It's located right next to Central CityRail Station, as well as bus stops, which made for easy trips around the city. Haymarket was within walking distance, too. You could easily hear the noise coming from the hallways, especially from noisy and rude occupants.
Good service Perhaps the noise level from the streets
One of the best hostels you can go. Clean, well organized, big kitchen, awesome roof terrace, fantastic location and still peaceful enough to have a good night.
The room, the shared toilet and bathroom are very clean. And the bed is very comfortable, big and clean. Even there are enough lockers in the room for all guests. The best backpacker hostel I have seen so far. And the price and location are really good as well. I stayed in a six beds room. It was really hard for me to sleep well, especially there was party in that night. People came in and went out all night long. The door made such noise, including the toilet door.
great location! no toiletries were provided.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, ready to answer any question. The other guests were fabulous and great to talk to :) The internet service was slower than dial-up. I also didn't like having to pay for a towel ($4 + $10 refundable deposit) or to store my bag for an hour or so ($5).Other than that, everything was great.
Although our stay was short we thoroughly enjoyed The Observatory Hotel and would not hesitate to stay for longer next time.
Heaven on earth does exsist ,it's The Observatory Hotel Sydney.Staff, facilities all supurb maybe the bed could be improved with a feather topper as a standard .as it is in most 5 star
Very helpful staff and excellent food and beverage service and facilities; very well located in an interesting and historic neighbourhood
The people, the views, the comforts
The high tea and staff - Problems regulating the shower -didn't adjust quickly -the room had features like a shop..... Prices on everything....not a good feel for a luxury hotel!! The hotel's site advertising for nye led us to believe there was a special allocated spot on Observatory Hill for guests - we were disappointed
Staff, remodeled rooms, attentiveness Nonsense harbor views, poor front entry for valet, chicken salad from room service was disastrous.
We had a complimentary upgrade to a harbor view suite. This room was outstanding in every respect. We had a light supper served in the bar. Excellent service.
I particulary liked the quiet efficiency of the place - i5t ran so smoothly. No
a comfortable hotel in a quiet area but within walking distance of the main attractions
Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast Comfortable room.
Good location, friendly staff and clean building Wifi should be free for hotel guests
Good location and modern facilities. Homely feel
Reception staff very ordinary. Too expensive and didn't like having to pre authorise additional payment of $100 that I was told would take up to 10 days to be credited back to my card.
Great room, with excellent view on Darling Harbour, and a spacious balcony. Very good value for money.
luxury comfortable serviced apt. in the center of sydney city. walking distance to Darling Harbour and Museum and chinatown and of course the biggest shopping mall on Pitt street. Another 35 mins walking to fish market was enjoyable too. except the refrigerator was a bit noisy during the night.
Very nicely set up. We ended up in a two bedroom apartment (we paid for a one-bedroom) so we had plenty of space. 42nd floor. Elevators were excellent so no delays. Will stay there again (depending on price). We found it a little bit noisy (from the ground - not from adjoining apartments). Just single glazing. Not a major problem.
Convenient. I forgot my tupperware container and the staff asked me to wait for the lost and found report back to him made me wait for more than an hour. The result made me unsatisfied as I was the person who sit there wait for an hour and then still need me to go and ask them to remind that I was still waiting for their reply.
We liked its proximity to shopping and eateries in Darling Harbour
The hotel charged USD 50,00 more than the price I had booked. I don't know why an offer is announced if you have to pay more when check-out. I consider that it is not a fair play because an offer sometimes is decisive when you book some hotel.
Clean, tidy, nice color of the furniture, sercurity card to get in lift, wonderful smell of the lobby!!! No toliet in the lobby; no patient of the reception worker when I was calling the reception for a comb.
It is close to Central Station It's a dump!
You can't beat the location for convenience to Central Station, and a great range of bars and restaurants within a short walk. It's nothing fancy - no lobby or other amenities, but rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced. The WiFi can be slow, depending on your room location and proximity to a router.
The hotel is in a great location, right beside the beach and the centre of Manly. Some of the hotel facilities are in need of update, and although it is clean there are things that look run down, e.g. the bathroom in the rooms.
The motel was fantastic, we had all our requests met quickly and efficiently and the staff followed up on the one problem we had which was intenet connection . We will be staying there again it was great
Excellent location -- handy for beach, walking, ferry, shops and restaurants. Would be ideal for the jazz festival. Only a stone's throw from the beach, and the sight of the full moon rising over the waves was lovely. The room was spotless and quite large, and very comfortable. Although the room was "oceanview" it's more accurate to describe it as "pine tree view with ocean glimpses", as there is a row of large pine trees running the full length of the beach. This of course is not the fault of the Sebel. I knew about the trees so was prepared, but it could come as an unpleasant surprise to someone expecting full unblocked views of water and beach! Oddly, none of the ceiling/wall lights seemed to work, though all lamps did.
Location Few room service food options / Noise +++ Fri and Sat evenings, affecting North Tower
We had a wonderful stay and were very lucky to be upgraded to the Penthouse 2 bedroom apartment- it was great for a girls weekend with all the luxuries a self contained apartment, 2 bathrooms, very comfy beds and pillows and a wonderful ocean view with whales playing out to sea- wow!!! Great location, very friendly staff- Thankyou. Having to go home.
Location near train station and buses, light rail, connection to ferry. Staff was relatively friendly and helpful. Exterior of building is dilapidated and the wood and brick structure is giving off very pungent rotting smell. This is especially noticeable when you open the window. Room is very small. The bed took 60% of the room space. Almost no space left to place luggages. Room vacuumed once every 3 days, and there were dusts everywhere, especially when there was construction work going on leaving dusts and particals everywhere. From elevator to the room, must pass a flight of stairs causing high difficulty for moving heavy luggages. Floor was slopping unevenly between elevator and stairs, a distance of maybe 10 feet in length. The price is way too high for such poor facility, even though they renovated the rooms and bath. Instead of having spring hing at the door jing-joint, they place a lever spring at the door top. And the right closet door bangs on the hing, damaging the closet, and eventually the lever-spring for the front door. All and all, very unpleasant experience for such an expensive place.
Awesome location; close to CBD and Central Station. Surry Hills is a great suburb, lots of amazing cafes and bistros. Very friendly and helpful staff. Thorough room service; the room was left spotless every day. Great room and facilities. The breakfast from Basket Brothers wasn't great. It was grossly overpriced, and didn't taste that great either. I recommend going elsewhere.
Location This is not a hotel. It's a 1 bed flat (with old style carpet) and definitely does not feel like a high end hotel. Wifi never worked in 4 days despite repeatedly asking to have it fixed. I asked for a plug adaptor and was told to go and buy one (whilst other hotels in Australia always had one for foreign travelers). Breakfast 3 to low 4 star. There are plenty of nice hotels in the area. As a accor platinum card holder as decided to stay there. Never again,
Friendly and helpful staff. Saturday night traffic outside is somewhat noisy.
Ease of access to Darling Harbour Noise from streets.
The staff were really helpful and very welcoming.
Easily accessible to the inner city at an affordable price.
Its closeness to Darling Harbour and the city. One of the toilet seats wouldn't open and close properly.
I really enjoyed the breakfast and breakfast room and the time to linger, the history of the place, the location and proximity to shops restaurants and the bus to the coast (Bondi), The key front dooer was appreciated and the homely feeling Room was very small, a table for the kettle would have been good rather than the floor (proximity to plug an issue) gap under door meant I was woken both days, no blind on window also meant woke with light. quilt was old and needed replacement but bed was very comfortable and nicely made. A little table in the ensuite for toiletry bag would be good rather than the floor. Only one coat hanger made it difficult to hang things.
Fantastic! A++ service, staff and facilities. Charming room, very cosy but fine for the two of us. Great character, highly recommended
service was the best i have ever had, the staff where very friendly and helped us with everything we wanted. no hot water in the bathroom sink
I have significant dietary needs and the hotel staff looked after me very well. The room was nice - air conditioner was fantastic!! The location was great. It was a really positive stay and I would return Lugging a suitcase up stairs!!
Location is good, breakfast is good, but some items wasn't available at 8.30 already Bathroom is very ordinary, dosn't reflect the price which you pay for it.
The location was very good and breakfats excellent with attentive staff. I t was good to have an outside area The room (36) was too small
city trip sightseeing and shopping The bathroom window was not closed properly.
Staff communication was good. Great breakfast. N/A
the location, the atmosphere, the nice beds morning staff was a bit lazy
the staff were exceptional, breakfast very good, rooms cosy and comfortable. The location is excellent. n/a
The sheets were nice! The shower was toooo dark and flooded the room when you used it. The hallways were very dark. Room was kinda small.BOOKINGS Online - we booked thru you but when we got to the hotel, they could not find our reservation even tho your site gave use a confirmation??????????
Great bar, friendly staff, clean room and great atmosphere. After paying for my room, I was asked to leave a deposit of $100. I have never done this before and found this to be annoying.
I loved the location of the Kirketon. Darlinghurst is an amazing neighborhood. The staff was friendly and their bar is convenient. Their boutique look made this hotel stand out amongst the crowd. Near the Kings Cross subway line which can take you almost anywhere in the city. Also the local coffee shop down the street is great. The rooms were very small. Very tight fittings if traveling as a couple.
Location is excellent and the staff extremely helpful. Facilities are adequate. Lights in the room could be brighter.
1. The web site overstates the quality of the rooms. They are very tired. 2. We ordered parking, but it did not eventauate despite being emailed that it was ok. 3. The air conditioning did not work. 4. The bathroom was not clean. 5. The staff were not very interested in our problems
Close proximity to nightlife lack of parking
A great-value hotel in a fab location. It was clean, very tidy and modern and had everything we needed. The sound-proofing between rooms was a bit limited.
Lovely customer service. Its nice to see that for the cost of the room that there is still great customer service. The stairs. But thats because im lazy. :)
The cocktail bar out the back was nice and the staff were friendly The rooms were not upto boutique standard and therefore it was quite expensive.
The Hotel was very central and a good price for the location. Management is friendly and helpful. This Hotel is definitely not a 4 star Hotel. It was a good Hotel to stay in, but if one is looking for 4 star service, forget it. Cleaning of the Hotel rooms is not upto stardard. It never got vacuumed for the seven days I stayed and a sticky liquid that leaked from the fridge was not cleaned for the duration I was there. Room service a takeaway from a local restaurant that the receptionist delivers in boxes. Nice if the Hotel had less stars. I feel I was misled. Only recommend this Hotel if your looking for a basic and convinient city Hotel.
Room is large, location None
Very close to City2Surf. Good hotel. Their exit survey took too long! (the hotel itself was great)
Location was great. Good value and would definitely go back.
It was well positioned for Hyde Park. The elevators were fast. Taxis were easy to obtain I felt the staff were only superficerly politem and I felt processed according to the hotels needs.
The hotel is cosy and location is ideal for longer stay in Sydney.
Pleasant staff, easy check in, parking and check out.
The exercise and pool/spa facilities where excellent I thought the breakfast menu could of been more simple food (ie. toast plain/ cerial etc) cost also for breakfast food could be a more economical.
near to everything I stayed with my grandchild and her other grandmother who came for the first time to visit her. unfortunately my grandchild had an allergy and had to be taken to hospital. I just checked out after just one night and was charged for the whole day. the room was just cleaned when we had to leave. the hotel should not have charged me for the full day * i was destressed and unhappy paying this large amount for just one night!
Great location. Nice comfortable room. Friendly staff Little bit noisy earlier on. Pub downstairs a bit drunken
Quiet and easy access to central station. Clean basic rooms. No frills Ventilation could be better in bathroom but not offensive
The fact that we were so very accessible to all forms of public transport, the lovely location of Surry Hills with its beautiful, tree lined streets and many eatieries - all within very easy walking distance of the hotel. Also, the fact that. despite being on a busy road, we could hear nothing of the traffic, trains or public. The room was excellently maintained during our stay and staff very hospitable and friendly, We loved it and would happily return - soon!
it was very close to the "central station" there was a strange smell in the room. internet service not available. noisy during the night
Closeness to city attractions and Central Station. Everything was fine. Parking a bit of a hassle - but no great drama.
Very good (spacious, clean) room. Room was close to the bar, where party lasted till 4 a.m.
Excellent position for city stay and right next ot Central Station. Excellent bar and TAB facilities. Good value meals. Room fairly plain and dark. No remote for the TV.
How friendly and helpful the staff were
The staff were friendly and helpful, the bistro was good, was very quiet considering rooms were above a hotel Exterior lighting shone directly into the room at night
Convenience to venue that I attended, clean, surprisingly quiet, good food Bit basic and tele was hard to work with remote but this is minor
The location, the luxurious setting, drinks at the lounge and the most comfortable bed ever - what's not to like?!
Very friendly staff, ideal position, excellent facilities. Enjoyed stay immensly and the staff could not have been more helpful.
First class ,5 star rate but better Location on Phillip St. within easy walking distance to all attractions - shopping to sightseeing this hotel must be in the top 5 quality hotel in Sydney. No
I liked the central location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and warm. I found it rather surprising that internet was not complimentary as it is a 5-star hotel. The last time I visited Sydney I stayed at Raddison's which I believe is a 4-star hotel and found the stay there on par with Sofitel, a 5-star hotel.
Bed was comfortable. A/C in good working order. Nice size bathroom. Appreciated the toiletries, the fridge, the safe. Excellent lighting both in room and bathroom. It was a bit disconcerting to find hairs in the tub after the room was cleaned.. The desk chair could use refurbishing.
There were loud noises in the morning from the room above and when I called the front desk on multiple occasions I couldn't get an answer, then received a rude explanation that it would be investigated but the noise contributed. After a $2,000 stay, I left a file and was charged to have it mailed to me. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for ease of stay, but it is clean.
The location was excellent. Very close to all the tourist attractions and to the cities history.Service was good.
things were acceptable for what i needed, there was nothing there that made me happy i stayed there rather than some place else. for a "5 star" hotel it was missing quite a bit. no spa, no pool, restuarants were really just bars with some tables. the staff was a bit snooty. everything in the room and hotel are for sale, and pretty much makes you feel like you are sleeping in an ikea catalog.
Rooms were very nice as were they lobby and bar You need better wifi access and it should be considered a basic service that you provide
Hotel lobby! Terrible breakfast! no restuarant in the hotel! no swimming pool!
