Cons: Nothing , it was all good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Granvia Okayama is a train station hotel, which can be very convenient, as it was for us. We used it as a base for visiting Naoshima island. The staff tried to be helpful, although their English was not very good. The room was functional, but no more than that.
Cons: There was a real problem communicating with the staff. This is primarily a business hotel, and one would expect better language skills, as one finds at many Japanese hotels. The bathroom in our full size standard room was too small.

Cons: Bed was very hard.
7.0 Good
Pros: Unbeatable location stone’s throw from train station and several malls with diverse eating and shopping options

Cons: The twin beds room could not get the lights from outside, and the carpet is lightly smelly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Can’t beat the location. We made day trips to Hiroshima and Naoshima and being right at the train station was super helpful. The hotel is newly updated, very clean, spacious tub/shower. A little difficult to find from the train platform through the underground station corridors, but easy to see from the street. Just head towards Bic Camera and you’ll find it. Super convenient to food, 7-11, Lawson’s and all kinds of shopping. Would definitely stay here again. Complimentary coffee and facial masks on arrival.

We offer superb hospitality and are here to make your stay in Okayama a satisfying experience.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great position tight by the railway station
6.8 Good
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Too tint room
6.5 Good
Pros: I liked that it was attached to the train station.
Cons: The thing I'm actually really upset about is that I booked the hotel because of price and convenience. Then when I was already in my room they said they would charge and extra 2,000 yen for having another person in my room. This is a proper hotel, not some charge by the hour/person. That's why I'm giving it a not so positive review.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location was fantastic.
Cons: Very tired.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: buffet breakfast is very good. The location is very good.
Cons: no gym room & swimming pool
Via Inn Okayama - Okayama
6
8.4 Excellent (1,713 reviews)
Torii-Kuguru - Okayama - Building
7
8.4 Excellent (622 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Opened in July 2013, Torii-Kuguru offers free Wi-Fi, bicycle rentals and a launderette. This non-smoking property features a garden and a shared kitchen, a 10-minute walk from JR Okayama Station. Guests can relax in a shared lounge with a bar. The hotel has shared dormitory rooms with bunk beds and private rooms with Japanese futon bedding on a wooden floor. All rooms are air-conditioned and have heating facilities, while toilets and bathrooms are shared. Bunk beds come with curtains for privacy. From hotel Torii-Kuguru it’s only a 10-minute drive to Okayama Castle or Korakuen Park. No meals are served.
6.8 Good
Pros: The personnel and location
Cons: Room was next to shower so we could hear it you could shower till 0h and from 6h. The futon was not so thick so you could feel the ground very well and many squeeky noises of the house
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the staff the most. They were really nice and accommodating.
Cons: Unfortunately, the bed was uncomfortable. The futon was a little too thin.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The shared room is considered spacious. I was so lucky that only me accommodated that night, however, I guess even it is full, everyone still has some space to open luggage. Shower rooms, toilets, mattress and quilt are all clean. There is share kitchen also well equipped. It’s also very considerate that the hostel compulsory to turn of lights at midnight but doesn’t have curfew for travelers. This keeps well balance among every kind of travelers.
Cons: The location is a bit far from the Okayama station, roughly 10-15 mins walk. And do take note the from counter operation times because not anytime you can have luggage storage service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super nice and super clean hostel. The owners made sure everything was perfect down to the finest detail. I would definitely recommend staying there!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly place with a large rest room with a kitchen Charming place and lay out Location close to the JR station in a nice area with a lot of restaurants for locals Friendly staff
5.5 Okay
Pros: About a ten minute walk from train station, convenient location, open kitchen, easy laundry, Torii gate entrance
Cons: Bare bones, no rentals for basic towel, toothbrush, soap; room was just a futon and AC unit and low table, nothing else. Other places for same price in smaller towns had small mirror, cushioned seat, hangers, shelve unit, chair even, and decorations. And there were many unfinished areas in the place that could definitely do with a makeover like replacing mirror in front of sinks, plastered over tiles. It has a gritty look but looks in major need of some renovations. Walls really thin and everything squeaks so hair dyers blasting, creaking floor boards. Also could have maps and schedules of surrounding transport, maps of nearby places, just things that a traveler needs. They do have business cards and posters of current events though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere. The hostel had an traditional and laid back vibe which was very relaxing and peaceful. The stacked bunk beds we're cool and the common area was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is relatively close to Okayama station, just make sure you follow the directions provided by the hostel as they are more direct than the directions in Google maps (plus there is a location with a similar name 160 meters away).
Cons: There are not many showers or toilets so there may be a queue at busy times, the staff can advise when the busy times are. The wooden corridors amplify the sound a bit when people are walking through.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great and friendly service, comfortable living area, kept very clean. Good location near cafes, shops, etc. I loved the natural but modern interior decor and style.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Torii-Kuguru is a super clean, comfortable hostel. The common room and the kitchen is cute and chill as well. Staff are nice, as well as the staff of their lounge bar. Not really close to Okayama station but more quite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: very cozy
Cons: a little bit far from Okayama station.

Cons: Was a bit noisy from the bar below until midnight but after then we slept well.

Cons: It waa not very soundproof, could hear the people drinking downstairs
10.0 Excellent

8.8 Excellent
Cons: The lower bed is not that comfortable with barriers on both side
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice place and staff. Always helpful! Convenient place. Happy stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: we did not eat breakfast; the breakfast burger looked so sad/awful on the photo that we did not intend to eat it..... But the hostel was great, sooo friendly people there, perfect :)
Cons: as many reviewers told before, it was very noisy at night from outside the street. Even if you close the windows you can hear the people standing outside the bar talking. Even the earplugs did not help. But after midnight it was quiet...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location.
Cons: They don’t have bigger lockers.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location: opposite the train station and only 10 min walking to Kurashiki old town. Very friendly staff, everything clean. Nice Café to chill with good food.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so friendly, and the entire guest house was super clean! The lounge was very relaxing and had some free food to share with guests.
Cons: There wasn’t any wash basins on each floor so We had to go to 3 rd floor for brush our teeth . We stayed in a semi private room, and had to whisper to talk, we could hear the guest right next door coughing or breathing Which was little be stressful. It will be nicer if the room had a mirror And a wash basins for each floor for convenience.
7.0 Good
Pros: Stylish, close to station.
Cons: Noise from street below our second floor window was unacceptable. Partying till 5 am. Also laundry facilities unavailable till 10 am. Major disruption to day. Need better bedside lighting.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was nice using the onsen, and the hotel’s facilities and amenities were very well thought of. Definitely enjoyed the proximity to the station as well.
6.8 Good
Pros: The breakfast is good
Cons: The room is little bit small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This a great value for the money hotel. Rooms are very clean and spacious enough. Bathroom is a bit tight but still enough. Staff is very kind and helpul! This hotel is in a superb location in Kanazawa and basically next to the main train station and you can walk both to the station and the Aeon mall next to it using underground passages which makes it very convenient if the weather is not friendly.
Cons: Hotel is old but well maintained. However, we have stayed at other newer Mitsui Garden hotels in other cities and you could note the difference.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff are super friendly and fluent in English especially the one who help us check-in and check the bus schedule to Inujima, as I remember his surname should be 磯川. We really appreciate his sincere service with a smile. The room is comfy and clean. We love the public bath so much!
Cons: Although we put "do not disturb" door hanger, we expect the hotel will refill some amenities e.g. towel and bottled water as Mitusi Garden Hotel Hiroshima will do it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to the night life location. Great Onsen. Good Wi-Fi Almost good breakfast
Cons: Small room Only almost good breakfast Only one English speaking staff member.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location, clean, public bath nice, comfortable
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to the station. Beautiful onsen.
Cons: Business hôtel.
6.8 Good
Pros: There’s a big bath at top of the hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. Onsen was lovely.
Cons: Room was small. Parking would have been expensive if we had needed it.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good for a budget hotel (under $100/night) Fairly kid-proof Allowed bed-sharing with kids, so we had a twin room for a family of four (kids aged 1.5 and 4) Coin-operated laundry facilities available was a bonus Public bath on floor 10 was nice to have Breakfast buffet was good (cost extra) Great location less than 5 min from train station. Walk 5-10 min to get to loads of shopping, restaurants (giant Aeon mall opening next door in Dec 2014), 20 min stroll down busy/fun street to Okayama Castle and Gardens.
Cons: We travelled in November and it was hot, (22 C, around 70 F) but the A/C didn't work. I think they turn it off at a certain point in the year, so setting it at a low temp only blows air around the room. We had to crack the window but it only opens about 3-4 inches for safety reasons. The staff brought us a fan but then housekeeping took it away the next morning and we had to ask for it again. Minor issue but our Japanese was terrible so communication was slightly difficult.
6.0 Good
Pros: Convenient location in walking distance from the train station. Well equipped room.

7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, nice location and good atmosphere at the bar downstairs
Cons: There was kind of a smell in the room, I guess due to humidity + heat.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is wonderful and public space is clean
Cons: The room is smaller than I think
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nicest staff ever. Super helpful. They even carried my luggage upstairs, to help me with my injured back.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good for stay
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location, clean bathrooms and toilets. After check-in, you will get a free drink( sake or soft drink),it’s pretty special.
Cons: The stairs up to the room is narrow and sharp curved, so that it’s a bit inconvenient for people with big suitcases. The dormitory(upper bed) doesn’t have curtains surrounded by so there’s no privacy at all. Also, I received a mail at 11:00p.m which asked me to pick up the room key before 12:00pm(but I already got mine in hand),that makes me really confused. After I sent a rechecked mail to the hostel, the staff replied I need to change my bed the next day without any explanation(But I’m the only guest) It’s really weird.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff are great, and the place just has a really nice and chill atmosphere
Cons: The top bunk beds don't have curtains.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very kind and helpful. The bar is very cosy.
Cons: Not many restaurants close.
7.5 Good
Pros: Perfect location The bar under the hostel Free welcome drink!
Cons: No privacy Not worth the money
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and Owners were friendly and welcoming. A free drink was offered on arrival and there was an option for breakfast, as well. They are not far from the train station, located right off of a covered shopping street. Okayama has some interesting places to visit - including gardens, the nearby Bizen-ware ceramics area; and they're at the crossroads for connections to the islands of Kyushu and Shikoku.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice lounge/bar area downstairs (although sort of expensive). Rooms are large and kitchen and bathrooms are well-equipped.
Cons: Walls and floor seemed very thin as we could hear noise both from downstairs (until it closed) as well as adjacent rooms, even though everyone else was trying to be quiet. Window curtains are very thin and almost useless against light, which is a problem when the sun rises at 4 am in the summer. Uniquely among pretty much any capsule hotel or hostel, lockers are not provided by default.

6.8 Good
Pros: Its an amazing place to stay for the couples. Romantic enough for seduction
Cons: The channels were limited on TV. It would be better to access to worldwide channel. And there was need of beautiful girls for MASSAGE

Lazy House - Hostel - Okayama - Building
13
8.9 Excellent (14 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Lazy House - Hostel in Okayama (Kita Ward), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Orient Museum and Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, refrigerator in a common area, and lockers. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: It's close to the station and a big Mall. The surrounding is quiet.
Cons: It's a little appartement you share with others. The space is narrow and on hot days it gets warm and uncomfortable especially when you don't stay next to the airconditioning/ window. The bathroom couldn't be locked and the kitchen was poorly equipped.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice apartment stay close to the centre of Okayama. Comfortable twin beds, fridge, toiletries, towels, microwave etc provided. Quiet location within walking distance of Okayama station and main tourist sights. I would definitely recommend this place!
7.5 Good
Pros: Private feeling despite being a guest house
Cons: Bathroom a little unprivate
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were really helpful and I had no problems with the room. There was an Aeon mall nearby, which was convenient.
7.5 Good
Pros: Upon arrival, I was very happy. I was offered a free water bottle. I was contacted before I arrived via WhatsApp to ask my arrival time and he checked me in earlier than normal check in hours. He told me they didn't have a lot of people staying in the hostel, so he upgraded me for free from the 4 bed dorm to the 2 bed room which had a free washing machine in it (no drying machine). He even carried my bag up to the room! I was impressed with his customer service! Everything was great until I went to sleep...see negatives for the other half of my stay
Cons: I was happy with mostly everything until about 11:30 at night when I had already gone to sleep. I heard knocking on my door and two Japanese men who spoke no English tried to tell me something then handed me a phone. It was the hostel owner/manager saying there would be a second person sharing the room with me. I have no problem sharing rooms, it is very normal while traveling. But after a free upgrade to the double room and it already being an hour and a half past check in time, it seemed a little unfair to be woken up so late into the night (this guy came in, took a shower, blow dried his hair, then went through his bag...I couldn't get back to sleep until about 1:30). In addition, beds were kind of hard. Nice to have a free washer, but tough to dry my clothes, limited hanging space.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super close to train station . Super clean , comfort beds and cheap! The owner Shinta is super helpful, easy to communicate with.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner had a great welcome and helped us in resolving all issues related to accommodation in his apartments.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very helpful, helped me with my bag up the stairs
Cons: 3 floors up. Just an fyi. Not a bad thing for me.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Shinta was super friendly and gave some amazing recommendations for ramen. The hostel is actually an apartment block converted into hostel rooms. Comfortable bed and the locker space was handy.
Cons: Would have been great to know beforehand that there is no elevator. Was difficult for me since I had a large suitcase so I ended up leaving it at the station lockers.
Hotel Maira - Okayama - Building
14
8.1 Excellent (3,508 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Maira, you'll be centrally located in Okayama, a 6-minute walk from Aeon Mall Okayama and 14 minutes by foot from Orient Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a computer station, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was good for being close to Okayama city nightlife.
Cons: The cartoon mascot decor was a little odd. I was also a bit surprised to see hardcore adult film channels available considering the mascot decor gave more of a family friendly vibe, instead of business hotel. I would be a bit worried about children flipping through channels and stumbling upon that.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Old but clean rooms with all amenities. The staff is super friendly and there are free drinks, free breads in the morning and free ice-cream. It's located near the station and surrounded by a lot of restaurants and bars. Nice stay for a reasonable price =)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Next time I will add breakfast on my booking, location is little bit far from JR station but perfect.
Cons: For me it's perfect

Cons: Nothing....
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location is kinda convenient
Cons: I believe this place used to be an adult hotel (and they did slight refurbishing). Bed is very soft and carpet has a moldy / wet smell.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect, not too far from the station or sights. Staff were friendly, and the room was bright and clean. There were lots of fun freebies available in the lobby, including hot drinks and ice creams.
7.5 Good

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel I would say with a very good location, friendly staffs. It’s also offering some pretty good facilities making it just awesome overall. I definitely recommend it
Cons: I wish there could be a small wardrobe where to put clothes.

6.8 Good
Pros: It's clean, as probably every Japanese hostel is and modern.
Cons: The price is just way too high. Beds are small, no place for luggage (all is put into the hallway), you can't even store the luggage securely before 4pm. The guy cleaning stomped around like an elephant, granted, you're probably not in the house in that time period. Everything is just cramped.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is pretty spot on. The place was nicely cleaned as was the showers and toilets. The WiFi was also stable, which is always important.
Cons: Everything was fine yet it felt like everything was a bit lacking.
6.8 Good
Pros: It’s was good place to stay but wouldn’t be my top choice.
Cons: I didn’t really like how the towels had to be paid for. I also felt that my items were less secured since the lockers was incredibly small. However, it was good for a one night stay.
7.5 Good
Pros: close to station and shops.Bike hire at good value for the day.
Cons: Female dorm to close to kitchen.very noisy! At least a door to divide would have helped. Very small kitchen and only 4 chairs!!
6.3 Good
Pros: CHECK IN: Super easy and efficient, and the guy at the desk was friendly. ROOM: Good size for 3 adults, tatami style room. Air conditioning worked well. BATHROOM: Well stocked, good facilities. Best toilets ever. Generally clean, not counting hair plugging the shower drains. LOCATION: Central location, easily accessible by bus or tram.
Cons: BEDDING: I'm no stranger to sleeping on futon, but the futon and pillows in the private rooms were pitifully thin. Could basically feel the tatami under you. Most uncomfortable bedding ever. Would need to be blackout drunk to actually be able to get a decent rest on these futon. BATHROOM: The showers kept flooding due to hair in the drains. CARPET: Carpet leading to private rooms needs relaxing. Lifting, stained, and smells mouldy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I stayed for two nights in May. Good location in the middle of a lively commercial district. Short walk away from the Tenmaya bus stop, where you can easily get a bus to the garden/castle. Dormitory, showers, and kitchen were very clean. The bed area has a privacy curtain, power outlets, and a personal light. There is space in the common area for large luggage.
Cons: Depending on the time of year you stay, there may be an event being advertised ad nauseum over the street loud speaker (in my case, it was an advertisement for Golden Week sales). Fortunately, it stops at a reasonable time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was really good. Also, doing laundry was easy and convenient which I really appreciated!
5.0 Okay
Pros: The staff at the hostel is very friendly. Bathroom was nice and clean
Cons: The two person room we had was very noisy. The room was very dusty and the matrasses were rockhard.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Middle of shopping street, efficient check in, clean and good airco. We were 4 (family) in a private room (nr5) at the 3rd floor. We had a good night. Good walking distance from the garden. Best toilet ever.
Cons: Room just big enough for the four of us.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good location in between Okayama station and Okayama Castle/Kourakuen. There is an onsen bath close to the hostel for those who prefer that over the showers.
Cons: Linen were clean, but the pillow and comforter must have been quite dusty because I started sneezing every time I lay down on the bed. Also, walls were super thin so I woke up every time someone spoke in the room nextdoors or walked up the stairs outside.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location, close to castle and garden and city center. Tram line is in front of house. Station is reachable by tram.
Cons: Small rooms, hotel is a bit dated.
7.5 Good
Cons: The bed are under the curtain. The curtain was so dusty.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very close by Tram 1 stop 3 and also within easy walking distance of Koraku-en gardens and castle and some other attractions. Inclusive breakfast although not the best was adequate. Launderette and ice facilities were on our floor (7)
Cons: Our double room 720, I considered cramped for 1 person - we were 2 and had luggage! So disappointed. About a 25cm step up into bathroom cubicle and managed to bang my knee on "climbing down" - small deep bath to shower in. Tired sink enamel. All expected features in the room just lack of space to use them. Room was very hot - air con when switched on defaulted to 24 degrees and limited to 18 as the low end of range. Difficult to cool room even with an open window. Couldn't find a TV channel using English language. Reception staff had quite limited use of English.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The helpfull staff. We could change the 2 rooms with a small semidouble bed for 2 rooms with 2 big single beds. (We paid ¥1000 per night per room more, but it was worth it). The parking next to the hotel could be used for about ¥1200 (4pm-10am). The shopping mall is 3 minutes walk. The Okayama castle is 8 minutes walk. The price was the best: ¥5200(+1000) for a 2 beds bedroom with breakfast on a sunday night in the summer.
Cons: The semi double beds are 130cm wide so to little space for normal sized people. In the booking.com site it says 130-150cm. But it is really 130cm. Breakfast is very simple, but it is free. Do not expect too much. And the walls are very thin, so you hear the noise from the other rooms.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money. Very good location next to the city center, the castle and the garden. Very good varied buffet breakfast included.
Cons: The staff does not speak English. The public parking next to the hotel was full. We had to go quite far away, with no possibilty of unloading the car in front of the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location close to Korakuen and Okayama Castle. 15 minute walk to JR Okayama Station. Free breakfast was fantastic with great selection of food. Will return to this hotel if we travel in the area again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, close to the garden and castle, the room is enough spacious for two persons and suitcases.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very close to Okayama castle, bus station and a shopping area. It's about 2 km from the train station but no worries there's a 100 yen tram service. Good breakfast and nice staff. The room has a nice view of the town.
Cons: Compared to other places we'd stayed in Japan, it's a bit old and not as clean. Wi-Fi was slow and at times it just didn't go at all.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Coffie in lobbie. Ergonomic pillows.
Cons: Super small toilet room. It was really cold(draught) to sleep near a window.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were exactly as the photos depicted, clean and simple. The washing machines were right near our room and easy to use. Very convenient
Cons: There were not many English speaking staff so communication was a little difficult but nothing we couldn’t handle
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, simple, and reasonably priced hotel close to the main park and castle, as well as shopping arcades and restaurants. I would stay here again.
Cons: Although the elevator does stop on the 1st (UK ground) floor, this isn't immediately obvious due to its location and so many people may feel they need to take the stairs up to the reception on the 2nd (UK 1st) floor, which isn't actually necessary. This wasn't really a big deal for me, though.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: breakfast is great!
Cons: location is a bit far from JR station
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Japanese style breakfast was excellent
6.8 Good
Cons: 1) the hotel has nothing to do with "View": you see concrete-glass boxes. 2) rooms and facilities are from 70's-80's.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location of hotel is excellent and rooms are of convenient size as is bathroom. The surrounding too is fine with plenty of restaurants at short distance not mentioning shops. The distance to the castle is fair (15 easy minutes by walk)
Cons: Arriving at he hotel you have to climb external stairs which is quite hard carrying luggage. To find out there is a lift not clearly indicated.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: I was given a smoking room although my kids don’t smoke :-) Also the aircon was very noisy
6.3 Good
Pros: Clean and reasonably close to main sights.
Cons: Only one elevator in the hotel which meant long waits. No European or American food on Breakfast buffet. Room was quite small with only one chair.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the garden and the castle (10-15 minutes walk), very close to museums
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location and friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Futons were a bit thin and difficult to get a good night's sleep on.

Cons: The bus stops on the other side of the hotel so have to walk all around to get in.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A spacious and comfortable hotel near the Korakuen Garden and the cherry tree promenade near the river.
7.0 Good
Pros: We appreciated kindness of the staff people, clean rooms, very rich breakfast, beautiful view from rooms and breakfast hall.
Cons: Maybe one person speaking english would make communication easier.
