Nice, well furnished, comfy rooms. Professional staff. Good variety for breakfast.
Coffee maker not the easiest to operate. OK location. Difficult to find taxi but ready access to Metro. Not the most helpful concierge.
The location is great.
The hotel is modern and almost perfectly located in the Jing'An district of Shanghai. It is a 5 min walk to the Subway station and around the corner from a number of great eateries both Chinese and Western. Travel time to places like the Bund/Concessions and Financial District are less than 30 mins by Taxi even less by Subway. Most of the staff speak some English which was not always the case in other 5-star hotels in China. Concierge was well informed and more helpful than the average as well. Another reviewer mentioned that they didn't like the hard beds. I like the firm, yet comfortable mattresses they have.
All 5-star hotels in China provide you with two bottles of drinking water per day. Swissotel's bottles were actually half-bottles. This is really nit-picking but I couldn't think of anything else I didn't like!
Modern, clean and efficient. Good location and public transportation, such as the MRT Subway, is just a few steps away.
The main restaurant on the 2nd floor offers an excellent buffet breakfast with great international food variety ; however, the staff needs to be more pro-active to ensure an efficient service. On several occasions there were no tables available, not because they were occupied by other guests but because they were not clean. The waiters, seems to be waiting for something to happen because some of them are not pro-active enough, seems they are waiting for instructions, or maybe they prefer to remain in their "comfort zone".
Clean, Modern, Great Water Pressure
AC & Heater is very noisy (it won't allow you to sleep at night), Bathroom has see through window so no privacy from the room, beds are very hard, not enough plugs for computers, iPhones, iPads, etc.
Staff very available and kind; the hotel is quiet, close to shopping area and places of interest
Very comfortable hotel, superb attention to detail, very friendly staff
Clean & big room. Comfortable interior decoration.
Attitude of staff in reception isn't like 5 star hotel. Not enough hot water to take bath.
We had a very good stay in the Swissothel
I enjoyed the room and the facilities. Its very near most of the places I wanted to go to. Transporation like taxi and subway is so easy. I even took the subway from the airport straight to the hotel.
I did not like the fact that my room was at the back facing another building. Service have deteriorated through the years.
My original booking was for 7 days/6nights. I wanted to check out over the weekend and re-check in agin on Mon. I was informed that they cant guarantee a room for me and the new rates will be diff and also insisted on full payment if I checked out. Given the standard and quality of the hotel, this was really unexpected.
Internet should be free in the rooms given the room rates charged
I enjoyed the very nicely done rooms and the service is very good.
Suggest to put in more emphasize on food outlets and some music in the lobby cafe. Needs more life.
Location was great!
This is a great new hotel with spacious full optional rooms. Great lunch buffet.
The staff seemed inexperienced and slow at check-in and check-out. (Hotel had been open for 4 weeks). When I wanted to extend my stay, they came up with a rate that was 40% higher!
the rooms are excellent.
I didn't like the construction goin on and food needs improvement
