definitely needed. Plenty of towels and free items in the bathroom such as shampoo, conditioner and soap.
Cons: The location of the spa. It was outside and, as it was winter, we had to step outside in our togs and run to the room where the spa is located. Would be much more convenient and comfortable if the spa was in the same building as the rooms/living spaces.
Pros: We like everything very organised , kitchen is very clean, room and the staffs are very friendly
Pros: location is good.
Cons: The cold water and hot water tap in bathroom are seperate.
Cons: Spring beds needs to be replaced plz...
Pros: -It has a spa -Able to have a private room at least
Cons: -Paper thin walls -Weird that the showers were male and female but the toilets weren’t -Room was cold and no extra blankets or pillows are provided -No control over the heater. Either hot or freezing -So much condensation on all the windows. Both in my room and all the hallway doors and windows
