The Doug Fir Restaurant and Front Desk was awesome
Cigarette smoke coming into our bedroom, thin walls, rooms enhance outdoor noise
The staff was super friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating and made my needs easily met. The lobby is very "modern chic." The room was cool and comfortable. I liked the painted wall and the various seating/desk options.
The shower pressure was very low, which can be difficult for people with long curly hair. It also took quite a long time to warm up. I felt cold while showering, even though I had the water temperature set to the highest possible.
Simple, nice looking room. Bed is comfortable and wide. Pillows are perfect and clean sheets.
TV never worked for us, with only 1 single channel. People yelling and partying almost all night outside of our room, couldn't get much sleep. Bathroom very cramp and small.
Love love the Jupiter; this is the second time I've stayed there, and I would definitely stay there again. Their people are wonderful and helpful, and having the Doug fir right there is super rad (in addition to all the other super walkable places). Bed was super comfy (except for the second night...see con review), loved the art (and the great coffee!) in the lobby.
I know it's Oregon, and thus a bit on the damp side, but on my second night (before my flight out) I woke up in the middle of the night because the bed was soaked from water in the room condensing on me. I had to crank the heat super high to dry it out, and it took awhile. Again...I don't know what could be done to help that (other than keeping the air/heat on high all night like I did).
Clean and comfortable. A must if seeing a show at the Doug fir
The employees at Jupiter are amazing. So nice and genuine and super friendly. I instantly felt at home.
Decent located, fairly small-sized, hip hotel. More adult-ish spot. Cool bar and restaurant (Doug Fir). Great, friendly staff. Definitely for more alternative or hipster folks, but not too much so. Room was pretty quiet. A/C was new and worked well. I'd stay there again.
Slightly overpriced for the value. Free wireless wasn't great. Beds were super low to the floor (mattresses sat on top of wooden platforms maybe 4-6" off the ground) - was hard to get up and down so low with my messed up lower back.
centralized location. close to everything and not to far from down town Portland!
not enough outlets in the room. it was more of a renovated motel. the rooms were a little outdated but great for the price and location!
The hotel is in a nice location in Southeast Portland, within walking distance of Holladay Park and the light rail. It was comfortable for the one night I stayed there. The staff was also friendly.
The room was small and the rooms open to the outside, not a hallway. It obviously used to be a motel. It was therefore too expensive given what they had to work with.
Rooms at the Jupiter are cool & hip. The beds are comfy & I thoroughly enjoyed the whimsical details scattered throughout. The staff is friendly & gives expedient service. Very cool to have the hotel connected with Doug Fir.
I wish the indoor pool still would've been available or at least a hot tub. A map of the area with cool Jupiter hotel's picks would've been nice also. We had an idea via yelp what to try but a locals perspective always prevails.
Simple but comfortable furnishings, very comfortable bed. No coffee machine in room, or fridge, but free coffee at front desk. Nothing fancy or upscale, but totally fine with cute and unique touches. Nice staff. Really great location! Had a great stay.
I loved the staff, the architecture, the rooms were fun, no problems at all, the noise was not an issue, and the hotel provided ear plugs if you felt the need for them. Overall, the location of this establishment is amazing, everyone was very friendly and accepting. There's a lot of love in this particular area, you'll feel welcome everywhere and by everyone. Thank you Jupiter.
I wouldn't say I didn't like anything, I would say that with our group of kids (some of them were very immature) this place is not really for them, this is a great place for someone who's in the 21+ age range looking for a good time! the atmosphere can be intimidated if you are looking for "cozy and quite" and are more conservative in your values, but this is a wonderful experience, definitely recommend.
It is a fun hotel that have a good vibe and energy about it. The staff is friendly and the music venue adds a lot to the experience.
Poor maintenance on the hotel; The shower fluctuated from scolding hot to freezing cold in a matter of seconds and then back. They were also doing some work in one of the rooms near ours so we had to listen to a loud saw and nailing.
