Pros: A beautiful accomodation, with very friendly hosts. Very cozy, with a great terrace with ocean view. Fresh fruit and cake every morning.
Cons: You'll surely need a car!
Pros: Our hosts, Adelia and Guy were very gracious and accommodating. Great food, atmosphere very welcoming. Went out of their way to offer towels and directions for swimming and hiking.
Pros: Our hosts were wonderful, very hospitable & gracious. They & their staff made us feel very welcome and were very helpful & informative about the island. Breakfasts were delicious!
Pros: Great experience at all - owners, staff, cleanliness, breakfast at the terrace! Very nice farmland location, perfect stay:)
Pros: The breakfast was very good. Rooms are beautifully decorated as well as all the house. We had very good time there with our daughter who became friends with the dogs and the cat. She could play in the playground and we had a lot of freedom at the house. The hosts are very friedly and helpful.
Cons: Since the place is already high n the hill, the climate is very humid and you can feel it.
Pros: Nothing to dislike
Cons: Very challenging access for right hand driver (UK) as roads are narrow with Sharp bends. Locals drive at high speed.
Pros: Beautiful facility with lots of little gorgeous touches. View from terrace was stunning and multi sensory..surrounded by the songs of birds, sheep, cows and the resident donkey...the sky ablaze with stars at night. Staff and owners were warm and really helpful. Breakfast was delicious...homemade jam so good. Good jumping off spot for the northeast part of the island and Furnas.
Cons: Not a criticism of the Quinta but be prepared to for travels to other parts of the island to take more time than would appear from the miles. Roads are really windy getting to/from this part of the island...but views are stunning.
Pros: This beautiful house with an amazing view is situated in a quiet area but not too far from the town where you can find everything you need. It is also very well situated if you want to discover this part of the island (N, N-E, S-E). Staying there was the best surprise of our stay on Sao Miguel: perfect room and bathroom, great breakfast made of local products, kind and helpful staff,... Everything there is thought of carefully to give the guests a wonderful moment!
Cons: Really nothing...
Pros: One of the best stays I ever had! Hosts and staff were very welcoming and gaves us a lot of tips about the island. Views are breathtaking. Room, bathroom and common areas were clean. Delicious breakfast from local products. Lots of parking spaces nearby. Would love to come back and maybe try some home made goat cheese :)
Pros: The owners were fantastics!
With a stay at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel in Povoacao, you'll be next to a golf course, just a 3-minute walk from Terra Nostra Park and 9 minutes by foot from Poca da Dona Beija. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Overrated place. To expensive for what you get.
Pros: Great location in the middle of the thermal park
Pros: Great hotel, loved the location, all the staff was excellent & attentive. The hotel & grounds were extremely well kept & clean.
Cons: The only complaint is the shower had no soap holder or a place to put shower toiletries or to place a leg to shave.
Pros: The hotel itself was really nice. Of course the best part was the link to the Terra Nostre Park. That was just amazing. The bed was super comfy and it was great.
Cons: We had some issues with our air con in the room which took 3 days to fix. And overall it's a little pricey considering you're in Portugal. What it wouldn't deter me from going there again.
Pros: The room was clean, and having access to the gardens and bathing pools was exactly what I had wanted for my stay. I did not have the opportunity to eat breakfast at the hotel, but I was so pleased that the offered me a to-go breakfast box since I had to leave the hotel before breakfast began.
Pros: Loved Terra Nostra! The gardens, the thermal pool, the staff, the town, all exceptional.
Pros: everything was wonderful including the staff here!! Only complaint was the bed.
Cons: The bed was very hard and I did not sleep well at all! A mattress foam topper would have been nice as sleep would have made a big difference. That is my only complaint.
Pros: Breakfast was excellent as well as hot springs and gardens. Room was comfortable. After complaining about the lack of quality in the bar for lunch while waiting for the room, the cost of the terrible lunch was removed from my bill when checking out.
Cons: Check in staff had us wait for the room and were very cold. Did not explain anything about the special hot springs or gardens. You are on your own. Lunch in bar was worse than airplane food. Don't eat in the bar!
Pros: Wonderful Art Deco Hotel maintained in minute detail, unforms, new wing, furniture, indications on the wall etc. Etc. Beautifully and carefully renovated!
Cons: Service at the bar could be quicker!
Pros: Very nice welcome, building renovated with style, spacious room, bathroom clean with a very nice shower, the bed comfortable, a well-balanced breakfast. Perfect at the evening and morning for taking a bath and walk without the tourist clouds... a wonderful relaxing hotel.
Cons: only one thing to mention: do not choose the Pineapple as dessert - it is ridiculous, 7 Euro for a slice of rather not original Azorean pineapple. When I mentioned that to the waiter - no reaction... sorry, change it!
Pros: Location in the oark
Cons: Noise from the bar.
Located in Povoacao, Furnas Boutique Hotel Thermal & Spa is within a 15-minute walk of Caldeiras das Furnas and Terra Nostra Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The included breakfast was super convenient and yummy. The staff was always friendly and helpful and patient with us, 3 American women, in some ways high maintenance, who have never been to Portugal before and are unfamiliar with a lot of the local customs. The spa (treatments and pools) were everything we could have asked for, totally worth it and needed.
Cons: Looking at the spa menu, I had counted on having a pedicure but was told it wasn't offered anymore. I'd purposely skipped getting a pedicure before I left so this misrepresentation was a real disappointment.
Pros: Location, facilities, above all, service
Pros: The nicest staff and the most beautiful place. The pools were divine.
Cons: I liked it all.
Pros: Comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, excellent spa area, well equipped gym, calm environment, good breakfast, excellent restaurant for dinner
Cons: After 13:00 kids are not accepted in the Ppool area, and i guess, as long as they don't disturb anyone, this rule should be changed into kids only under adult's survey.
Pros: The location, the swimming pools, the spa (really great), the activities (golf baptism excellent and the surprise picnic amazing with great food)
Cons: The fact windows of the rooms on the ground floor can’t be opened, would be nice to add devices to hang the wet towels in the rooms
Pros: Everything was exceptional. The location was excellent. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The rooms were extremely well appointed and comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. It was a fantastic stay and would absolutely return!
Cons: There was Nothing we didn’t like. Everything was great! The rooms were not that big but extremely comfortable. We didn’t have a view but it didn’t detract from any part of our experience.
Pros: The staff was helpful and friendly. One of the staff gave us a wonderful tour of the thermals around the village. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: The color of the bathroom. The lighting makes it difficult to put on my makeup.
Pros: We had an excellent stay at Furnas. The boutique hotel is even though its size (52 rooms) very charming and cozy — excellent breakfast buffet with island fruits and typical Portuguese pastry. Friendly staff. Good Spa with two pools (hot and cold). Excellent juice and tea. All in all, to recommend.
Cons: The rooms on groundfloor should be avoided as very close to the parking and no view.
Pros: Staff is friendly and attentive. Breakfast is fantastic. Be aware the food service is slow when compare to US. However I enjoy the island experience and lay back lifestyle.
Pros: Nice spa and location.
Cons: The bed is horrible. It was so used and uncomfortable. We had to book a table for dinner in the hotel restaurant ( so strange).
Pros: Fantastic hotel nestled in the small village of Furnas. The hotel staff was amazing, quickly answering any questions we had about the hotel and surrounding area. We were even greeted by the Hotel General Manger. Make sure to eat at A Terra. You can tell they put a lot of love into what they do. Delicious food that will be missed upon return to the US. A true gem.
Pros: This was a beautiful hotel that had great amenities and an incredibly kind and helpful staff. The breakfast that is included is amazing! And the dinner there is also spectacular. The indoor / outdoor geothermal pools are incredible, as well.
Cons: I was disappointed that i wasn't able to get a spa service day-of. Apparently, you have to book those way in advance. I ended up going to a different hotel in town, but it would have been great to do it at my hotel. Perhaps keep a couple of spots open for day-of bookings for hotel guests? Also, and I think this might be a Portugal thing, but the beds are kinda hard.
Pros: Everything was very good. The scenery was spectacular from the back of the house. Parking available for our car.
Cons: A bit out of the way and kind of hard to find. Needed guidance for sure.
Pros: Amazing place, calm, big, with the beautiful view. The bonus is the owner, who took us by car to the festival, which was amazing experience!! You can have oranges from the tree. Everything was excellent!!! Really recommend this place.
Cons: Maybe the option to have a breakfast would be nice.
Pros: Our staying was awesome! lovely view, clean house and comfortable beds, full equipped kitchen, garden with delicious oranges and sweatiest dog Bengy. José and Fatima are the best of all hosts I ever met in booking places. They were friendly, kindly and very helpful, gave us many advices that improved our impressions of island. I strongly recommend this place and I would definitely stay here next time.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
Pros: Lovely location and views, fantastic oranges, and we were really made welcome.
Cons: For us, perfect.
Pros: The house is lovely, the view is beutiful. José and Fatima are very kind and helpful. We got homemade breakfast every morning. It was fantastic! It was a perfect holiday !
Pros: Beautiful spot with views across hills and to the coast. Jose is a super frienly guy so it felt like we were staying with friends. Kitchen and bathroom well equipped. Beds not very comfortable but that is the only negative. Easy to reach beautiful spots on the eastern side of the island. Loved the orchards.
Cons: Bed comfort.
Pros: Really nice and big house with a great view!! Perfect for families
Pros: Lovely informative people, beautiful setting, quiet. Nice selection of local produce for breakfast, nice relaxing stay, thanks :)
Pros: Oranges from the garden! And a large well equipped kitchen.
Pros: It is very spacious, the view is amazing and the hosts are very nice.
Cons: For us the humidity in the app. was an issue. And although the location is beautiful it is a bit far from the main #1 site and the airport.

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. For a surcharge, guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle (available 24 hours) and a cruise ship terminal shuttle.
Pros: We stayed for two nights on our tour of the entire island. The owners are very welcoming. They took time to talk to us and help us with information about the area. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! The home has an old, historic feeling to it, but everything is comfortable and nice. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the home. Parking was easy and everything is walkable!
Pros: The hotel is basic yet comfortable. Air con in the room was pretty good to have. Also the desk was nice for placing your laptop to work. Complimentary breakfast did not have many options but did the deal - specially with the delicious local bolo lêvedo. The location was perfect - in the exit of Furnas, which is quite handy for visiting the other neighborhoods. There is also a parking lot on site.
Cons: Bathroom did not have much counter space to place your toiletries. We could not use the balcony much because it faces a busy road. Breakfast could have more options (wider selection of fruit and some yogurt for example).
Pros: The location is perfect, the rooms are very clean and the staff is super helpful. I loved that our room also had a small balcony.
Pros: Good location in the centre of Furnas and with parking. we followed their recommendation and ate dinner at Tonys - great choice. Room was comfortable. Breakfast had reasonable choices. We appreciated that they allowed a single night booking.
Cons: Nothing, all was fine
Pros: Conveniently close to the main restaurants. Private parking for some cars provided behind the house. Towels for the thermal bathes can be rented.
Pros: We are returning guests and always are very pleased with our stays at Hotel Vale Verde. Family owned with very personal feel. Rooms are large, clean, beds comfortable, continental breakfast always well stocked with enough choices to get your day off to a good start.
Pros: Very clean hotel, very friendly staff, nice breakfast. We enjoyed our stay!
Pros: spacy room, nice staff, easy going, down to earth but comfortable and neat
Cons: lights beside the bed spread cold light, not cosy
Pros: Great overnight stay in Furnas - we loved having breakfast right downstairs, and the room was clean and stocked with everything we needed. Air conditioner worked great. Location was a convenient, quick walk to restaurants, thermal baths, bus stop, etc. Staff was helpful anytime we had questions!
Pros: Comfortable bed. Nice little balcony. Clean.
Cons: Room located next to some main air conditioning system or similar that went on and off thorough the night with noise and vibrations. Felt like sleeping on an rumbling refrigerator. Shower head fell down each time you turn off the water.
Located in Povoacao, Hotel do Mar is by the ocean, within a 15-minute drive of Povoacao Beach and Caldeiras das Furnas. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The breakfast was tasteful and rich, the staff was very helpful and kind, the view to the ocean was spectacular.
Cons: The air-condition during the breakfast was too strong, so we were cold a bit.
Pros: The balcony in front of the sea, and in general the hotel furniture.
Cons: There is not sunset.
Pros: room had a balcony with nice sea view, hotel has a swimming pool and jacuzzi.good location of the hotel in the small calm town.staff at the reception was nice and helpful.
Cons: it does not seem like a 4-star hotel, room and bathroom were old-fashioned,hotel needs a renovation for sure.breakfast was poor, each day the same and not very tasty.we had higher expectations based on the pictures...
Pros: breakfast good - healthy, no plastic around food. Cutlery - children sized!
Pros: The bed was very comfy and the view to the Atlantic ocean is spectacular. The city is quiet, which is very good for relaxing. The breakfast was delicious. They cleaned our room every day.
Cons: Maybe it can be more vegetables to the breakfast.
Pros: Wonderful hotel. Very comfortable room with balcony and view of the sea. Superb breakfast. Lots of local products which we really appreciated. Liked the facts that there were local products for sale also at the reception counter. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Pros: This four star hotel is located right across from the road which overlooks the sea. It has a lovely swimming pool and spa. There is also a small beach nearby and a new public swimming pool next to it. The buffet breakfast is very good and plentiful. Povoação is the starting point if one wants to drive to Nordeste, the most eastern part of the island. There are amazing look out points along the picturesque road which are perfect for a picnic.
Pros: A great location for exploring the east of the island. We’d looked at staying in Furnas but so glad we opted for here instead. It’s a lovely little town, quiet but with plenty of places to eat and a couple of supermarkets. The hotel is very clean, room was spacious and the breakfast was great. Every member of staff we spoke with was lovely.its located right on the harbour so many rooms have great views, there’s also a swimming pool and jacuzzi within the hotel.

Pros: It was clean and comfortable, the ocean view is very nice. The village is quiet, and also has not really options to go out, even for a dinner. Other villages and towns around has more possibilities, so it's better to have a car there.
Pros: Everything else was just fine.
Cons: The pillows were too tall and tough.
Pros: Perfect location, in a quiet street at the sea, out of the busy touristy areas. However, Ponta Garca is very close to the main tourist attractions, such as Furnas, Lagoa do Fogo, Lagoa do Congro or Vila Franca do Compo. Even Gorreana tea plantations, Nordeste and a perfect place to go swimming out of the crowds - Faial da Terra are within an hour drive, just as the capital Ponta Delgada. Evening relax on a large shared terrace, barbecuing in the garden, free parking place nearby, a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom are other big pluses, just as the hosts who are really friendly and helpful, speaking very good English. Highly recommend :-)
Cons: Our private bathroom was not en-suite, but located at the end of the shared hall, opposite the kitchen, which was frequently used by the other guests (the lack of privacy).
Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, Rosa Ponte offers accommodation in Furnas, 7.7 km from Ribeira Quente beach. Rooms include a TV. Every room has a private bathroom. Fumarolas is 1 km from Rosa Ponte, while Ponta Delgada Airport is 34 km from the property.
Pros: The house has a very good location, we could reach everything by foot. The host lady cleaned both bed- and bathroom every day. We got fresh towels every day. The room is comfortable for a few days.
Cons: The bathroom is separate, no connection to the bedroom, we had to take the stairs. There is no kitchen.
Pros: Nice lady, she doesn't speak English but was happy to help. Nice clean house. In the room there was heater and we could use it free of charge.
Cons: Kitchen service was not available, however host allowed us to use kettle and utensils. It was a bit damp in the room.
Pros: Great location and very nice host.
Cons: The bathroom is on the ground floor, so you have to walk downstairs which can be a bit tricky for deep sleepers like me.
Pros: Location and quite clean
Cons: Very small and dark and rooms with very thin walls, could not sleep because of the noise in the next room
Pros: A very nice clean accomodation in the center of Furnas, they let me to do check- in earlier, the bed was comfortable, there´s a nice terrace.
Cons: There´s no possibility neither to prepare a coffee or tea. A little complicated communication via phone in English.
Pros: Basic simple room, but it works for a couple of nights. We arrived super late due a delay in our flight and the property manager, lady Rosa, was able to welcome us even after check in hours. It is convenient to inform the exact time of arrival. Our room had a balcony with a great view to the valley. Super central location.
Cons: The mattress was a bit too soft (which led to back pains in the morning); there was no counter space for toiletries in the bathroom; the towels were very old and worn out.
Pros: It was in a perfect location and it was very clean.
Pros: clean, good location, good price
Cons: its more like rooms rented in private house where owners are leaving
Pros: The terrace
Cons: Everything is ok
Featuring a garden, bar, shared lounge and free WiFi, Quinta de Santana - Queimadas is set in Furnas, 3.1 km from Fumarolas and 6 km from Pico do Ferro. Built in 2011, the property is within 19 km of Plantacoes de Cha. The property is non-smoking and is located 800 metres from Parque Terra Nostra. A variety of popular activities are available in the area around the accommodation, including hiking, cycling and fishing. Speaking English, Spanish, French and Italian at the reception, staff are always at hand to help.
Pros: The location in Furnas makes it a great location to reach any part of the island quite easily (plus Furnas has two hot baths to relax after hiking all day). The room and shared living room are very cozy and makes you feel like at home. The garden surrounding the B&B allows you to feel in a remote and isolated place, which helps to disconnect while on vacations. Luis and Marco (the hosts) try to make your stay as pleasant as possible, and are very helpful. I’d highly recommend this B&B while visiting Sao Miguel.
Pros: Super friendly Owners who completely went out of their way to ensure my stay was fantastic. Fabulous garden to enjoy, lovely quiet location and they even dropped me off at the bus station at the end. Lovely modern house with great facilities. Highly recommended.
Cons: I liked everything, but without a car it was a little out of the way. This was not a big problem though.
Pros: What a lovely welcome, thank you. A nicely decorated facilities: lounge and rooms. A beautiful gardens with a picnic area. You'd require a car however it's a very short drive from Furnas town center and all restaurants, botanic gardens, caldeiras..
Pros: The owner is nice person. The garden is very nice. The room and common bathroom are big and clean.
Cons: The mattress was old, not really comfortable. The room had a bad air circulation.
Pros: Its a really comfy and adorable place with a great host which is very enthousiastic to tell you about the must visits, giving tips where to eat and what to to do. Many thanks to Luis and his family for the great stay at quinta de Santana.
Cons: Quinta de Santana is perfect for couple's or at least two people since your staying in a double room and logical wise also paying for two persons. So for a single person it might be a bit too expensive but this is common sense.
Pros: Very clean with pleasing decor in bedroom and sitting room area attractive driveway and easy parking
Cons: Very inaccurate details of location. The address given was not on any of the official town maps. Therefore took 2 hours to find. More written directions are needed. The sound proofing between the next room veranda and bedroom was no existent could hear not only conversations but even chairs squeaking. The owner on arrival when we pointed out difficulty to find the house was quite aggressive not sympathetic or helpful. Did not like having to signs a list of potential fines with regard to washing drying of clothes eating in room on arrival. Had not met this before having stayed in hundreds of properties over many years
Pros: Very nice new building with only four guest rooms. Clean, quiet, pleasant garden like grounds. Personable proprietor. The rating score if given as a range I would rate it 7.9 to 8.3. Spotless shared bathrooms but still shared by only two guest rooms.
Cons: Lack of air conditioning. No screens on windows. Shared bathroom. A few minute drive to town or 12 to 15 walk. Price may be slightly high but may be in line with others in this area, I don’t know. Poor WiFi except in small area of common room.
Pros: The property is great and well-appointed. Common areas are comfortable and the grounds are beautiful. The host is very friendly and accomodating. He gave us great recommendations for food and activities. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: It was a bit hard to find because Google Maps can't quite pinpoint the entry but we figured it out. I do not fault the owner for this. He is going to try to fix this for future guests.
Pros: We loved the beautiful garden with flowers and fruit trees.
Cons: There isn't a sign outside the building and so when you Arrive it'se hard to see the house.
Pros: Great option to stay in Furnas, we were lucky enough to be the only ones there so we enjoyed it as we were in our own home.
