Modern and clean hotel, good location close to the main shopping and restaruant streets. Staff were nice and friendly and very helpful in locating a dostor for me. Beds were quite firm, would have liked a softer bed
Location was great. Rooms had all the necessities. Limited free parking out front, beds were hard (as were found in most of Italy though)
Spacious, nice room Walking distance to main station is kind of far
We were driving and found the location was very convenient and the parking was very useful. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts were fabulous but it would be great to get expresso as part of the breakfast and not an extra charge.
Size of room and staff helpfulness. They upgraded our room because it was our honeymoon which was nice The parking is a disaster. It is off site and you have to pay 18 euro for the privelage. They have free parking out front but you can never get a spot so beware
Nothing Bath room
The air conditioning in my room was non functional
very modern and fresh rooms. staff were helpful, letting me use their computer after my wallet was stolen on the Cinque Terre (we didn't have a laptop to use the internet in the room) The address in the hotel information didn't have the number, so even with the tom-tom, finding the hotel in the one way system was a bit hard
Front desk staff helpful. Breakfast included in price was excellent. A comfortable place to 'land' at the end of a long day of travel.
Room and cleanliness TV channels (not many international channels)
Reception staff were especially helpful Bar did not open until 6.30 p.m., and even then it was only service in the main reception area.
Well located & good view from room
The hotel lobby, restaurant, conference rooms and rooftop garden were all first class. The room was okay - could use updating. Simple, but clean.
We stayed at this hotel due to my husband having a medical incident while on vacation in the Cinque Terre. He was in hospital in La Spezia and this hotel is well located near the hospital and also overlooking the harbout. When my husband was discharged from hospital, we stayed in a junior suite that was perfect for our needs. The staff were very obliging in helping us to have accessibility in an older building. As well there is a good breakfast included on the lobby level and a restaurant off the 1st floor. We found the restaurant to be lovely because it has an outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour; however, the menu is essentially the same everyday with limited buffet options. That is where we could see some room for growth.
Location close to town and the port Lack of available parking and high cost of parking.
Hotel has a convenient location, close to where you might like to board a ferry to view the C.T. Reception staff were very helpful. We asked for a room with a view and a quiet room and we received a quiet room with a lovely view. With adding these into bookings.com when you are making a hotel booking.
unfortunately I would find anyting positive to comment on at this hotel from our experience. As a hotel broker I see many hotels and the service and price of this hotel is far from satisfactory. Our room was not as described, we experienced insects in the room, the room was not clean and in need of repair of basic utilities. The service from the staff was far from satisfactory, rude and unhelpfull. I would struggle to recomend this hotel to any traveller. see comments above
Location was good for traveling by car Room seemed outdated.
friendly and helpful reception staff, very good location of the hotel air condition did not work, insufficient sound isolation from the neighbor room, bathroom would need some small repairs, some of food at the breakfest was not fresh
it was a clean and well run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff breakfast could have been better
Friendly and helpful reception staff. Our room had a very nice view to the harbour. Announced refurbishing of the hotel, was very clearly recognizable. Restaurant only served a barbeque buffet during our stay in August.
The restaurant down the street "i Mitili" was amazing. Get to the Breakfast early.
The rates presented great value for money The location was terrible with the hotel in a run-down area with no shops or restaurants. It was far from the city centre. The decor and furniture of the rooms were extremely dated and rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. The heating also didn't work well.
The staff was most helpful. We reached the hotel at about 9 PM, and the lady at the reception helped us order some food. Given that we had just about two X 1/2 days at La Spezia, they helped us plan our trip such that we were able to cover Cinque Terre and go to Pisa!
Gorgeous rooms -- especially the quad, which ended up being two different rooms -- perfect for us as two couples. Price was very good for how nice it was. Also a good variety of breakfast options. Not very close to city centre or train, so take advantage of free shuttle to hotel . Also, be sure to ask hotel staff for recommendations of nearby restaurants. We liked Mitili a lot.
- large, comfortable room with balcony - shuttle service to train station from where trains depart to the cinque terre towns Although breakfast was served from 8 to 10 a.m., certain items on the breakfast buffet were not replenished after 9 a.m.
Well set up for the cinque terre train connection Near a main road
The woman in the frontdesk was very nice - she helped us with good restaurant recomedations and direction. they give you free raid to the cinqua terra train (back and forward) the driver was supper kind to us. The hotel is old so the aircondition is old. there is no hut chocolate.
We thought it was great how we could have our family with 3 children all together in the one area and it was great value for money for us! The included breakfast was also fantastic and the front desk reception staff were happy and helpful and even though we don't speak much italian they were able to speak fluent English. Also the shuttle bus was really helpful and useful to us. We thought it was excellent- no complaints.... Many hotels now have free wifi which is very useful.
Great service concerning Cinque Terre. Woman at the desk spoke excellent English and was so kind and helpful! We got our tickets for CT from the hotel.Good breakfast. Free shuttle-bus to train station. Safe parking.
The staff was very, very helpful. Bed could have been softer
Very friendly and cosy hotel situated off the bitten tracks, but with normal comfort. And the low price caused by distance from cities (really nothing by car) is the strong point. The Italian breakfast and the narrow road from the main route are just things to be noted - not the weaknesses. 5 of 5!!!
Balcony, clean, view, peace and quiet a little of the beaten path
cheap price mutch noise between the rooms, but was quet in the nights.small room .poor breakfast-not easy to find with gps
The friendly assisstance given by the staff when I encountered a problem making an international phone call. The convenient location to the beach at Lerici. Parking was very limited & breakfast could be improved by using "fresh" baked items in lieu of pre-packaged.
It is a very pleasant landscape around the hotel, it is quiet and very nice.
view of mountains indoor decoration, breakfast,
ok for this price
Good views Not convenient,noisy!
We stayed for one night only. Our intentions were to visit Cinque Terre and the hotel is close enough (10km) from La Spezia which was the starting point for our journey. It is located up in a mountain village and the view from the window was amazing. The breakfast was not one of the best, but this was compensated by the fact that we totally enjoyed our staying there. There is not many option to choose from for a dinner - actually there is only one ve-e-e-ery local place which closes around 22:00 so if you want to have a late dinner you should drive down to the closest village.
Very good view from window Breakfast, because everything packed.
Wonderful position. Stylish hotel
We stopped for 1 night with a sea view room and could have easily stayed for more. Excellent value for money with a medium sized room, but with a fantastic balcony overlooking the bay and a second balcony for catching the sun with some privacy... A Lovely small port town too, supported by the hotel helping us to rent a speedboat for the afternoon to tour the Cinque Terra the best way.
the room which had a very nice view. The location was also good the staff could be nicer. Breakfast was poor considering other hotels price wise
Pleasant venue with lovely view of marina from room balconies and from restaurant.Pleasant relaxing outdoor pool. Quiet neighbourhood. Good to be just out of Portovenere but within bus access of it. Not wholly reliable for communications and information and sometimes a bit too laid back for convenience.
The breakfast was not so good.
The restaurant was nice. They had an elevator but when you got off on your floor with all the luggage there were 2 sets of stairsto your room so it was not good. When I emailed this hotel they flat oout lied to me about the location. They would not help with baggage. I had to walk to a public bus stop about 9 blocks away and I have a bad knee. I was several kilometers from where I wanted to be and it messed up my plans. The room was tiny.
Great location! Right on the water. Great small village. For a great meal, go to the restaurant NEXT to the hotel. Air conditioning was weak.
Excellent value for money
Location, facility, made an effort Hotel is slightly understaffed
Fantastic location, a beautiful quit corner by a small charming marina make sure you have a Sea view room
central location meant very good access to restaurants bars beaches shops and walks did not check if it had air conditioning but sleeping with the windows opened could be a noisy experience even on the third floor
Very close to everything without the high price. We have stayed at the Florida with the high price, and it was a long walk to town. There was a restaurant and breakfast was included. It was convenient to a beach and the water for swimming and lying on the rocks. A lot of noise on the street side where our room was located. There were no fans, and in July it was very hot.
Good service, cheap
helpfulness of the staff especially with regard to car parking could have improved variety of breakfast choice
Just revisiting old haunts
good location heat could have been turned on longer
Close to activities for Cinque Terre -brief train ride. Convenient to shopping, restaurants.
It was very well priced and conveniently situated for most things you wanted to do.
The staff was very helpful. We loved our room, the breakfast, and the computer for guests to use. We extended our stay for a full week because we liked the hotel and the city so much. We liked everything
We had a baby with us and staff coulnt have been more helpful and generous. They offered their own computer for accessing and printing some documents. Not really - the water went off early in the morning but apparently it was allover La Spezia
Good location, comfortable rooms did not like that the shower drained to the entire bathroom floor, a bit musty
Staff was very nice. Free internet access. We were upgraded to a family room which was huge and very comfortable. Room smelled a bit funny, but looked very clean.
very nice staff, big room
Hotel centerally located close to many good restaurants, within easy walking distance to train station and access to Cinque Terre. Good value with a good continental breakfast and on demand expresso and cappacino inclided with breakfast. Good value for money. No free wifi although free 15 minute access available on hotel computer. All 2 & 3 star hotels we stayed in Italy had free wifi. The hotel website did not provide detailed walking instructions from the train station to the hotel (essential as most tourists arrive by train).
helpfull staff poor aircon in our room
Decent budget hotel Quite a bit of street noise (and I was in one of the quieter rooms), no air con and it got quite stuffy with the window closed (which it needed to be because of the noise)
For first time to this hotel, it is quite hard to find. The staff at reception counter does not speak English. Lighting is not sufficient.
The room was very small but adequate, with a good tiny bathroom. No air conditioning, but was given a fan, and no lift for heavy baggage, but staff helped get it upstairs.
I liked tverithing, I tell my friends about this hotel. I leked Italy.
Room is too small, expecialy battroom, staff is mostly unfriendly and don't speak english, price for all that is too high. Only advantage is location, it is very near Cinque Terre.
Extremely small bath room. Even if there is not enough place for a person. There is a small family hotel and staffs can not speek English. Also, they closed the hotel entrance before 24:00, so if you think coming back late, you have to warn them.
The staff was helpful and the room and bathroom was clean and relatively quiet (we're in Italy, the streets are always a little noisy!) No elevator but the staff was super nice and helped me with my heavy luggage.
I enjoyed being in walking distance of the station and centrally located. Unfortunately they use a spray in the corridors which is so extreme you gag from it. They are probably trying to get rid of the smell of smoke.
This is a small family run hotel, close to the Cinque Terre, good location, kind, helpful staff.
Lovely breakfast and friendly staff despite our language differences. Spacious room. Free internet a plus. Distance from station a drawback for o/night travellers but handy to markets, shops.
Location was a real plus - on the beach and also one of the hotels nearest to town and all the good restaurants and shops. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestion of great dining places.
The view from our bedroom was beautiful. It was centrally located. The furniture was very shabby, the bed mattress was hard I could feel the springs. The front desk people did not try to be helpful I think because it was the end of the season perhaps they were tired.
Location( right in town), balcony and room overlooked the bay, spacious bathroom, fabulous breakfasts, helpful English speaking staff, quiet, bus stop (to La Spezia) only metres away no refrigerator in room
The hotel's location and quietness of the room. Information provided about organisation of stay (breakfast, recption desk telelephone #, internet access) is lacking.
The hotel location was great. We had a room with a little balcony with an amazing view to the sea.
Location was excellant close to everything and the beach was just across the road. Breakfast and cleaning staff are friendly. aircond.was not enough as it was very hot and we noticed that we were the only room that did not have proper balcony furniture but they did get us a table when asked.
The distinctive location on the waterfront and near the business district, as well as the fine furnishings and friendly staff.
We had a medical emergency, and the staff were very helpful in dealing with it There was no bar fridge to keep drinks cool. No tea and coffee facilities, having said that, it's location was perfect, The room was clean and the beds comfortable
Wonderful view of the Bay of Poets, good nearby swimming facilities, good breakfast in a lovely breakfast room. A poor welcome from the hotel manager who did not explain anything about the facilities available or welcome us to the hotel. Only after three days did we discover that there were sunbeds available next to the sea. Nor were there any notes (in English or Italian) explaining how to use the telephone or television. No English speaking channels were available on the TV.
Great location. Bus from La Spezia stops within a block. Easy walk to beaches and main square.
More or less OK Very slow Internet. No restaurant to have a dinner. No bar to relax (do not operate during my staying)
It you would like to stay in a typical italian beach town, this is the place. Byron was place outside the center of Lerici, but only 5 minutes walk. Across the street of the hotel there was a beach, which you had to paid for. To the public beach you had to walk 5 minutes. Nice and big rooms. If you want to see the Cinque Terre, there is a boat leaving from the center of Lerici. The room where we the breakfast was served was small compare to the amount of guests the hotel had.
Hotel Byron is perfectly situated, close to the beach and just a short walk from the town centre. We had a nice stay in an air conditioned four bed family room with balcony facing the seaside.
rooms are clean and mine was quite big; the hotel is in walking distance from central square of Lerici the breakfast is quite poor considering the price of the room (100 euros for one night); I had very better breakfasts in cheaper hotels, maybe in other parts of Italy...
The best is the location, people at the front desk spoke english witch is important The breakfast was with no variatins, same ingredients for one week. The staff could have been more proper dressed. The website does not reflect th content of the food.
Short walk from the beach and our room overlooked the ocean. Also, short walk from the older part of town where festivities were happening. Ideally would prefer a room with a balcony next time. Value for money.
clean and air conditioned close to beach and shops/restaraunts Nothing
The location was wonderful and Lerici is a charming town. The access to Cinque Terre by boat was very convenient. The hotel was not bad but cost much more than it was worth. The bathroom needed renovating and they should give customers soap at least which was not available.
Very good hotel with very reasonable rates. Room was clean , breakfast and dinner available and good . Staff very friendly although did not speak much English. Even though hotel is a bit out of the way , walk to railway station and center of the city took 20 minutes and we enjoyed that.. Taxis are available . Hotel very close to railway tracks and trains run most of the night so location somewhat noisy.
The restaurant food is excellent. Location was quite remote, but not far from a bus line. Relatively quiet after dark.
The outside area, and the charm of the old hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast. Charged for breakfast and then charged extra for wanting a second coffee (all small and weak). Expensive for what it offers. This annoying when already paying a high rate for what is a very basic service and accomodation. I liked the hotel and staff but did not feel that it represented value for money.
The ambience, the outdoor dining and patio area, the restaurant and the staff.
Traditional Hotel. Staff excellent
It was close to the station, the staff were very helpful and we stayed in far worse 3 star hotels this trip.
The location in relation to the train station was excellent. The breakfast was nice too. One of the staff members made us feel rushed at breakfast and barely smiled. This made us feel as though we were more of a burden than a valued paying guest.
the air conditioning the location was less than what we expected, but not terrible
The hotel staff was very kind and informative. Our quad room was large and comfortable. The breakfast was good. This hotel was one of the most expensive on our trip - the same as our hotel in Venice. The close proximity to Cinque Terre makes the price fair.
the access to city, port, transport and shopping was wonderful.
This hotel is right across the street from the main hotel which is good if you're passing through. Shower was itty bitty!
best feat was being right next to the main station, free internet also v.good and room ok too. For some who like having a nice breakfast though, forget about it. The most spartan I have ever experienced I'm afraid, really poor probably for lack of effort. For some who like having a nice breakfast though, forget about it. Hotel Mary was fantastic! about 2min walk from the station ( acess to cinqa terre). Staff were friendly. Room was large, clean and comfortable!
The hotel was very conveniently situated for visiting La Spezia and the Cinque Terra as it is directly across from the train station. There are many shops and restaurants close by and internet access is available either at the hotel or just down the road. The hotel staff were very friendly and English was understood. The continental breakfast was excellent. I was travelling on my own and felt safe and secure staying at the hotel and coming and going from the hotel. I have no hesitations at all about recommending the Hotel Mary.
The pizza place around the conner, but it had nothing to do with the hotel It was the worst hotel that we stayed at in all of Italy. We checked out as soon as we were able because of the condition on the hotel. Insulation was falling out of the ceiling, paper thin walls, the beds were like sleeping on cots, and no matter what room you were in you could hear the traiffic from the street below.
good location not enough food choices for breakfast and quantaties not replenished quickly outside street noise so loud it was almost impossible to sleep at night bed very uncomfortable matress needed replacing noise from other rooms clearly audible
Lovely to stay in a modern, comfortable hotel right on the water. For those who like to swim it is an excellent choice. Would recommend for Australians, it has a beach with sand. Very comfortable, with friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely recommend. Very different experience from the more historical Italian hotels, which we have also enjoyed, but nice to have a change. Good restaurants close by in the town itself and in Lerici, an easy walk.
We had a seaview room with the bay literally lapping on the rocks right below our balcony. Beautiful view of the town. The staff was wonderful and obviously cared about the quality of our stay there.
I enjoyed the room with sea view just few meters from the sea with a rather unique location. The staff of the Hotel is very charming and welcoming. The position of the Hotel allows to enjoy the nice walkable way San Terenzo-Lerici. sky tv, cable internet, minibar and deckchairs on the balcony are available to enjoy a nice breakfast on the balcony. If you are looking for a large Hotel with large common areas you might be in the wrong place. It is a small hotel where all the space is devoted to rooms so do not expect more than hotel rooms. Breakfast and restaurant are available in the "Colombo" bathing establishment belonging to a separate management where you can also have a 25 euros dinner menu upon request. The offer of restaurants in the surroudings is large, try to avoid the most turistique place. "La Miranda" (Tellaro, Lerici) and "La Posta" (La Spezia) are good addresses to have a nice dinner. If you want to enjoy an exclusive beach go to "Fiascherino" at "Eco del Mare" beach (average price including lunch between 60-80 euros per person).
As a small hotel they were very attentive to the guests. Great recommedations for dining. Upgrade mattress and bedding
The closeness to the Station. Would be a pleasant improvement if Staff smiled occasionally. The younger aged staff were pleasant whereas the older ones were quite grumpy.
It was ideally located for train trips to Cinque Terre. Just what we wanted. Friendly staff, and very helpful. Breakfast was good. There needs to be a major upgrade of WiFi service. It was very poor, and very, very expensive! Not what the modern traveller expects. I wasted many Euro waiting for connections, service etc.
location is great staff was no smile
Easy access to the station and a good breakfast Limited tv options
The location next to the train station is ideal as a base for travel to Cinque Terre The pillows were so soft and that makes sleeping uncomfortable.
close proximity to train station limited english of check in staff limited english tv channels no one told us there was an internet computer that we could use
The purpose of our stay here - easy access to Cinque de Terre - was fully served. The hotel was well situated, and the staff helpful. the breakfast was very nice - wide variety. There was some ambiguity about what was included in the breakfast, and what one had to pay extra for, if anything.
Had wonderful view from our 3rd floor window. The staff most helpful with recommendations for good restaurants and maps. Proximity to railway station was excellent. The shower was a bit small.
The building is very old, and they have kept many of the original features. My room was huge with ancient exposed beams, but a very modern bathroom. The staff are most helpful, and happy to help organise tours etc. I had an injury and they were very helpful in getting medical treatment and ensuring I got any assistance I needed.
Good breakfast facilities; nice staff Chipped cups; poor lift service ground floor button not working
The owners were fantastic! Even the people we were directed to have breakfast at, were fantastic! We were driven to a carpark and driven back to the hotel. We showed up and were offered a free upgrade to our rooms (originally supposed to have 1 room for 4 people, gave us 2 double rooms for the same price). The rooms were the largest we've ever stayed in while traveling through Europe. Beds were very comfortable. Perfect location to catch a train if you're traveling the Cinque Terre or any of the small villages nearby. Originally were only supposed to stay 1 night in La Spezia at Casa Dane but stayed an extra night because of the location and hospitality. Definitely recommend this hotel! We were a little confused when we arrived because there was no one at the hotel. We didn't know that we were supposed to call before arrival and then they would meet us at the hotel. All in all, probably our fault and the way things work there... just a bit confusing.
nice bathroom, the owner was nice when we saw her! no one there when we arrived, another guest answered the door! breakfast in a cafe in town,(so had to leave the room etc) , just one coffee & croissant- for 85 euros!
the english breakfast buffet - it was excellent and the Parking near the hotel is very comfortable! The room: we have booked a "deluxe" double room with sea view. To our oppinion room Nr. 234 was not in this category. We had sea view, but the room was small and the bath room was really narrow.
The staff was very friendly and they even gave us a free room update. The location is breathtaking. Do get a room with a view: it is well worth the extra money. Lerici is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Also, the restaurant at the hotel is really worth a visit. We had dinner there and were very happy with the excellent service and quality of the food. The prices are reasonable. The breakfast buffet is very rich and diverse. You will not be disappointed. It could do with a little updating.
Great location for exploring the Cinque Terre; hotel is a 5 min walk from the ferry boarding point, restaurants and waterfront, yet in a quiet location. Staff were very helpful, room was clean and comfortable with a great balcony overlooking the harbour, breakfast was an interesting buffet assortment. Would recommend Lerici as an ideal point from which to explore this area. Beware that due to nature of the location, access to the hotel and walk back from the main square is via steep walkways and stairs; we had no problems but can understand other reviewers comments in this regard.
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The views of Lerici and the Gulf of Poets are spectacular and fair compensation for some of the accessibility challenges to and from the hotel. The breakfast provided is one of the best I have had in Italy and the terrace provides a great location for an afternoon drink overlooking the bay. The hotel restaurant is quite good but rather expensive compared to other choices down in the Piazza Garibaldi. The hotel is difficult to access by vehicle. The road to the hotel is above it and you must carry bags down into the hotel lobby and back up when leaving. I would not recommend this hotel for someone with a disability that made climbing stairs difficult. Reaching the restaurants and shopping around the Piazza Garibaldi requires a shallow descent on path with 100 widely spaced steps. The return back up to the hotel may leave some a bit winded. Pack lightly if staying at the Doria Park!
We liked the very comfortable, individually designed, well-equipped bedrooms, loved the peaceful terraces with stunning views over the harbour and the Bay of Poets to the hills of the Cinque Terre and were impressed with the friendliness of all the staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble. The wonderful breakfasts more than lived up to their reputation and were available until midday, which guaranteed a relaxed start to the day. On the day we ordered melon and prosciutto for a light lunch it was stunningly presented and we enjoyed our evening meals too. The fresh fruit available in reception was much appreciated. We were very glad to have chosen a hotel with private parking, as parking in Lerici is not easy and we did not need the car much during our week's stay. We were a bit disappointed that the restaurant was closed in the evening on 3 of our 7 nights and that a couple of items we selected on the English menu were not available because the Italian menu had changed .We really couldn't recommend the jugs of coffee on the breakfast buffet, though staff were very willing to fetch coffees from the bar. It was good to have tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom, though many English visitors would appreciate some milk too.
the town was beautiful, hotel was superb, and I enjoyed the balcony overlooking the harbor. A delightful experience in every way.
