helpful, friendly staff. Great breakfast & pool no rollaway beds available External hallway door did not lock, due to parts on back order Was locked out of my room several times, due to faulty door lock. Even maintenance couldn't get in with master key
It was really nice and the jacuzzi was very relaxing. It was close to downtown, so very short drive to everything. Breakfast was fairly good with scrambled eggs and a make your own waffle stations. Staff was very quick to help clean tables and take care of empty plates. The bathroom had some pink in it, but we brought it up to the front disk and they cleaned it swiftly. We were glad that they were so quick. The only other complaint is that we're there on a hot week and the A/C couldn't keep up.
Clean, affordable, great breakfast and pet friendly.
Great breakfast and very friendly staff!
My husband and I stayed here just one night. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean, the breakfast wonderful. We could hear the door next to us in the other room creaking and the water running.
Staff was friendly. Old, run down, looks remodeled from exterior but rooms are small, noisy and have that Febreeze type odor. Not a good value for the money.
My only complaint was that the bathroom fan was so loud. I was going to request a different room, but was told the fans are all that loud. However, they offered to disconnect the fan for my stay and promptly did.. This totally solved the problem! I was quite pleased with the simple solution. Also, the breakfast buffet has improved since being bought by Country Inns & Suites.
The staff was so friendly. And the room was big and comfortable. I loved that they had hot breakfast and the hot tub was great.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They helped us with late check in, they had a pack n' play waiting in our room upon arrival, and even made us extra bags for breakfast when we were late in the morning. There is a lot of room for a family and having an extra space for eating and a refrigerator was helpful.
Spacious room, clean, everything functioned well, staff very friendly. Nothing to complain about. Amazing value for the price they ask.
Location, cleanliness, cookies and excellent continental breakfast.
Very clean room, helpful & friendly staff, and great breakfast!
Clean, large room. Nice bathroom and shower Our room was near a busy section of hallway it seems and was occasionally a bit noisy.
We had Avery spacious room with bed and couch. the view was of Beach and it was nicely decorated. Would have liked more fruit and containers of yogurt at breakfast.
Excellent facilities with a lot of family things to do. Every little things cost money. No free breakfast.
Family room was comfortable with older children. Room did NOT smell clean nor fresh and housekeeping single attempt did not fix the odor. Extra charge on stay was corrected and still does not make me eager to return.
The water area was not a big as some other locations, IE no wave pool, fewer slides, but enough for our kids who are 6 and 9, not to be bored during our two day stay. Upon arrival, the lineup to check in was ridiculously long with only three employees working the desk. Both the male and female locker rooms smelled terribly and we're absolutely filthy. Guest services, once they answered the phone, could not care less. Rooms were run down but the bed was comfy. The pillows felt like old bricks. Trying to reach front desk was like playing a shell game: unwound call, they would eventually answer, out me in hold, I would get frustrated, hang up, call back, and this went in for three different voices until I finally went to the front desk for help. Cleaning ladies were great!
the staff were nice. For the amount we paid for the room I was expecting more high quality. The room was clean and updated but the sound proofing was terrible. The room size and bed just ok. And the bathroom fixtures didn't work well. The beach was well maintained but the beach chairs were uncomfortable and not good quality.
Although we didn't have a beach view room (by our choice), this place is still super great and offers you plenty of opportunities/activities to enjoy the beach. Bed was super comfy. Staff was overall pleasant, pool/hot tub area is great AND offers an adults only enjoyment time from 10pm - 11pm. Even guests were super friendly and engaged in warm conversations with us. Would definitely recommend. Other than the inexperienced guest service receptionist when we checked in (she sent us to the wrong part of the resort but later found out by housekeeping staff that she was new), everything was to our liking.
Beach was nice and views were beautiful. Staff we're very, very friendly and helpful. Way too many bugs around the patio doors and my daughter was terrified they were in the room. The breakfast set up and selection was less than ideal. We ended up getting food out.
I had a place to sleep. The junk fees at the end of my stay.
Room, hot tub, pool and view were lovely. Staff was very nice.
Great location, everything you could want. Didn't stay long enough
Beachside/waterfront king room was awesome. Comfy bed, small couch, refrigerator and the best views. The breakfast bar was more than enough to start off your day, not the same as a meal out, but it worked! Hotel was full, and when kids started running through the halls the staff responded quickly. We stayed in the fall, and would like to return in the summer to really enjoy this great location. The only downside was the difficulty in finding a parking spot when returning to the hotel late at night.
Location, view, room, accessibility were all very good. Getting a call from the hotel the day before and asking me to call them and confirm my reservation. Thought that was unnecessary since the room had been prepaid. Additionally, I was in Canada, and incurred international charges to return the hotel's telephone call.
We like the location, close to many activities. Hotel clean and employees warm and helpful. We have stayed here multiple times and have had a great experience each time! Thank you!
Very comfortable and plenty of room. Even though we were there in November, the location was awesome because of the view of the bay. We were not affected by it, but not having an elevator has the potential for being a big drag.
The Shower was horrible. The bed was way too soft. The decor needs updating. We actually went to another place the second night
The whirlpool tub in the room and the excellent view. Breakfast had few options. Pool claimed to be heated but really wasn't.
We got a great price on this hotel and I was super surprised the quality for what we paid. The room was beautiful and the balcony right on the beach was great. We were very happy. The one negative was that I found the hotel to very 'noisy' which was a bit of a letdown as we wanted a quiet/relaxing getaway on the beach. The leaf blower seemed to be doing work all day (or we were just coincidentally outside the times work was being done on the property) which kind of killed the romantic quiet beach view mode. And our room was right across the hall from the maintenance closet so first thing in the morning we could hear staff talking loudly right outside our door, keys jangling, people talking through the staff radio, the trash being dragged back and forth passed our door, etc. It's not a HUGE deal, but it was a bit of a mood killer.
We came to Pointes North Beachfront Hotel for a short getaway after our wedding. We love northern Michigan and were expecting great fall colors. Even though we did not get that on this trip we enjoyed it just the same. The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the beachfront view of the bay and our balcony. The chairs on the balcony were great for evening stargazing. The hotel staff was friendly and were right up when the batteries for our remote control went out. This is a great place to stay and we cannot wait to come back next year. The room layout was a little awkward. Also, the breakfast was not very well advertised. In fact is was not until we left that we were aware there even was a breakfast provided.
Room was very clean, the view and staff great the facility a bit worn but it is an older building and to be expected Nothing
This area of Traverse City was hit by terrible winds the night before our arrival. Phones, electric, internet, and cable were all down. Dan called from his personal phone to let us know about this disaster the morning after it happened, which was the day we were to arrive. Several trees were down on the property. Glad we kept our reservation, though. Room was great and electricity was back on when we got there. Internet and cable were restored the next day. Can't remember all the names of the staff we talked to, but everyone was very helpful and pleasant.
location They had some wedding guests and they were partying in hallway till 2 am. Complained to front desk 2-3 times, they didn't do anything. So noisy and annoying.
Staff was friendly and efficient. View was fantastic. Rooms were very nice! Breakfast was of mediocre quality. Price was quite steep for a 3 star (it is an honest 3 star however!)
Very clean room and convienunt. the clubs were rude on more than one count. not real welcoming.
Breakfast Lack of fridge
We stayed here while we were in Traverse City celebrating our first wedding anniversary. The staff left us some wine, a box of chocolates and a very nice hand-written card for our anniversary. The staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean. The room we stayed in was very spacious with a view of the lake. The hotel is right across the street from a nice lakeside park, which we would have enjoyed if it was warmer, and is just a couple miles from downtown.
Quiet, comfortable even with sports teams staying. Staff was gracious and accommodating. Breakfast was just so- so. Staff needs to not talk about each other negatively around customers.
Comfy enough beds. Working elevators. It took forever to get our rooms ready. Early check in there is at 4p and we were placed in a different room other than our original around 530p. The AC was laughable. Water pressure was not unsurprising.
We met up with family (9 total with 3 rooms) in TC for an overtnighter and enjoyed our stay. The lobby area was plenty big for our group plus other large parties to gather together. We had stayed at this HI in August also. Our favorite place to stay while in TC. We had 2 queens this time and compared to the king we had last August this bed was not nearly as comfortable. I was telling everyone how nice their beds were before booking but was disappointed at how wobbly the frames were. I think they need a little updating. Our room also had a funny smell (like stale bodies) when we walked in so I got out my orange scented essential oils and that helped. Overall, the rooms were fine.
it looked like they just did a remodel, new bathrooms and a nice desk area to plug in a laptop. The location was excellent, across the street from a park on the lake and just a few minutes' drive from downtown. We went in the winter, the parking lot did not look like it was plowed at all, and they disabled the front door due to the cold, so we had to go around to the side doors. The bed felt like a springboard - every time one of us moved, the other one woke up and we both suffered sore backs during our stay. There was a terrible woman at the front desk who thought it was ok to treat guests like crap as long as she called them "honey"
The Location was perfect. We didn't go to the beach but it is literally steps away. We were told that we'd have a 2PM check in time, we didn't get in our room until 2:30PM. The room was not clean; dirty wash cloth in the tub, dust on all woodwork, floors not cleaned. The TV didn't work when we got into our room and the maintenenace man said that is very normal; happens at least 15 times a day. He did fix the TV, but then when we came back at night, it wasn't working again; we didn't bother to have it 'fixed' again.
The place was nice. Only complaint is the elevators and bathrooms in lobby could be a little cleaner. Otherwise great staff, great place to stay. Nice location and wonderful breakfast, clean rooms. Nothing.
Breakfast was reasonably good but the facilities were cramped. Rooms were WAY TOO SMALL and lacked adequate heating/cooling. For the price I would find another place as this was adequate for the needs but certainly nothing fancy.
friendliness of staff at check in and checkout, the room To much chlorine in pool
Clean rooms, nice accommodations, continental breakfast was better than any other I have experienced, staff was wonderful, great hotel location compared to beach and what not. No mini fridge. We were having a bachelor party weekend... how wasi supposed to keep my beer cold??+
Beautiful hotel and great rooms/facilities. Was on 2nd floor on bay side and the road noise was so loud I couldn't sleep once morning traffic started.
Nice hotel and decor Issue w/ bathroom. Had a strong urine odor. Staff a little "stuffy" especially at the front desk
We just got back from staying at the Cambria Suites, and we delighted with the updated decor and comfort of the hotel. We stayed two nights, loved the pool and hot tub. Had some noisy neighbors, but the management quickly relayed the message to quiet down and they did. Travel alot, certainly would recommend.
Super amenities all over the room. 1st class room feel. Real ceramic coffee cups instead of plastic. Unlimited free coffee in the am. Very fast responding service desk. Great pool and hot tub. Loved the lobby with the huge fireplace and 50 inch tv over it. Two hd lcd in the room. High def everything. Bed was a touch dissapointing. Only improvement I can thing of is to have some memory foam beds. Even the best pillow tops are no where near as comfortable. Would gladly stay again. And will plan on it.
It iw a wonderful hotel, very clean rooms and we are planning to stay in January for skiing.
Everything about this hotel is top notch. The decor and furnishings are upscale, stylish, expensive looking, and very comfortable All the comfort touches and amenities are special. The very reasonably priced breakfast buffet was superb. My husband had the best veggie omelet he's ever tasted, made to order- oooh and the bacon!!! The hotel's free shuttle service took us to and from one of the wonderful restaurants in Traverse City for a great dinner featuring locally caught fish. The staff was very warm, unpretentious and eager to please. It was perfect in every way!
This hotel decor is very modern, room was clean and large! Too many kids jumping around to enjoy the pool or hottub, so we did not enter. Breakfast was around 8 dollars and was very very good. I would def. stay here again. Close to almost everything driving distance, although they did offer us a free shuttle to downtown.
I booked a room at Cambria Inn and Suites of Traverse City because I was in the middle of final exams for college and needed some peace and quiet. I checked in and asked to be put off in a corner where it would be the quietest. They did exactly that. I managed to complete an 8 page final paper as well as 2 other papers in the 14 hours I was there, had a great night's sleep, the food from the restaurant was amazing, and the service was fantastic. The hotel is only about 6 miles from my house, but I think my husband and I will go there for a night next time we want to get away!
What a wonderful new addition to Traverse City! The hotel is clean and comfortable and the suites are the perfect size for a family visiting the area. The restaurant and coffee bar were nice. The breakfast was yummy, but a tad expensive.
This new hotel was clean and parking was accessible. Staff was friendly and helpful with quick check in and check out. Small but adequate fitness room and pool. Thought that breakfast was included but it
The staff was friendly and informative. The shuttle service was a GREAT plus. This was our second stay and we would definitely return when in the area.
I travel to Traverse City on business and normally stay at the Cambria. We have on occasion stayed at other hotels but I prefer to stay at the Cambria. It is always clean and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is very good. The front desk employees are very professional & accommodating. I would definately recommend this hotel to others.
Bed very comfortable. Great view from room. Club music could be heard through the floor. Could also hear people talking/ TV's in other rooms.
Location and outdoor facilities. Whirlpool not easily accessible. Hard to get in and out of
Great location and nice amenities. Great food and beverage options.
The facility was clean. The bar in the back was nice and the beach. The room had a refrigerator which was nice. The cable TV was better than most. Expected a bit nicer room since the cost was quite expensive. One night it was very noisy on our floor pretty much all night. It was difficult to walk to downtown even though it was close by as there were really no crosswalk or light in front of the hotel to cross the road.
All of the amenities are great, and the staff was awesome. I was looking for a place to plan my proposal before heading out on a wine tour with my fiance and it turned out that the hotel itself was the best option. Several members of the staff went above and beyond to make sure that it went off well and was a great experience for the two of us. We really appreciated it, and I would definitely recommend this place.
The lobby was attractive and modern.Hotel has lovely lake views. Restaurant had good menu, typical gotcha prices and glacial service by a waitress who preferred talking to serving. Everyone ( party of 7) was happy with their food, but we did know our servers life history by meals end. Well, guess by the title of this review what was wrong. If you get room 230 you will be treated to whatever cooking smells are being vented from the kitchen right into your room! Bacon, French fries, chicken all smell good but not for hours on end! Our ONE request on Kayak was for a QUIET room and we received an email assuring us we were in a quiet section of the hotel. They did not mention that we were going to be surrounded by tournament hockey players screaming in the hall at 5:00 am and setting up slap shot nets in the hall.
The location was perfect right on the water and very close to downtown. The nightclub had a DJ and was a nice place to hang out. Everything was very nice however the view from our room was crummy which wasn't a huge deal.
Staff was very nice and always accommodating. Also the pool and spa was open until 1:00 AM.
Affordable, quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and the location is great for visiting downtown Traverse City.
I'm becoming a frequent guest at this property. Family events in town have caused me to return several times and I've come back to this Knights Inn each time. I guess that's the real test, right? The rooms are squeaky clean, the beds are comfortable, the pillows are nice, the staff is friendly and I don't think you can beat the price anywhere in the area. And, after several visits over a few weeks and staying in different rooms, I can say that it's a *reliably* good hotel, stay after stay. Same high level of cleanliness and friendliness every time. Stay here. It's a nice place.
Very clean! Nice staff. The pool was getting redone. We weren't notified this ahead of time so it was a really big bummer. Also the rooms could be updates a little bit (lamps, bedding).
Whole property is squeaky clean and well maintained. I was in town to visit family and just needed an economically-priced place to lay my head for the night. I got a nice room and a comfy bed with good-quality Internet so I could check in with the office and get some work done. If you want a clean, friendly hotel that's inexpensive, this is it. I highly recommend it and I'll be back.
Our room was so clean that I had no reservations about letting my little toddler touch til her heart's content! What a value and a gem for the money. I secretly don't want the secret out about this place. We will be back! A tad bit of road noise but not bad.
Stat here every time we are in Traverse, it's a great value for the money. Staff are super friendly, rooms and bathrooms are clean.
Location Not a good value for 150.00$ quite plane room111 the bathroom door had a big hole in it! No one in this type of business should neglect keeping rooms decent. I have no plans of staying there ever again. Nor suggest that others should either! Correct the problem or lower your rates!
Good value. The place was clean. Some wear and tear here and there. But overall, clean and a good option if you're lust looking for an inexpensive place to sleep after spending the day out kayaking or golfing.
The front desk staff were very helpful and gave us advise about things to do in the area. It was very conveniently located to the "main strip" of Traverse City.
Price was reasonable and good location if passing through Traverse City. Our mattress was really "firm" so not very comfortable to our liking. Breakfast was all carbs, bread, waffles, toast, cereal.
Tidy, smelled fine Crappy shower, small bathroom
Clean property, friendly staff. Good location. There were no negatives in this hotel that we could find.
Absolutely nothing! Everything!
Standard issue 2 star chain hotel. Clean, and only cost $35/night during the January (OFF season) when there are tons of rooms available at every single hotel in town. I was surprised at the low rate, but granted we were there on a winter weekend during a snowstorm. :) It's a bit of a drive to the downtown breweries and bars, but not too far.
I was impressed at how nice and clean the room was for the price we paid! I was worried it was going to be a hole but I was pleasantly surprised! Pool and spa too which unfortunately we were unable to use. I would definitely stay here again and/or recommend family and friends to stay here. The tub only had two safety strips on the bottom. The other two were either worn off or missing somehow. It was a bit dangerous to take a shower with it being so slippery.
It's clean...good for a night.
A fine motel for the price, what you'd expect for the money
Location. View. Helpfulness of staff. Parking convenience.
Close proximity to downtown. The shower was very poor, bed was hard and no blankets.
Pool area is really cool and has good hours. Staff is helpful. Beds are fantastic. Not many kids running around. The beacon bar on top floor of the hotel is great and offers one of the best elevated views of the city. There isn't much to "not like". The nightly rate is a little steep and I think that the restaurants prices are a bit high.
Location Clean Dated decor and bathrooms
Clean. Comfortable. Walking distance to downtown.
I was double charged by kayak and the hotel. Kayak was not helpful in getting this fixed. The hotel is finally refunding the 2nd charge after 4 calls to different staff members
Right downtown. The decor was depressing and the room was poorly laid out.
The location is perfect. The lobby is very nice. The room had an extra sink area which was a welcome surprise and quite nice. Newer TV The beds were too soft. The bathroom was a bit small and the tub/shower could only be used as a shower. For the main bathroom sink you couldn't get the water even cool - odd
We have stayed in 8 different hotels within the Traverse City area, including other large towers. However, this hotel had by far the best: -staff -views -location to downtown -onsite amenities -onsite bars and restaurant (food was amazing) -overall cleanliness -vintage feel I can only hope writing this will help people choose this establishment. Was a higher cost than other local hotels, but was easily worth it to us.
Beautiful historic hotel in downtown Traverse City. Walked to shops and restaurants. Clean room and reasonable price. Hotel restaurant service could have been better.
We stayed in the historic tower and I loved the old charm. It is nicely renovated so you didn't feel like you were in a 100 year old hotel room. The windows are huge and offer a great view of everything around. The finishes were nice and the bed was comfortable. My husband complained constantly about the cold bathroom. I accepted this as part of the old charm, but the bathroom was very chilly.
Awesome, friendly staff. Super clean rooms. Comfy beds. Good continental breakfast. Perfect location. Cheap price for an awesome hotel. I stay here everytime I come to TC
The room was clean and spacious. Not a bad weekday price. Breakfast was sad. Cereal and bagels? Seriously? Matt at the front desk refused to allow my emotional support animal even though I had official medical paperwork. Told me to leave my small chihuahua at home because I don't "need" him. He said he could do a seeing eye dog but not my dog. He told me the owners would have his job. And told me that I could find another hotel. Are you aware that is a crime? You cannot refuse my service animal. It's against the law.
Clean room, nice bathroom, quiet. Only complaint is the poor choice of breakfast food.
Breakfast area could offer a lot more items than they have.
Clean, nice big shower, good supply of towels, decent sized rooms, good location, quiet setting. No soy milk for coffee.
Very nice lady desk clerk No rooms away from parking lot, no fruit or hot entrees
It was close to downtown. The room was clean. The lady who checked us in for our stay was incredibly rude. We gave her no reason to treat us like she did, but she had a bad attitude toward us and said some offensive things. Although everyone else I dealt with on the staff was fine and there was nothing wrong with the room, I will NEVER stay here again due to the way we were treated at check in. She even put a note that housekeeping had to check our room before we could get our deposit back because she assumed were were going to trash it. We got the full deposit back after the room was checked because we did not trash it because we are not Trash like that lady treated us like we were.
