Pros: In regards to the rooms to which they refer to as the "heritage rooms" these are majorly aged and need renovations. Overall pretty aged and poor. The external façade of the building certainly has charm and character though.
Would not stay again.
Cons: We were looking to book for another night and were quoted one rate (stated as the same rate we spent the previous night) but when called to confirm they denied this. Further, due to the miscommunication they provided we asked additional time to gather things and check out and were met with a rude response.
A great stay at Chateau Tongariro Hotel in Tongariro National Park can include a round of golf at the 9-hole course. You can splash around at the indoor pool, visit one of the 2 restaurants for a bite to eat, or unwind with a drink at the bar/lounge. Other highlights at this upscale hotel include a fitness center and a sauna, and rooms offer LCD TVs and refrigerators.
Pros: Great service and helpful staff. They have a convenient shuttle that drops you of and picks you up from the Tongiriro crossing trail, which is $30pp or included in some packages.
Cons: The room was very dated. The room was not completely clean. My wife is allergic to pet dander/hair, so when we got in the room she had an instant reaction. Not sure what it was, but shows the room was not deep cleaned in a while.
Pros: room from picture looks nice. good location to all the hiking trails. inside restaurant is convenient. kitchen is ok for simple cooking
Cons: room small and old kitchen is small, table/chairs need to be replaced
Skotel Alpine Resort features a ski shuttle and puts you near winter activities like downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing. After visiting the fitness center for a workout, guests who aren't on the slopes can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant or unwind with a drink at the bar/lounge. Other features include a spa tub, a sauna, and a terrace. Ski passes and storage are also available.
Pros: The hotel staff was friendly and helped me get to the right starting point for my Tramp Around The Mountain.
Pros: I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and especially the warm fire and big TV to watch the rubgy. Drying facilities for wet ski gear were much appreciated.
Cons: Fortunately I brought my own towel. From the web site booking I didn't really understand that the rome was quite so basic. No complaints though. All very clean, comfortable and adequate. Maybe I just didn't read the web site carefully enough.
Pros: The family style kitchen was nice. I also liked the communal family room with fireplace.
Cons: The staff was not friendly upon check in.
Pros: Nice and close to the ski fields
Cons: The beds really need some new mattresses, I found them a little too thin. Staff were not the most friendly
Pros: After i had booked i read some reviews of this lodge and they werent good so i thought we would not be happy about the accomodation. As it turned out the host was very friendly and the accomodation very clean and comfortable.
