the noise of high street you can hear very clear in the rooms facing the street
This is a great hotel, in a charming town, with excellent facilities. The resturant was fairly priced and the food was fantastic !! Brilliant puds, and a good wine selection. Breakfast was also served in the resturant, and had an extensive selection of hot traditional breakfasts and cold items to pick at. The staff were all very friendly, and the room was tastfully decorated. We will make sure that we will be returning to this little gem.
very beautiful OldEnglish style Hotel - loved it ! French and Spanish personel very friendly - a nice stay !
The king size bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. There wasn't much left at breakfast in the way of cereals and fruit by 9.45 so went without.
I thought the hotel was was very welcoming the staff most helpful. The servive and range of food in the bar waqs very good. it was alswo a building of character which we liked I though the timing of breakfast and dual locations a little confusing and the dining room breakfast ended to early.
The hotel was great for the business traveler. Warm and local feel not plastic and corporate.
Food could have done with a few vegetables
Dinner and breakfast in restaurant was excellent and well served. Rooms, which were in rear part of hotel, were clean but pretty basic!
Good atmosphere and staff friendly. Would have liked bar to stay open later and definately felt uncomfortable at the end as staff clearly wanted to lock up and go. Early closing in bar for residents
Good breakfast, staff friendly. Afternoon staff not especially familiar with points of interest-but wifi available. Fair value for cost. Nice sitting room first floor with pleasant patio. Walking distance to many restaurants. Would book again-if traveling alone Thin walls-easily heard tv from other room-loud for heard of hearing guests til 10:30.
Friendly staff, excellent food, brilliant location due to proximity to the Cathederal.
Excellent hotel in the city centre - lively pub atmosphere and great food. Thought the room that was allocated was outstanding and spotlessly clean Car park is difficult given the size of the hotel but the staff worked hard to help us throughout the stay so no real issues
Excellent hotel & location. Free parking. Quality restaurant. Whole experience felt unique. Very good staff. Complimentary mini bar.
Well located near to the Cathederal and the hotel had parking available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Probably just that bit too expensive
Excellent breakfast, friendly staff The common parts of the hotel were a bit "pubby" and not to the same standard as the room or the food
Staff extremely pleasant and helpful.
Very comfortable room with nice touches - fresh coffee, milk. Friendly courteous staff, excellent food.
Very homely and comfortable bar with friendly staff and a real buzz from the crowded bars.
Excellent city position. We were not offered toast at breakfast.First breakfast no butter or marmalade on table no real coffee served .
Personable and helpful staff (all). Eclectic ambience of all public rooms in main building. Dinner and breakfast. No children. We stayed in the St Georges annex; very comfortable, but lacking in soundproofing - the us guests who arrived back at 04.00 banging doors and generally making a racket will surely forgive me (after 4 hours' sleep) when I got my own back at 08.00 ... May be a tad over-priced.
Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs. Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner. No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details. The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
Relaxing and very central for shopping. NA
the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old. Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful. No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
location The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Staff were over streached on the Friday evening but sill managed to provied a professional service and a smile. Room was clean and well presented.
extremely friendly and warm staff not applicable
Lovely room. Very friendly staff. Excellent service and breakfast We booked very last minute and they didn't seem to be expecting us. Bar menu fairly plain. Evening food ok but not brilliant.
Very friendly staff, rooms are individual and to a very high standard. No bad points.
very good food is fab
Excellent stay in a well apponted room. Very good food. Ideal for a quiet relaxing stay.
It was very good value for money. The room was clean, nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'd stay there again. No complaints at all
Smart rural dining pub with food above normal pub standards The rooms are up a narrow twisting stair which is awkward with large/heavy cases.
The view from the window - very picturesque the noise from people leaving the bear fest - we didn't realise when we booked that there was one going on.People were still outside our window calling a cab at gone 2.am. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. 45mins for a cold hardboild poached egg !!
very nice old building hotel prices for b&b standard.
The Location was superb being close to the town centre and the cathederal but not in it. too many stairs for an oldie
a very good room and a good breakfast
The friendliness of the welcome
location room dirty small bathroom particularly bad
setting room was below expectation and could benefit from more attractive make over - bathroom fittings old
I liked the atmosphere I did not like the fact that it was gone 2.30 before we could get any sleep due to the noise in the bar and people coming up to their rooms really late next time if there were not any rooms on the top floor i would have to go to another hotel.
More of a country inn than an hotel which suited us perfectly. Cosy, good beer, good food, good atmosphere, waking to beautiful sunrises over the mill race and river. The weather was very cold and the resaurant, with hardly anyone in it, could have been warmer. Dinner served on cold plates.
Friendly, clean, comfy. Good location. Wifi in rooms rubbish, blinds in rooms need dusting, noise from street is quite loud.
Clean, updated rooms Good food in restaurant Staff are for the most part pleasant and helpful when they're able to be. Way too many stairs Room phones don't dial out wifi signal is absolutely terrible.
