What are the pros of staying at Inn at the Convention Center?
Clean, friendly staff and good location. Great staff very friendly. Very nice room and bed. Reasonable price. Got a nice room with a view. The staff was very nice. The room was spacious & clean with a view of the city. The room was very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. The check in was great. Great location, lots of coffee shops, restaurants and shopping mall - all within walking distance. Location is wonderful. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Clean, amenities and price good. Staff was amazing. Very close walk to the Moda center. Staff. Location. Ease. Proximity to the convention center and price were the main highlights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The check-in process was quick and easy. Parking was convenient. Good access to the East Portland neighborhoods that we wanted to visit. I initially chose Motel 6 for the location. After 1 night, I decided to change for less money and far better accommodations at the Inn. Outward appearance sure fooled me. It had a dark overall first impression. Once inside, starting with the professionalism of the Greeting staff… He was very knowledgeable regarding local specialties. The room was very good for the price, no odors or smells, sheets were clean, everything exceed the price tag. Even the view from the window.
What are the cons of staying at Inn at the Convention Center?
Not great neighborhood and unsafe parking. The night desk clerk was horrible. Noise all night, unable to sleep. Need to paid parking fee $15 per night. The parking entrance was hidden and a bit confusing. Getting a bit old and the bathroom facilities could use an update. Toilet took forever to flush and was weak. Shower temps changed sporadically and it needs a new head and knob. Toilet was broken. Super noisy and cold. Toilet was running. The place smelled of weed. Bath room needs updating. Toilet had to be helped most times to fill tank again. Water valve leaked. Temperature would change during shower. Should have some type of breakfast. Carpet in room old, and ragged in many places. The past 2 times I’ve stated there the bathtubs will NOT DRAIN. I’ve mentioned this to the morning clerk at the front desk just to have my input about this problem fall on deaf ears. You would think hey would refund my money or give me a free night as I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past 5 years. The maid could do a better job as well. The beds need to be updated, and the table and floor lamps need to be fixed as they are loose and could pose a shock hazard. To many unsavory people walking around. The crazy charge for parking... ridiculous. Lots of people on drugs in the surrounding area - but that's just Portland. Keep your head on a swivel! Tight parking. Weird parking lot. The hotel is noticeably aged and in need of a renovation. The carpets need replaced very badly. I didn't like that parking wasn't included in the price of the stay. Outdated building, the smell in the hallways is not the freshest. My car got broken into in the parking garage. Wifi was intermittent at best. Speed was very slow when connected. Fortunately the Convention Center had great WiFi. Street Noise in the room., tram/light rail run just next to the hotel. Stains all around the room and it felt so dirty just being in there. I had a very hard time sleeping. The wifi was not reliable at times and the room had an unpleasant odor. Everything. Took a while for the A/C settings that we wanted to kick in. The hallway had a "musty" smell to it. The main negative was a lot of pounding of some sort from the room upstairs (we were in Unit 211 I believe), that lasted about 1/2 hour around 9:30-10pm, but subsided after that. Street noise was prevalent, but then again, we live in the quieter suburbs, so I should have expected more exterior noise. Homeless people around not safe parking lot smells horrible. I couldn’t think of anything right now. All the stuff I didn’t like was next door in Motel 6. Old carpet the room doesn't smell good the bath towels are all worn out and many more. Bathtub plug was not there.
