Pros: The view of the Derwent river was spectacular. Our suite was very generous in size, spa was beautiful. Checking in process was made effortless by well trained staff.
Cons: Our accomodation exceeded our expectations, nothing to dislike!
4.0 Okay
Pros: You will feel the yack factor immediately crossing from hotel to the sorry attachment. While the bed is pretty good for comfortable sleep the rest, it doesn’t compensate for the rest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay with stunning views also when we arrived we had a lovely surprise as we were upgraded to a great apartment with gorgeous outlook over the bay.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: It’s in a casino with beautiful views. Just slightly out of downtown. 4 restaurants to choose from as well
Cons: Elevators in the motor inn and carpet in hallways is torn up
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Booked for Riverfront King Room - Water Edge and got upgraded to Harbour View Deluxe King on arrival. The view from the room was amazing!!! Would highly recommend booking this room in the future. Very outstanding service from staff. Especially Rocky who went out of his way to help us fix our faulty coffee machine. Plenty of facilities - swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym, mini golf. Has many on site restaurants and gift shop and games and casino, which provided loads of entertainment without leaving the hotel. The room was spacious and very comfortable and filled tastefully with many modern and beautiful decorations. The toilet was beautifully designed as well, and very clean, decked out with quality soaps and shampoos. The best part was, you can choose your pillows! They offer a range of quality pillows and you can request the different pillows from housekeeping. Overall a very worthy stay!
Cons: Carpark was a slightly distance away from Hotel. Would prefer if it was basement of hotel so that we did not have to lug out items from the car park to room and be exposed to cold wind or rain. With that being said, it was only a 5mins walk and flat, with plenty of parkings available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my favorite place to stay in Hobart. I travel to Hobart from Melbourne for work every week. The new rooms in the tower are beautifully appointed, I always get a great view of the harbour, the bed is so comfy I never want to leave. The room service option is fabulous when you're travelling alone, but if you feel like being amongst people, the bars, restaurants & casino are a great place to be. The buffet dinner at one restaurant is amazing and the buffet breakfasts are to die for! Couldn't recommend this place enough.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great view and a comfortable room
Cons: Many services were shut down and unavailable due to government instructions for containing the corona virus. The guest laundry, restaurants and buffet area were closed, and the bistro and cafe were only open for a limited takeaway service. Had these services been available, the hotel would have met most of my expectations. My one wish was that the guest car parking was in closer proximity to the accommodation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: THE 4TH FL ROOM WAS CLEAN AND WELL PRESENTED, GOOD TOWELS SOFT BED WITH GOOD LINEN.
Cons: NOTHING TO REPORT

MACq 01 Hotel - Hobart - Building
6
9.6 Excellent (1,400 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A STORYTELLING HOTELThe sea breeze that whistles along Hunter Street on Hobart's waterfront carries a thousand captivating stories of those that were here before us - a cast of remarkable characters, each with an intriguing story to tell. In this very place, the Mouheneenner people fished and forged dreams in the shallows of the River Derwent; the first Europeans set foot ashore Van Diemen's Land and an industry was borne amid the bustling thoroughfare of Hunter Island. Today, this precinct is home to MACq 01 where the stories of these colourful characters are shared in a setting of informal luxury. This is a storytelling hotel.

Cons: Meals a little pricey
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stylish design of the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing
Cons: Extremely happy with every aspect of our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They were absolutely amazing and I couldn’t fault a single thing. We stayed for our babymoon and they upgraded us as well as leaving us a wonderful little gift which made our stay so extra special. To show the extra lengths that they go to, they even allowed us a complimentary late check out well into the afternoon so that we could stay isolated during the current outbreak before we went to the airport. The property is one of the best I have stayed at and the room has all the finishing touches that go beyond other big hotel chains that claim to be on the same level. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Hobart now. A big thank you for everything.

6.0 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Bathroom cleaning could be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Greeted by friendly staff. Room exceptionally clean, bed super comfy. Close to everything Hobart has to offer.
4.0 Okay
Cons: The size of The room was pathetic. The bathroom you could not swing a cat in, bigger rooms on cruise ships. For a one person stay it would be ok, value for money it was not. We stayed at a share house just the week before and only was 10 dollars difference with kitchen and a beautiful view. We wished we had stayed back there. Very outdated and needs some appeal. Also parking appalling for 4x4 or higher vehicles not to mention the extra 12 dollars they slug you with just to park your car in a bus zone.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, room and comfortable bed
Cons: Paying for carpark, small ensuite and a tad noisy even in a 'quiet' room
7.0 Good
Pros: Having a sink to wash up in was a very good idea.
Cons: Very small bathroom and not much room to move in the shower. Cramped accommodation.
6.8 Good
Pros: Loved Angie. She was so helpful. We were originally placed in a room near the elevator (which was under construction). She helped us move (and because we were in a hurry and needed to leave the property quickly, she even moved our belongings and luggage for us). we came back to a new room with all our things nicely laid out and very nice gift with a note to apologize for the original inconvenience. Very kind and professional.
Cons: We called the desk at 2:30 am more than 5 times and no answer. Night staff could use some help staying more alert.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location and easy to get to most places in Hobart. Comfortable bed, fridge in room, flat screen tv. 100mb of free internet Breakfast (additional charge) on first floor was a convenient hot buffet with many options.
Cons: No safe in room. Elevators/lifts are under renovation (as of Feb 2016). Only one was operational which meant it took a long time. Stairs were a much better option. 100mb of free internet goes pretty quickly

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, friendly staff, working in difficult conditions because of the corona virus
Cons: Unfortunately no restaurant or room service due to corona virus.not the staffs fault. It was one of those things that was occurring throughout the world
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location was ok. The bathroom fixtures were new and higher quality than expected.
Cons: Clean sheets and towels were the most they did to clean. The carpet was old and worn out and rarely vacuumed. It was very dusty in the room and the lamp touch controls were grimy. I only stayed more than one night because I paid the nonrefundable rate.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The reception staff were very good and most helpful, and the manager was very receptive to our concerns with staff and the quality of passageway carpets and furniture inside the main doors.
Cons: The carpets in the passageways outside the lift and the casual furniture inside the main doors was dirty and needed replacing. We had a serious problem with staff and food quality in the evening dining service.
7.0 Good
Pros: We had requested for 2 single beds in our booking and when that was not available , we were upgraded to a family room
Cons: There were not many choices for the full hot breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Location was reasonable but not great
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable stay. Good location and walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Pros: Good location Room service menu good Apartment well laid out Car parking
Cons: When turning main light out at night switch was by the main door of apartment not the door into the bedroom. Minor issue.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Staff was polite.
Cons: We found the studio apartment room to be drab, underwhelming and uninspiring. Definitely not worth the cost. Rooms and fixtures are dated. It was not a pleasant room to spend time in. Bed was fairly hard, linens were nothing special. Shower was broom closet size and difficult to turn around in.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The style, atmosphere and location of the hotel are excellent. The staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. An absolute joy to find this type of hotel and service still exist. The value for money cannot be beaten.
Cons: The view from the view is a little bland. Given the city centre location this isn’t terribly surprising or unexpected.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, short walk from Salamanca market and Constitution dock. Historic place with beautiful decor, great touch from the hotel providing history of the building with The Hadley newspaper. Nice breakfast and dinner as well.
Cons: No parking as it’s in the cbd, we utilise the free street parking from 6pm to 8.30am.
7.0 Good
Pros: Whilst the room was a bit quirky it met our needs fine. Central location helps.
Cons: The coffee, I think they forgot to put any in!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In the Virus lockdown in March 2020 we stayed at Hadleys. Not only was the hotel charming but the staff were exceptional in providing us with all the care we could need. We ate from room service and the meals were delicious, fresh and hot. I don't have the words to say how wonderful the staff was throughout our visit. Really caring people under incredible stress. Location was in the centre of downtown and easy walk to waterfront. Off site parking was easy and close. A gem of hotel!
Cons: Nothing could have been better in the circumstances.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely and the decor was nice - good central location too.
Cons: Unfortunately the room was very uncomfortable. The bed was so uncomfortable and the room was so noisy. we could hear so many people speaking outside and our room was right above the outside bins so could hear bottles etc being thrown into the tin bin very regularly and loudly. the room was small so we had to open the window to let some air in, but unfortunately having the window open meant we could smell the beer etc in the bin outside.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and room. Excellent location. Close to everything, food, coffee and shops.
Cons: Room was a little dark and view was not great (back laneway) but we needed a room for 3 O perhaps options were limited
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed as the covid-19 crisis was unfolding. Staff were kind and helpful.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location and comfort of the apartment including the size and self catering facilities.
Cons: There was only one mirror in the whole apartment and also the lack of sheer curtains on the windows which would have been helpful with privacy. Our apartment faced houses across the road which were on the same level.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were very helpful.
Cons: I arrived at around 8:45 pm, and I was told that the kitchen was closed.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Location - it was in the heart of the city and walking distance to the harbour-front, Salamanca Place which made it very convenient.
Cons: View from the windows - from the 4th floor we could not see outside because windows were either facing skywards, or they were at waist level and we had to crouch to look outside. Even then, the view was blocked because building features where right in front of window. Also TV's were old tube style - in this day and age we expected to have at least a 42" flat screen....
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff went above and beyond to make my stay great. so friendly and helpful in every area.
Cons: carparking was short, but they did give me alternatives which was great
6.0 Good

Cons:
7.2 Good
Pros: I loved the traditional decor and the old world charm
Cons:
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and the hotel was interesting. The room was very comfortable.
Cons:
4.4 Okay
Pros: We enjoyed the location of the hotel because it was very easy to get around.
Cons: I felt the word "superior room" was very over rated, I felt like it was no more than a standard room. The mat in the shower/bath was discusting I would expect to see that standard in a hotel in the back of Australia. The cups were not washed and someone had used the sample bottle of moisturizer and put it back. The tables in the foyer had definetly not been wiped down for quite a long time as there were glass marks and dirt all over it which was very obvious when the light was on it.
7.6 Good
Pros: Convenient to central Hobart and sights
Cons:

Pros: I did not have breakfast there but in the past I have and I remember it was very nice. The location is superb. The room was well appointed. It was a loft studio though and the bedroom was upstairs separated from the bathroom which was kind of inconvenient. Otherwise it was very good. The staff there is lovely and helpful and gracious. The attached bar at the hotel is wonderful and I had a very good cocktail there.
Cons: I would have preferred no stairs in my room.

Cons: The kitchen was so small. But that’s why easier to communicate and make a friend.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location is convenient- a short walk to the city and an easy walk to Salamanca.
Cons: The toilets and showers are mixed male and female and they are fairly sketchy at best. There is no kitchen or TV room or general meeting area exclusively for people staying in the hostel. The dorms are mainly mixed - there is a fenale dorm but no male only dorm. The hot water is difficult to regulate in showers - I was cold in summer, I can only imagine gow cold it is in winter.

Everything is walking distance. Secure Car Park right next door (with hotel validated overnight rate) is a great bonus! About a 20 step walk from car park elevator to front door of hotel.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: It could of been better my bathroom wasn't clean and I didn't have a doona cover on it
7.0 Good
Pros: Good position for most things in Hibart
Cons: The decor.. very boring and drab. When you consider all the beautiful paint colours and fabrics that are available to use, I cannot understand why beige and brown would be chosen. It is more like a funeral parlour!

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Room was nice and clean. Position easily accessible to the airport and where we had to return our hire car.
Cons: The soundproofing didn't work very well as the air planes were still quite noisy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We went to a wedding in Melbourne then carried on to see Beautiful Tasmania
Cons: Food I love salads
5.0 Okay
Cons: Noisy rooms, noisy aircon, understaffed and poor value for money - in comparison rest of our 2 weeks accom around TAS this hotel should have been around $180 incl bfst
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very simple and nicely appointed room. Loved the full length window that slides open creating a French balcony. About a 2 minute drive to the airport was really handy. They also provide a frequent airport shuttle. Our biggest surprise was dinner at the hotel restaurant. Great service and excellent food. I had the roast beef and my wife had the beef stroganoff which were very tasty, good portion size and well presented and not very expensive.
Cons: No stocked minibar - although items available for sale at reception. Do provide tea and coffee facilities.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were great as was the room and bed.
Cons: Nothing really, all good.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Beds were not clean. Stinky rooms and bathrooms. My stay was for 2 nights however the room was so stinky I just spent 1 day there.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The bed had really bad springs, Bathrooms were dirty and if you complain to the staff they just pretty much ignore you and dont do anything, I left after one night and went to another hostel after this they charged me 300$ extra!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff member who met us at 8:45pm was really lovely and extremely helpful
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable and bed linen clean as were the toilets/showers.
Cons: The Imperial consists in a warren of rooms along dark corridors without clear indications of room whereabouts. One of the communal lounges had some type of construction work going on in semi-darkness with no warning or health and safety notices. There is a serious lack of toilets and showers -2 toilets and 2 showers for a whole floor (20rooms..) Although the bed was ok, the room was VERY grubby and not recently cleaned, same for the dark corridors. We couldn't open the window to freshen the musty smell. The receptionists were ok, but not very helpful or welcoming. The Imperial is on the 1st floor and the ground floor access was dirty.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and conveniently located. Spacious single room. Thick stone walls kept the room cool and isolated most noises.
Cons: Fridges were very full. Kitchen is locked overnight making it hard to have breakfast if you need to leave early in the morning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The twin room was a good size, beds comfortable and it gave into the church so all we could hear was bird song. Way exceeded expectations
Cons: The person who snored in the dormitory!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved where the 8 bed female room was for it was in the corner right outside the bathroom and the room was very quiet.
Cons: When checking in the receptionist needs to "verbalize" to everyone to clean their own dishes and cookery. I found it "selfish" when some of the guests left it up to the staff to clean their dishes.
