Pros: The horse riding was outstanding - our favourite pet. The room was charming and very comfy.
Pros: Beautiful old castle, rooms are kept in style with the building, modern bathrooms, comfy beds and located in a beautiful park. Great staff and excellent food. Perfect.
Pros: Beautiful property, in a rural setting with large grounds to walk, excellent quality food, outstanding, friendly, helpful, engaging staff. Superb.
Cons: It is impossible to find any fault with this adorable hotel.
Pros: Beautiful chateau in a lovely setting. Easily found and we were welcomed by friendly staff who helped with the bags and rebooked us for the restaurant. Lovely cuisine and wine and they catered specially for the meat and dairy free diner.
Pros: The room was very spacious and exquisite with decorations and furniture that gives one a truly chateau-like experience. The service was professional and yet family-like, with friendly and talkative staff. Cuisine was very good and in line with the final bill. The surrounding area was serene, very suitable for walking with a baby stroller.
Pros: The rooms & the food plus service was to a very high standard
Pros: Lovely setting
Cons: Rooms dated and in need of repair( broken tiles in bathroom)
Pros: Got an upgrade to suite that was beautiful and made us stay an extra night.
Pros: We couldn’t find anything we didn’t like it was perfect.it was very peaceful, with amazing grounds
Cons: There wasn’t anything really we could complain about ,except when we had dinner in the evening we struggled a little with the menu ,as we don’t speak french it would have been nice if there had been an English version, although the waitress & one of the other members of staff did try to translate for us ,& we ended up having a very nice meal .
Pros: The property is beautiful. Very pleasant to walk around and spend the day. The rooms are comfortable.breakfest is good and nice dining room. Reastorant is excellent.
Cons: The price was a bit too much. The rooms were nice but outside the main castel.the spa is disappointing.
With a stay at Le Saint-Michel in Sedan, you'll be a 1-minute walk from Chateau de Sedan and 7 minutes by foot from Sedan Botanic Gardens.
Pros: The owner/manager was excellent and looked after us very well. Excellent location to visit the nearby fortified castle and shops.
Pros: It is a very cozy and wonderful place to stay in Sedan. The location is really good with plenty of parking just in front and less than 5 minutes walk to the main square and the castle of the city. The owners of the hotel are extremely nice and friendly. Impossible having better treatment with their clients. I would recommend it without any doubt.
Cons: I wouldn't know really what to improve. Maybe I would have to say that because we were in last floor, the noise of the birds above the ceiling walking all night and morning was a little bit uncomfortable. It would be just perfect if somehow this is solved to avoid birds just above the rooms.
Pros: The family room was good with a little loft area for the kids’ beds.
Cons: Service at the restaurant in the hotel was HORRIBLE.
Pros: Great location, just a few meters away from the beautiful Chateau Fort de Sedan. Great restaurant (food and wine)! Great service! Very kind staff. The triple room was perfect for a family with children like us. The kids loved it! It was also very nice to see a good working lift.
Pros: The breakfast was especially good. All items were of high quality from the breads, to the rhubarb preserves, to the cheeses (which were at the proper temperature rather than the frequently experienced straight from the refrigerator blocks). Coffee was especially good and had been brewed rather than coming from a robotic machine. I also enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice. The cheerful young women working in the breakfast area promptly cleaned the area and ensured a continuous stocking of the breakfast buffet.
Pros: Great location in the old quarter of town and close to the castle - quite fresh and modern inside considering its age, a nice blend of old and new. Very welcoming and helpful owner and staff, excellent good value restaurant with cuisine to Logis standards. Our room, though small, was spotlessly clean and very well appointed, parking for our motorcycle was willingly provided in a rear covered courtyard free of charge, overall generally a nice place to stay.
Cons: We were only there for one night, any longer and we wouldn't have been happy with the size of our room, which was on the 4th floor and quite cramped. Surprised to find the towels full of holes which didn't reflect the general standard of the hotel. Breakfast would probably have been comprehensive given the price but we only wanted coffee and croissant so we found an alternative cafe nearby.
Pros: The hospitality in de hotel.
Cons: Cleaning the other tables with chemicals during breakfest in the restaurant!
Pros: good breakfast - well located near the castle; we also had a lovely dinner.
Pros: It is in the old town, close to the castle fortress. The restaurant wasn’t open on Sunday evening, however we had a pleasant meal just a few steps away. There is free parking in the street.
Pros: It was a lovely location the room and en-suite was clean and tidy , it was a shame there was no air conditioning because it was so hot and we had to have the window open unfortunately this meant we had a lot of noise due to the fact we were right above the seating area outside the bar , great friendly and helpful staff and a superb breakfast
With a stay at Hotel Le Château Fort in Sedan, you'll be in the historical district, just a 1-minute walk from Chateau de Sedan and 6 minutes by foot from Sedan Botanic Gardens. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. Event facilities at this hotel consist of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Quiet and clean. Central for a easy walk down town.
Cons: We had dinner in the restaurant, Poor, I had Lamb well cooked but more bone on the plate than actual food, my dog would have been happier. Vegetarian choice poor. Personaly I would have welcomed a menu with a more traditional French cuisine, in keeping with the location. We didnt have breakfast as dinner was too disapointing.
Pros: Location, food!
Pros: Friendly staff, lovely location, the dog was allowed to stay in our room with us.
Cons: Pillows, where to soft, but that just us being fussy
Pros: Loved the fact that it really was located in the chateau fort. You could see the original walls. The kids loved it.
Cons: Regular rooms are quite small. Family room are big enough for a family of 2 kids. It was very hot and there is no AC in the rooms. Only a fan in the family room.
Pros: Everything Restaurant food was A++++++
Cons: Having to pay extra for breakfast so we didn’t have it!
Pros: Poor breakfast. No fresh fruit and tired selection at 09.00
Cons: Only complaint was breakfast
Pros: Great historic old building, beautifully restored inside. Nice restaurant on site.
Cons: No chips in restaurant, although I ordered a portion to go with our lobster and filet steak we were given a bowl of lukewarm, limp artificially coloured boiled potatoes shaped like chips that were a poor substitute. Surely chips should be the easiest thing in the world to cook!
Pros: Plenty of onsite parking. Feeling of security (fortress !)
Cons: Air conditioning in corridors only, not in room.
With a stay at Campanile Sedan in Sedan, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Louis Dugauguez Stadium and Sedan Botanic Gardens. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and an elevator (lift). Planning an event in Sedan? This hotel has facilities measuring 484 square feet (45 square meters), including a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Easy to find and the bed.
Cons: Dining room closed so no dinner!!!
Pros: The staff were very helpful and location.
Cons: bathroom was a bit dirty
Pros: Nice quiet location - just what we needed after a long day's travel! Sedan was a little off our main route to Switzerland, but we like Campanile & there wasn't much choice in this area. Breakfast and dinner were up to the usual high standard we have come to expect of Campanile over the years.
Cons: Nothing much, though an English TV channel would have been nice!
Cons: There was a restaurant which was unwilling to serve me at 8.30pm and I was told no food was available despite there being a full salad bar. Thankfully the receptionist found some bread for me.
Pros: Young woman at reception was helpful and professional. Plenty of parking on a tarmac car park
Cons: Air con not very good, restaurant closed, breakfast expensive for what offered.
Pros: Location in park. Good layout. Very friendly staff and this at € 42!
Pros: the quality of the food was good and the staff were all very helpful.
Cons: The location is bad especially to get there by cycle...there is also no where to eat nearby...your a captive audiance. The price of a bottle of water is ridiculous and the food is expensive.
Cons: Restaurant closed due to party booking,
Located in Sedan, Kyriad Hotel Sedan is within a 5-minute drive of Louis Dugauguez Stadium and Sedan Botanic Gardens. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Electrics failed. Noisy. Really basic breakfast. Could not turn television off. Hot room. Double booking.
Pros: Clean, basic hotel with everything you need for a stopover. At the reception they were super nice in accommodating the fact that we needed a really late check in.
Cons: Decor was not relaxing
Cons: shower (water pressure too low), small room, bad air within the room, no restaurant service, no bar, staff was not able to understand/ speak English (conversation per app?!), outside no seating possibility, no payment per card possible,
Pros: The lady on reception Morning 1 was excellent - we had no lighting in our bathroom the previous evening - and this deficiency she immediately and speedily resolved.
Cons: The young woman on reception at check in was not particularly welcoming and when I asked for a second pillow - arthritis and two artificial joints make this somewhat essential - the response was an immediate and an uncompromising NO. Why ? Because the hotel was full. When asked if might take one of the cushions from a lobby chair to bulk up the pillow the answer was again NO. We were so underwhelmed that when we discovered that there was no light in the internal / windowless bathroom we improvised with the torch on my Samsung phone rather than return to reception, hoping that we might encounter a more helpful and positive staff member in the morning. We are hoteliers and would not have employed this woman. The room was cramped - too small for a couple - the space was so tight that in order to open a suitcase you had to lift it up onto the bed. The room would have been okay for one person in a single bed. With high Summer temperatures and no air con or fan the room became a stifling overheated box.. We were unable to operate the tv. There were two remote controls, neither of which seemed compatible with the set, and there were no instructions whatsoever. Although the shower room had been upgraded to a good standard it was so tight on space so as to make using it something of a challenge. Our last hotel stop in France before returning to the UK some two weeks later, was at a Holiday Inn at Arras.. The room was three times the size, large fully equipped bathroom, air con, tea/coffee making facilities and in general all of a much higher quality. At a similar tariff The Kyriad in Sedan is very much overpriced and extremely poor value for money.
Pros: It was someplace to sleep & had free parking for the car.
Cons: Rooms were tiny & had excess furniture making it hard to move in the room & even less area for baggage. Saturday’s breakfast was okay but not worth almost 10 Euros. Sunday’s was worse (seemed like whatever didn’t get eaten on Saturday). Really far from anything (which is why we took the breakfasts).
Pros: The staff was pleasant. Room was small but clean, and I was able to take my dog with me.
Cons: It was difficult to close the room door properly. It looked like some people closed theirs the best they could, but they still weren’t secure. Also, even with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door, our room was made up. Breakfast was not worth the cost.
Pros: Tres bon bon. Nice clean room, helpful People.
Pros: staff very helpfull
Cons: no Wifi breakfast size of the room
Pros: It was cheap as I was passing through france and needed somewhere to stay the night
Cons: It felt bit run down and needs some money spent on it, bathroom is tiny being sat on the toilet feels like the space you have on an airline toilet
7.4 Good (196 reviews)
With a stay at The Originals City, Hôtel Le Coeur d'Or, Sedan Est (Inter-Hotel) in Douzy, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Sedan Botanic Gardens and Chateau de Sedan.
Cons: The staff was very unfriendly, even rolled their eyes at numerous times, while we were doing our best to speak French. No greetings, no thank you, no politeness. Additionally, there was a very bad odour in our room and as if dinner and breakfast weren't already unpleasant thanks to the unfriendliness of the staff, there was an invasion of flies. Flies everywhere, it was really annoying and if I may say, disgusting to eat in this condition.
Pros: Bed was fine
Cons: Very weak WiFi signal, shower was broken, continuous running of water could be heard in the room, dirty toilet bowl, soap machine broken, lady at check in didnt speak English.
Pros: The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. The waitress in the bar was lovely - I had a coffee and she heard my 2 children arguing about which one of them was going to eat the biscuit that came with it so she brought out a few more of them so there was no argument!
Cons: Maybe it was the language barrier but the man that checked us in seemed very abrupt and we didn't feel very welcomed. Very basic room, only 2 bath towels although there were 4 of us. The breakfast food was very nice but very expensive for what was available.
Pros: Really nice hotel excellent on the way to Verdun. Quite small village with not alot on over but the restaurant in the hotel is good. Good spacious rooms with good bathroom facilities. parking not a problem as there is amble space outside
Pros: No issue with place on the parking place.
Cons: Typical french breakfast - sweets, 3 types of ham and milk with cereals. No any hot food like eggs, bacon, beans.. WiFi was not working at all in my room. Receptionist is not speaking English.
Pros: Staff in restaurant, unpleasant, moody and arrogant.
With a stay at Chateau de Bazeilles in Bazeilles, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Sedan Botanic Gardens and Chateau de Sedan. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Really warm and friendly welcome and interesting building
Cons: Better quality towels and a soap dish in the shower would have been appreciated.
Pros: The grounds of the chateau were beautiful, and we could walk the dog safely and securely. She enjoyed this very much! The owner of the Château was very friendly and accomadating. Very quiet and serene atmosphere.
Pros: The location in the abandoned park of an even more abandoned château is romantic and quiet.
Cons: The breakfast corner looked so shabby and dirty at our arrival that we decided not to have breakfast here. The room was OK but all over the building there was a stale smell as if windows had been kept closed for years.
Pros: The property is located on the estate of the chateau which was wonderful to walk in the gardens or see the morning sun the gardens. Slept very well in the bed.
Cons: The property has lost its charm and passion for the hotel business. There was food from the day before in the breakfast area, papers under the bed, dirty couch in the bedroom, lots of dust in the room and common areas, etc. Let’s say a woman’s influence was missing in the general management of the hotel. If this would have been there, the arranged price would have been fair. It would be sad to see this hotel going to waste and that passion wouldn’t be restored. The chateau itself seemed to be under construction since a while but hopefully an investor can be found to restore it in its former glory and perhaps have the hotel based inside the chateau. We would have been more then happy to pay more for our stay if this ever becomes the case.
Pros: Very comfortable and extremely reasonably priced. Grounds are beautiful and Monsieur extremely helpful & knowledgeable, especially to recommend dinner as no restaurant on site.
Pros: Cosy room. ideal for what I was expecting for a night with my son.
Located 6 km from Sedan, in a small typical village called Remilly-Aillicourt, this hotel offers a regional restaurant, a floral terrace and a bar. Guests can read a book from the communal library. The rooms at La Sapinière have a flat-screen TV with cable channels. The private bathroom includes a hairdryer and free toiletries. A buffet breakfast is available daily and the restaurant on site serves local specialties such as foie gras. Packed lunches are available upon request. The hotel is situated 4 km from the train station and 8 km from Sedan Castle. Bazeille is a 5-minute drive away.
Pros: The hotel and the owner lived up to the best French tradition of a local bistro type hotel. The court yard garden where we eat was simply divine. The bedroom and en suite facilities were more than adequate. The set diner was outstanding on both nights that we stayed there. Also on both days we had a very good french breakfast and a very good french type snack lunch. We were travelling by motorcycle and the owner offered a garage for our use to store the bike before we had time to remove our crash helmets. The final bill was very reasonable and the staff very helpful.
Cons: the hotel is adjacent to a road which was being resurfaced,so there was some noise from empty trailers and lorries driving over the rough surface. This work should be completed very soon.
Pros: Lovely room, friendly helpful staff, very clean, in pretty village in lovely area. Excellent restaurant apart from my comments below.
Cons: I would have liked the choice of starter to include vegetarian and fish dishes. For example there was a choice between snails, calves brains, foie gras & Ardennes ham & rabbit terrine. Very traditional but if you were a vegetarian it would be difficult. Vegetarianism is becoming more popular & I think should be addressed by more restaurants. I guess if you were a strict vegetarian you would find it difficult to travel in France.
Pros: The diner and wine list extreem good.
Pros: Fantastic ambiance to the place. Very friendly and helpful staff
Pros: A typical, comfortable, semi-rural Logis hotel with a good restaurant and reasonable prices. Vastly superior to staying in the anonymity of a chain hotel.
Cons: Some rooms do look out over the road. It's not particularly busy but there can be noise if you like to sleep with a window open.
Pros: It is extremely friendly there. The staff is great. The food excellent!
Cons: we good a new room which was not finished. It was damp because it was new. On a very cold day we had to ask for a radiator. The main building could only be reached by walking through the rain. The bathroom is slippery. We should have been warned.
Pros: Dinner was excellent at very decent prices. Spacious, clean and comfortable room and bath room. Coffee/tea maker in the room.
Cons: Breakfast was average in comparison to an excellent dinner.
Pros: Spacious room and comfortable bed. It is a nice hotel
Cons: It took an hour from sitting down to dinner to get food. There seemed to be a shortage of staff. Breakfast items were not replenished one Croissant between 2 people for example.
Pros: Very kind stuff, very good breakfast and dinner.
Pros: Outside eating on the terrace. Restaurant food was superb. Free parking on site in small village in small hotel.
Cons: Our room was very small on the ground floor with an outside door and window but we couldn’t open either for obvious security reasons so no ventilation in such hot weather and no fan to help. However, this might have been suitable for disabled visitors. The breakfast was expensive at 11€ each.
