Overview

The Washington Square Hotel is a New York City classic in the heart of Greenwich Village just across from its namesake park, Washington Square Park. This is easily one of the most famous and historic areas of the city and it places travelers within easy reach of other trendy neighborhoods like Chinatown, SOHO, the Meatpacking District and even the Wall Street area where the Freedom Tower is located. Visitors to the hotel are also steps from the different subway stations that can take them to all corners of the Big Apple in less than 30 minutes’ time. Close to other landmarks that include the NYU campuses, Parsons School of Design and the shopping area that is Bleeker Street, it is ideal for any visitor to the city.

While that location alone is a good reason to choose it, the hotel is also replete with premium amenities that include spa services from Serenity Suite, a top of the line fitness center, continental breakfast each morning, eateries such as the famous North Square Restaurant along with the lower key North Square Lounge, and the stylish lobby bar. There are also meeting or banqueting facilities, free Wi-Fi, parking (for a fee), and luggage storage. Visitors are also able to visit the famous rooftop garden where many of the ingredients for the North Square Restaurant are produced.

Naturally, the rooms and suites in the hotel are a good match for the rest of the facilities and no matter which type of room is chosen, visitors will enjoy premium linens, famous C.O. Bigelow toiletries, authentic Art Deco furnishings and décor, high-end entertainment systems with cable TV, hot beverage systems, and luxurious private baths.

Any trip to New York City can be enhanced by a stay at the historic and ideally-located Washington Square Hotel.

Clean, comfortable bed, nice shower and towels. Building is old and hallways are quite narrow. My room was small but it was an economy room anyhow.

I LOVE the Washington Square Hotel, and it’s my default choice whenever I’m in NYC - the location is perfect and on every stay until now everything has been great. But they now not only no longer include a light breakfast in North Square, but it’s not even open during the week. When it is open at the weekend, they don’t include breakfast. The gym was closed and rooms aren’t serviced unless you’re ...

Pros (+) The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, willing to assist with anything. They gave us a late check on our last day which was especially kind of them. The rooms are very large and the shower is one of the best I've experienced. We did not visit the on-site restaurant so we have no comment on that.
Cons (-) It's long past time that the window air conditioners are removed. And new windows may be required. Whether it's the old windows, or the lack of a seal around the air conditioners, you hear a lot of street noise. It actually seems like your windows are open when they are closed, because the noise is so clear. It would not stop us staying there again; it's just a comment.

Pros (+) Location is perfect for a visit with my daughter, who attends NYU. Close to the subway, too. Room was comfortable and bathroom was much bigger than expected. Breakfast was good, too. Staff was very nice and helpful.
