What are the pros of staying at Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk?
Great location and contemporary design. Loved everything, especially the exceptional service. Beautiful hotel, staff was awesome. The customer service and amenities at this hotel are fantastic. My room had the BEST pillows I've ever experienced and I appreciated that the hotel provides a loofah and q-tips for every stay.
What are the cons of staying at Canopy by Hilton San Antonio Riverwalk?
Parking was too expensive. No microwave or room service. The noise of the construction next door. Our room didn’t get cleaned so we had to call for extra towels. No ice available so we had to order ice a couple times. Toilet paper was terrible. The elevators were horrible. They don't have service elevators so the staff was lugging dishes and supplies with the guests. The environmental staff did not clean on a daily basis. The bathroom door weighed 300 hundred pounds. The incredible slowness of the valet, the texting app didnt work, took forever to ger our car. The elevators were SO SLOW! The shower controls werent very user friendly. The hotel was across from the Riverwalk. I did not like that they did not have a microwave in the room, bed was hard and no free amenties. No inhouse parking and gym. They first gave us a handicap room and said that because I made a reservation with Booking they didn’t assign rooms. Next day I had to talk to front desk again and they changed our room. The handle of the door between bathroom and room was broken. Cleaning was complicated also. One day the cleaned the room and didn’t take the trash. Other day they didn’t clean the room at all. Didn’t vacum the room also while we were there. Front desk got my info to make a reservation at the hotel restaurant - that is really good - and did not make nor inform us about it. Expensive valet service and took time to get the car. Parking is a tad expensive, but that's San Antonio really, hard to see how a hotel could build it's own parking facility in the middle of the city.... The only other element was the constant aircon that seemed impossible to switch off, great if it's roasting in Texas, but we stayed during a cold spell.... Lack of lobby. Room smelled like wet dog. Valet was pricey. Definitely among the best Valet we’ve used in Texas. But still, pricey. No drinking water in the room. Woke up in the night and found a bottle on the dresser saying get water from a dispenser down the hall. Really! BEWARE: Staff was super confused when I booked my room via booking that was supposed to give me an additional $75 credit on the property. Staff members had no clue what I was talking about and had to go back and forth like 4-5 times with them throughout my stay (of less than 24hrs) just to make sure everything was sorted. If you do get that package via booking take screenshot and confirm everything when you check in at this hotel cuz they almost screwed me over on this. Valet also lost my car keys, they did end up finding them after several hours and it could have been a lot worse if I hadn't requested my keys when I did (my keys were left in someone elses car!!!) definitely put a damper on the evening and nearly ruined the whole night (my girlfriend can't see without her glasses and the glasses were in my vehicle which they lost the keys to). So either get your own parking or bring an extra set of car keys cuz hey if it happened to me it can probably happen to you. Overall even with those things happening I was more just upset with how the situation was handled - felt like I had to fight tooth and nail just to get a little bit of understanding from staff on the situations. I would be very cautious of staying here again after such a poor experience. The elevators were horrible. What are the dining options available at the hotel?
The restaurant downstairs was good. Breakfast was great. The food was good but not as wonderful as I’d been led to believe. The bar on the 3rd floor though was excellent. The Domingo restaurant was very good. The Otro Bar was underwhelming and that Bartender was on her phone the whole time. Take good care of your customers, please.
