Pros: You charged me a $4,000 deposit and my plane tickets were thus denied. And i was left stranded in south america and forced to by new plane tickets at the airport. It was awful!

Cons: The employ gave my a bill overestimated of 100$ and corrected on the invoice by hand writing after I noticed it. After al,l he apologized for his mistakes, what is even more lame. He definitely intended to rip me off.

Pretty good would rent again
Pros: Truck fit our group of 4 and all our ski gear In the back that was good. We felt safe in it driving over the mountains. In the end they said I was charges same as my contract when I booked so no extra fees and I appreciated that.
Cons: Pick up was a little confusing the desk was easy to find but once we got paperwork had to look for the cars and someone to help. Car wasn't ready it needed to be washed and would be another 20 min. We said skip the wash it still took about 10 min. Returning same thing we weren't sure where to leave the car no one came up to us for awhile but when someone finally did they were very helpful and actually took us to refuel the car so we wouldn't be charged for not doing it before hand.

Turmoil in the middle of rental
Pros: I'm not sure how much it cost me in telephone roaming charges. I have to see on my phone bill when it arrives, But I was called twice during the rental to first, provide my credit card a second time and second, on the fourth day of the rental, I was asked to trade out that vehicle for another one. This isn't easy in the US and in Chile, when I don't have telephone connections and the language, it makes it very complicated. I still am mystified why my vacation stopped and had to focus on Avis emergencies.

Avis Employees Step Up to the Plate
Pros: For some reason, the Avis computer insisted that we owed much more money than our reservation stated, and employees at both the pick-up and drop-off struggled to bring it into conformity with the reservation, spending well over an hour to do so. Finally, one of the managers found a workaround. We still paid slightly more than the reservation promised and it was frustrating to wait around, but the patient service of the Avis staff was remarkable and turned it into a satisfactory experience. Note that this required some calm prodding by me. The SUV we rented proved to be an excellent vehicle.
Cons: Avis tried to charge much more than our emailed reservation stated.
The inside of the vehicle's windshield had apparently been smeared with a dirty rag--easily fixed.

Really difficult to find dropoff location
Pros: When we couldn't find the dropoff,my husband went and found someone from Budget and he came and drove us to the location which we wouldn't have found. They said that happens all the time.
Cons: We had to wait at pickup for the car for a while. Then the car was a bit rough looking and gas tank wasn't full but they told us that. The dropoff took about an hour. Thankfully we had a lot of time planned at the airport because we needed it. Sign posts are awful. Apparently, you need to follow the sign for national rental car which is off to the right.

The rental agency held $4500 because we opted out
Pros: The car was clean and adequate
Cons: Because we did not opt in for the insurance, the rental agency held $4500 USD until we returned the car. There was no indication of this policy beforehand, nor was it listed in writing in any of the rental agreement documents.

Doing a great job with what they have
Pros: Pickup was super fast. I did have to find the area where they kept the cars, but once I located it, the actual picking up of the car was really quick. The guy that was working outside only spoke Spanish, so be aware. You're reading this in English, if you don't speak any Spanish, you are in Chile, you might have some issues.
The car itself handled great. The clutch was smoother than my girlfriends car back home. The A/C pumped out a lot of cool air for the warm summer, and the car had excellent handling and plenty of tire tread.
We ended up getting an economy sedan. It's too bad I forgot exactly which one it was, because that thing went down some roads I wasn't sure we were going to make it down in the Conguillio National Park. We drove it all over the place and it really did it's job well.
Drop-off, again, had to find the entrance, went super smooth as well. It took about 1 minute for the guy to inspect the car, and then I had to go back inside to the counter where they charged my card.
For people reading this, the guys inside the airport seem to have a decent grasp of English. I started in Spanish, but the gentleman I was working with switched to English when he said a word I didn't know, and we completed the transaction in English. So the inside part of renting and paying for the car should be easy enough if you only speak English. The outside part will be a bit more challenging.
Cons: The cars are located outside with no covered walkway. During heavy rain, it's impossible to get your luggage to the car without it getting soaked.
Also, when returning the car, be aware that there's one "Entrance" and ALL rentals are in that same lot. If you're thinking there are separate lots for different agencies, like I did, you'll drive right past the entrance.
There are no petrol stations near the airport, put fuel in the car before you get there when returning it or you'll get charged an arm and a leg. I remembered to do so, thankfully, but I want people reading this to be aware that is an issue with other travelers.

Do not rent from the people at budget rental in sa
Cons: The car was not ready on time. Also, when we returned the car, they tried to charge us for damage that must have been there when we rented the car but it was so miniscule that no one noticed it. The front bumper was misaligned by millimeters. We had to squat down and stare closely to even notice. Finally, over three weeks later, it seems they decided not to charge us because I received a final receipt that did not include a charge for the "damage".
I know no one wants to admit that they damaged a rental car, but really--we didn't. What's more, I could have driven this car for years and never noticed.
Pros: I liked the process to book online, that was fast.
However, when we arrived the company told us there was no car. We cancelled the booking and left dissapointed. Real let down and caused a lot of stress.
