Very badly lit bedrooms. Cold impersonal restaurant service. Overpriced food.
beautiful hotel just outside the charming Provencal town of St. Remy. The rooms and grounds are well appointed. The staff professional and helpful.
Highly competent staff and excellent dinners Rooms did not offer views on the surroundings. At least some prices might be questionable: a beer 33 cl for 8 euro on the terrace in the afternoon.
The room was very clean and the staff seemed friendly enough, the hotel itself was lovely as well. The location, it's fairly out of the way.
The hotel is in the village of St Remy au Provance where Van Gogh spent time in a mental institution. You can visit the hospital and see what he saw and based his painting on. there is an impressive Roman ruin nearby. The hotel staff was very helpful in downloading driving instruction for me and providing shuttler service into the town (the hotel itself is just outside the village) I believe the food service needs to improve. Breakfast is part of the plan and even though the dining room had guests the cooks never refilled the scrambled eggs chafing dish. The dinner is full of showmanship and certainly enjoyable but the cooking was not as refined as the presentation.
We had a wonderful time at this hotel ,the staff were fantastic, they created a great sense of privacy and calm. Nothing was too much trouble. As we were staying a week we were upgraded to a junior suite which was a lovely surprise. We ate in the restaurant twice and really enjoyed it. This is a fabulous, fabulous Hotel.
Highly overrated hotel. Perhaps the rooms booked on booking.com are of lesser quality. But, we found the room and the hotel overall to be dull and disappointing.
Wonderful location with easy access for walking into to town
very nice hotel Breakfast greatly overpriced for minimal offering
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel relaxed, smart but not stuffy. N/A
Staff were excellent form 1st contact. All the facilities were well maintained and comfortable. Loved the pool! Eva loved the almond trees and the fresh almonds which one of the staff showed us. The room was super. Eva would have preferred a bath to a shower.
no air conditioning
Very nice and warm place. Very personal services and best breakfast in France yet. No swimming pool.
Friendly, family-owned atmosphere, helpful considerate staff, simple clean rooms, decent breakfast...nice pool/cabana. Just a 5 min drive from the center of St. Remy en Provence.
Friendly welcome. Situated close to the lovely town of St Remy de Provence, where there is a good choice of restaurants. Hotel itself in a quiet area. Comfortable spacious room with outside sitting area in the beautiful gardens. Provencal features of the building add to the calm tranquil feel of the hotel. Very good breakfast.
Quiet comfort. Breakfast ok. Pool area fine. 2 star about right. Would go back again.
nice place, good location
What an excellent hotel. The staff are absolutely superb, ready and very willing to satisfy all requests. It is a wonderful location, near enough to the town, but very relaxaing also - being away from it all in those beautiful gardes was indeed a great pleasure.
Pleasant public areas, quiet location, friendly and helpful staff. Minimal room size (but typical in this price class).
Charming hotel in delightful setting, with attractive pool area. The internet, although only available in public areas, works quite well. The rooms have either a small balcony or a terrace .Breakfast is a good value -- lots of variety, fresh juice, etc.. Although the hotel is within walking distance to town, the immediate area is not particularly busy or well lit after dark.
Proactiveness. One of the front desk staff contacted us on check in night and he provided us with directions when we could not find the Chateau. This gesture was very much appreciated and the guidance proved invaluable. Not able to visit and appreciate the areas surrounding the Chateau as it was the off season. Also, would be nice if more staff are able to speak English.
Very professional staff, great nature, and the suite was comfortable.
The staff, ambience, food, and the comfort was excellent. Best we have ever experience as a total package. Nothing to dislike.
we enjoyed the authentic provencal chateau experience, the hotel mixed successfully the original reception rooms with modern but classic french style bedrooms and en suites. The grounds and the terraces were superb. We also enjoyed the innovative gourmet dining. Thought the breakfast a little expensive, so enjoyed our croissant and coffee in the beautiful town of St Remy.
the location and the architecture of the hotel (beautiful 17th century "chateau" right next to saint remy de provence) are great! Splendid park as well. Very nice and professional staff no room service and poor mini-bar
this was an outstanding property - it more than exceeded our expectations - wonderful staff - beautiful grounds, spacious room, superb food and great location for exploring the towns of Provence
We could not have been happier. Driving in to the hotel through an avenue of plane trees with the charming chateau at the end was an enchanting experience and every aspect of the stay lived up to that stunning first impression.
Excellent location to explore Provence but be sure to have a car as it is about a 20 minute walk to St Remy. Staff were excellent and helped us plan a couple day trips. Restaurant was the best i ate at in France!
Stayed there our first night in Provence. We were road weary and enjoyed an excellent dinner at the hotel.
Great service. Beautiful old Chateau. I asked to have flowers delivered for my wife's birthday and they managed to get a dozen beautiful white roses delivered even though the flower shops were closed on Mondays.
The staff, the trees, the property, the fireplace, the rose wine. Breakfast should be included in the price of the room.
Delightful hosts Nothing
The stuff was great - very helpful, patient (even if we're unable to speak french) and fare (in the last minute we decided to stay additional night. although they could have charge us full price, the bill was discounted acording the price we gained at booking.com). The facilitiy is new. Location is very good as well (we had a car. walking to the town center would be less the 10 minutes). The biggest advantage was the value for money. We enjoyed our stay!
staff was very helpful and the rooms were beautiful
Location of the hotel and confort of the room. We upgraded to an air conditioned room with a splendid terrace, so everything was really nice. We would come back if will be again in the area.
The view from our window, the garden and the close access to the center of town. The breakfast was very good.
We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Apilles Mountains and were within walking distance to all of St. Remy de Provence sights and shops. the staff was pleasant and helpful. The strong odor of the cleaning disinfectant permeated the room.
The town of St Remy is ideally suited to touring the the Provence area as well as having excellent facilities the hotel is in the perfect place. It would be nice to to have one English news channel on the TV
The location is superb from Avignon, Nimes and Arles.
Extremely friendly, helpful staff, parking and excellent location.
View from window, breakfast on terrace, ease of parking, proximity to Glanum and St. Paul de Mausoles, decor of entire hotel.
we started our trip in Provence here and returned after going on to Nice. the location in St, Remy was perfect and easy access to Le Baux. Found the hotel on line and was recommended by Rick Steves. It was comfortable and a good value.
Excellent location, cozy clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff and an outstanding restaurant. Delicious food and beautifully presented.Next time I go to Saint Remy, I will definitely stay at this hotel again. There was nothing I did not like, I simply enjoyed my stay.
Very helpful and friendly staff on reception and especially the barman/waiter. I also liked the decor and furnishings of both public and private rooms. I did not use the pool but it did not look very clean and I speak as the owner of a private pool.
Location, size and comfort of room.
Good well run hotel, very clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff, and good location
A very charming hotel, invaluable experience, located near Van Gogh's path. Amazing scenery. Hotel located far from the bus station and the city centre.
Nice location just outside of Arles in beautiful area by Roman Ruins. Nice staff and clean rooms
It was a lovely setting and the staff there was very friendly/helpful.
Staff was amazing, very helpful. Cottage was so cute and fun to be in. Dinner was great and the pool was very nice.
The small garden right in front of our room
The environment and surroundings. The beds were not comfortable far too soft.
The room is roomy and quite There are not enough parking space in the evening, because used by people who drive cars to dine in the restaurant
All the staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, especially the staff at reception, and the restaurant was of a good standard.
Very nice and quiet! Excellent Dinner. Very friendly staff. Secure place and parking ground. Close to Avignon. Will come back...
quiteness, close to town centre, spacious garden pool water was not heated and a bit too cold
Relaxing, clean and friendly Too expensive by far and poor location
The staff were very attentive and polite. The layout and facilities in the hotel were lovely and there was a lot of attention to detail. Lovely scented rooms.
Spa facilities, swimming pool area and the hotel grounds and decor were very nice. Staff were also very attentive. Free wifi in the bedrooms. My room was very small although I was advised of this when booking so can't complain, there are a couple like this, and based on other reviews, most rooms are larger (although this would cost extra to the 185€ we paid per night). My main issue was the cost of any extras in the hotel. Menu prices and drinks were extortionate even if it has a michelin star. Since it's a good 10 minute drive from Avignon, if you don't have a car, you have to go by Taxi, and for some reason that costed around 25€ each one way journey too, making it an expensive couple of days. Not sure if it's normal, but the taxi drivers seemed to start their meter when they were called by the hotel, so the starting tariff would range from 6.50€ to 8.50€ which isn't great.
The friendliness of the staff and the food was fantastic Need a map to get there!!!
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but once through the doors a large, beautiful courtyard (very well maintained) appears. Nice pool area, and well appointed spa area. Fantastic meal at the restaurant. Very friendly staff. The location is a little "off the beaten path", and you need a car to get anywhere. Overall, a little pricey (both room rate and restaurant).
We absolutely loved this hotel! It has lots of Provencial charm and our room was very pretty and spacious. It is the perfect place to stay in Provence if you don't want to be with all the crowds in Avignon center. It is about a 10 minute drive to Avignon and easy access to other areas of the Luberon region. There are no restaraunts nearby so you will need a car for sure. The hotel has wonderful food but is pricey. It has a great outdoor pool, indoor pool with spa, very lush landscaping and beautiful patios. Very attentive service and wonderful personel.
We knew this hotel from a previous stay 10 years ago, it was nice to find out that it still matched our expectations. The restaurant as good as ever.
Beautiful location and wonderful garden setting. Evening meal outstanding and excellent value for money. Friendly and personal service. Attractive room furnishings More than one chair in room would be an improvement!
Helpful & Freindly Staff. Good menus. Quiet location
the grounds were lovely and the dinners very good The room we were in was about 8x8 with a queen size bed. It was very tiny. We paid the lowest rate and I imagine if we had paid a lot more we would have gotten a bigger room. The size for 5 days was just unacceptable and unbearable
We liked the general ambience of the hotel and the friendly staff - and the food!!
Our second visit....wonderful hotel and dining for guests. We loved it especially during warm weather when flowers were blooming and we could eat outdoors. This fall we dined inside and it was really enjoyable. Our room was great with its own balcony which would be super when the weather is warm.
The innkeeper, Michael, was fantastic. Very welcoming. We ate dinner at the hotel almost every night because it was excelllent. Nothing!!!
The bed was a little cheap for the price and inconsistent with the high quality of the rest of the hotel's facilities.
My wife booked this hotel as a "splurge" while stopping in St. Remy and didn't realize dinner was included in the package she booked. Great dinner in a quiet courtyard so walkable to St. Remy. The staff was super friendly as well, accommodating my wife's dairy allergy during dinner as best they could. We had to change rooms in between our two due to a late booking. Not a big deal and really outside the control of the hotel. Also, the hotel let us know as soon as we had booked.
the hotel is in the center of Saint-Rémy and it has it's own car park (it's not very easy to find a place to park your car in Saint-Rémy). Also, it has a patio and a swimming pool. the deco at the reception and bar. it was a strange mix of religious objects (statues of saints) and very modern ones (a disco ball). but this is a question of taste ...
The eclectic design and decor. The location was very convenient - it would have been more enjoyable if the carnival wasn't out the front door though. No help with the bags. We had to carry heavy bags up several sets of stairs.
I was not advised in advance that due to a carnival/running of the bulls in town, access to the hotel might be difficult. It would have been helpful to know in advance to enable me to plan accordingly, and avoid much undue difficulty and stress in parking and getting to the hotel.
Quaint, charming and eclectic hotel on the town square. The room was recently redecorated in a very interesting way. Safe secure off-site parking.
The building, the pool , the gardens, the quirkiness of the interesting decor, the town centre location, and the peace and quiet. No
This is cozy and nice hotel located in the center of St Remy. Feels it is a bit expensive given the small room and simple facility. People are friendly and helpful. If you want a peaceful holidays, this hotel is recommendable.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of all restaurants in St Remy. Also, having parking was convenient. Would like more English TV, not just BBC and CNN (too depressing).
Nothing the staff unfriendly and untrained i'n normal hospitality functions. Advertising is false and booking. Com should take note. Advertising is false and misleading. Cost is 4 star and service and facilities 2 star i'n my opinion. Location is also poor compared to advert. Breakfast is very poor compared to competition hotels.
The best I had in France I struggled with my luggage to my room
Central location and adequate facilities. Staff sufficiently friendly. Shower rather than bath which is ecological and convenient. Did not like the decor, the overcrowded fussiness of the furnishings and the lack of toiletries etc in the bathroom.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good location. Comfortable, well-appointed room. Excellent surroundings. Great value for money. we liked everything!
Pleasant atmosphere. The fact that dinner was not provided was in fact a plus in view of the alternatives in the town. The owner/manager worked at making teh guests welcome. Facility to have tea in the bedroom (i.e self help) would have been appreciated.
The owner speaks good English and very helpful
We liked best the hospitality of the staff and their very helpfull service, moreover than expected in hotels. no complaints!
Excellent location within a five minute walk of restaurants, bars and shops. An indoor bar would be useful n cooler weather.
The pool was a lovely addition to the stay. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and being able to walk into the lovely old town for buzzy evening entertainment.
All great except mattresses were uncomfortable. Mattresses
Comfortable hotel in quiet location but close to town centre. The proprietor was very welcoming and extremely helpful.
The two owners were extremely helpful. We had a pretty nasty problem with Europecar in Avignon and they really helped us solve the problem. They offered their help and spoke in French for us. They were also very good at advising great things to do at St. Remy de Provence.
The hostellerie is very well located a few steps away from central St. Remy. Easy access into the very nice garden with good parking space. Staff kind and helpfull. Room section and rooms not particular wellcoming. Although good and tasty breakfest, the coffee served was not of usual French standard.
very nice old mas provencal, beautiful area
Big field Only shower
Ok generally Had to ask for eggs for breakfast. Not obviously available
Beautiful house and gardens ande open space. Difficult check-ins for late night arrivals
Location and setting
The whole experience was very enjoyable at Le Mas des Figues. The room had a good view and was very clean and brightly painted.
