The hotel had a great location. Very easy access to the train station and boats. It would have been nice to have a telephone in the room.
Nice people great location view from my window outstanding Very dated no wifi, english tv
Stayed at the hotel for the Magic Circle Festival 2009. Perfect for all my needs. 90 minutes from Frankfurt airport, hotel at the bottom of the hill on exiting St. Goar station. Land-train to castle, 2 banks with lobby ATMs, tourist shopping area, many varied eateries, the Rhine and its multitude of charter boats and the St. Goar to St. Goarshausen ferry all within 500m of the hotel. A Schlecker store is within the tourist shopping area and a rewe supermarket is across the Rhine close to the St. Goarshausen rail station. An hourly bus service to the Loreley runs 7-10 times a day unless you want to walk it. I hauled my 130kg up in 70 minutes and down again in around 40 minutes. It is really steep in places. Go enjoy the place. One little niggle. Owner would only take cash to settle the bill and if both ATMs in town are down things could get problematic. Managed to pay anyway but it was an unnecessary glitch as I tried to vacate my room on time and rush around getting cash.
Great, friendly service, lovely view of the Rhine river from room and in resteraunt. Although they advertise that they accept credit cards, was told at check out that they do not in winter, this should be mentioned for on line reservations as had I known this I would have booked a different hotel.
Excellent location in the centre of St Goar overlooking the Rhine. Getting used to the wonky walls and floors prepared us for the ferry crossing from Amsterdam to Newcastle the next day! ... all part of the charm of a traditional old hotel. The room was small and very basic but was clean and had been recently refurbished.
Gorgeous food and wine. Friendly and welcoming. Lovely location.
Lovely oldworld charm, friendly service
Excellent location right on the Rhine, river view room. We arrived late on a week night and all restaurants were already closed, but the little German grandma ladies cooked a delicious meal for us anyway. So comforting after a long drive. Very sweet and kind ladies. I would stay here again. The hotel is in a great location but is an older building. The room floor slopes downward and it's a bit creaky. This is not really a problem, but some people might be snobbish about that type of thing so I mention it.
Excellent staffs, in fact I reached at night 1 o clock and still the staff was so helpful that he allowed me to check in. I really appreciate this. Rooms' cleanliness is maintained at top. Locatin is very good , it is just outside the rail station St. Goar. All staffs are very helpful and provided required service in timely manner. Highly recommended !!!!! Especially nothing. Please keep up the tempo.
The Breakfast was excellent The room was far too hot - should have had air conditioning. No information in English, we did ask but none was produced. The hotel was very overpriced
We appreciated every part of our stay, beginning with our arrival. Although we arrived well before the regular check-in time, the staff found us a room that we could have immediately. We were first afraid that this new room in the villa would be less desirable than the room we reserved, but we were pleasantly surprised. The view of the Rhine from our balcony was superb. The view from the dining room with its wide windows was also great. We reserved a table for dinner and were surprised when the hostess led us away from the window area. However, we were given a table in a lovely private alcove which also had a view. Generally we found our experience to be better than we expected from the guest reviews we read.
Excellent Location. Clean comfortable rooms. Friendly staff
The guest room was clean. The guest room was far from reception. There was no porter. There was no explanation about the location of guest room from reception staff when I check-in. That's why I misunderstood that the guest room location is near by reception. After I checked-in, I carried 3 heavy buggage to the in front of reception which locate at the 1st floor. At that time they explained to me about the location of guest room. So that I had to carry our buggage to downstair again. I reserved the restaurant at 8:30, but the restaurant couldn't prepare the table for us on time. After they provided for us a very small table which located close to reception without any tablecloth! The table was too small to put all meals and noisy location. I was disappointed.
We enjoyed everything about our visit and will tell all of our friends Our timing was bad because the castle tour wasn't open yet!
Convient, historic Buildring going on outside room area, when at 9pm an tired the hotel staff explained they would be working onther hour! Disapointed in guest relations.
We liked the convenience of having the castle to explore, a restaurant with views, and our room in close proximity. The free parking was also an added bonus. The view from our room was beautiful! The king bed is actually two twins pushed together. Not to mention, the bed/s were not very comfortable unless you like a hard bed. You are definitely paying for the castle aspect because the rooms were average.
Excellent location with superb views, ok dining room with average service.
They offered a nice food.
Breathtaking location, nice wellness area, average service, average dining room Hot room, no aircon, tired dated bathroom, no hotel information in the room in any language, overpriced
Excellent service quality and marvellous food!
This hotel was very clean. Our room was a suite on the top floor it had a beautiful bed and fun star lights in the ceiling. The view from our room was good. The hotel staff was very helpful. There was a lot of good food in our included breakfast. We were also pleased that the staff could speak English. We would highly recommend this hotel to friends.
Very nice and clean hotel, polite and helpful staff, in a nice little village with great vineyards. Close to the Rhine, Koblenz, Mainz. Great experience! none
very peacefull, breakfast was very good, no rooms for smoking, tv in the room could have been bigger was like a postage stamp,
good service and friendlly staff at the time the weather was very hot and there was no air con or fans available
Friendly staff, and for once a hotel has figured out traveler's need more than one electrical outlet in their room. The rooms with balconies overlooking the Rhine are extrememely nice, and despite being at the center of town the hotel was quiet.
Great location overlooking the Rhine right near the KD ferry pier. Really large room, well furnished, good place to stay in St Goar.
The quiet location No id request from the staff, we booked in without showing any identity at all.
This hotel is located in a very good spot in the town. Right in front of the KD boat tour pier of the Rhein river. The cat castle is in a window view. The hotel manager is always asking if there is any problem in your stay.
Very big room with wonderful view on the Rhein Bit old furnitures in the room. Unpleasant smell in the stairwell, but fortunately not in the room.
Excellent location, spacious room with a pleasant view, very friendly and helpful proprietor. In-room mini-bar would be nice.
The owner couldn't be more helpful. He seemed to take a personal interest in every guest. The situation of the Hotel is perfect with beautiful views over the Rhine. A balcony room in the summer would be perfect. Ideally situated for hiking.
Stayed in Room 10 overlooking the Rhine, with small balcony. Very large room, but small bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. Hotel is directly opposite the KD line stop. Did not eat in the hotel apart from breakfast, which consisted of smoked salmon, boiled eggs, salami, cold meats, cheeses, rolls, juices and cereals. The owner was a very pleasant man. Very convenient for train also. No.
There was a wonderful view of the Rhine and a castle from the balcony. Nice variety offered at breakfast. Friendly, helpful management. The KD cruise line docks directly across the street and the train station is a few minute walk. Great location!
Diner was very good - including nice collection of local wines. Staff was very helpful in recommending hiking trips.
Very pleasant environment. Accomodating staff. Comfortable. Good value for the price.
Everything. Beautifull and quiet location, frendly staff, excellent food.
Staff helpful. Food excellent both evening and buffet breakfast. Very quiet location up a side valley, although near Rhine and its villages for visiting. Would easily stay again.
The location is not difficult to find. The room is cosy and clean. The double bed is comfortable and toilet is clean. One heater in the room and one in the toilet. The breakfast is very nice and of high standard. Good internet connection and parking facilities. It's an enjoyable stay and I highly recommend this hotel. The room is a bit small but I think it's okay for me.
Nice small hotel/restaurant in the vinyards near small village.
Comfortable bed, complete privacy, excellent breakfast. Splendid views of Rhine.
Beautiful facility and friendly staff. If the restaurant had more choices of food, that would be better.
We liked the authenticity of the Castle. The staff made us feel special. They were well educated on the food, wine, history of the area. Also very accommodating when it came to luggage needs. There was no language barrier, as all staff spoke english. I highly recommend this site as a "special" place to stay no
The view. The food. The service. All of the welcoming touches. None
What a wonderful hotel! Great view, romantantic room, perfect service. It's expensive, but definately worth it.
Room was great and booking.com got us a great price. Dinner was good as was breakfast. If you are looking for being in the middle of the action, this isn't the place. It is a walk to the city, but for us it was perfect.
Very friendly staff and always ready to assist. Porter service to get luggage from parking to the castle is great as the person brought the bags to our rooms (tower rooms). Staff checked us in at 12(noon) and very accomodating with an infant. Two people in our group were vegetarian and dinner main course option was not to their taste but the hotel tried to accomodate the special meal request.
excellent food and ambience no drawers in the rooms we had (2) to enable us to empty cases! Rather odd esp as one room was large
The Waitresses dressed in tradirtional German attire and their engaging presence, was a nice touch. The smell of fresh baked goods wafting up to our 3rd floor room when i opened the balcony door was delightfull. No elevator on our wing.
Our room (separate cottage) was fabulous. At first I was a little disappointed that we were not in one of the inside rooms of the castle but I quickly got over it realizing how wonderful our little cottage was. Great sitting room with our own library and a huge, luxurious, beautifully tiled bathtub, all very private with great views from most of the windows. Lovely! Some of the staff could have been a little more helpful (and friendly). Also, the restaurant closed up just a little too early, another 1/2 hour (to 9:30) would have been helpful.
In my opinion, this hotel was in the best location in town. Our view was of the oldest building in the town. Bacharach is a very nice little town.
Charming as to a genuine German hotel, clean, great value, excellent location in beautiful Bacharach. We would return again and again!
The location of the facility and the rooms really were very nice. Since we were there during the end of the tourist season, the resturant was not open at convenient times. It was closed for dinner both evenings of our stay.
Wonderful hotel in a beautiful Rhein village. Overlooking the market square but not noisy at night, as the village is small and very quiet, and the hotel is not near the train line. Ask for Room 2 which has a lovely balcony overlooking the market square. A much nicer overnight stop than the tourist traps of nearby Bingen or Rudesheim.
Size of room & bathroom, cleanliness, great location in town. Quality of breakfast.
All of the above listed items. Also, our room was a suite/apartment instead of the expected 1 room (double bed/cot). The staff was extremely helpful & pleasant and the town of Bacharach was enchanting!
location and hospitality of the young owners. These days, in-room internet wi-fi is expected. At Am Markt, it not only was not free of charge, the charge of 8 Euros per hour is exorbitant. For this reason I would not recommend this hotel to others unless they had no need for internet access.
the location is good. 10 mins walk from the train station. It's also near the pier and tourist center. We can easily arrive the tourist attractions. The bathroom is too small.
Centro location in town and the room was very comfortable
We found the Hotel to be utterly charming and enjoyable. It is conveniently located (although the town is so small the hotel could have been located just about anywhere.). Our room was a very cheerful yellow. Very comfortable and clean. There are a lot of stairs in this building. People with difficulty climbing or limited mobility would have a hard time here.
I like laying on the bed ank watching TV during my stay at hotel
Very friendly staff
Beautifully situated overlooking the Rhine. Close to ferry and landing places. Satisfying breakfast. Help with heavy case willingly given. Noise from the street (and a siren!) made it difficult to get to sleep - but that is no criticism of the hotel.
I liked everything. The scenery is amazing. The hotel is excellent and the owner is incredible nice and helpful. I completely recommend this hotel!
excellent service and extremely clean! Great tour advice very central nil.
Staff could not have been more helpful Bit far of main highway for a transit stop
Really nice place to stay, huge double rooms with comfy clean beds. Family run hotel, really good breakfast. A little bit out of town but a nice walk. Best for people happy to stay in a quiet place, wouldn't be good for room parties as sound travels through the walls
Rolf, the owner, receptionist & chef was great. He welcomed to his hotel and prepared a great dinner for us. It was a wonderful, short stay.Parking right outside, and Rolf included a super breakfast in the very reasonable price. everything was fine.
Really lovely. The family are so friendly and kind. We only stayed one night, and everything was lovely. Very very pleased we picked this Gasthaus to stay in in Bacharach. The gasthaus has wonderful character and the rooms are super clean.
Cost, Friendliness and helpfulness of owner
Room was large and well lit. It was within walking distance to the train but was far enough away that there was no train noise.
Good location in town and the included breakfast was excellent Staff initially stated that they couldn't take a credit card as the "machine wasn't working"; it miraculously fixed itself when we insisted on using the card.
Very clean, good breakfast Room was very small and view was of a roof and other hotel rooms across the roof. Although the online info said there was parking available, it was actually 4-5 blocks away in a public 3 Euro per day lot.
staff/ food service/ and drinks/ all suplied in such a friendly way. overall an excellent hotel
Nothing. Noisy,uncomfortable bathroom, expensive.
The location was quite good, being in the centre of this town's shopping and restaurant area. There were only two minor problems: The first was the absence of parking spaces in the immediate area of the hotel; and the second was that our particular rooms overlooked one of the the main streets, where traffic noises late at night and early in the morning definitely disturbed our sleep.
Friendly, helpful owners.
Very pleasant, clean, friendly old style German hotel in a nice quiet location in Bacharach. We would stay there again.
Yoghurt at breakfast was ok Room ans corridor lighting, Bathroom size and cleanness. Way to expensive. No covverange webside info and reality...
the price was right, good location (right in the center of Bacharach). Very friendly staff hotel could use an update/renovation of faciltities
Fantastic! Beautiful, clean and spacious room. Delicious food and very good wine. Warm and friendly staff. Everything you need to have a 100% satisfactory stay. This is a hotel to recommend and to go back to!
The breakfast and the staff The decor is a bit outdated..... But very clean
Comfortable rooms in a lovely family run hotel. Great dinner in the restaurant followed by wine tasting in the cellar after dinner. We have just spent a fortnight driving around Europe and our night at his hotel was one of the highlights.
people were extremely friendly
We loved absolutely everything about our stay at Gasthaus Weingut Stahl. The location is wonderful - away from all the train noises in the villages along the Rhine. Our rooms were fantastic, and were spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were modern and well equipped. Breakfast was simply amazing, and Krista, our hostess, kept forcing us to try her home-made cakes (for breakfast!!). We ate dinner out on the deck both nights and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Paul serves his brother's wines, and encouraged us to head down to the cellar for tastings. We could not fault this hotel, and would heartily recommend it. It would be best to have a car if you are staying there however. Nothing
We were given a warm welcome and shown to a lovely large room which was very clean. The hotel is a lovely mix of old and new. The Bedroom we had was fresh and modern, while the dining room was more in line with a old traditional Farm House. The evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was exceptional. Huge variety of friut cakes savories both hot and cold. We cannot fault this guest house. full marks
We highly recommend this hotel The surroundings were ideal, the staff was excellent as well as the food and our rooms. We loved the little bier garten outside! We were also given a personal tour of the incredible wine cellar and offered samples. I really can't say enough about this place and the people!
Our 2nd visit to this gasthaus. Every bit as nice as our first visit. Our dinner was exceptional at the restaurant and the owner and staff are always mindful of guests needs. Highly recommend.
Good food, room was clean and big, friendly staff. Nothing notable.
Fairly quiet room, very good breakfast and staff very friendly A funny odour in the room. Perhaps it was an ex-smoking room
We got what we expected: clean bedroom and bathroom, continental breakfast for a cheap price (60 €/night for 2 persons) We were not aware that the hotel did not accpet credit card, so we had to withdraw money to an ATM in town Bacharach, meaning withdrawal additional fee.
The hotel has a very good location, on top of the hill, in a quiet and lovely area. The owner is a nice person. The availability of a parking place is a plus. ... Well, the breakfast could be diversified. It was ok, but absolutely the same every day. Then, the matress and pillows leave a lot to be desired. We also expected more cleanliness.
We stayed in the apartment the views over vineyards and hills lovely plus freedom to come and go as wanted great. Very comfortable and warm even with heavy overnight frosts.
Very friendly hosts and good value for money. Located in an excellent location. Our requests were warmly received and undertaken with out any problem. The only things that we could fault were -no secure parking available and the pillows left a lot to be desired.
look around in the area lot of nice things to see it was more than splendid
Great room with private balcony overlooking nice yard. Nice host and good breakfast About 2 km from town - longish walk
The on-site restaurant and bar. good food and very relaxing
Staff, breakfast, location
quiet, peaceful, clean, neat the breakfast could be more typical German
family like environment everything was OK.
large rooms, peaceful was further away from the rhine than originally thought and up a very steep hill. Claimed to "hire" bikes, transpired only had 2 bikes and one of those had no gears. towels not included.
This hotel is ideally situated to visit some of the most wonderful scenery of the Rhein region. The room was clean and the facilities, although limited were adequate for our short stay. The food was excellent in the hotel's restaurant, with the evening meal a particular pleasure.
Food Staff service very poor, I had to go into the restaurant and ask for a drink which came 20 minutes later, no repeat table service. The three waitresses were inside the restaurant just talking to each other, I strongly felt they were talking about me negatively and laughing at me as I walked past them, this was in German which I do not understand. I am a middle aged man with grey hair and I am not very slim, they obviously found this humerous. I found this most offensive - it ruined my stay at the Hotel. I would strongly advise people not to stay here, otherwise you may experience the same offensive attitude from the staff.
Very friendely staff, good food, exceptional cleanliness and views of the Rhine river Train and car traffic too noissy, especiall disturbing at sleep time
The staff was very kind! Nothing was a problem.
Excellent food and great views of the Rhine
It was all fine
Friendly staff, absolutely excellent location (next to Rhein river with view to castle), excellently appointed room (facilities, space, view, lighting, etc.), free onsite parking, great breakfast. Nothing. Sorry we didn't stay longer.
Standard Double Room without view of Rhine River. We were given room 9 which had a side view of the Rhine. Good, modern bathroom. Enjoyed a good but reasonably expensive dinner in hotel restaurant. Room was very small and really a single room with a pull out under bed to make the double which was right up against the wall. Room window when open allowed foul smells to enter from toilet/bathroom ceiling outlet in roof below. Very noisy from traffic & trains all night. Don't expect any sleep. An expensive rip-off compared to other hotel experiences in Germany.
