the building was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and charming. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent Our room. We unfortunately were given room number 7, which was dark as it overlooked a cliff face at the back of the hotel. I feel we should have been made aware of this as I would have then changed our holiday dates. The room should have carried a greater discount as it was quite depressing.
friendly staff lovely setting lack of lift
beautiful old house in quiet fishing village no
Very good staff, very good food, very great stay The taps wasn't mixed taps and it was difficult to find water neither burning nor frozen
We like the quiet and secluded location of the hotel close to the bay at St Rozel. The hotel is clean and comfortable with excellent rooms; the bathrooms are well supplied as are tea and coffee making facilities along with a supply of fresh fruit. The staff are polite and attentive and clearly know exactly how to look after their guests. This is our second visit and won't be the last Er, none that I can think of apart from the rate at which we put on weight as a result of the excellent food available.
Very comfortable hotel, well situated. We had awful wine with our gourmet meal - screwtop so not corked, but virtually undrinkable - shouldn't happen in a reputable hotel (or at their prices).
great service, nothing too much trouble its perfect
Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff - they were excellent. It is a lovely old Victorian house with excellent rooms but not much of a view (apart from beautiful trees) as it is in a rift valley. But it has peace and quiet in abundance, and this is what we went for. It is also well situated to get to any part of the island but you do need a car. Because it is a Victorian house, the rooms and bathrooms are a good size but there are lots of stairs (26 from the car park up to the hotel and 21 from reception to our room). I found it very difficult at times because I have limited mobility. There is no lift to help move luggage or to help with stairs. Also, the shower in our bathroom had a fixed screen which, with artificial knees and hips and therefore difficulty in bending them beyond 90 degrees, caused me a problem. There was little room to get in and out of the bath to shower. We had a lovely time but I would have enjoyed feeling a little cleaner!!
Friendly, very comfortable, excellent food and service.
Friendly staff and good quality food. Fussy wine service - didn't leave bottle so you could serve yourself but then failed to top up glasses.
All staff were very helpful during our stay and very accommodating. The food was very good. Room very comfortable with very good facilities. Not having a sea view!
good parking, friendly staff,
The hoel staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help - they appeared to really enjoy their emplyment. Everything was fine - one of the best htoel stays I've had for a long while
The staff at the Grand Jersey were exceptional. Throughout our stay I can say we did not have one complaint during our week. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until the time that we left. The food was lovely, breakfast service was wonderful and room service was a real treat! The Spa was fully booked quite often and it was very difficult to book treatments, however this is merely because the Spa is very good and it only reminded us to book in advance next time!
Good central location in st.Hellier Modernisation has not yet been completed
The leisure facilities
Good central position, even with alterations taking place the hotel did very well to not let this effect our experience and enjoyment. i felt the staff serving on the were not aware of who was being attended to, a lot of people were trrying to get their attention , myself having to wait over 10minutes to place food orders and drinks.
The sea view room was well worth the extra money. Good food and attentive service. The loud music in the bar where we were going to eat but decided against this. And went out instead.
The bathroom was stunning.
I enjoyed using the spa facilities, and the food was excellent.
Friendlyness and very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble to make our stay comfortable Had to ask for the items mentioned in welcome pack as were not ready in accomadtion, eg , hair dryer, phone . Also towels were very worn out eg large holes in one or two and frayed
Large comfortable bed, clean bedroom and public areas, fried breakfast was well cooked and presented. Staff not proffessionally dressed some building leaks were clearly evident when rained. Cold buffete choice limited, Bathroom and some internal ares dated.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and airy with comfy beds and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were a real treat and great to relax in- we had them completely to ourselves! The hotel is just across the road from the beach and is about a mile from the centre of St Helier. On the evening we stayed in, the hotel bar lacked atmosphere with football on the television and the bar food was very basic (the fresh beer battered fish had obviously been frozen), however we did visit out of season and the restaurant was closed.
Clean room and comfortable beds Good and varied breakfast and quick service Having just returned home I discovered that I had left a valuable ring in my room, after inquiring about it, I have received a call to say it has been found and will be sent on. I am delighted! Small rooms Lots of little stairs, a bit of a warren
it was very good value for money at £29.00 B&B for a double room, however at that price it is a gamble, breakfast was fine, but not a gormet exprience, poached eggs cooked well and the hot breakfast was cooked to "order" - not under arc lights The shower was tempremental, either a faulty regulator or distantance from the boiler, hot water always came, eventually... First time took 5 mins, In asking for another room then I learnt half the hotel has been refurbished and half hasnt, we rejected the other two rooms offered (stained filthy carpets as opposed to wood laminate flooring) and perservered with the shower
Hotel was good for bed and breakfast, rooms clean and a good bar. Only problem was the lack of packing space,
The breakfast was very good. The Hotel room was very very tired and old.
very easy & central for exploring island. room we had was very cold in the evening, heating in room failed.
kindness and helpfulness of staff
Lovely hotel, pleasant staff, excellent rooms, food superb in the Montana Restaurant, nice cosy lounge and bar
The convenience of being near to St Helier and also a good setting off point to other parts of the island.
The bar area and breakfast were very good with the staff very helpful and the bonus of friday jazz night. The noise from the saturday night party [wedding] in our room was very annoying.
Staff were helpful, but communication could be difficult as English was not their first language.
Staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble
Well run hotel that enabled us to have a relaxed break in Jersey
Friendliness of staff
Very friendly staff. Good customer service. High standard accomodation.
the spa and pool facilities. the quality of the buffet
Friendly, helpful staff and good, comfortable facilities. I would have liked an easy chair / setee in my room.
Friendly TV Reception
The spa Restaurants rather expensive
A building of character well maintained Not the comfiest bed
my wife and i enjoyed are stay at the hotel, very nice clean comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. i read a couple of reviews about the hotel before booking and they seemed a bit disappointed with the hotel but personally we did enjoy are stay and would definitely come back.
breakfast was brill and the reception staff were very helpful trying to get me to were i wanted I thought the food at night time was a bit exspensive
very friendly staff, they made me feel very welcome. I had a single room and i have never had such a small room for the money. i plan to look at alternative hotels for my next visit.
I liked the location (being close to both the harbour, st. helier and the bus station). I wouldn't really recommend it for a long stay with children, as the pool was quite small and not really aimed at children. The Merton Hotel is where we usually stay (when travelling with the children) and that is fantastic for them. However, for adults only the Radisson and The Royal Yacht are both fantastic for a stay in Jersey. The rooms are excellent and beds very comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful too. The mini bar only had two bottles of water in it. That's about it really!
all the staff were polite and nothing was too much trouble. the food was excellent. the standard room we had was 1st class. well done it would have been nice to have had a nice draft hand pull beer as an option in the bar.
Staff extremely helful Didn't like having to wait to be seated for breakfast, especially out of season
The view of the harbour was excellent both from our room and the bar area. The scrambled egg on the breakfast buffet looked as if it was composed of chopped up boiled eggs from the previous day.
Nice quiet and relaxing hotel where you could chillout
Lovely room, great ocean view, freindly staff at spa, good bar area, Very average breakfast, staff on reception and in dining room not very freindly or helpful, waiting room for spa area felt like a dentist's surgery, treatment rooms very claustrophobic
The location was perfect, the cleaniless was excellent. The breakfast was first class with plenty of choice. My partner and I would gladly visit again. We liked it all!!
Excellent food, well served. The heating/air conditioning system, which was difficult to control, leading to disturbed sleep.
The view overlooking the harbour and the buffet breakfast. The sauna and steam room were an added welcome after a days' walking The smell of fish in the evening as you enter the lobby. This was every evening and not very pleasant
The hotel is located in an excellent central position with very helpful and friendly staff. The city certre is a walk away as is the ferry port. We had a wonderful stay.
Very pleasant and efficient staff, on arrival, excellent room very clean and spacious, food was excellent again served by pleasant and efficent staff. Kept awake most of the night by party goers outside, two sets of double glazing did nothing the dull the noise and we were on the fifth floor.
Very helpful staff and the location was excellent small room and bathroom
It has a great sense of history, individual style, attention to detail, and the guests comfort comes first.
Staff everywhere in the hotel were better than first class. Reception was fast and helpful when needed. Patrick in the bar was low key but effective, efficient, with a great timing for the next round. Finally, serving staff for breakfast could not have been better. Narrow bath and a light-weight shower curtain means that anyone taking a shower finds themselves trying to hold the shower curtain at a distance and work the shampoo with one hand. Rust points at the top of the bath safety bar made it look fragile. Room 305 is rather tiny to be classed as "Executive". In Europe it would be an ordinary room at around 90 Euros per night (but without the Pomme d'Or top-class breakfast).
Location of hotel is good. Choice of restaurants and food.
The common areas, cuisine and location. The shower was inadequate, the bath took ages to fill and there was no mirror suitable for short-sighted people.
Just what i have said here. Clean, high quality and very friendly. Our company uses it all the time and I can see why.
The comfort of the room and high quality of food presented at breakfast and evening buffets
It was a one night stay for business. Ideal. The car alarm that went of at 0300 and kept going off!!
Our room was clean and well equipped and inviting to return to after a busy day. The situation of the hotel was perfect for our requirements ie closeness to shops yet very peaceful in rooms. Staff very helpful and obliging. Didn't like restricted times for using pool, not that we used it but we might have done if we could have used it at any time - if we had booked a spa treatment, we could have used it any time on that day.
the staff was extremely friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable booking a spa hotel i expect to be able to use the spa, but this is only open to guests 8-10am during breakfast and 6-8pm when you would like to get ready to eat. unless you book a treatment then you can use through the day. could not eat in the hotel at all restaurants was either closed or booked , but no advice on booking the hotel to make sure this is booked prior to arrivals
The spa was wonderful. The manager has a somewhat snotty attitude when checking out. I was asked twice if I had taken anything from the fridge.
Very good hotel, service and staff great and in a good location.
freebies + use of spa, excellent hotel facilities everything was great
There was a very friendly and tranquil atmosphere. Most relaxing
All staff on reception were more than helpfull didn't like the view out of our window
The Food, The Honesty Bar the Staff..all good
the fact you were made to feel so elcome and nothing was too much trouble but with out being hassled.
Attention to customer needs
Breakfasts were very good No atmoshere in dining room for evening meal, and compared to breakfast , dinner was very poor
Efficiency and helpfulness of the staff, indoor pool and jacuzzi, set menu for evening meal was value for money and well presented. On departure the room across from ours was being cleaned, we were surprised at how big this room was compared to ours
The hotel was in a good location, the breakfast was very good, the staff freindly, The room could have been cleaner
excellent value for money breakfast was very good had everything you needed, was hot and presented very well the sauna had been closed and i stayed at the apollo last year and was not informed of this change but only a miner hitch didnt spoil my stay
the rooms need updating and revamping
Staff were friendly and helpful Single room was very small and I had to change to a double
Ideal for our trip which was to attend a ruby game and my first visit to Jersey.
big bed in single room and swimming pools
Excellent priced package Room a little dated and in need of refurbishment - pink bathroom suite!
Very accommodating staff with indoor swimming pool
Rooms tidy well appointed and clean
Excellent service wonderful swimming pool and great tennis court.
- Quality to bedroom and bathroom - Little things like our name on the brochure when we arrived, the bottles of champagne and water waiting for us, the attention to details! One of the best experience I had in a hotel of this category. The battery of the remote control was dead.
The staff made you feel very welcome and catered for all your needs. The food was excellent even for vegetarians! Our Dogs were treated as guests which is a nice change!
Staff were fantastic - courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Even got a room upgrade without asking! Room was fantastic - didn't want to leave it!!! Food was great too. Shame I was there for business but would definitely recommend to anybody who'd like a romantic/relaxing getaway! Will definitely return!!! Cost if you book directly seemed much higher than booking via this website.
Spacious rooms, gourmet food, gardens, pool and unobtrusive staff
The service. The staff was realy willing to help They should be able to speak more fluent english
The food and service was exceptional. very relaxing and restfull Would have liked coffee and tea making in rooms did not have a shower only a bath
The politeness of all the staff members.
Toured the island of Jersey.
very comfortable bed and good breakfast close to opera house for concert.
THe staff wre extremely welcoming, hotel had a real presence about it with a great selection of bars and restaurants
the staff are all very friendly not baby friendly
Staff approach to customers fantastic, customer service very high nothing too much bother. Its nice to see staff smile.
The staff were exceptional. Friendly, Helpful, always at hand to help with any ideas of how best to enjoy your stay. In comparision to other establistments in the imediate area the menu in the Zephur bar was not great and not good value, which put us off eating in any of the other bar/resturaunt in the hotel.
Staff extremely accomodating. Room very comforterable. Location excellent. Food and dining and facilitiites good. Quick response to any of our needs.
Accessability. helpfulness of reception staff and porters. Cheerfulness of restaurant staff especially when under pressure. Accommodation charges particularly those applying to premier rooms are on the high side.
food was very good need much better coffee in the rooms, forget fair trade try quality
Staff was excellent at all levels. Noise from karioke pub in square for room with harbour view.
The accommodation was clean and very comfortable staff were friendly staff in dining room were very efficient
the atmosphere was one of welcome, and although I am single I liked the fact that it was very much family orentated. the staff could not do enough for you.
I thought the reception staff were helpful and the hotel has just recently been decorated and is now very modern. The cocktail bar prices were the same as the local pubs and i was expecting it to be more. We did not get a chance to visit the pool but from what we saw it is a shame we didn't make the time. The location was excellent and near all the shops, beaches and pubs. I could not fault the housekeeping they were great. Apart from the breakfast it should be a 3 star not a 2 star. The breakfast was terrible. We were given one sausage, one slice of bacon, fried egg, some mushrooms and a tomatoe. Not enough for me but maybe for a 5 year old. The service was slow for it not being busy as it had just opened its doors at 8 am, we were finaly seen to after 15 minutes. It will not stop me from advising friends and family to visit the Mayfair.
Pleasant surroundings, convenient for exploring the area and within walking distance of centre of town.
the facilities and the location were excellent...and value for money Breakfast service was very poor; asked on 2 days to share table with other guests - whilst there were plenty of clean tables available; no courtesy in asking us or the couple we were to share with...annoyed us quite a lot when the head waiter would not even listen..should have complained and would have done if staying more than 3 days. He actually spoilt the start to the day.
Freedom and security of no crime and it location Breakfast: no choice for vegeterian, tea cold, no brown bread orange juice watered down.
Food excellent Beds - springs on bed were so warn I could feel every spring, and was only a 4ft 6 in bed (partner over 6 ft., so the bed too small). Had to sleep on the floor the first night because of the bed springs. When complained they moved us to another room. Rooms very dated, and tired, and overheated without air conditioning were stifling.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall the hotel was very quiet.
Location. Lack of air conditioning, poor sound proofing, hotel has seen it's best years, breakfast was modest at best, parking places were small and almost always occupied.
Staff were wonderful. Food was also very good. Lovely stay.
The total efficiency of the staff
Everything about our stay at the Somerville Hotel was very nice and we thoroughly recommend the hotel.
The dinners were excellent, the staff very helpful and the sitting rooms welcoming. However, the above reference to offensive language is itself, offensive. The absence of a service charge - I find the request for gratuities rather embarrassing.
A warm welcome....and comfort in all areas of the hotel. A great location and would certainly return.
The views from the hotel are spectacular and close to restaurants
Service was generally good Breakfast service was erratic, depending on where we sat. Some tables seem to fall in 'no-man's land' between teams of waiters. Breakfasts get left under the warming lamps, rather than delivered to the table.
excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff and very good menu.
The Hotel is stunning, and has views across the bay, the food was first class and silver service to match, but be aware that there is a steep hill up to the hotel from the harbour and limited parking available in the town, the hotel does have ample parking and on a wet day the staff even appeared in the car-park with umbrellas, I would strongly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was perfectly situated to explore the island and the staff were very helpful in making sure what they could offer was their best. My room was situated at the back of the hotel which was noisey and could be a negative to other guests
Its position, close to St. Helier but not too close. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The food and service couldn't be faulted.
lots of facilities lots of noise staff taking breaks talking under bedroom window most of the night
Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms in a reasonably well located hotel. The service was friendly and efficient. Christmas songs in mid-November!
Room, food, friendliness of staff and the swimming pool
The quality of food was very good, staff friendly and the leisure and entertainment 1st class. Breakfast menu could have been changed every other day. The rooms were 'tired' and in need of refurbishment. All in all a reasonable hotel with the potential to be much better.
We were made very welcolme and all the staff was very nice.Good food and a clean hotel
courtesy of staff lack of wifi or internet connection in rooms;
Some staff were very nice and helpful, especially in the Italian restaurant. We have to thank them for saving our dinner. The aquadome is the main attraction, but unfortunately it does not make up for the low quality standard presented in the main complex. Some staff require training. Especially at reception and in the breakfast room we were treated with disrespect. The entire hotel complex has the appeal of a dated cruise ship which was underlined by the dominating presence of elderly people sleeping in the chairs. Food is nothing special. Cleanliness is an issue. Upon arrival in our room, our baby crawled over the floor and found worn underwear. We were given a new room, but for the price of a five star hotel in Zurich, we expected a lot more.
The variety of possibilities for eating, drinking and relaxing along with easy parking and access on foot to St Helier and by car to the rest of the island we're just what we needed. We swam each morning and appreciated the varied facilities of the aquadome. Very little at all - shame that the sauna was not working.
The room was lovely, the hotel staff were polite and welcoming, and breakfast was very delicious. Everything was just excellent!
Lovely hotel, friendly and very helpful staff, free lift to and from the airport Low pressure on shower
Welcoming and friendly staff throughout, dealt with problems speedily. Good swimingpool and attractive building. Unfortunately, the heating of the swiming pool was switched off half way through our stay - ie before end of September. Shower in the bathroom was poor - several outlets seemed blocked. Also shower gels not replaced when empty - had to request replacements. Only 4 TV channels and no radio in room.
Excellent room with good facilities Friendly reception staff
Over priced for the quality of hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts very very nice. Location perfect. Wireless connection very good. All very welcoming Room 35 - bed nearest window very soft - too soft, needs replacing. Towel rail heater not working, otherwise room fine.
Nice and quiet, nice staff, super location. It's a pity about the TV reception though None
Very helpful staff...very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere
Quiet relaxed atmosphere Some areas of the hotel are in need of updating
Excellent food, friendly efficient staff, very clean rooms Nothing comes to mind
Lovely location. Guest house has character. Rooms were quite spacious with en-suit shower, toilet etc. Breakfast was good. Couple who run this guest house were freindly and hospitable. Breakfast is served at 9am, which is quite late if guests are keen to go out and about early. We did arrange to have an earlier breakfast on the days that we needed to be at a convention in St Helier at around 9am, but sensed that this was an inconvenience.
evening meals well worth staying in for, enjoyed relaxed atmosphere.location -plentiful coastal paths walks, coastline spectacular.
Very Friendly Owners. Beautiful Location. Very Pretty Rooms and guest house. We had a sea view from our bedroom. Pretty dining room and good selection for a continental breakfast, at a very respectable 9am (or earlier if you wish). Very Clean throughout. There is parking available opposite the guest house. There is a swimming pool which would be lovely in summer. No sink in toilet/shower ensuite, therefore you had to wash your hands after visiting the toilet by using the sink in the bedroom. Unfortunately they had trouble with the ultra violet water filtration system when we were there so we couldn't drink the water from the taps. However they did leave us bottled water each day to make a drink.
Ida went out of her way to make us welcome and to explain the food arrangements. We are both Vegetarian and were looked after very well. Car parking was tight the whole week, and was situated on a very tight bend. The road to and from the hotel was steep and full of bends. There were no signposts that we saw leading down to the hotel.
The peace and tranquillity of its environment. The private and independent access to the room without having to go through reception The £15 charge for paying with a credit card
the weather was fantastic the undercliffe also fantastic could not stay long enough
It is a family-owned guesthouse where we were met with a very kind reception. We had a nice room with a beautiful view. The location at Boulay Bay is great. You can start walking the cliff path or relax at the beach. Nice pub nearby as well. we liked the personal atmosphere. Thanks for the nice stay. The breakfast time is late. But not really a problem. Just tell the people know and you get it earlier.
The friendly and efficient staff - genuinely interested in where we were coming from and what we wanted to do in the area. Delicious and well presented breakfast. Good location for goingn on walks, and enjoying the quieter side of the island.
Everyone at guest house friendly and very helpful. Loved the location and felt very welcomed and relaxed. Ida and Richard run a great value for money cosy and welcoming place. Would definitiely recommend to others. The place was so clean, the food was good, Richard is a great cook, you should try an evening meal, great value for money and delicious! The situation is beautiful, fantastic cliff walks and a wonderful pebbled beach. You should mention on booking if not so able as the stairs are a little steep. There was ample parking across from guest house. They went out of their way to give us a great holiday. Thanks! Not much to dislike! The guest house is on a hill so again if you are not so able it could be difficult. My mum couldn't manage the hill so I just dropped her off in the car at the bottom and then parked the car at the top again and the same to collect her, it's only a few minutes walk to the car park so not really a problem! I would advise car hire if at Bouley Bay or for anywhere in Jersey to get the best of the island. Over all, we loved the place!
