Outstanding service, great facilities, nice rooms, and all around fun place. Not a single complaint about the hotel or its facilities. Beyond their control: Canadians who want to use their cell phones are out of luck. Cell reception is unusable.
The location is wonderful as it's conviently located, the staff was very nice and helpful and the price was very affordable as I booked it off line and got a great rate. Everything seemed old, the phone in my room only half worked as people could hear me but we couldn't hear them. The refrigerators in both our room and that of another person in our party froze everything and the bathrooms are extremely small.
swimming hot tub
Rooms were dirty, beds/pillows were awful
The Summit Hotel was much nicer then I expected. The reviews were pretty bad, but it was a great location and the rooms were very big. There were a few things I didn't like, the jacuzzi didn't work and there was mold in the shower, but all and all we had a great time. I would go back again. Moldy shower, jacuzzi didn't work, scribbles on walls.
Location, restaurants, comfortable beds, clean sheets, friendly staff. Room seemed a bit old and beat-up.
My wife was gathering her clothes and found someone else's dirty underwear and shirt under the bed. She was also bitten numerous times by something during the night.
Location, Rate and cordial attendants Room not clean and we han to ask for towels and toilet paper. Room not cleaned or serviced the 2nd day. Never had this problem before and we have stayed at the Summit at least two visits a year.
The hotel is very nice, clean, quiet in a great location within walking distance of the shops in Lake Placid. The decor is a little dated, as are the rooms.
The rooms were a good size. Everything is in walking distance in the village. rooms in desperate need of updating. Bathroom so small that you have to turn sideways to close door, a large person would have great difficulties. Sink is in the room itself so no privacy in brushing teeth or quick wash. The bar entrance is straight across from elevator so children have clear view of the bar and some patrons. Although I accompanied my girls, the bars location makes it impossible for teens to go to pool without being goggled at by patrons with drinks in their hands. Its just not family oriented.
The queen room was a bit on the small side. The microwave and coffemaker (and small fridge below) consumed much of the desk, making it otherwise unusable. The hotel only provides some pre-packaged pastries and coffee, rather than a real continental breakfast (which is more expected now from even inexpensive chain hotels, much less a "resort" hotel). Rooms and furnishings were dated and worn. The hotel lounge was uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot water temperature was abnormally hot - scalding actually. Surprised if this even meets building code. The hotel is very convenient to the downtown commercial strip. I've got a number of itchy bites - did not see evidence of bedbugs - could have been the tiny black flies atop Cascade Mountain (just not sure...)
It was convenient Hotel is run down. Beds are old. It needs a sprucing up. Upon checking in we found our rooms both toilets to be soiled with fecal matter. To the staff's credit once I informed them they cleaned them immediately. Free continental breakfast was very basic. Restaurant that was advertised was closed. No bar available
The location was nice. Easily accessible to everything in town. The staff was decent - not overly friendly, but helpful when we needed it. Free Wi-Fi. Everything in the hotel was very dated. If the elevator had stopped working while we were in it, I wouldn't have been surprised. You could tell the carpet and paint hadn't been updated in a long time, however they say online they are in the process of renovating. We asked for extra pillows one night and they brought us pillows, but no pillowcases. We had to ask to get those too. The shower would go from hot to cold to hot to cold several times for no apparent reason. The breakfast consisted of poptarts and honey buns. This could have definitely been improved, although I don't think they advertise having a breakfast at all, so this was still better than nothing.
Activities such as swimming, boating, grilling ect included. Great value, close to trolley stop for downtown, close to food options, super friendly staff Walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors, breakfast was included but really not that great, stairs everywhere, so not mobility friendly
I have a 5 yr and 5 month old child; we had a blast on just an overnight stay! The pool and jacuzzi were awesome, we loved our rooms location and the little patio overlooking the mountains! Fridge and microwave in room were helpful and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast I've had! Our stay was excellent and my son will be talking about it for weeks to come! Getting our stuff in and out of the entrance near our room was difficult for me being a single mother. There was no ramp and doors were no stroller friendly.
Location, location, location. Great customer service, amazing fireside lounge, and restaurant attached.
Lake front. And mountains Tooooo many barking dogs left alone in room
We had a superior view King room which had a great view of the lake and was convenient to parking. Room was clean and renovated. Easy walk to Main Street. Balcony to relax on in morning and evening. Access to Lake and kayaks. It was perfect!
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Beautiful view of the lake, and Whiteface mountain. The room was spacious, and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Staff couldn't have been more friendly. We ordered room service (breakfast), and it was just o.k. Service was prompt and friendly but the food was just o.k. We went to BC (breakfast club) down the road the 2nd morning, and that was excellent.
Enjoyed the room by the lake very much. Clean and comfortable. No amenities such as coffee in lobby that most hotels offer these days...cookies, etc. For the amount charged I feel that they could offer a courtesy cup/sweet.
It's good nice bathroom and parti view. Carpets should be updated. Bed pretty comfortable. Room was clean
The bed was very comfortable. We opted for the full breakfast for a nominal $10 PP and it was great. Our king size bed room was a little small, but we saw the two queen size bed rooms next door and they were very roomy.
spacious clean room late 4pm check in
Liked everything except the hot tub. Hot "soaking" tub was disappointment - we were all most looking forward to enjoying a real jacuzzi tub - this was luke warm and no bubbles. The lights in tub and pool did not work either.
Shower was nice. Everything was clean. Great view. Hot tub was not very hot
Location, pools, lobby is great....very Adirondack No tea in both the room and downstairs in the snack shop. That's just bizarre.....not everyone drinks coffee. Room we had was larger than most but terrible, no view, in corner of the hotel blocked by walk. The hotel wasn't full.....why give, anyone that room?
The Dancing Bear restaurant was very over priced for the quality of the food. The outdoor heater was not working and it was a very cool night. When the waitress was seating us, we should have been advised that the heaters were not working. We visit Lake Placid often and will not return to this restaurant.
Superb in every respect
Courteous staff, great location
The main bar is stunning and very inviting at night. Room was very clean and comfortable and couldn't be faulted. loads of parking and easy walking distance to main street shops/restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel. None
We loved the great room and the view. We did not avail ourselves of the pool, or restaurants so cannot comment. The location in town is great but beware the hill! It is walking distance to town but you have to account for the hill. We stayed two nights and the room was not cleaned! I have never had that happen before! We stayed in a very basic room which was above some kind of steam vent. Walking up the hill can be tough at the end of the day but I kind of enjoyed the challenge. It was a little icy since we had a lot of rain instead of snow.
This was our fourth trip to this hotel and we are always very happy with our choice: clean, great location. attentive service the only draw back was the coffee in the restaurant, i would call it color-added water
Great staff. Liked Great root.
Staff were extremely helpful. Location was excellent
Except for the steep climb up to the entrance, this is great hotel.
The room was very clean and we had a great view of Mirror Lake. The location was excellent. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Lake Placid!
Friendly, helpful staff. Lobby décor and view is amazing...a great place to sit and relax in front of the fire. If you got takeout or snacks, you could easily grab a table (there are several) and eat while looking out at the lake and grabbing drinks from the bar. Ideal for a couple or a family with young kids looking for a low-key alternative to a stuffy hotel.
Loved the view, the lake front, the staff, access to restaurants/shopping, proximity to great hiking. AJ, Adam and Vinny stood out for exceptional customer service. Some places were short staffed as summer help hadn't come in yet, but we weren't in any hurry so it didn't bother us.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and down comforter with a balcony overlooking the lake.
In easy walking distance to downtown. Staff was responsive to issue with getting into room after i put my key card near a magnet and wiped it out. Beds are very comfortable and it had a nice view of Mirror Lake. Took 20 minutes to get checked in at 9PM at night when only clerk went into excruciating detail with someone who might do a canoe trip the next day. They needed to check us in quickly and then return to customer who was casually figuring out their next day's plans.
Lovely for a night. Seemed like a great location for a longer stay. Very low key.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was extremely clean and my room was updated. Location is fantastic and highly recommend this place. I do not have anything negative to say about their facilities..
Right from the start we were so pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, Johnny High Peaks and Eli. So helpful and welcoming! Thanks, guys! We thought our room was beautiful and very clean! One and only little complaint.,....there was no complimentary coffee ready in the morning. :(
The rooms were very clean. The beds slept well and the view was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Wish they had an elevator. :(
location, cleanliness, breakfast was good, price
I thought it was sorry they didn' t include breakfast in the prize. Some parts of the hotel were far too cold because of the air conditioning
Rates were reasonable, staff was great! (Eric took care of us both on the phone and when we checked in and was wonderful)!!!! Would have liked the bar to have been open during the day.
Room was big, staff was pleasant and accommodating. Food was expensive, pool was very small, one out of two hot tubs was out of order for the three days we stayed.
We were looking for something convenient and a little bit of luxury. We got both. Great service, nice, clean and large rooms, a welcoming lobby.Did not eat atthe hotel so cannot comment on food but I'm sure the quality was there.
Friendly staff. Nice room, very clean. Nice view from room. would not go back; it was too expensive. Breakfast not good.
Geat looking building and comfortable lounge. Just outside the village with easy drive into town. Shuttle service provided for those times when you prefer leaving the car at the hotel. When we checked into the room for the first time the airconditining was not on so the room did not smell fresh and clean, it had a smelly laundry odour. Also, would have liked an outdoor pool.
The stay was friendly, the hotel rooms were very clean and large. The hotel itself has a nice modern feel.
The confort of the bed and the cleanest of all the hotel. Bread in the breakfeast
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The pool was great. The hotel is nicely decorated. It was impossible to adjust the temperature in the room. The firepit wasn't working. The cafe's food is too expensive.
Very friendly staff, perfect location, walk to everything in lake placid. Beautiful lake and mountain views. Good food, fantastic amenities included.
View from room was great, dinner at the view restaurant was excellent. Christmas decorations were an added pleasure, the common rooms were beautiful. We will definitely be coming back. Had to pay for wi-fi
In a beautiful setting. Staff aimed to please. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Upscale feeling designed to pamper guests. Huge complex. Felt like I walked a mile to the entrance from my room.
The place is very clean and very homey, the woman running it was wonderful. I will definitely go back again.
We had three hikers in our group, and they set us up in a room with a pair of bunk beds in addition to the queen size bed, which we didn't expect and was great. Staff was very nice. We had a camping trip planned and they allowed us to leave one vehicle with them for the two nights, which was extremely generous of them. We didn't get to stay for the breakfast so I can't comment on that.
This is a very friendly place. It has that at home feel. We enjoyed conversing with others at the continental breakfast yet had our privacy when desired. The fresh home made bread at breakfast was scrumptious. The room was small but still comfortable.

Such a great hotel. Old, but a good old. Wonderful beds, very clean, well staffed. Nothing

Location, price Shower head
The memory foam mattresses were a welcome relief from some less comfortable beds we encountered during earlier legs of our trip. The wifi was not very reliable, requiring news passwords and authentication every time the computer/iPad/iPhone was turned off or went to sleep. It also was very slow in the evenings during times of typically heavy use.

Great location The hotel is somewhat dated
The location is perfect, lake view rooms Have spectacular views Very limited parking, seriously its prison rules to get a spot. Had to park in municipal parking (free 8-8) but it was slightly inconvenient after a long day of hiking to trek from the municipal lot to the hotel.
The balcony out the 6th floor The tub was filthy, hair all over bottom of tub, the parking lot was very poorly lit and unclearly marked, there were pebbles/rocks all over the carpet, overall, it was not a great experience.
Good location Very limited parking
Location The room was NOT clean. Not up to par. Counters obviously not wiped down. Dog hair/human hair all over the comforter. Windows dirty. Bathroom mirror/frame dirty. Very limited parking; had to park in municipal lots that were not reimbursed by hotel.
Great location, rooms were nice and spacious. Bed very comfortable. Halls smelled bad and did not seem as well taken care of. Not enough comfortable furniture in the sitting area of the room.
Great staff and location. Very clean, no issues.
Location No water kitchenett area
The location of the hotel and the view from our room was amazing. The lobby was beautiful and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Convenience to local facilities. nothing
accommodations were nice.
really liked the convenience of the hotel. being on the frozen lake was perfect for playing hockey and ice skating. the beds were very comfortable and it was nice knowing the duvet covers were washed and clean unlike a lot of budget hotels. also like that hotel provided 24/7 hot beverage area and newspaper. the lobby fireplace was warm and plenty of seating. the outdoor fire pit was also great. THE BREAKFAST WAS INEDIBLE. We were in the Adirondacks and thought we'd have REAL syrup not sugar and corn syrup with food coloring and artificial flavors. pool and hot tub were great features BUT so much chlorine that I had the smell on me for 4 days that I was there and I only used them once. the parking lot had so much messy slow slush that we ended up trekking it to the room on the carpet. our socks were wet every day.
location. Great staff!!
Location the shower fills the bath and does not evacuate well, the reception is across the street in another hotel
Great location. My kids loved the taking the kayaks and paddle boats out on the lake. They also enjoyed the game room downstairs. The room was nice and roomy and had a nice view of the lake from the 2nd floor. The pillows were a little to soft for me but I'm use to a firm Tempurpedic at home.
The décor was beautiful and the person on duty that evening was very nice.
Perfect location, beautiful room. Would stay again. Checking in across the street and there being no staff at the hotel was initially disconcerting, but the privacy was welcome.
The lakefront with kayaks and pedal boats make the stay. Cedar ceiling in the room added to the rustic charm. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The lobby was perfect.
It had heat and running water. Someone lied about the hotel star rating. This is not a 3 star hotel.
this hotel had all lakefront views. It was walkable and convenient to most restaurants and attractions in Lake Placid village. The indoor pool/hot tub area needs a lot of updates. the concrete deck does not have enough drainage so it was all wet with puddles. It needs a good scrubbing, as well as the tiles/grout in the hot tub. They did not offer any breakfast.
Great location to all the downtown shops and restaurants. Great view of mirror lake from every room. Also ample free parking.
The view It was a little dated
The hotel is nicely decorated, clean and tidy with a cool vibe. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable with lovely sheets and duvets. 1st floor rooms would have a great view of the lake. Very swimming pool and access to lake.
Location, pool/hot tub, play room. To be honest it's 3 star hotel - NO more then that.
Very accommodating, friendly staff. Beautiful location. Wonderful amenities.
The best was the view from the balcony! Yes, the bed was too soft not enough support.

Perfect hotel, location, amenities. Really gorgeous view. Was even better than we expected. Will recommand it to everyone.
The Pines Inn is a cozy place to stay! It's right around the bend on the top of the hill on Main Street, so you're never too far away from the restaurants/bars/gift shops. The staff is friendly and we had no trouble getting to our room. Overall, a good place to stay! As triathletes, we would have loved a mini fridge in our room. But other than that, no complaints!
Family owned quaint inn. Clean and neat that's close to Main Street . No mini fridge or microwave, so if you have special dietary needs you may want to consider.
Staff could not have been more accommodating. Jill and Frank are keeping alive a piece of history and Classic elegance Reminds you of staying at Grandma's House
