We thought the bedroom was really well decorated and well presented. It had all amenities and had been really well thought out. It was probably the most comfortable room we stayed in during our 2 week holiday in France. It was also good having a secure garage. The only think we had hoped for was to have dinner on the evening that we arrived as we did not feel much like walking too far but unfortunately, the hotel didn't have a restaurant. The barmaid suggested a sea food restaurant in the walled city which wasn't very good.
I love the design of the hotel, clean and comfortable, modern and so near to the beach, lovely view from the window..seperate toilet and bathroom...a plus....most amazing hotel i've ever stayed in, of course, st malo is a beautiful place..will definitely stay there again...
The location close to the walls of St Malo and the beautiful view when we were eventually allocated the correct room
Room was well appointed and furnished. Shower room was good. Location was good Breakfast we disappointing. Food choice was limited. Cpmplimentray champage that was offered as partvof the package was denied because the bar staff was not available and " I should have demanded it on arrival". Blame was passed to me and the hotel staff were adamant that it could not be sorted.
Wonderful shower arrangementsnand decor. The best I have ever seen in any hotel. I also admired proper reading lights well placed by the bed - very rare.
The staff were marvellous. We were allowed an early checkin from the ferry and when we were caught in snow storms they were able to be flexible with the check out too. The location was perfect for the centre of St Malo and there were excellent restuarants nearby. Everything was fantastic.
It does what it says on the tin Tea/Coffee making facilities would be nice. Garage parking is restricted and expensive
Nice place with a smashing view of the beach. Great shower! Easy walk to the wall city, with all it’s great places to eat, meant that it was not a problem the hotel did not have a restaurant. Very tight car park, although very secure if can get in! (We had a Land Rover). No opportunity to make tea or coffee in the room
I found the price too high particularly as everything had to be paid for in addition to the room price
Very helpful staff allowed us to leave our bags early in the day. Beautiful sea view. Stylish room/bathroom. Fantastic position by the beach but only a short walk into town.
The quality of the decor
We had a very pleasant 4 day stay in September at this hotel. The hotel is situated in a very nice and calm area. The owner & staff were all very friendly and helpful. The fact that the hotel has no restaurant of its own is absolutely no problem. There are quite a few restaurants in the very near vicinity, approximately 5 – 10 minutes by car. The owner gave us upon arrival a comprehensive pack with all kinds of restaurants and map. If you like seafood you must try Brasserie du Silon, excellent and a very nice ambiance and service indeed (was recommended by the owner) The hotel does serve breakfast and also has a nice bar. Rooms were clean and well taken care off. Finding parking space during the day and in the evening was no problem. The hotel has it own private space, and in the street in front there was always place available (at least when we were there). We initially were looking for a hotel inside the old town, being in St Malo for the first time, but were ever so happy that we diverted to La Villefromoy – excellent choice!
Modern boutique styling within gorgeous french building - just a minute from the sea...great. Not publicised but a bonus for all returning home or stopping on the way to their main destination a secure carpark. PS Tortoise in the garden great for the little ones. No restaurant which means continental breakfast bit of a shame given the smells wafting in on the morning breeze from the neighbouring properties, but a good selection and reasonably priced compared to UK equivalents.
Comfortable clean and welcoming hotel in beautiful building just yards from sea front and a 30 min wallk into the old town. excellent base for a "ferry stop." No negatives
Very friendly and efficient staff, comfortable room, good location in quiet part of city (but some distance from the centre, about 2 miles along the sea front)
Everything was fantastic! The small but lovely hotel was so comfortable and clean, well designed, well cared. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The ocean view was great from our bedroom. It was so quiet at night that we could sleep very well with the sound of sea. The beautiful view of stars from the balcony was unforgettable! The breakfast was simple, but very delicious. We enjoyed their crispy baguette every morning. It was so nice hotel that we finally extended our stay. Love to come back there again in near the future...
The Villefromoy is a very well presented small hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities excellent, especially the bar area which was welcoming and thoughtfully decorated. Potential guests should know that the hotel is 35 minutes walk from the old town of St Malo. We felt that the price of drinks in the bar was excessive - a single whisky, a Baileys and a coke cost 18 euros. We had wondered why such an attractive bar area would be deserted...
the staff and the room I would like breakfast included
Very modern, spotlessly clean, and with room and bathroom finished to very high standards. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the sandy beach promenade and our room had a good sea view. The breakfast was also very good (ours included in price) ... Rooms are a bit expensive (we paid €135 per night for a sea side double room). The Hotel is not situated directly on the sandy beach promenade .... so the sea view is not completely unobstructed. It's about 30 mins walk to the Saint-Malo city centre, although more than half of the walk is along the traffic-free sandy beach promenade, which in fact made quite a wonderful walk.
A modern hotel with up to date furnishings and fittings right on the sea front and close to the harbour and old town. No
room with a view to english channel - walking down boardwalk to city. had twin beds instead of a double - ensure to clarify
Helpful staff and lovely sea view. no
This hotel was very clean with standard decor. The walk to the walled town was about 15-20 minutes. It had a very nice water view.
freindly helpful staff - BBC on the TV
Getting a room at 4th floor at seaside (paying more), we had a wonderfull room with a nice view. We had a fine indoor Parking. The room was excellent and the breakfast very good. We would deffinetly stay there again The price was a bit hight, but we had value for money.
The location to both the beach and the walled city no tea/coffee facilities in the room
Ease of use Breakfast was a bit chaotic
Location was excellent, right on the beach. Ocean view room was fine.
Sea-view - although it is necessary to pay a premium for this. Pleasant staff, spotless hotel.
Wow we can not say enough on how splendid this hotel and all the staff are. Our only mistake was eating in a top restarant, we will eat in the splender of this hotel next time
The view. Not enough staff on duty - was kept waiting 15 minutes for check in. Our room too close to the kitchen which was noisy until almost midnight.
hotel staff very nice but would probably not go there unless we took advantage of their spa packages as everyone there were in robes during breakfast and the smell of the pools and therapy were very noticable in our hallway and room. above
Good location. Large bedroom A large part of the hotel has not been restored - facilities are in a very bad state for an hotel of this class. The thermes/thalasso area is not what you can expect from a spa. No attention for international guests (e.g. only French newspaper)
We liked the excellent cuisine and service at the CapHorn restaurant, but the service at "The Terrace" was a disaster. We liked the reception area, very comfortable to wait for your room to be ready, and the fact that you are right on the beach. We did not like the view from our room (actually no view at all except a big terrace) and the noise coming from the kitchens. Did they give us this room because it was at a discount price ? And also we had a rough woollen blanket on our bed instead of a soft comforter. But what we did not like at all was the sight of people in bathroom robes everywhere else than in the spa : at breakfast, in the lounge, etc... at all times of the day.
the cap horn restaurant, excellent helpful staff, the proximity to the sea and the surrounding architectural context the lack of a good hotel service pack/ guide in english that detailed all of the hotels facilities and opening hours, the hotel ambience feels a bit dated
Food in the restaurant was good
Very nice room Not very good information available about the hotels many faculties and how best you can use them
Everything! The location on the beach was fantastic, everything about the hotel itself was very, very nice and the food was excellent.
located on the first line of a wonderful beach magnificent swimming pools
Very good location. Right on the beach. Very clean, pleasant, helpful staff. Will stay there again/
Helpful, friendly & multi lingual staff. Being able to sit on the terrace, take a drink and see your kids playing on the beach all at the same time. The kids particularly enjoyed the hand painted boat scenes on the corridor doors. China cups in bedrooms would make hot drinks easier to manage than plastic ones - not very environmentally friendly either. The corridor carpets required sunglasses to look at - but we could live with that.
The site in front of the beach
The view from our window was beautiful. The location was near to the walled city, but not close enough to walk to.
fantastic view right on the beach everything spotless friendly staff coffee/tea biscuits in room nice walk into town along beachside about 20 minutes to st malo old town room was a little small
just to have the choice beetween shower or bath
the breakfast is great!
Very nice and pleasant hotel with helpful staff.
Access to room, rushed for us as we arrived early
The location was first class. Breakfast very reasonable price and plenty of restaraunts close by. There was no hot water first thing in the morning (07.30) and took awhile to become available (08.40)
The location was perfect, we had close access to all the bars and cafes as well as the bus stop for going further afield. The reception staff could have been nicer but it think that may have been the language barrier, can speak some French but not fluent.
Great bar and location Bathroom layout is dated and could be improved
Upgraded to a very large room. Very nice Perfectly clean, but will need modernising soon and a lick of paint here and there.
The fact that after driving 3,000 miles in 8 days thr staff and accomodation were exactly as we needed, and also after making a mistake in the booking date ,it was changed without any fuss. Thank you. Lack of parking at the time we arrived due to having a larger vehicle ( Mini Bus ) This was rectified in the Paid parking behind the Hotel the following morning.
The location is very good, and it is quiet. Our tiny room was nominally a double, but had space for only one bedside table and one chair. There were only 2 shallow drawers for clothes and only 4 coat/dress hangers. The hotel was unable to provide more hangers.
Best Location i.e. near old city and near (super modern) underground station, which takes us to the railway station easily. Good shopping possibility around the hotel.
people are kind and the room is clean. Especially that the location is great. we would like to live in it next time we go there. The wall is a little thinner, so the defense of noise is not so good.
it was in the centre of the town. we were given a suite for the price of a double room!
I liked to Viberace and atmosphere in and around the hotel, the staff were very helpful. The deal was very resonable. The lift is a bit strange, the decor and carpet looked a little tired.
Good location to visit the old town and ferry port Poor parking facilities
close to water, short walk to the old part of town, good size room with updated bath
Pleasant and helpful staff. Good room with adequate space anmd comfortable beds. Thin walls let us hear the visiting Essex Biker swearing club quite clearly. No hotel parking means that you have to search around the local streeets.
We had a terrific time. The room was comfortable and in a great location. The most pleasant aspect was the staff, who were friendlier and more helpful than expected.
We all enjoyed our stay. The staff on the desk were excellent * the room was magnificent. I would stay at again if I had the chance.
Enjoyable atmosphere, quite room, overlooking the sea, great location for walking into the old town. Heavily booked, we had the two attic rooms which disappointed at first as there were only velux windows, frustrating for toddler, but the room was large and the view when standing and the roar of the sea were great. Hotel offered to move us on second day, but we would have had rooms on different floors, not ideal with second room was for teenage daughers.
very helpful clean environment no
Not too far from the ferry port Fairly limited restaurant possibilities on site
Everything about the hotel made our stay excellent.
Staff very friendly and most helpfull. Mattress could be more comfortable
a great relaxing hotel with great gardens and pool
This is well run and well maintained hotel. The staff are very helpful and I would certainly return there.
the comfortable beds+helpful staff. But avoid bank holiday weekends as parking in the town is horrendous.Beaches lovely & clean plenty of space
Nearness to sea
Indoor swimming pool. Restaurant excellent. No tea/coffee making facility in the room but this was France!
General ambience. Swimming pool excellent.
friendly helpful staff and good atmosphere
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was a good size and very comfortable. Flat screen TV with BBC 1 and Channel 4 reception. Swimming pool nice and warm and big enough for a prpoer swim. Nice gardens to relax in. The breakfast was expensive. It was quite a long walk to the old townof St Malo.
A warm welcome, with very comfortable accommodation. Staff genuinely pleased to help and with good sense of humour.
We bookd a Superior Double and a Superior Twin Room and had written confirmation of this. However we were given 2 Superior Twin Rooms
friendly staff, great location with a lovley sea veiw clean and well maintained room
looked great felt relaxing fabulous atmosphere
The setting in the walled city, lovely room and gorgeous bathroom, close to lift (I walk with some difficulty), excellent breakfast, being able to prebook garage space for the car. They responded to my explanations by giving us a suitable room. The bed was too short for my 6'3" husband and not a divan, so he hit his toe a few times - but it was hardly their fault! I had to phone to confirm garage reservation and room with shower, not bathtub - would have appreciated an e-mail, but it was all ok.
Good value for money dinner Directions to the hotel were useless & parking was difficult due to roadworks.
location and views are stunning in a beautiful historical building
the location was the best feature. misleading abut the parking situation and availability of internet
Staff helpful. Bedroom rather basic. No water or tea facilities, bathroom lighting poor,
It was quiet, relaxed, very comfortable and a great price
outstanding value for money and in a very central position near both the beach and in center of the walled city, the room was very modern
Loved the location with a view out of my window to the sea. Charming exterior with courtyard and comfortable lobby.
Fantastic location. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely bathroom. Nice large room.
Good central location. Calm atmosphere. Welcoming, friendly staff.
Charming style, located right inside the walled city, easy access to everything. Homely atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff, lovely breakfast.
The bathroom was lovely, new and clean. The continental breakfast was also very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On our last day staff asked if we wanted to order a taxi from the hotel. We had already decided that we wanted to go to Dinard by bus as it was going to be cheaper to get a taxi from there to the airport. The lady in the hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up from a location in Dinard which was very much appreciated as when we went to Dinard we did not see a single taxi in sight. The lights on the corridor did not come on automatically with movement. It was difficult to find the lights the first time.
All the Staff very helpfull and warm, location is ideal for both shops and cafe's. Hotel is modern with nice classical features - very French.
Bathroom at the room quite old. This is the only disadvantage for us
Excellent location within the walls of St Malo with plenty of shops, bars & restaurants within walking distance.
best located, exquisite furniture, nice and welcome staff. There is a useful little fridge in the room.
The location of the hotel in the old city, everything in walking distance from good restaurants to the beach. Hotel parking was difficult unless you had booked in advance and garages are tight. The one way streets make it hard to locate the hotel unless you have a good map or Sat Nav/GPS. Very small showers, small but fairly comfortable rooms.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently situated for the range of sight seeing we had planned. The hotel was very much on an industrial estate with noisy lorries leaving early in the morning. There were no tea making facilities and having been woken early by the lorries I would like to have been able to make tea.
Cleanliness of room. Traffic noise. Location on trading estate.
Because the hotel was out of the centre the restaurant was very welcome. Very accommodating when we said we were arriving late.
good foir overnight stay
The public rooms were bright and clean, surprised to learn it was a long-established hotel, it appeared to be quite new. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food good.. Having disembarked from the Jersey ferry at 1935, it was after driving around trying to find the place that I returned to the ferry terminal to seek assistance. The duty staff had no idea of the hotel location, but with the help of the internet and a town map, we did eventually find it after 10 miles and an hour later.
Peace and tranquility That there are no Tea/Coffee facilities in the room
Friendly, convient and reasonably priced hotel. No hair drying facility in bedroom.
Convenient. Happy to provide free coffee in morning even though we did not have breakfast.
compact and efficient; just right for a stop-off en route. Good dinner well priced. Room small but practical. Badly marked access from main-road and within shopping park.
Conveniently situated for Cross Channel Ferries Lack of rooms with baths
Good location, very good reception and on site car park our 'premier' room was very basic and the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guest
Staff were very accommodating regarding late check-in, parking, late breakfast.
Hotel staff were excellent, friendly, couteous, and really helpful. The hotel is ideally located, right in the centre of St.Malo. I will definately return to this hotel. Excellent value for money. Nothing at all.
it was right in the middle of the St Malo We could have picked a better loctation Hard to get parking ,
As described in previous reviews. Clean, well positioned and helpful staff Did not have breakfast in Hotel given that it seemed expensive and there are lots of places within in very easy reach.
Although we arrived very late (gone midnight) due to boat, we were given a pleasant welcome. We feel that the breakfasts are a little over-priced
The location of the hotel was perfect for discovering the old town. The room was clean and good. Staff very helpful. I didn't try the breakfast in the hotel. Thought it was expensive and I decided to have some crepes in a Cafe close to the hotel. It was a little bit difficult to find the hotel.
staff very friendly and helpful none
breakfasts were excellent value
our first adventure in a Castle - Chateau type hotel
landascape, polite & helpful manager, breakfast nothing wrong
Friendly staff and owners clearly have a passion for what they own and ensuring guests have a wonderful stay. They have done wonders with the chateau in a very short time and have chosen fixtures and fittings carefully to keep in period. A very relaxing and interesting place in which to stay away from the hustle and bustle of St Malo city.
We were greeted politely and although the receptionist didn't speak much Enlish and we didn't speak much French it didn't present too much of a problem. The room was well presented and comfortable. It was a shame that dinner was not available nor a proper shower.
Very warm welcome, nice ambiance.
the living-room, the garden, the dog - Caesar the internet connection - absent
Superb Rooms. Renovated Chateau only recently opened, but friendly and welcoming Owners and staff. Quiet situation, but beautiful grounds. Very impressive interior and good French breakfast. Close to St Malo giving easy access by car, but set in peaceful countryside, away from the busy town. Not easy to find initially. Could do with better signs, particularly at night.
The lady of the house was quite pleasant but did not speak any English. The owner informed us that there was only herself there and that she lived close by. If we required her after check-in, we were to ring a mobile number to contact her. We were to lock up on our return from our evening meal and for the E150 charge, I thought that this was ridiculous. The front of the hotel with various unfinished and untidy cottages was not welcoming and untidy. The place seemed deserted and I would not class it as a hotel.
rooms spacious, standard equipment, quiet&peaceful ,landlady&landlord helpful and cheerfull, breakfirst standard, all in all pleasant hotel difficult access particular at night time
The lovely sea view from both the breakfast room and the bedroom.
The staff was amazing and most helpful
the friendly people and its location on the beach the breakfast poor choice for the price
It is a small friendly hotel with beautiful views of the sea and direct access to the promenade. It is in an excellent location - 10 minutes walk along the seafront to the old city of St Malo. We would definitely stay there again. There are no tea or coffee making facilities.
The hotel was good. I was staying in "family room". Honestly speaking it is reworked garage. The WC and bathroom are on different levels. You have to walk a distance to clean hands after the WC. My daughter is very sencitive to dust ( dust allegry) she was caughing in the night. All the rest was nice. Good location, good breakfast. Less price for kids breakfast. No
Great location, very helpful owners and staff, very personal service - a terrific experience all around! I was late booking and so was on the street side - but I didn't go to spend time in my room! I'll definitely book ahead next time and be on the beach side. Great closet space and well equipped bath.
The woman who ran the breakfast was extremely nice and informative about the area. She is a big plus to the hotel.
because the weather was rather cool, we enjoyed the walk to the city center--- the staff was very unpleasant---our room was on the first floor on a very busy street---and there was a street light right ourside our window which looked right on to the bed---curtains were not good enough to keep the light out---when I spoke to the two women at the front desk I was told that was the booking.com room---very inexpensive---and that there were no other rooms available in the hotel---I said that my husband and I would stay there that night, but for our second night in St. Malo, we may need to look for another hotel with a more suitable room----then I was told that "the police in St Malo do not look kingly on people skipping out on their rooms"----I was shocked by that statement-----my husband and I decided not to spend our val
Great Hotel, fresh, clean and very friendly, right on the beach fab
While the hotel is beachfront, the arrival is on a fairly busy road with cars parked. The owner very kindly moved his car so that we might park, and we left our car in place for the duration of our stay (an easy walk into the town centre). Hotel very quiet at night, no city noise. Beautiful views over the sea and a 10-second walk onto to the beach. Our room had a bay window, and a terrace, and was most pleasant to sit and enjoy the views (sun in the morning, sun in the afternoon and evening; fabulous sunsets). We had upgraded to a room that had a larger bed, and this was very comfortable, even though it reduced the space in the room. It goes with the territory - but the room we had was on the ground floor, so passers-by (there are a lot of them) were just the other side of the wall of our terrace, privacy was less than I would have liked. Also, given the ground floor, we didn't sleep with the door to the terrace open, so missed the lulling sound of the sea at night. If we had had the same room but one floor up, it would have been perfect.
The situation of the hotel and room meant a great view of the beach. It was also within easy walking distance of the town, with many restaurants and bars. The room was nicely decorated and furnished and very clean. It was also nice to eat a good breakfast in the tea room overlooking the beach. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
location at sea and nearby intra-muros.
Very friendly hotel staff and excellent location!
The website suggested al rooms were sea facing - not the case . The bedroom smelt very badly of stale cigarette smoke
Good clean room. Very helpful lady in the restaurant who spoke good english. Owner on front desk spoke no english and it was pretty difficult if not impossible to communicate if it had not been for the lady in the resturant only on duty for a few hours a day. I booked this hotel as it said they had wireless broadband but there was nothing and apparentlt it had not been working for three months. This was very inconvenient and caused me problems.
