the breakfast was verygood, the proximity of the big beautiful garden of schwetzinger, the room itself was big. the ambiance around the small lake is nice. the room was big but at the same time unpractical: not heated on the first night by very cold evening (below 12 celsius degree! in the room), big bathroom with modern japanesestyle shower which unfortunatly is too modern to have a door=> water everywhere = messy. bed not too comfortable (short 190/200cm sheath small). every second staffmember is not really nice("lakeview if you look over the parking lot, well if there's not car..., ok the other room 's got better lakeview (forgot to mention that it's not a french bed which was my wish, i gave up)"). location: 10 minutes from mannheim = exactly speaking it's in deed it's 30min from the railwaystation of mannheim. on national day 3.10 AND on sunday noise of the construction site: not relaxing
The view from hotel and restaurant is beautiful. Lake is in front of the hotel and it is nice to walk around. Rooms are clean but very small. Wireless internet is free of charge. Pillows are very thin and not comfortable. Breakfast also a little bit poor.
This hotel is filled with business travellers. Its handy to have a country location where parking is easy near to many companies in the area. The food id OK, rooms quite basic, but TV works and so does free Internet. I woul;dnt really suggest it for a pleasure break - there are plento more interesting and romantic hotels in Heidelberg. They were rebuilding half of it. Eleveator didnt work
Very nice small hotel, quiet and comfortable. Close to Heidelberg. Free access to castle park.
Friendly atmosphere, very clean and well-presented room. Convenient access to the motorway. Excellent breakfast. Pleasantly located opposite the castle gardens.
Carol the hostess is lovely and so helpful and speaks great English. Breakfast is great and as it is not included in the price, if you don't want it, you don't have to pay for it. Lovely garden and backyard cafe areas. Free access to the Schloss gardens with the hotel pass. Free parking. Fresh fruit and refrigerator in room. Rooms a little tight, but the back rooms are much better.
The hotel was quite.
very nice room, great breakfast, lovely owner none
Small and personal. Well equipped rooms, friendly atmosphere.
The Castle Gardens. And it was our first experiencw of a German wedding. It was the best wedding we ever attended.
Very friendly service, Rooms well resourced, even with an umbrella! Very nice breakfast, comfortable rooms and English speaking. Would definately stay again.
Wonderful, the owner paid attention to every detail. Clean, beautiful little patio, across the street from the palace gardens, even had a pass card to get into the gardens for free..delightful stay.
Friendly staff, very nice garden and good breakfast. Not far from Heidelberg. There was a cockroach in the room, although the room itself was clean!
The hotel met and exceeded our expectations . We would recommend it unreservedly to anyone who asks. Minor point - perhaps all we needed to do was ask. It would have been nice to have additional pillows in the room.
Very thoughtful and comfortable. Staff were wonderful. Charming and right in the heart of the shopping, restaurants and right beside the Castle and it's Gardens. I would go back anytime. I highly recommend it. I cannot think of anything I didn't like.
The location, just next to the castle. Decent buffet breakfast. Pleasant front desk staff. Rooms functional. Bathroom small. Toiletries inadequate., Towels and bedspreads were not changed daily.
pleasant surrounding ,friendly people chiming clocks
The room was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful and cordial. Breakfast was good with a nice variety. Not the hotel's fault, but noisy road work began directly outside the room at 7:30 on Saturday morning.
It was a very pleasent and quiet stay. Breakfast was excellent and even through the kitchen was not open it was near other loctaion in which to enjoy a meal.
The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help you. The rooms and beds were a bit small. But that's to be expected in Europe.
+Location, right in an area of town with great resteraunts and right next to the Schloss Garten. + Breakfast was good european quality, prompt service. +Comfortable beds! -Room on second floor took almost 5 minutes to get the water warm enough to shower. - a little pricey.
Located near Lueisn Park and the staff being freindely and very helpful No
Clean and modern no kettle in room
room was comfortable and it was a good price. not too far from the centre with lots of public transport.
clean free car park Calm Coffee machine and water The internet access is a RIP OFF !!!! Free of charge, the line is 512 K which is just ridiculeous in the 21rst century. The premium access is charged 10 euros per 24 hours for a promised 100 Mb line...I paid and I had 3 Mb !!!! Despite a complain, nothing back ! the bar is also very limited :(
Pool area was very clean and tidy. Room was well decorated and a safe in your room was excellent. We felt that as a four star hotel there would have been tea and coffee making facilities in your room, very disappointed there was not. All hotels in England have this facility. The cost of the breakfast was also very expensive.
It was near the location where I have a course Breakfast is too expensive, and wifi is not free. It would be nice if it would be included.
There was a problem in that they had not booked a triple room, but this was sorted with minimal fuss in that they gave us an extra room for free. We were travelling with children, and although the menu etc did not have children;s options, and we were worried about being out of place at dinner, the restaurant staff were really kind and brought free ice cream and noodles for our younger children and made us feel at home. Nice to have swings and slide outside for them to play on too. Rooms reasonably spacious - quite nosiy from car park and main road, but no problem for us. Located just across the road from the fantastic Luisenpark, where we spent a whole day. The swimming pool was really nice but very cold! The hotel was further away from the main shops and restaurants than we expected, but a nice 15-20 min walk (through the amazing Wasserturm and fountain square - you must see the fountain at night).
Nice TV, room very clean and well furnished.
Thse staff was friendly, the room had nice view Windows could not be fully opened. Breakfast was not included and was expensive (15 euros)
The fresh orange Jose in the reception desk The bath towel is old and bad smell , toilet is small , the building is very old but the furniture is new
It has all that you need as restaurant, bar and a excellent spa. Our room was a litle small and do not has captain bell to help us with the luggage
Facilities are outstanding, great pool area. Checked in a 1400, tried to make a reservation to the restaurant only to be told that is was already booked/reserved by an entire group. Parking is expensive, but I've always complained about it and it will never change.
The central location, and elegant feel. Breakfast price. Although the food was great, I felt it was overpriced.
Nice and clean room. Easy access to public transportation. There are restaurants and shops when you walk across the street.
location noise from pumps?or heating/cooling equipment
Very helpful staff and excellent location
The room was spectacular! Very comfortable, well furnished- amazing night sleep! the spa area was very nice- very clean and large enough to accommodate everyone without feeling crowded. it was quite close to the city and very accessible by car from the motorway. The breakfast was ridiculously over priced! We didn't try it but were quite insulted that in such a nice hotel they have the audacity to charge that much for some bread and eggs! The parking as well was ridiculous especially because from Saturday afternoon until monday morning its free to park on the street (highly recommended).
It's location to the shopping center & attractions, also the very friendly & helpful staff, along with the clean lesure facilities.
It was clean and quiet. Room was small as compared to others I stayed in. Did not like twin beds separated. Breakfast was good.
the breakfast guests have to pay for the htel parking
Staff was very hepful and polite, hotel was very clean
Staff very friendly and efficient Poor location if you want to go into the city
The room was spacious, the breakfast was very good.
It is clean and quiet. There is no lift. We have to carry our luggage to go upstairs.
I llike the comfort, the breakfast and the hotel facilities. When I made my reservation online I checked not smoking room. In my check in I was given a smoking room. Of course, the reception clerk changed the room, but he said the hotel is not obligated to follow the guest options.
confusion and expensive brekfast expensive brekfast 15 euro person in not came again
you need a car if you stay there...
Personnel were very helpful, and breakfast was very good. No elevator, therefore not handicap friendly; outrageous prices for internet use.
My unexpectedly early check in was accomodated nicely Nothing. Everything was okay.
Location close to city center easy access from autobahn The lack of onsite parking is a severe handicap not helped by confusingly signed public parking
Great location, whole new object.
Convenience of underground car park When arriving by car not too easy to see the entrance, which if you pass it involves a tricky manoeuvre - I nearly had an accident
buffet breakfast, efficient service, polite manner, great locaton, great facilities. wifi was terrible, when our power went out reception didn't do anything about it until i asked 3 times.
Modern, comfortable, well-maintained About ten minutes walk to the old town: for sightseeing something closer might have been better.
Breakfast buffet. Very good and much better than similarly priced breakfast from Leonardo hotels nearby.
good location close to the altstadt, very nice room and excellent bar with a big screen for sports
Hotel was very nice looking from the front desk. I really hoped I could stay there. Staff was helpful and made sure I was as taken care of as I could be for the situation I booked only to turn up and find that their was no availability so I was shipped to another hotel that was not as nice.
loved those mosaic tile heated lounges. they were really incredible after a cold day of visiting heidelberg thermostat on furnace still kept room to warm. perhaps going to digital would be easier to work.
the air conditioning was not working, we complained 5 times and instead of telling us it was out of order, apparently for some time, we were told that they were adjusting the temperaure to 0 degrees C, which of course didnt work! we received different excuses, technicians not available, other rooms had the same problem etc
Large room, convenient location directly between the HBF and Altstadt Way too expensive for a basic room
I had to stay in a smoking room despite having notified weeks in advance that i was a non smoker! very displeasant experience!
For whatever reason best know to the hotel, we paid for a regular double room through the site, and ended up with a suite. I am sure that we were just very very lucky, but the hotel is fantastic. The rooms that we saw are all to a high specification and the staff are very helpful. As a little tip the rooms are over 30 Euros cheaper if you specify no breakfast. It is a bit of a walk to the old town, 20 minutes, but it really isn't that big a deal and should not put you off.
Great city; very friendly and convenient to all. Also has great beer! All good
Room was decent, staff were friendly and helpful. All extras (breakfast, swimming pool, internet, etc) were separately priced, and rather expensive.
Good location Very dated hotel interior and exterior
1. Afternoon Room keeping service: Ready to bed 2. Very customer orientated friendly staff 2. Details: One-way Toilettery (from Etro) represented the Hotel standard 1. Narrow front parking.Very limited to pick up our luggage. 2. For 22 Euro, Breakfast was not that fascinating. (Need to be upgraed to Moevenpick standard)
Only thing that was missing was that in breakfast room the butler did not have white gloves. :)., But anyway I like that big man as he takes his job very seriously.
Cosy decoration and excellent staff Price of internet access is too high and 24 hour minimum instead of more flexible periods
Wery solid and sound, you get the feeling that this hotel has been there fore centuries and all the staff is friendly and know what they are doing. Use of Internet should be easily accessable and free of charge. The Wellness Center should be free of charge for guests
Great room, great view, great place Only complaint that having paid decent money to stay you then get charged to use the wellness facilities on top and the price didnt include breakfast.
Classic, old luxury hotel with excellent service and good restaurants together with a modern spa. With the price negotiated by Booking.com we really got value for money. Nothing
Location , Cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel services the toilets are clean and comfortable but i did not like the seperation between the bath and the toilet
Outstanding restaurant in which we had a superb meal and received excellant recommendations for both food and wine
Pleasent location and facilities
Very quiet ! Not enough international TV channels
spacious rooms, very modern and luxury bathroom, wooden floors (clean)
inside architecture and space proportions, deco color schemes quality of materials and outfits Very pleasant for the connoisseur
The hotel was in a typical turn of the centry building, but with all the modern necessities of a modern hotel. Very nice, comfortable architecture. The hotel was also very close to the city center (5 min walk through a beautiful garden). Internet in the lobby was also available and free. No complaints at all.
Selection of Hotels in Mannheim is small - this is the most convenient and comfortable one.
Good location, nice clean room and kind reception staff. It was slight difficult to find a car parking area. Hopefully bath.
Central location was good and staff was friendly, The hotel was being renovated however I never heard a thing in the room. This is my second time in this hotel! I was not informed of the hotel renovations.. luckly they were very understanding and very quiet.
Very nice hotel and specially very friendly people in the front. My room was big, clean, with a very nice view. It is very easy to find and it has a parking place connected to the hotel, so you can access your car without walking too much (safe from rain). The breakfast was not included.
The friendly help fom the lady working at the desk was outstnding the rooms in the hostels were bigger and allowed us more freedom
Large comfortable clean room and staff who speak English and are friendly. We think it would be good to have tea and coffee and a kettle in the room.
The staff were very pleasant and able to answer any questions in English. The room was very clean. Air conditioning would improve the quality of the rooms.
Staff very friendly Close to town center, but room was very quiet parking free I always feel hotels over charge for breakfast, It's much cheaper to eat away from the hotel
Practical place to sleep. No more, no less.
convenience to local needs
Short drive from where we wanted to go They were full so we didn't realize we did not get a non-smoking room until we tried to get to sleep and could smell the smoke remains.
You simply know what to expect at Mercure Hotels and their prices are average to medium level. Breakfast is quite expensive (EUR 13,= per person), while normally the average is about EUR 5,=-EUR 8,= per person.
Everyone was very friendly and the breakfast was great.
Good size room, good location, free and safe parking The bathroom was not bad, but already for some time in need of general upkeeping
The hotel has an amazing view over Heidelberg and includes stunning rooms and really friendly staff. It's a little on the pricey side
Great location, just a few minutes walk from the centre. Good personally service and excellent decor.
it was a marvelous hotel very fine designed which covered all my expectations , small but fine . tip ask for a suite over viewing the river !
Beautiful & attentive to details decoration; outstanding & proactive guest service;
Quality suroundings, amenities & location.
It's location was perfect oberlooking the old town which was just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel itself is excellently presented and the staff are extremely professional. It offers a spa which we didn't use, rear gardens with a summer house and jaccuzi again we didn't have time to take advantage of these facilities. Room very comfortable and clean. The fact that the carpark attached to the hotel was charged to you at at rate of 15 Euro's per day. It is incredibly small and I feel that the charge was unneccessary given the cost of the hotel.
Good clean well appointed modern hotel. Used by us as an overnight stop as half way between home and Austria. Buffet Breakfast plentiful and well presented. Free parking at rear of hotel.
The Staff have always been polite and very helpful everytime I stat at the Hotel.
It was very easy to get from the autobahn and very close to the castle. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast available at an additional cost was worth it. We really enjoyed our stay.
The staff were very helpful, the 3 bed room was very good value for money evening meal limited option
friendliness of staff
Excellent hotel. We were very happy we stayed. Staff is extremly helpful and go out of their way. Our room was perfect size/clean/nice. It's very easy to find this hotel and a great spot to anchor yourself for daytrips in the area. breakfast is not included in room rate but it's not a big deal.
The sauna facilities were amazing! It was very far away from everything. I went to a wedding in Heidelberg, the purpose of my trip, and nearly missed it due to the taxis in the area being over an hour late
I went down to Schwetzingen to play in a golf tournament and this hotel was a great value and very comfortable. Breakfast was charged separately but well worth it. They had everything on breakfast buffet. Also the beds were very comfortable as European beds go. There is also parking available behind the hotel.
excellent breakfast....walking distance to main square..easy parking
Friendly personel & comfortable rooms. Good breakfast buffet & conveniently located for Heidelberg & surrounding area.
Excellent location, large comfortable room. Church bells rang every 15 minutes throughout the night. Probably unavoidable anywhere in the city.
location of hotel initially trying to find hotel; limited access through pedestrian zone
This is actually a historical landmark in Heidelberg and tour groups visit it! Each room was different and offered various amenties-tub versus shower, for example. Old World decor and views of The Castle. Fabulous location -can walk to almost everything. Would definitely stay here again. Tiniest of complaints-the baths linens were terrible! I use better and thicker ones when washing my car!
The location of the hotel could not have been better. We could walk to everything. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel was opposite the church. The church bells rang loudly every fifteen minutes. Other guests sang and shouted outside the hotel until 6.00 am so kept us awake all night.
was not told about extre chg for breakfast
The central location could not be better. The room was very noisy at night with outside revelers noise through until 3 / 4 am. No lounge area for sitting and relaxing.
It is a very homely environment. I like the restaurant set up. The staff speaks good English and very helpful. The wash room is very small.
Location is perfect and the historical value of the building is extremely impressive!
Sitting out side and people watching while I was drinking a Pils
The location is perfect! Clean rooms and helpful staff.
Brand new facilities, big rooms. Logical rate for wireless internet access. Rather poor breakfast.
The hotel is entirely new (interior) and is meticulously clean and comfortable; the staff were excellent. Ideal for a one or two night stay. Limited parking. The hotel garage was state of the art, but could not accommodate my E Class Mercedes as it was too long to stack and the on street parking meters will not allow one to purchase a ticket in the evening that is valid when required from 7 am the next day.
comfortable rooms, clean and nicely decorated. If you leave the window open, it is quite noisy. A/C is available, however, I prefer to have fresh air.
The rooms are very funky and have good quality fittings. The hotel is in a quieter location, but not too far from the Aldstadt. No iron/ironing board in room
Freindly staff Small Rooms.
Reamrkably good restaurant inside the hotel. Polite available staffa at the restaurant. Very cold and unavailable staff at the reception desk. Smiling is an unknown facial effort to them. On request help was delivered about the free internet available on the concierge desk only at the price of evident impatience. The parking lot is not high enough for a car taller than a spider. Parking on the roads is very expensive on working days.
Modern rooms. Simple and efficient.
Excellent attention to making this a great place to stay if you have any allergies or sensitivities to chemicals. The restaurant is quite nice, with a great chef. Rooms are spacious and the location is a short walk from the old city and all the attractions of Heidelberg.
Very good service and friendly staff No
Chic, modern rooms. Decent location within walking distance of the Altstadt and convenient access to public transportation. Staff was very efficient. I felt like I was being 'nickled and dimed,' having to pay extra for breakfast and internet access. At other hotels I stayed on this holiday, internet and breakfast was included.
Facilities, ie sauna, were very good. Restaurant was a bit pricey.
Excellent dinner at reasonable price. XL breakfast. Very kind and professional staff. Reserved parking space for women was a nice plus. The room was maybe a bit too noisy but that depends I guess from the other guests - not the hotel itself...
sauna and sport room When I checked in I had to wait for 1 hour but it's not important......when I checked out there was a mistake in the hotel bill (+50 euro...it's really not very fine).. but when I came back home the hotel contested me the failure to appear ahhh behhh that's absurd!!!!!!!
Loved the old town near by.
The staff were excellent and the sparking wine on arrival was a bit of a treat. The room was spacious and the bathroom facilities were very good. On site parking was a major factor in choosing accommodation on this trip. While there a trip into Ladenburg township is a must. This hotel seeks to atract business for conferences etc yet it does not have free access to WiFi which is readily available in budget hotels. Get with the 21st century people.
Relativly Cheap The Bed and pillows are not comfortable
One point. Although I specifically asked whether breakfast was included in the room rate and received an affirmative answer, I got charged 15 euro per person for breakfast while check-out.
In general OK No gym at the hotel, a bit difficult to park
Hotel is spacious, has a free parking. After 11 o'clock there is just stuff from the bar to help you if there is something wrong in the room. Like I had a bathroom heater broken, and the guy didn't know how to repair it. On the other hand he was helpful
Gym was not really a gym, pool was very small.
Everything was great
Location Air conditioning not working
Staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful.
Lovely restaurant with excellent food and service. Rooms were very nice. Rooms were very warm the first night so difficult to sleep
Very helpful and friendly staff. Room very well equipped. Very clean hotel. Requested non-smoking room at booking but was put into a smoking room. Much to our disgust. Service at breakfast not as good as in some other hotels.
Staff, Great attention to all my requests, especially Karina from the restaurant, excellent attention and kindness to speak in my lenguage (spanish). Small tv.
I hope to came to germanty and stay a gine in this hotel
The employees and facility. Josaphine at the reception desk is wonderful. Everything was super
The hotel was conveniently located. The room was very large and clean. Overall we thought it was a great value.
The hotel was "Perfectly" located close to everything like public transport, old city, restaurants, shopping and also easy access to main attractions of the city. The rooms were clean and large, staff friendly and concerned about our satisfaction and needs.I Would give this hotel 10/10 None actually.Just that carpet was not clean in some places, we could see dark spots.
Very clean and comfortable. Right in the centre. Need an alarm clock. Also can be a bit noisy from trams and people out late at weekends
Overall cleaness of the hotel Tv was not working.
great location, the room is big enough for us, and the internet work very will.
Room was large, neatly decorated and had a very modern large bathroom as well. The room was consistently hot and when you try to cool it off by opening the windows you were faced with a smell of burnt food mixed with cigarettes from a restaurant next-door. Do not stay in a room facing the courtyard. Our room was 126, which was particularly bad. Additionally the hotel walls appear to be very thin and we seemed to be able to hear noise from all over the hotel.
Room was very pleasantly decorated. Just across street from Hauptstrasse to walk in old city of Heidelberg Hotel garage was a little difficult to get in and out of.
We battled to find the address
Everything was great. Great location.
Friendly staff with excellent command of multiple languages Nice shower with great water pressure
Excellent position, nice staff and comfortable room. Very good bakery really near the hotel with buttered pretzels!
I thought that the staff was tremendously helpful and very knowledgeable. I enjoyed breakfast and the overall cleanliness of the hotel.
