everything beautiful location, friendly staff, lovely accomodation
super quiet room, fine bed, nice surroundings
The pool was very good apart from the lack of cleanliness around the changing and shower area. Although the pool was good the lack of cleanliness around the changing and shower area was not very good. Food not as stated on the menu in the Zest bar. Breakfast was good but kept running out of food and orange juice so had to ask staff to sort.
Really good country location yet within easy driving distance to Leeds, Bradford or the airport; good public transport links; near to Dales. Staff very attentive and professional. Nothing
A smart, clean and tidy hotel. The receptionists were patient and polite and nothing is too much trouble for them. I didn't receive a confirmation email from this website
We found Hollins Hall in a delightful setting, very friendly and helpful and courteous staff and a lovely swimming pool. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean and we enjoyed our too short stay very much.
Thet was clean and very quiet at night, and in a very safe location. The breakfast was very good but being a buffet was cold
The hotel was attractive with a nice setting and our room was very comfortable. The food was also of a very high standard and the service provided by the staff could not be faulted.
Very relaxing in all areas of the hotel
A clean and pleasant hotel let down by poor services The hotel lost my booking, there was no Wi-Fi available in my room & the staff forgot to bring my coffee at breakfast. The papers din't arrive until I was checking out which is far too late. The hotel also tried to charge me for the phone call to the ISP to resolve the Wi-Fi issue.I've used this hotel a couple of times before but they do not seem interested in retaining my business. The hotel should have offered to reduce the bill because of the disappointing service but this didn't happen. I will be staying elsewhere next time.
Very nice stay staff friendly/helpful/tidy No free Internet
Very Good Location for visiting Saltaire.
Very clean.Staff friendly Continental breakfast a bit disappointing
I can't fault anything about this hotel. The service was excellent. The room and bathroom was immaculately clean, and the bed so comfy that I wished I could take it home with me! If I book a hotel in Bradford/Shipley in the future, it will definitely be this one!!
Friendly staff, good television set ice and drinking water available. Drains smell coming up from bathroom sink
The hotel was close to the venue of the event which I was attending. Attitude of staff, No water pressure in wash basin, barely enough to wet my toothbrush. I had to sit on the bed to read my book as there was no armchair, only an uncomfortable hard chair at the desk.
The hotel has a pub next door with very reasonably priced food. All week they do 2 meals for £10. Rooms are clean but bleak. Wi-Fi expensive. Not many TV channels as they try to make you buy more.
High standards of care and cleanliness and convenient location
Helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast not included in price - otherwise no dislikes.
The bedroom allocated to us was lovely. So different from your usual square, uniform hotels rooms. The wide corridors and peaceful atmosphere were very relaxing. Breakfast was excellent and the staff superb. A really nice experience!
loved the decor very hot in the hotel room
Good service. Lift out of order on day of check out.
This is a striking building very sensitively updated. The hotel is stylish without being pretentious. The food is excellent and the staff efficient and pleasant.
good location to venue i was attending room was clean and warm staff helpful food good good hotel
the rooms were very clean
modernised hotel, friendly staff
The decor and ambient of the hotel once you are inside belie the location. The staff were polite and helpful, which makes one feel at home instantly. Overall, a great value for money experience. The bathroom could do with some help. Windows gerally looked incongruent with the state of the room - looked a little outdated and dirty. Attempt at concealing it with blinds didn't seem to work!
The decore is too modern for a victorian building.
Friendly helpful staff, good facilities, comfortable nicely furnished room. Food in hotel bar was good and reasonably priced, liked art exhibition in progress.
The staff were friendly, the room was clean and spacious. I would definitely stay there again Nothing
My husband loved the size of the shower and the cooked breakfast in the morning,. Our bed seemed to have a dip in it, it felt uneven.
The room was comfortable and quiet.
easy to get to .... good location.... made use of the cinema ......
Convenient for the City Centre.
Hotel was great and we were very impressed with the city of Bradford
A bit basic in terms of facilities inside the room, such as toiletries
The hotel staff and services were excellent.
Room layout and bathroom
Good location and friendly atmosphere. Only 1 slight criticism - for myself and fellow guest breakfast was rather early and only available for a short period of time.
The room was very small and clean (but I booked the small room so the clue was in the title), the bed was comfortable and the TV, whilst small was actually bigger than the one I had in a 4 star hotel I stayed in recently. The proprietor was quirky and I suspect you either love him or hate him; I liked him myself. The bathroom was very clean and there was more than adequate hot water once I worked out the shower controls. I would stay here again and would suggest it to friends No tea making facilities in my room - to be fair it wasn't listed in the list of facilities supplied for my room. On the other hand this is the first small hotel/B&B I have stayed in for years that doesn't provide this. I would still use this hotel again.
Very helpful proprietor. Room nice and quiet despite being alongside a fairly main road Wifi was unusable for most of the evening, probably due to other guests "streaming" heavily. Bandwidth is not up to the likely demand.
bed wasnt very comfortable was hard mattress
Central location, easy to find. Large shower room. Piped music in guest sitting room/internet room; no mirror in bedroom - in fact no full length mirror anywhere.
Nice, clean, modern room, with flat screen tv. Comfortable bed and bedding. Unreliable wifi signal. Only 1 soap provided so bring shampoo. No hook to hang your coat or towel.
Convenient for the location we wanted to stay in, but nothing else worthy of mention here no teamaking facilities in rooms, and nowhere to make one.Owner thought we should pay extra for this
I had a very pleasant stay, the room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful.
i have stayed at this hotel before, friendly welcoming manager, my room was very clean, i had breakfast this time which i really enjoyed, i am looking forward to returning
Friendly owner. Good bus and train connections. Room a bit cold.
New, clean and comfortable rooms. Bar on the ground floor also very nice. Stayed on the 7th floor and had a great view of the city. No free onsite parking
Nice clean and well postioned Hotel Myself and my wife were kept awake until 6 o'clock in the morning due to the night club opposite, it was'nt the music but the noise of the people outside the club. On check out the reception staff did not seemed to bothered with our complaint. This reaction leads me to beleive that this a regular complaint at this hotel.
Room comfort The staff in the dining room in the morning ( had breakfast only) would need to be more proffessional, i.e. in serving and dress. Staff were friendly.
The hotel's location is excellent. There is NCP parking just behind the hotel with a good price for 24 hours car park. Nothing. Everything was above the expectation taking into account the fair price.
Comfort of room Cooked breakfast had obviously been on hotplate a long time and was not at its best
Good spacious room, good location, friendly staff, excellent value for money nothing really
good facilities good price
Staff were attentive and friendly. No lock on the room door, housekeeping just walk in.
Surroundings pleasant enough and convenient location. Resturant was way too expensive! £17.00 for most main dishes and not much on the plate. I skipped the £13.00 breakfast on principle. Also, when are hotels going to realise that £6.50 for an hour's internet use is not going to work?? Internet use should be included FOC.
easy access from motorway and excellent site for city visit.security for visitors is excellent. noise from adjoining disco club - fire alarm activated during night but no voice directions as to whether real or false alarm. either during ar after. early morning call not r[pt not received.
Efficiency of restraunt / bar staff minor details such as no soap in shower, TV remote batteries not working
the staff were friendly and helpful
The reception and bar area are lovely but the rooms are a little dated and basic.
Convenient for traveller, comfortable, friendly The Service in the restaurant was a bit chaotic , drinks arrived after the starter was finished...
You could use the Sauna, Jacuzzi and also the steam room included with the hotel stay. I didn't like the fact that a member of staff knocked on the door early in the morning (even though I didn't ask for a wakeup call) and then all of a sudden walked in by using her master key, untill she saw me and said sorry and walked out.
Location Too expensive, tv is very small, there was only 3 or 4 channels available on the tv, the shower was broken, the bill can only be settled by cash or cheque but we were not advised of this until we came to leave and were informed that we could walk half a mile to an atm.
We had two rooms booked.1 room was ok,but the other was very small, with a fridge that wasnt working, and had water in the bottom.we needed a fridge for my sons girlfriends medication,as she has to take it at diffrent time in the night.we had to put the medication in our fridge, which ended up with us not sleeping very well.As we were with a wedding party,we checked in but didnt find the problems with the room till very late.the next morning i had a word with the man at reception,i asked him to tell the manager, and that i would be back after breakfast to see what he said.I dont for 1 second think he even told the manager, and when i went to check out he just said we should of said last night.he never said sorry either. man on reception, small room.rubbish breakfast.
My requested 5.00am wake-up call did not happen - very annoying I had to check out at 5.45am - no-one on duty was able to check me out.
Well organised, friendly staff. One of the bars run as a pub selling real ale. Excellent breakfast. A much nicer hotel than 5 years ago.
Everything was really good. The hotel upkeep of the hotel has been excellent and I have no complaints. The breakfast was very good.
Food for lunch and dinner excellent lounge relaxing area to enjoy a drink Compared to the communial areas the room was very shabby Some restuarant service not up to standard
The greetings from the reception staff on our arrival, the bar man in the lounge was great to talk to and made the best salmon and cream cheese sandwich. They were polite and were just willing to help you whenever they can. Totally recommended!! The staff made the place in my opinion and the rooms were clean and comfortable - I do think that some 'touch up' on decor due to wear and tear is needed but that is not what we were there for.
the breakfast could have been better and the service
This is one of the finest hotes I've stayed in. It is very grand with a wonderful feeling of luxury and tradition. The interior, including the sweeping staircase looks stunning, like something from a bygone era. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as well as being extremely professional in their service standards. The room I stayed in was very good and was immaculately clean, as well as being very comfortable. I had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and I have to say, both the service and the quality of the food was top class. It has a central Bradford location which was ideal I was visiting the nearby Alhambra Theatre. Although I was only there for an overnight stay, I would definately recommend the Midland Hotel.
Room nice and clean. I had a room cloese to the main road and it was very noise.
The lovely large airy rooms and all the majestic qualities of staying in a grand Victorian hotel.
Good central location The hotel was as expected however I had booked two rooms and they only had one on record so this was frustrating, but reception quickly resolved the issue.
The location is convenient and the breakfast was decent. Does not match up in any way to the normal Hilton standards. They did not even have a toothpaste to give me when I had forgotten my own and made no effort to help me out.
Cit centre location room should not have been classified as super deluxe it was small
Food was very good and staff friendly Nothing
Good location in city centre. Staff were pleasant but some were a little inexperienced. Received wrong meal in restaurant. Location of the room was very poor. There was a water tank close by and you could hear it filling during the night. Also, there was building work nearby and jack hammers started at 7.30am on a Saturday morning. Not a good night's sleep!
The breakfast, the location and the expansive cityscape view from the window of my room and the breakfast room. The cleanliness and general dilapidated decoration of the room (e.g. dirty grouting in bathroom). Bar closed at 1030 and an outrageously expensive internet connection.
No record of my reservation on arrival! Fortunately, they had rooms available.
staff it seemed run down and in need of a refurbishment
Overall comfort and parking Unacceptably high breakfast charges
The central location of the hotel suited my needs. I thought the hotel staff were attentive, helpful and professional. I also appreciated the late check out time. The temperature of the water for my bath seemed to be stuck at 40 degrees which was ok but I was hoping for a long, hot and relaxing soak! The price of the wine and the coffee also seemed a little over the top (£9.70 for a large glass of Shiraz and £3.20 for a medium Amerciano). Otherwise, I was more than happy with my stay and wouldn't hesitate to book myself in at the Hilton again should I be visiting Bradford.
The Care and cheerfulness of the staff was a breath of fresh air. Thank you The bar closed a little early but thats fine as their were limited staff
booking out room, service in dining room, and hotel being on an industrial est
its was a very nice hotel,a nice surprise as so cheap as well.the breakfast excellent. nothing ,it was a brill place.thankyou.
The hotel is clearly under a refurb programme, and, In all honesty, anything will be a massive improvement on its current state. It was shabby, very dated, had faulty lighting, was not very nice at all...........
Staff were very friendly and helpful although I did not eat an evening meal, breakfeast was excellent. Good value for money all round.
Comfortable and good value
Excellent food and warm and friendly staff Wifi should be free
Very noisy toilets when flushed
Polite efficient staff. Good price for Triple room The fire alarm went off by mistake at 02:30 AM , sounded for 2 seconds and then was switched off.
Plenty of parking, good location for me, newly refurbished, good starting point.
location and price A bit tatty but in the middle of improvements, so should get better.
Friendly staff & excellent dinner Dining room was cold in the evening. Buffet style breakfast was not hot enough, but they never are!
Local and convenient. Hotel is tired and in need of a refurbishment. Bathroom was badly cleaned and the ventilation didn't work. Dust and dirt behind radiator. Bed was small for a double and the mattress was poor and lumpy
located just where we wanted.
I found the staff welcoming on check in. The room was a nice size , good condition and modern looking. Breakfast was lovely. Room was a little cold overnight but a blanket was supplied in the room. I mentioned this on check out and they said they would look into the heating
Room was in the old block and was in serious need of renovation. The kitchen air conditioner was very loud until turned off at 10.15pm..The wifi didnt work anywhere in the hotel. They lost the order of my colleagues meal and when reordered the lamb had to be sent back because it was uncooked. Then at 4am all the televisions in the hotel came on simultaneously and woke everybody up.Dont somehow think I will be back at this place ever again
Quality of room and friendliness of staff & free membership at Gym Initial confusion with double & twin rooms
Staff very friendly especially Ian on reception. The room service was brilliant good size good quality and hot! The rooms are alot smaller thant the picture (wide lense pic) The bed was too small for 2 even though a double. and the radiators were off in the morning so was cold. The hotel is not as lovely as it looks from the outside pics taken from the back "gothic style" is only a small part the rest 60's 70's style block! Dissapointing from the pics.
Cold room - heating barely got the temperature up to comfortable level. Overall temperature of hotel below comfort level with no heating in corridor to room. Dining room in the morning was cold thus ate food and got out as soon as possible.
Inadequate heating in the room, no heating in the bathroom.
A local real ale was available (very unusual in a hotel of this nature). The bar attendant that evening was cheerful and efficient. Turned up late for breakfast but the staff quickly and helpfully provided a continental breakfast. We were charged twice for our stay. Once when we booked the hotel room (£143, transaction date 27th August 2010, do not appear to have received an e-mail confirmation) and once when we checked out (£226.15, 18th September 2010). We were not aware of the first payment until we received our account statement yesterday. Please telephone me on: 01442 832672
The staff were unfailingly friendly and efficient. Also, the accommodation is very unusual -- my room was in a superbly built log cabin within the woods about two minutes walk from the main hotel building -- great facilities (free wireless Internet, swimming pool, gym) and sense of tranquility. The food is excellent too -- I ate in the bar and in the restaurant and both served reasonably meals of an unusually high standard.
The rooms were ok. Hotel is very dated, my shower did not work and breakfast did not start until 7.30 meaning that as I was travelling on business and had an early start I could not eat breakfast. They did offer some toast however.
Intimate, romantic, relaxing. Food was amazing as were the views and the room. No slippers in the room enquirer about them twice as they. Were on the booking. Only confirmed to me on checking out none available but got surcharge on room service escorted which made up for it. But a phone call or visit to the room with an update would have helped
Relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable pool and jacussi Poor service at breakfast opened jams at table not informed of breakfast routine
fair prices in the bar jack johnson music all the time. petty i know but it get to you in the end
It was a delight - in a great situation in the woods which made it easy for doggy walking. I and my dog were made to feel very welcome
The spa is great and the evening dining was nice. Lovely location. Room was shabby and in need of serious TLC.
The bar / restaurant Cleanliness and heat of room!
The staff were excellent as was the quality of food. Unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay and the roure tot he hotel from the lodges was waterlogged.
The total relaxation, the beautiful surroundings, the restauant was excellent and apart from the private hot tub not working on the first night everything was perfect.
