Cons:
On Saturday morning there was nobody at the drop-off location. I was supposed to key-in a code at the key drop box but none had been provided on the rental agreement that I could find so I had to e-mail their Vienna office confirming that I had, in fact, returned the car on time. I also noticed that the clock at the drop-off box was an hour fast, which would, I suppose, make it look like cars were returned late when they were returned on time.Alamo

The car was very good. A recent model, with low mileage on the clock and a high level of equipment.Cons:
The car was booked with Alamo. The details advised me to pick up the car at the Enterprise desk at Salzburg Airport and when I arrived the car was provided by Buchbinder - confusing isn't it. The car was very good. However, I had a minor incident on the road which caused irreparable damage to a tyre . I was able to fit the spare wheel - with a "spacesaver" tyre that had a maximum speed limit of 80kph (50 mph) - and I continued my journey to my hotel. From my hotel I tried to contact the hirer, using the number given on their scanty information pack. Seeing that it was a toll-free number, which can sometimes be difficult from a cellphone, I called from the landline in my hotel room. The number did not work. I asked the hotel receptionist to try the number for me and it did not work. I even tried calling from a public telephone in the street - it did not work! From the internet I obtained the rental desk number for Enterprise and was able to get through. I had hoped to be able to arrange a local replacement of the damaged tyre. However, with my limited German and the desk clerk's limited English and even more limited knowledge of cars I had the greatest difficulty getting her to understand that I had a burst tyre. She suggested I return the car to Salzburg Airport and pick up a replacement (a round trip of about 300km) but finally offered to get someone else to call me back. A man did call, about an hour and a half later, but his English was even worse and we finally agreed that I would just return the car at the end of my stay, using the spare tyre. The journey back to Salzburg on the Austrian autobahn at speeds limited to 80kph was very harrowing, with heavy lorries frequently coming up close behind, flashing lights and sounding horns for me to speed up or get out of the way. Overall I felt very isolated and vulnerable and completely let down by the lack of service from the hire company. Thankfully the burst tyre was only a minor incident. I dread to think of the problems if the incident had been serious. This was the worst level of service I have ever experienced and I will never use Alamo/Enterprise or their associates again.MEGADRIVE

It may have been in the small print which I didn't notice, the rental company in Vienna, Austria gave me a car registered in Slovakia with Slovakian plates and then charged me EUR 52 to drive to Slovakia??? In addition, they blocked EUR 100 from my credit card to secure this fee... and the manager was not there when I asked for explanation and only got "because the manager told us to..." Staff poorly trained in customer service and fees not making sense... I rented the car for a weekend with my family in Slovakia but when I opposed the fee o was told that "the fee is actually really convenient because I. An cross the border as many times I want and still only pay the one fee...."?!?! The total rental fee for 2 days was about 100 and the cross border fee made in 50% more expensive Not good at all, will make sure to avoid and spread the word...4.0 Mediocre

Lots of hidden charges. Excess was 800 as stated by all info I received however when I reached the desk it was 1000 so I had to take out the full insurance which cost me an additional 180 euro.Hertz

I took insurance via you with Allianz, because it was not with Hertz, I had to give an extra €1000 hold on my credit Card which will only be released in 10 days from now....this is totally unacceptable, but there is no choice once you want to have the car.Dollar

Customer service. We wanted to shorten our reservation to 4 days with drop-off by 12:29 pm July 6. I called toll 1-800# & was told to call local # we rented from. I called there numerous times. each time the woman said she was very busy and to call back later then hung up.many more problems....9.6 Wonderful

Somewhat better pricing than other car rental agencies. No problem with picking up in Salzburg and dropping off at Munich airport (i.e.: a one-way rental). Very capable and cordial rental agent in the Salzburg office.Cons:
