10.0 Excellent
Pros: Had a lovely stay. With yummy homemade sushi and great tips anout events going on. Would recommend!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Relatively cheap place to crash for one night
Cons: The guesthouse is situated at a busy intersection, you can hear traffic all night long and the pedestrian crossing light shines into your room if you don’t draw the curtains. I couldn’t feel the warmth of the host which many other reviewers have mentioned.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was toast & jam with a coffee...it was perfect! Loved it
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The nicest owner and the kotatsu are a gift from the heavens after a long rainy day of carrying around a massive backpack. The bedding was the softest, you get a convenient locker, and on top of it all the room is cute. Great base to start sightseeing in Gifu. Will definitely return!
7.5 Good
Pros: Owner really helpful and friendly. Guesthouse is a 10 minutes bus ride from station, but I could do all the sightseeing on foot from there.
Cons: Ladies dorm is separated from next dorm only by thin paper doors. So while I was alone in my dorm I enjoyed hours of chitchat and singing from a family with small children in the next room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was really helpful and kind. He very kindly offered to take me to my driving lesson the next day which was a far drive from the hostel. Very very grateful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly host, free breakfast, fast wifi, super clean.
Cons: There's only one shower so there may be waiting if there were more people. I had no problems as my schedule seemed to fit in around the other guests.
6.3 Good
Pros: It was a good overall experience since the host was really polite
Cons: the heat was not enough (winter time) and the house is quite old
7.5 Good
Pros: It was quiet and the loan of the bicycle was greatly appreciated.

Pros: Connected by walkway to JR Gifu station, very quiet, good breakfast, comfortable bed, standard Dormy nice public bath facility (indoor, outdoor, cold pool and sauna) with laundry machines, several coin-op massage chairs and a bookshelf of manga by the vending machines.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Onsen was great. Also the complimentary ramen was yummy.
7.5 Good
Pros: The onsen's and the sauna were wonderful. The best hotel onsen in my 6 week stay in Japan. The breakfast was also outstanding,
Cons: The rooms are disgusting....old broken and dirty. Next to the toilet was a huge plastic container full of liquid. When I asked what it was I was told it was water, if there was a problem with the toilet I could pour it into the tank! I immediately change my 14 day stay to 7 days!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its a couple mins walk from the train station. The hotel is linked to the station on a footbridge but it goes around and behind some office buildings before reaching hotel. So at night it might be better to exit footbridge at elevator Q and reach the hotel on ground level. What I really enjoyed about this hotel is of course the hotsprings. Also the washing machines are free to use (dryers are not free but only 100 yen per 20 mins).
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are exceptional, meet us in the carpark and transported our bags to hotel lobby and room. On departure as well as luggage transfer provided us with protection from the rain. Fabulous breakfast buffet.
Cons: Stayed at this hotel for the "Cormorant experience" didn't realise that the fishing is only a display and to view need to book onto a tour, not the fault of the hotel, should have researched more, as a result didn't see much at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Many choices. Buffet style in large dining room.

Pros: Good breakfast & comfortable room
Cons: none
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very Japanese breakfast, if you like that kind of thing. My family loved it, I was not a huge fan. Even though they lost power in the morning, the staff was very apologetic (everyone including the cleaning staff). They did not charge us for our stay. They also have a communal bath which my family enjoyed.
Cons: They lost power at about 4:00AM and it was finally restored at 8:30AM. This meant we had to eat breakfast mostly in the dark.
9.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room size and clean
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room with very nice river view
Cons: There is only one restaurant with limited number of tables in the hotel. As the staff has not reminded me to reserve a table earlier, I cannot take my dinner in the hotel. But there is no restaurant or supermarket nearby.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were very comfortable and we had a lovely view over the river.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful and the room was very spacious as I expected.
Cons: It was very disappointing to have to pay $20+/day/ person to use the swimming pool; especially since that was not outed when I booked the hotel online. Also the locations rating was 8.5 online but I give it a 0 as it was far away from restaurants and the train station. There were no other restaurants nearby at all. AND all the restaurants in the hotel were very expensive.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room
Cons: Food at the buffet for dinner and again for breakfast wasn't hot and needed refreshing more frequently.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms, foyer, free bikes and most of all, location. Two rooms had views over the Nagara River up to Gifu Castle and Mt. Kinka. Good gift shop also.
Cons: I would have liked my room to overlook the river and castle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Overall I was very impressed with the hotel. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The staff were exceptionally helpful and many were bilingual (more so than I have found in other hotels). The breakfast buffet was also very good and excellent value. I travelled by motorbike and was able to park my bike undercover, next to the main entrance (very convenient). The location is superb for both access to the city, the station and (if touring) to the mountains nearby.
Cons: My only critical comment would be that the room could have been better lit. During the daytime this wasn't an issue because of the wide window but at night time it was a little dark.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very helpful and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good! Selection of Japanese and Western. Both excellent. Staff could be a little more cheerful. Big hotel and nice walking path opposite. River view. Huge car park.
Cons: All good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the room ambiance and supportive staff.
Cons: The hotel is in a remote location and no near by public transport. The entrance of the hotel is little scary accessible. The staff doesn't know about the proper bill making.
7.5 Good
Pros: We only booked this hotel due to ending up in Nagoya unexpectedly (earthquake in Sapporo) and there was nothing else available. Despite our initial reservations having never stayed in a love hotel before we were surprised by how good the hotel was. The bedroom and bathroom were both exceptionally large and the breakfast, although limited, was very good.
Cons: The location was not ideal - about 18kms outside Nagoya and not served by a train or subway station. We had to take a taxi there which cost us Yen 6,500. It is probably best for those who have a car as the hotel has a large car park. In addition the air conditioning was quite noisy but this could have been our fault as the instructions were all in Japanese and therefore we may not have been operating it correctly.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy
Cons: Very far from nagoya
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Facilities, room size, service.
Cons: No English speaking staff. Food is ok.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great
Cons: Staffs cannot speak English
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast options were mostly Japanese though it was just about possible to put together a more Western style breakfast.
Cons: The room was on the side of the property and a bit dull. Having said that, we did ask for a quiet room, which it was. The hotel fronted a very busy road so rooms at the front would probably have been noisier.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a well located hotel, comfortable and clean hotel with professional staff. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was excellent! They were friendly and went out of their way to help me find a gym that allowed guests from out of town. They took the time to give directions and a map so that I could visit the castle, etc. The breakfast buffet was great; it included salad, fish, croissants, eggs, yogurt, and other items to choose from. The location was about a five minute walk from the rail station, and was easy to find. The price was reasonable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Parking was easy, also near the train station. Rooms were very clean, though our non-smoking room did smell like smoke. (not awful, but it was there) Beds were very nice.
Cons: A non-smoking room should not smell of smoke.

Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pretty decent view of Gifu including the castle peeking out over the mountain. I loved the retro aesthetic of the hotel which still looked like new, and original (local?) art on many walls. Staff were so helpful. I'd rebook!
Cons: There were coffee splatter stains on walls, doors, under the desk. Breakfast items even freshly bought out got cold quickly. Good range of food though. Particularly liked the omelette. so
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel rooms are the largest we have had in Japan, and we had a lot. The receptionist s an breakfast staff were very pleasant. The location is great, close to the JR station, busses and restaurants.
Cons: Breakfast was in a banqueting room with circular tables seating 8 and we had to share with several strangers. Also no safety box in the room was a disappointment given the quality of the hotel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Quite conveniently located. Near train station. Room size is decent and enough space to open up 2 large suitcases.
Cons: No response from hotel for queries / questions emailed to them. Perhaps it's due to language issue but at least a simple reply would be greatly appreciated.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with great view over the city, The location was great with a lo of bars and restaurants close by, the main things to see are walking distance.
Cons: All went really good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A very good and comfortable hotel in pleasant Gifu. Three stars but feels like four. The room was unusually spacious by Japanese standards, with a nice view, a huge and comfortable bed, and a full-size bathtub (another rarity). Staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was a little pricey, but good and with diverse offerings.
Cons: Need to figure out a way to keep those scrambled eggs from going cold in the breakfast buffet! Otherwise no complaints.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: It is very close to the mall and the room is super luxurious
Cons: There was a miscommunication upon checking in. In short, this hotel is for couples only. They may not allow single occupancy of room
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful breakfast Beautiful personal beauty products
Cons: I didn't realise it was a... Love hotel... No worries... Got the idea by the special things you could purchase in the in room vending machines!!!! The only thing was I couldn't turn off the ceiling mood lights and had to sleep with an eye mask. Had no sleep the first night... But thought it was funny in the end... Won't tell my partner about the experience though!!!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: we chose this place because of its close proximity to Gifu and to Inuyama for the festival, as Inuyama accommodation was sold out. Given that it was a love hotel, it was a pretty good place to stay if going to the inuyama festival or if going into Gifu city. large bathtub was great and the wifi was also reliable and fast. check out time was at 12 which gave us a good amount of time to sleep in after a long day roaming around Gifu-inuyama.
Cons: could hear couples in the next rooms (not enough to keep you up at night, but just enough to make you remember that it is a love hotel after all).
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing

Hotel Joy -adult Only - Komaki - Building
16
8.1 Excellent (102 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Komaki, HOTEL JOY -ADULT ONLY is within a 15-minute drive of Nagoya Castle and Nagoya City Science Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.5 Good
Cons: We didn't understand about their security system (for leaving and entering the room you had to inform the receptionist). And no one could speak English.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are plenty and have very diverse style from one to another (to suit different couple's tastes). But all of them are huge and well insonorized. Huge TV, huge bath/shower, coffee, tea and countless ameneties in the room. USB and 110V as well as all light switches by the bed!!! A REAL hotel room! Bed is futon on top of normal bed... big and comfy... Note : ONLY for "couples" or single business traveller. Privacy assured. Please note : Maybe hard to figure out how things works if you're not familiar with Japanese culture, (except at check-in, you're not supposed to see staff, and you gotta call before getting out of the room) but just don't ask questions about why this, why that or try to ask about where is the closest supermarket or tourist place, because this place is strickly business : Pay, *sleep/enJOY*, check out. Keep it simple. 'Gotta pay in cash and you get the change when getting out. AND : Conversational Japanese is a must. (Glad I am fluent enough!)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable place.
Cons: The bath is very small.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Joy is great value, the rooms are huge and well equipped, and staff are lovely. If you don’t speak any Japanese you might struggle to interact with them, but overall they were very kind and helpful. It’s in an odd location, but despite this, it’s surprisingly quiet. Drive there or take a taxi, as walking isn’t very safe (it’s right on a major road).
Cons: The bed isn’t comfortable unfortunately. It’s a Japanese style futon mattress, which is quite thin, on top of a box spring. It’s not the worst bed I’ve slept in, but if you aren’t used to thin, firm beds, you’re in for a shock!
