Location. Hard to find on a narrow street, but right in the heart of the old town. Adaquate room, nicely appointed. Interior open-air courtyard was beautiful with old stone archways, had a castle-like feel. Not really. Parking was 100 metres away in a shopping centre parkade, but at 8 Euros/day it was cheap. And what do you expect in a two hundred year old downtown hotel?
Situation of the Hotel. We like the fact that the hotel is an 18 something years old building. The public spaces gave us a real feel of the age of the bulding and area where it's located. Overall, it was a good exeprience. No place to unload our luggages on the street. We had to park our car in a nearby shopping center and walk with our luggages on the street. The room itself was clean, the bed was good but it's a bit outdated and might require some refreshing.
Quiet room very hard floor--thin carpet right on concrete--my feet hurt when I first got up in the morning to walk on it
Staff were great
Very clean, quiet and air conditioned - just what we needed None
the location was excelent. The weather was bad and we could not go out for dinner, restaurant was a good surprise.
Great room, good staff and excellent value. The location was ideal!
Location of the hotel is very good, quite confortable, easy parking A little bit too expensive.
Excellent location, really friendly and helpful staff, free wifi!
Breakfast is poor and expensive. It seems that scrambled eggs contains everything but eggs. At diner, sirloin could have been tasty, but was cold.Fortunately, there are some honest restaurants around.
Very comfortable clean room. The hot breakfast food is poor.
Very good location. Confortable room (big bedroom and bathroom). Very good price. The bed wasn't very confortable.
The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful even offered to help us with our luggage from and to the car. The secure car parking. Wasn´t too keen on the location but it was ok for an overnight stay.
The room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable, so we were able to have a good night's sleep. The airport shuttle stopped close to the hotel. It was a bit far from the train and bus stations.
It is well positioned to see Nimes, good garage, nice staff. Breakfast was good. Renovation in progress should improve it even more. Plenty of nearby Restaurants and Bars. Price is about right. (Budget level) No Bar. Restaurant not open. Further renovation works in progress and needed. Heating in room.
The room was bright and comfortable. The cleaner was pleasant and cooperative. The staff were helpful around the car in the garage. The breakfast was good. When we could not get to our car as planned the charge was deducted. Too many steps in the dining room, especially as we had to carry our hot drinks from the machine several times each breakfast, as the cups were so small. The garage was charged for, yet there was a lot of manoeuvring needed and one morning we couldn't get the car out as planned.
A very welcoming staff providing useful informationabout the city. Our room was very good and the hotel is in an excellent location. Breakfast was good - early morning street cleaning is noisy but bearable. we shall cerainly use it again. Towels were small rather rough.
It is decorated very tastefully and is right in the centre of old Nimes. The proporietors are very conscientious and friendly. The noise in the alleys all around at night - carousing people - cleaning vehicles etc. The heat (unavoidable!).
The staff were absolutely excellent. Really helpful. The view from our room was superb. The location is fantastic. There wasn't a door or curtain on the shower. Also it helps here if you speak a bit of French.
Very friendly people, great location, not too expensive. nothing, fortunately.
Central location Bed very uncomfortable, Pillows very flat, refused extra pillows as the rule is 2 per room.
The place No
Staff were very attentive and happy to see you, they spoke some English, which was very helpful. It's position is excellent, a stones throw from the impressive Amphitheartre and right in the heart of the old town, with easy access to restaurants, DCafe's and bars. It could get a little noisy due to it's proximity to the square and the town centre, however the plusses of this outnumbered the minuses. The breakfast is very minimilistic and I would use Cafe's nearby for this as you can get more for your 7 euro's! There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Friendly staff, great location, quaint and comfortable rooms.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Just a few metres away from the Roman amphitheatre in Nimes and in the old town with all the restaurants.
The staff were very helpful and we loved the location and the garden
The experience made you feel that you were in a luxury home as a guest, not the normal 'hotel' experience, much nicer. The bathroom takes a bit of getting used to as it didn't have a door.
The building is a lovely old post house with 2 gardens, which are lovely for relaxing in. but we were very unhappy with almost everything about this very expensive and pretentious hotel. Our room was not up to the standard of most 3 star hotels. none of the following: luggage rack, robe hooks, lavatory roll holder, loo brush, soap dish in shower, towel rails, international electrical points, no mini bar, no dressing table, clothes-hanging rail of jacket length - not for dresses, bedside lights only (25 watt) too little to read by, and if switched off at bedside impossible to turn on light when entering room at door. Chicken wire in door-frame between lavatory and bedroom so no visual privacy, and smells penetrated room. 2x25 watt wall lights in bathroom not sufficient for shaving or make-up. Mirror to side of wash basin - bad for wet shaving. Second pillows supplied reluctantly. We shall be writing to the hotel chain
Excellent service, friendly and welcoming Inadequate lighting in both rooms and i common areas, however there was great ambience and we thoroughtloy enjoyed our stay
Charming hotel. Very pretty garden. Little far from town center. Noisy because of nearby railroad.
Location very good close to centre.Beautiful garden with pool - nice retreat from city in midday heat. Very interesting hotel. Great attention to detail. Very personal service. Beautiful hotel, charming accommodation but more like exclusive City guesthouse. Room small for a double room. No minibar.Facilities as an hotel quite limited. Difficult to find.
I loved the bespoke service that was offered - the fact that the owners talk to the guests is amazing. Loved the ambience and the decor. Would definitely go again.
Utterly exquisite. A hidden oasis with a passion for detail and cleanliness. Superb facilities. Extremely friendly, courtious and considerate staff led by the extraordinary example of making you feel at home by the proprietors Its not cheap, but it has great value. A must stay at hotel. We will remember our stay for a very, very long time. Superb!!! Formidable!!!! So acessable being 3 minutes from the tvg station. Nothing whatsoever!!!! We take exception to recent reviews saying that the staff were rude. Such a senario is just impossible!!!!!
helpfulness and friendliness of staff - ability to communicate well in French and English
Sad, tired old bed and a tiny bathroom
Friendly staff, clean hotel. The location is in a run-down area of the city, some 15 minutes walk from anything.
Good clean hotel reasonable price. Staff helpful & pleasant
the ´patio´ the floor and some of the furniture should be replaced because is not in good condicion - too old
The staff was great and the patio quite enjoyable after a day of visiting:) the hotel is a bit on the outskirts of old nimes but only a 5 minute walk away.
Price for the area. Walking distance to main sites. No air conditioning, the bathroom shower and shower curtain was full of mold, and could hear the people in the next room.
Great little hotel, good secure parking, clean and very friendly staff..
The staff is very friendly. The courtyard (Patio) is very nice & cosy. Relatively close to city centre. Private Garage. Would not recommend hotel for partents with small children: the double room was very small facing the very crowed street. Sleeping with open window was impossible as it was way too loud, sleeping with closed window as well as it was too hot and stuffy. Our baby could not sleep at all thus screaming all the time. Going a round outside with the pram at night is not advisable as the hotel is in a quite rough area. Another problem: the hotel lies in the first floor which can only be reached via long steps. Cleanliness & hotel standard were rather 1-star than 2-star (E.G. water from the toilet was flowing on the bathroom floor).
We loved the common patio that everyone would congregate in. About 10 of us in a sailing club spent the night there right before the Bullfight festival. We could walk from the train station or a short taxi ride. Easy walk to history, shopping, and fun restaurants. The staff scores high in trying to please everyone and helping us have a memorable stay. Our room was small but colorful and comfortable. Could easily unpack and repack by the way our room was furnished...#10. This place was an unexpected treat and would recommend it and stay there again. a restaurant recommended to us was delicious, artistic, and had Rose Ice Cream an heavenly taste treat. Service 5 star as in my mind was the hotel. Restaurant's name Claire's Table. There are no complaints. I cannot remember the reviews on the hotel on the website.
beds very comfortable, quiet hotel - good night's sleep, good showers dark in the room breakfast expensive for what it was
Very Helpful Staff. Good location for exploring Nimes Centre
Reasonable price, excellent central location, quiet air conditioner. We even had a large balcony to sit on. Carpet needed replacing. Elevator only goes to third floor, we were on the fourth.
clean good value for money good breakfast central-near rail & bus transport.Problemn of getting to the airport caused by a lightning strike by local taxis two & a half hours before the flight departure was most kindly solved by the owner himself running us in his car to the airport--you cannot beat that for service
In centre, near arenes and train station rooms a bit small, but ok for 1 night
very friendly and helpful staff
Above all its close proximity to the charming old city. Draught beer at O'Flaherty's nearby. Breakfast and other French quality meals in sunlight squares. We booked for two nights and stayed six. The parking was most useful but I think that, for an executive car, access might be uncomfortably tight.
It was in the Centre of Nimes and we could walk to good restaurants, bars and all site seeing places.
everything was very good. the breakfast was excellent I would have like decaffinated coffee
The hotel was in the centre of town which maent that once the car was parked, we could walk the areas we wanted to visit. There were plenty of local restaurants available
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is also very conveniently located and rooms are quiet despite proximity to the railway station. no shower curtain and only two towels for a couple with child. Breakfast was also a bit meagre in choice and quantity, though one morning significantly better than another.
The friendliness of the staff
Basic fairly priced hotel close to station and centre of town, might be considered noisy by some people. no
Nothing special to recall other than proximity to station Poor space in bathroom
I'm very sorry but there was nothing I liked about this hotel... As I said before it was a huge disappointment: staff doesn't speak english, receptionist had no communication manners, noise from the train station was incredible and even radiator in the room was hot while autside was +25 degrees! It was absolutely awful. I have no idea why this hotel has 2 stars and is classified as a hotel. I'm very sorry but I'll never come back there and will never recmmend this to anyone else. It was very poor service for the money. I'm very sorry for myself.
Both beds were extremely comfortable with good clean duvets. Good hot water at all times. Very central so everything was within walking distance. Room (twin) very small with not much room to move. Although it was hot at night, we had to keep the windows closed because of the train noise. Very few parking spaces for customers.
It is very close to the airport bus stop and the railway station. Showers were not very good.
close to La Gare. The streets in Nimes are very uneven! I stumbled several times.
Proximity to station Scarcity of parking space
Helpful staff who spoke English. Ideal location being by station and bus stop for airport bus. It was ideal for our requirements. The room was hot and due to its city location opening the windows made it rather noisy
Ideal central location. Hotel room with a lot of style. Rather poor acoustic isolation. Vinci public parking pretty expensive.
We have stayed at the Royal twice now. The rooms are fairly basic but very spacious and the hotel has a great Spanish influence. Best of all is its location and the resturant serving taps which has a good atmosphere. Noisy at the front of the hotel and needs better duvets and pillows-perhaps a little more creature comforts?
Nice spacious room and lovely breakfast area and breakfast was very good. Receptionist in the morning was extremely helpful. Arrived 10pm and although the person who checked us in was nice I do not think he was familiar with the role of receptionist. Everything was closed!
Location, location, location! 20 seconds from Roman theatre, 5 minutes from amphitheatre (which was quite amazing) and close to shops and restaurants. Hotel staff all very good. Bedding and towels all very clean Our room was very basic (no wardrobe nor chest of drawers just open rail and open shelves). Small bath and no separate shower. Very noisy each morning
buono il letto e la caffetteria manca l'ascensore
Nice decoration, comfortable room, heart of the city. No elevator, no international tv, old room door.
Liked the location, adjacent to the main sights. Also liked the ambience of the hotel: stone floors, high ceilings, tall French doors opening onto street views. My room looked onto the street on the first floor (European first) and was noisy early in the morning.
right in town centre great price performance Chef even opened up 1/2 hour early as we had an early evening appointment
Its location is excellent. Facilities are bad. Internet regularly stops working.
I would have to say the style of the hotel and the room were outstanding; we felt like royalty. Staff were brilliantly professional and language was no issue. The location in the centre of town was superb and close to all the Roman monuments, coloesium etc. an underground Parking station was very close and extremely unobtrusive which was great due to traffic being insane. The noise from the bar downstairs was heavy (we were in an extremely lavish upgraded suite above it) however in a spirit of holiday loving, if you can't beat it, join it, so we had a couple of drinks downstairs as well.
location, clean, a/c not for the price
Location of hotel was good but that's about it. The hotel is over 30 years old and never refurbished. The toilet seats were once turquoise and repainted gold. The bathroom tile floor was dirty. Red velvet wallpaper and dark rooms. Hotel is overrated.
Staff very helpful
The owner and his family were lovely. They spoke english very well and even their tiny daughter said goodbye in english! It was a good location, comfortable and very quiet at night
Clean, friendly excellent service.
The staff was helpful and the public areas of the hotel appeared clean and well lighted. The narrow street on which the hotel is situated makes loading / unloading difficult, especially as it has a fair amount of traffic for a one-way side street. The indoor parking down the block was convenient but the garage is very small and maneuvering a large car can be challenging. The immediate vicinity was a bit run down and certainly not a cheerful walking street, especially at night.
The hotel owner manager was so friendly and accommodating and kind. He and his family gave us warm welcome and we would recommend staying with them without hesitation. The hotel is a short walk from the Arena, shopping central plaza etc. We walked everywhere, even back to train station with ease.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The suite was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was beautiful and very clean. The location is excellent. The matress of the bed was a bit too soft.
Upgraded to suite
Very friendly and helpful staff; very convenient location for us near the raliway station yet in a secluded street; excellent access to central Nimes
Pleasant staff, comfortable, good street parking around, quiet but near centre. Wifi signal was low but staff fixed it and offered use of computer in hallway as well.
The male hotel clerk was very helpful and the hotel was in a great location, very convenient for easily walking to the central city sights of Nimes. It also had parking almost directly across the street, which was a really great help. The room was fine - very plain, but clean and it had air conditioning, which was a real "plus" since Nimes was very warm. My biggest suggestion is that the hotel owners should add a shower curtain rod and shower curtain to the bathtub/shower, which would be easy and inexpensive. It's virtually impossible to take a shower without getting water everywhere.
Mervellous ! Excellent desigh, very clean, modern, very nice rooms with beautiful drawings on the walls, very quiet, very very nice hotel stuff! No.
courteous, friendly staff. good value for money light from sign shone in window at night. not a big deal though
The hotel location was perfect for us, the hotel staff were friendly to us and to our toddler, and spoke English very well. Some of the fittings were broken and the main door was fiddly to lock
The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean, the location was superb for the train and bus station (2 mins walk) but not that far to walk to Nimes arena either. I also think it provided parking which was excellent if you were on a tour of the Laungedoc/Provence area. There was one incident with the room I was staying in (won't go into details) where I had to inform the staff but the matter was dealt with efficiently by them and I had no further complaints.
close to downtown; quiet; parking available. large bathroom but no shower curtain for shower
Cosy, nice, very intimate, excellent staff Suggestionable.
The color in hotel is pretty bright. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for tourists who can walk nearby in the city; None.
The Hotel is very conveniantly located when travelling to or from Nimes railway station, and is close to the town centre and tourist sites. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The bedroom and facilities were satisfactory for short stays. The noise of televisions from other rooms was quite loud.
Cleanliness of room and crisp cotton sheets. Only stayed one short night.
Helpful friendly service
The hotel staff were particularly helpful and took every possioble step to ensure that my stay was as pleasant as possible.
excellent service.good location.
Very friendly and helpful staff coffee at breakfast was served from a flask.it was not very good
good location for station and arena.
Hotel Management was very helpful, and the hotel was very convenient to the train station and the city of Nimes
Proximity to station was important to us. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Good value for money. The shower didn't drain properly.
The person who was on reception was extremely helpful, curteous and efficient . The bedroom although not luxurious was extremely clean and the bedding and beds very comfortable - the hotel was nicely heated - can be recommended. We liked the rustic french furniture in the reception and dining area. no all was fine
