Staff were very friendly and welcoming and they also had English speaking staff to explain everything to us at arrival. It was our first time at an onsen, we enjoyed the experience and the facilities provided. Onsen was lovely and hot and we were the only ones in while we were there due to off season. Had the kaiseki dinner as well which was delicious and well explained in English. Location was spot on, 5 min walk from the bus stop (Stop 7- Shinkyo) where you can get a bus to train station and Chuzenji falls. It is within walking distance to the temples and shrines, so top marks for that!
A little bit pricey but couldn’t fault anything else.

Fantastic meals! We simply love the yuba and tofu making experience over kaiseki dinner and the breakfast was superb. Thank you! Your front desk staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Thank you Raki for the excellent English language service support. The shuttle service was great - we appreciate it very much. Will definitely choose to stay here again.
Everything was good.

Central location to all the sights. Delicious kaiseki dinner. Friendly staff - they have some English-speaking staff, which made our stay easier. The garden was also well-maintained.
The property is a little on the older side for the price, but I figure we were paying for the location.

Nikko Hoshino Yado is quiet but perfectly located to visit the World Heritage shrines and forest and the beautiful town of Nikko. The ryokan accommodation was very comfortable and the Japanese garden is an extra treat. The staff and service were exception and the kaizeki dinners and japanese breakfasts were exceptional. Highly recommended.

This was our first stay in a Japanese Ryokan. We organized the pickup from the train station before or arrival via email with the hotel and they were super responsive and reliable. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were welcomed in perfect English. Everything was explained to us in no rush, so we had plenty of time to understand how to wear the Yukata and how to use the Onsen. The fantastic service lasted all the way through our stay! Our room had a beautiful view. Overall, I would say the pictures don't do the place justice, it was a lot prettier than expected. Everything was clean, from the room to the Onsen and restaurant. We enjoyed a superb Kaiseki menu for diner and a delicious breakfast. Our recommendation is that you read a little about Kaiseki and local Nikko food beforehand as the menu was only available in Japanese. We had lots of fun with Google translate, though :D ... The futon beds were cozy and comfortable. Can absolutely recommend and would love to stay again!
