9.4 Excellent (2,214 reviews)
Overview Reviews
WHY PARADOR? A parador (stopping place) is a staple of the Spanish countryside, when old castles and convents were transformed into hostelries for weary knights and travelers. Inspired by these welcoming retreats, the Dutch Schans family opened the doors of their own parador in Costa Rica in 1995. Today, Parador Resort & Spa is the only full-service resort located in Manuel Antonio. We have earned a number of prestigious awards not only for our world-class service and amenities, but also for our passionate commitment to both the environment and the community. Our range of accommodation options go from the excellent to the absolutely amazing, and our location is second to none. We offer an oasis of calm with soaring views surrounded by lush rainforest, where youll spend your Costa Rica vacation blissfully isolated from the hustle and bustle of the main drag, but just minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park, miles of white sand beaches, restaurants, the local airport and the village of Quepos. Why Parador Resort & Spa? Keep clickingwe know youll find the answer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Finally after all the Costa Rica trip we encountered the animals at the hotel perimeter and the near beach as we thought we will- Macows, Toucan, howler monkey, sloth and flocks of colorful birds. Absolutely fantastic.
Cons: Thr play room has a very strong smell of dampness and it's not pleasant. The game room is nice but needs to be renewed. Going down to the beach with the golf cart was good but going back up with 3 young kids without no one at the beach (like the driver said there wil be) that can call the hotel to send a golf cart to pick us up was bad.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Parador resort is a little way out of Manuel Antonio, along a fairly challenging road and completely self sufficient. I had hoped to see some wildlife and relax - so was delighted when on the very first evening I had a sloth sleeping soundly in the tree outside of my room and could hear Howler monkies in the trees. Some of the garden rooms are slightly basic but I was here for the wildlife I was delighted to be able to sit and watch a troop of Howlers every evening crashing through the trees by my room. The resort is beautifully appointed, very clean and with three lovely pools if you want to lounge by a pool and stare at the sky.
Cons: The Garden Rooms by the tennis courts were fairly basic with only a view of the court. This was made up for by being slightly quieter. I was woken every morning by a very loud troop of Howler monkies, which was wonderful.

Cons: They need a better work out facility.

5.7 Okay
Cons: I forgot some things at my room at check-out. I came back 2 hours later and asked for them. They told me to wait while they got them. After 1.5 hours of waiting I just couldn´t get my things back and lost 1.5 hours of my day waiting. I kept asking what happened and they always said 2 more minutes. So I ended up spending 1.5 hours of my weekend in the lobby arguing with the employees for them to tell me we can´t give you your things back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great with an awesome views and landscape. H
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Staff Room
Cons: Not very close from Espadilla, main Manuel Antonio beach, but has Biesanz Beach close by.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is truly beautiful and amazing, especially the pool. The staff was mostly nice. The breakfast, drinks, and menu offerings were all tasty, too. The tours through the hotel were great as well. Everything was reasonably priced as well considering how nice the place is. Location was a bit further than other places, but not bad.
Cons: We went for our 10 year anniversary - I wanted to make sure everything was just right. I called twice to confirm the request that our room had a king bed instead of 2 queens. Unfortunately, when we got there, the hotel had already run out of king rooms (tropical). When I first heard of this, I put a sizable bill on the counter to nicely ask about getting it right and all they told me was that we would be moved the next night (Sunday) after other guests left. I was not happy. I later found out from another employee that they had plenty of suites available, but that room was never offered to us. To make matters worse that night, the entire hotel lost water and we were not able to shower after a long day in planes and San Jose. The hotel was solely responsible for us having the only bad night of our trip. The rooms were basic and clean, but having to pack our stuff and move made us VERY unhappy. Oh, and only a couple of the tropical rooms have any ocean view at all - partial at best for those. Don't expect anything special unless you get a suite (which appeared truly wonderful)!
5.1 Okay
Pros: Staff
Cons: Many stairs to go to the Room, The First room that we saw not smell good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hotel. It had "Spanish old world charm". Our room was very nice, comfortable and clean, we had a balcony with an amazing view. The grounds of the hotel was home to lots of wild life ... three species of monkeys, a sloth, lots of birds. I recommend the early morning bird watching tour ... we saw more than birds.
Cons: Sometimes the restaurant service was slow because of the number of guests.

Pros: Top Location Friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing!! The location, the views, the rooms, the pool, and the staff. I can truly say it was the best place we stayed at in all of Costa Rica. The room we stayed in had a partial view but was still amazing and very spacious. The tours were easy to organize with the staff we did the canopy and the national park with a guide. The views and food at the restaurant were amazing. The drinks even better. The pool was easily accessible and had a bar to enjoy food and drinks. We loved this place so much and the staff were the ones that made it truly a place we would love to go back to.
Cons: Nothing this place was amazing!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was absolutely breath taking. There was nothing better than sitting by the infinity pool and sipping on some cocktails from the the pool bar. Amazing!
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Incredible views of the area especially at sunrise and sunset. Helpful and accommodating staff. Included shuttle is very helpful to get to beach and I especially appreciated how our shuttle driver brought us right to the park entrance (went a bit further on the road from the beach drop off).
Cons: Restaurant was a bit overpriced for dinner for food that was not very flavorful, however the included breakfast was excellent. Had many difficulties booking and paying through website, though was able to resolve by fax reservation.
6.8 Good
Pros: The view is incredible, the rooms/beds are comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Falafel Bar across the street had great food too.
Cons: Some of the staff were rude and came off pretentious. This is especially annoying when you're on vacation and just want to let loose. TOO MANY KIDS. They pretty much took up the entire pool, were loud and spent all day there. I didn't have a moment to enjoy it until I went after 10pm. DO NOT GO TO FRED'S next door. We stepped in for a minute to check it out and the guy immediately hollered at us from across the place that we had to spend at least $10 or we had to leave. Um bye. The Wi-Fi also went down for an entire day, for the price you pay to stay here this was unacceptable.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Close to activities & great ocean views
Cons: Beds are horrible. Old & no box springs. Seven nights was almost unbearable. Ant's in the room. Overpriced for the supposed best hotel in town.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property and excellent staff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic surrundings, the gartners are the sweetest (especially the eldest, who waves and say hi every time you see him - we are gonna miss him and his good spirit!!), and the garden is so beautiful! Good advice from the reception to the trip to the national park - and you can get a breakfast to go Lots of leguanas and butterflys, and the most luxury room I’ve ever stayed in :)
Cons: Pool and the area around could be cleaner The restaurant closed 2 hours before it should, so we didn’t get to eat the first evening The sandwich in the breakfast to go was very very dry and boring
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool area. Comfy beds
Cons: Breakfast is improvable, dinner was ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazingly clean. Staff are exceptional and obviously well trained. The room we were assigned was spacious, the bed was firm and the selection of pillows satisfied our preferences. The property, the gardens and on site trails are marvellous.
Cons: Likely everyone will comment on the road noise. It is evident but is easily overcome when you consider the amenities La Fortuna offers. Frankly I can’t imagine a place CR that will provide a completely soundproof experience.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. Location is out of town, about 5-7km from Quepos & manuel Antonio. Great if you like quietness & peace. Need a car to go wherever. resort does have a free shuttle, but it still somewhat limits your mobility. Resort has its own nature park (free to roam around) & can sell you tickets for Manuel Antonio National Park.
Cons: Food at the Lantana restaurant & the Sports Bar is terrible. This is the only major drawback of this resort
4.0 Okay
Pros: Clean rooms.
Cons: We did not get the room promised. King bed booked, got 2 doubles, food was really bad, cocktails terrible and expensive. Host showed us to our room and did not even try to help me or my wife with bags and packages. We are retired and able but it would have been nice to take the roller bag for my wife.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The workmen started at 8:30 am outside our room which is too early when on holidays They were using saws etc too loud when we mentioned it at the desk they looked shock but no apology
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff is really nice. There is a big parking area in the property. The rooms are comfortable. The bathrooms are rather modern compared to the average. Great temperature of the swimming pool. More modern hotel than average. They sell ticket for Manuel Antonio Park, which avoids the queue over there. Many towels available - fluffy and which smell good.
Cons: The worst in this property is its situation by the big road. There is no way you'll be quiet in your room, never. Trucks feel like IN your room. The breakfast is too simple for this kind of hotel, really few options, and quite a lame-looking kind of buffet. The pool doesn't seem clean. From one side underwater you can't see the other side although it's small...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely pool very nice setting
Cons: Close to main road so quite noisy at night time with trucks passing by

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Playa Espadilla in Manuel Antonio, you'll be steps from Manuel Antonio National Park and a 1-minute drive from Manuel Antonio Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room with contemporary rain shower head in the bathroom and lovely surfaces. Attractive grounds and unfailingly helpful courteous staff. Near National Park Manuel Antonio for easy walking to entrance and to the Espadilla beach without the noise of being “next door.” Good air conditioner in the room.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Beds were comfortable. Grounds were very nicely maintained Pool and restauarw noce GREAT thatbwe could buy tickets to Manuel Antonio park at our reception. Parking was very convenient.
Cons: Wifi was terrible. Had to be near reception office to get setvice. Our first breakfast was terrible. Huevos Rancheros were awful! The secomd day’s breakfast was much better.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Nice hotel in a great location. However, to unlock the door from the inside of the room, one must use a key (which can be a little tricky to use) which could be a fire or health hazard if someone has to exit the room immediately due to a fire or medical need and they either can't find the key or their spouse or roommate is out somewhere with the key. Other than that it's a nice place.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast, dinner etc. were beyond fantastic! Breakfast was a full meal with your own choice of the main dish . There were a lot of fruits and the kitchen staff was super friendly. Please try their Tres-leches - very yummy! The Wifi in the room was great. The room was also very clean. There was ample parking. It was also super close to the Manuel Antonio park - about 300 yards - so one could leave the car behind and walk. It is also possible to book tours from the hotel. We booked the boat tour to the mangrove/Damas island and it was a really good choice. They also have night tours from the hotel - a tad expensive- but one should do it if not raining.
Cons: The only thing was in my room there was no desk or chairs, so we had to bring in a couple from the patio. Also, there was no separate bolt on the door - you had to use the key every time and it was a bit inconvenient. The other thing was there was only coffee - no teabag in the room . We had to get that from the front desk. I understand all of CR are mainly coffee drinkers - but many international travelers do need their tea.
7.5 Good
Pros: Within 5 mins walk of Manuel Antonio National Park. Room was comfortable, bed was nice, bathroom a little dated but clean. Breakfast was nice. Staff were quite friendly, except for when I had laundry done and asked if it could be brought to the room and a girl of reception just said “No”.
Cons: Drinks are listed without the 23% tax so watch out for that. Pool is a lot smaller than it looks on the photos, but it’s well maintained and we had it to ourselves so didn’t mind. Area is really tacky and touristy, didn’t have a good meal whilst we were there and tried several places. Better options are up the hill in Manuel Antonio proper. This was meant to be a bit of a treat hotel, but we left feeling quite nonplussed about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful New Year party! Restaurant in the harden was really nice and food was great. The cocktails were also really good, especially during Hyde three hour happy hour
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was absolutely amazing, especially in the restaurant and bar area. Ronnie graciously helped us with several special requests, including arranging “to go” lunches for us to take fishing, and preparing our catch for dinner afterwards. He also helped us store our fish until time to leave. The hotel’s location is also excellent. The pool, restaurant and bar areas are really nice.
Cons: A bit expensive for the age of the rooms. They are beginning to renovate the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is on walking distance of NP Manuel Antonio and beach.
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance to Manuel Antonio park, private reserve for walking, nice pools, and excellent restaurant

Located in Damas, Kayak Lodge is on the waterfront, within a 15-minute drive of Mid World Tour Office and Marina Pez Vela. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great Staff! Room are big and Clean. Breakfast is good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Don Bernard and Doña Marlene are fantastic and all accommodating. The rooms are clean and the food is fresh and good. AC works goof but you have to reset it each time you get back in the room.
Cons: You've got to have a car. We depended on taxis, but they hooked us up with Michael who took us everywhere we wanted to go. With that said, we couldn't walk anywhere, there's absolutely nothing near the place other the mangrove right next door. The air conditioning goes out when the door is open and you have to turn it back on when you get back in the room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and peaceful place to avoid the crowds of Manuel Antonio. Nice breakfast with lots of fruits. Marlen and Beandon are very kind persons and gave us good recommendation for dinner and taught me spanish. I should have prolonged our stay approx by 2 weeks to be fluent
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff was super freindly
Cons: Needs improvements on cleanliness, comfort, noise level, facilities such as safe box, AC, clean pool, etc
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The Kayak Lodge is about 10‘ Car Drive from Quepos and 15‘ from Manuel Antonio. Its located right next to a beautiful Mangrove Forest and you can do a fantastic Kayak Tour there. for us it was even better than the National Park Manuel Antonio. Guide Maurillio is very experienced and know a lot about nature. we saw monkeys, birds and crabs!
Cons: the rooms are a bit dark
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The swimming pool and the personal attention from the owners. We could watch a movie on the big screen in the reception area!
Cons: Small sand flies in the area besides the mangrove.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kayak Lodge is a little off the beaten path, which I like. It is a family-run business, the best kind. When I checked in at 5pm on Tuesday, Marlene, the proprietress, was there to show the room. I asked about where to get a quick bite around Damas before heading for SJO to pick up my sister-in-law, Linda, and she offered to accompany me to a soda a couple miles away on the Coastal Highway. She is such a doll! Her nephew Juan Carlos helps with breakfast, was in San Jose but on his way back out to the lodge. Marlene got him on the phone, and he offered to pick up Linda at the airport and only charge me for the gas. I nearly said yes, but I had promised Linda that I would meet her in the airport when her plane landed. As it turns out, I got lost, and Linda had to wait for an hour before I got there. I really should have taken Carlos up on his offer! Oh, well . . . If you have a working GPS, Kayak Lodge is not hard to find at all. It will be one your most enjoyable experiences in visiting Costa Rica. I love the Ticos!
Cons: Having to leave after only a single night's stay. What, I need to say something negative to bolster my credibility? OK, the humidity was too high! Deal with it. (Like, turn on the room A/C.)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Marlene was a wonderful host! Our stay was exceptional. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was exceptional. We had a great trip.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The Kayak Lodge was a very pleasant surprise. We had to cancel our reservation at a VERY expensive resort in Manuel Antonio for logistical reasons and booked the further away Kayak Lodge for a greatly reduced cost ($150/night vs. $400/night). The room, grounds, facilities, common areas, and pool were immaculate. My daughter said that it was the first place we had stayed during the trip (and we stayed at some very fine places) where she felt comfortable walking barefoot in the room. The owner (Marlene) and her staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. When we needed a late check out, we got it. The Manuel Antonio guide Marlene arranged for us (Millia (sp?)) was the best guide we had in Costa Rica! (Millia suggested & arranged a catamaran trip for the next day that was also a LOT of fun). Although the taxi to and from Quepos was about $10 one way (and a little more for Manuel Antonio) it was readily available and what we spent on taxis was more than made up for by what we saved on the room! Breakfast is included (indeed I think Kayak is deemed to be a B&B) and Marlene and her assistants prepared a delicious spread - complete with homemade guava jam! Also included gallo pinto, watermelon, pineapple, fried plantain, eggs, toast, etc. Mangrove tour was also fun. Highly recommend the Kayak Lodge.
Cons: It was a little far from the "action" but we had dinner in Quepos at the marina both nights and don't feel like we missed much by being a little farther out!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very sweet and accommodating. She gave us a choice of any room at the time . Breakfast was good. 15 mins from Manuel Antonio park

10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and facilities completely exceeded my expectations. We were upgraded to the penthouse and enjoyed the pool area and cave bar. I loved how this hotel had so many different areas to lounge around in. The views were amazing particularly for sunset and the animal sightings were a bonus. The service from all staff was very attentive. We could have easily stayed longer.
7.5 Good
Pros: The view from our room was outstanding and the staff were very attentive.
Cons: The restaurant was very disappointing. Anything that required cooking in water had an unpleasant after taste. Steaks were beyond tough and the pre-ordering approach was like dealing with a fast food outlet. The location of this hotel is awkward. An up hill 1 km walk on an unlit very narrow road takes you to a commercial strip with restaurant choices. The parking at this hotel and throughout Manuel Antonio is extremely limited . Taxis are almost a necessity. The park is so busy that it is necessary for it to limit daily use. Joining a tour group that arrives before 7:00 am is really the only solution.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our first class stay from the moment we arrived on this lovely property. The front desk person greeted us warmly and we felt like family right away. They upgraded us without even asking and our room with the beach view was immaculate, adorable and had an amazing view. The breakfasts every morning were truly delicious, I am a vegetarian, a bit on the fussier side and the breakfast was a 10 and the portions fed me for both lunch and dinner. My husband and I would stay there next time as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful. On arrival we were greeted with a cold drink and Christophe gave us guided tour of the hotel facilities. The hotel has fantastic views over Manuel Antonio National Park. We saw white-faced monkeys, Iguanas, green parrots and Macaws from the room, which was spacious and comfortable. There was a lovely choice of food for breakfast and the quality was exceptional. We attended a drinks reception on our first evening, which was intended to promote conversation with other guests. As a result, we made some good friends we will keep in touch with. A washing machine and drier are available for guests at a nominal charge.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Really helpful and pleasant staff. The view! The swimming pool.
Cons: Parasol on terrace needs attention.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Hotel, staff, location and services
Cons: All was good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic views Great Staff will accommodate you every time
Cons: No spa on premise Parking was limited
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a small hotel so the bar, pool and restaurant were lovely and quiet all of the time. The location was great, with views over the forest to the bay beyond. There we also views into the Quepos bay from the bar. From our room we saw an amazing array of birds, including 2 different types of toucan on a tree close by. We even saw whales blowing in the bay.
Cons: The restaurant had great views, but in the evening the decor was a bit tired and the vent for the kitchen air conditioning was noisy. We only ate there the first night and ate twice in Amelio's cafe up the hill which had a great vibe, excellent food and a great view. It was also much less expensive than the hotel restaurant for much better food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone and everything was wonderful
Cons: Nothing
5.0 Okay
Pros: The size of the room
Cons: The parking was terrible. We were told there was parking. There were very few spots and they were all taken. When we asked front desk they said that was it. Taxi driver told us there is an arrangement with adjoining hotel but we weren’t told about it. We ended up waiting until someone left and our car sat there and we used taxis as ours was blocked in by others. While parked in narrow spots it got sideswiped. Fortunately we had insurance. I heard really good things about the owner so I wrote this review to help him get this parking situation rectified or at least educate staff to tell patrons they have alternative parking arrangements

Pros: The place is much better than expected considering paid price and the average of the area. Room was clean and big and with all stuff needed for a nice stay. Staff was also very helpful.
Cons: Everything was good. It has no sea or breathtaking views but they’re not selling this type of experience.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bedroom and bathroom.
Cons: The area was rerun down and dirty The accomodation entrance key didnt work so not secure or 100% safe
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The place is hidden, but when you are inside the gate everything is clean and well managed. The parking is behind a gate and very safe. We could leave our luggage as we went early to the Manuel Antonio parc, which was overcrowded but beautifull.
Cons: The neighbourhood is not stimulating
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice, clean, very calm place, good kitchen with just the kitchen-ware you need. Good air condition and warm water in the shower was nice. Good and safe car park. It was nice that they had board games outside every room - especially our son appreciated that. There is a bus stop not too far from the hotel so you can easily go to i.e. Manuel Antonio by bus. There is also a supermarket nearby.
Cons: Everything was very good. The only approvement we could think of is that the kitchen knife needs to be sharpened :) The surrounding area itself is not very attractive, but, as stated above, there is a bus stop not too far from the hotel so you can easily go to i.e. Manuel Antonio by bus.

Pros: Wonderful great place to stay, for one the location right next too park, A good way to get some exercise lose a few pounds and enjoy the beach pristine it is so lovely, love the staff Karla is so sweet and helpful
8.6 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, right by the park entrance and a 2 minute walk to the beach outside of the park and restaurants/shops. The hotel is really nice, clean and amenities were great, especially the pool with the big slide which was a big hit with the kids. Breakfast was very nice too and had a wide variety of items. The staff were all extremely nice and accommodating.
Cons: The bed was hard and sheets were awful. My daughter slept on a little bed they provided which was more of a cot with no real mattress, so quite uncomfortable. The dinner buffet had little variety although everything was really fresh.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great views, rooms with lots of space.
Cons: Run like an old big hotel, with no focus on the customer nor service details. Expensive for what you get. Breakfast was poor. An average hotel. No expresó machine. No frigobar. No shop for water, candy etc. Hot in common areas, no AC nor ceiling fans (!).
7.0 Good
Pros: Terrible wifi, i had to stand beside the door to have any access to wifi
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a deluxe room with a king bed and jacuzzi bath. It was outstanding. We could see the ocean from our balcony and the rainforest is quite literaly right next to the property. I can't say enough about how good the experience was. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if I went back. Christian, one of the hotel's concierge staff members, was especially helpful. I went on an excursion and accidentally left my credit card back at the hotel, except I needed it for the excursion. Christian exceeded my expectations by helping with the logistics by finding a workaround to avoid what would have otherwise been a big problem. As a result, I had an amazing experience. Everything else was incredible - from the swim up bar in the pool to the roof deck. I really can't say enough about it.
Cons: Everything about the property and staff consistently exceeded my expectations. I have no complaints.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is right next to the rain forest and is pretty amazing! You can see monkeys from your room. It's walking distance to the beach as well. Staff was very good as well.
Cons: The hotel did not have my reservation when I checked in. But it wasn't an issue they got me checked in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved staying here!! The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was so, so friendly. The staff members greeted us by name and we always felt welcome. The location of the hotel is superb and so close to the beach. I would definitely stay here again!
Cons: No beach view from our room, but the proximity to the beach and other key attractions more than made up for it.

Pros: The people is very very nice and they help you with everything. The food was delicious (we chose breakfast and dinner). The bus station to go to Manuel Antonio and other cities is very close.
Cons: The room is small and without AC, just a fan. If you stay one or two nights is ok. It’s not bad, but just to know, they only accept cash.

Cons: Beds could have been comfier and we would have loved a few more pillows.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast with Chip was excellent conversation and his knowledge was amazing! So were the banana pancakes and the whole breakfast. Grounds were nice, rooms were big and spacious.
Cons: Everything was a tad dated but clean and tidy. Was expecting more of a resort setting, more people and staff. In the end, the quiet low key setting was great. Shower temperature was hard to control.

Pros: The perfect combination of an amazing mission (Kids Saving The Rainforest) a caring staff, and a wide variety of rainforest animals. The landscape is spectacular. Adjacent to the KSTR animal rehabilitation center and sanctuary, the Blue Banyan property consists of villas surrounding a community area with a lobby and restaurant. The pool was serene and uncrowded. We saw wild toucans and a wild sloth. The KSTR rescue center has many animals and taking the tour is definitely worthwhile. We had the honor of volunteering for two days, and the staff made sure that the experience was memorable. Our time with Chip, Jennifer, and their staff was the highlight of our Costa Rican adventure. Note: The location is secluded; 15 minutes from the highway. 4WD isn’t needed.

9.1 Excellent
Pros: We LOVED our stay at Villa Mymosa. Our unit was huge, with a kitchen with all the utensils needed to cook meals & a full-sized fridge/freezer so we could even have ice cream. The pool was the perfect temperature & with only 10 units, it was never crowded. The staff were all friendly & helpful, but our favorite was the owner's dog, Meg. So nice to have a furry head to pet when missing our own! Villa Mymosa is set a little above town, so you feel separated from the hustle of Quepos. And the monkeys! We saw tons of capuchins, partly because the owner directed us to where they would be during breakfast. How can you complain about a place that has a morning monkey travel report? Great stay, highly recommend.
Cons: No complaints!
6.0 Good
Pros: I liked how friendly the people who worked here were, very helpful. Close to the beach.
Cons: The price was good but there were a few issues like if you flush the toilet, the shower didn't work for about 10 minutes, the toilet wasnt working properly the whole time, we had to hold the flushing part down for at least 10 seconds for it to flush properly. Out of all the electrical outlets maybe 3 plugs worked. There were lots of gaps In the window and door frames for mosquitoes, ants and other flying insects to come in. I was told I would have an oven but didnt. The blender and microwave were clearly supposed to be white but where a yellow color. If your looking for luxury this isn't the place
6.0 Good
Pros: Our room was very spacious with a full kitchen and fridge. Staff were warm and welcoming. Location was central to other hotels and restaurants.
Cons: Cleanliness needs improvement as there were ants on the countertops and dust covered the tops of the closet. Some electrical outlets also didn't work along with the one of the night lights by the bed.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, great location and terrace.
Cons: Humidity in the room.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: We saw a macaw bird in the tree outside.
Cons: The wifi access didnt work in our room, the room is very dated, one portable cooling unit produced only hot air. The double doors to the room did not provide a safe secure environment. Water pressure in the shower was pitiful and the water went to cold before the end of our short showers. Could not have an omellet at breakfast as they said there was no cheese.
6.3 Good
Pros: The reception was great and answered everything.
Cons: The service in the restaurant is very poor. Without a smile and hard to communicate. The room bathroom in a poor condition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge apartment rooms with hamoks, comfy and relaxing. The pool is a nice touch swimming in the evening. The staff are very friendly and will help you with anything you need to make your stay and trip much easier.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the small kitchen in the room as well as large fridge. Kitchen staff were fantastic! Food was great! Would highly recommend- we were there with 15 people and it was the perfect spot.
Cons: Beds were a bit uncomfortable but otherwise great space with lots of room.

Pros: Pool and hot water.
7.0 Good
Pros: The location is very good, good point to access beaches, shops and restaurants. The place is clean, with good finishes. Yesenia's attention was excellent, very friendly and always aware of our needs.
Cons: We had a setback the first night, I think it is something important to mention when someone is staying in room 19, however they resolved promptly. The toilet didn't work very well. I think the room needs a small refrigerator. The parking space is fair, it depends a lot on the good behavior of other guests parking.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was simple. Nothing fancy but clean comfortable with easy access to town and the Monteverde reserve.

Pros: The location was great and Allison was amazing!
Cons: Would be nice if there were more restrooms or showers, but that's not really an option. So, nothing really.
7.0 Good
Pros: I absolutely love Daniela at the check in! She was full of informations and great ideas. Answer all the question with a smile! Great hospitality!
Cons: - I missed the place for hanging wet clothes - the toliets and showers were not cleaned properly
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Alison is super nice and helpful! She's a passionate travel consultant and advised us where to go. Thanks to her, we found paradise!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Super clean, the family was very nice and easygoing. I didn’t like upper bed, but their design for climbing was very friendly-user and comfortable.
Cons: The bathroom/shower room was clean, no doubt about it. BUT...The cat can jump /walk on the kitchen table whenever he wants! It was extremely uncomfortable when you are eating or cooking. The table is never clean. The most annoying part is to move fast with your food while eating coz the cat can touch anything. There are two fans in the room, they can only be switch on at the same time, not separately. The light was very dime and horribly making you feel dizziness with the fan underneath.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location was a few blocks away from bus station and shops/eateries. Dorm room was okay.
Cons: No lockers, no hot water in the showers, filthy kitchen area and overflowing toilet paper bins in the toilets. None of this information is on booking site or available prior to booking a bed. No breakfast or even coffee included in the price. Common area is miniscule w/o enough chairs. With all the bars and grills, it feels like a cage inside. For the price I paid ($18 for AC dorm bed) it is WAY overpriced compared to other hostels in CR.

Pros: Everything has been perfect
Cons: The position, really close to the entrance of the National Park and the staff, super kind and helpful
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent location near national park and beaches. Older property but in good condition. Staff generally friendly and helpful. Very good, free breakfast at adjacent restaurant.
Cons: AC had difficulty keeping up with the heat in the afternoon. Adjacent restaurant where we were to be provided free breakfast was closed the last morning. Worst thing by far was that the staff offered to buy our bus ticket to the San Jose airport, and a commission was charged. That's OK, but the ticket they purchased actually took us to downtown San Jose, not the airport, so we had to waste money and time on a taxi to the airport. I asked whether the bus went to the airport twice at the time the ticket was given to me and was assured that it did.

Cons: Parasol on terrace needs attention.
