It's a hostel, cheap, full of various people (often in the mood to party) and, surprisingly, spotlessly clean at that.
I found no good space to sit comfortably, eg. for a skype call to the other side of the world. And I'm probably too old for hostels these days in general, which is not a particular problem of the Wake Up!, but in the nature of shared dorms in hip places in general.
Location great, room was very clean, very friendly helpful staff.
A glass in the room to have a drink of water was expected as a minimum however, tea making facilities would have been nice.
The staff was amazing
I stayed just a short time in Sydney and needed a place that is close to the public transport (connection to the airport as well as to the city). The location full filled this expectation. I got a room in the highest floor which was also a plus because it had lots of sunlight coming in.
I travelled to Sydney in July (winter) and was quite surprised that my room didn't have any AC for heating or cooling (if you come in summer). It wasn't cold but still it wasn't too comfortable. Also: All the power sockets in the room and the hostel are for the Australian plugs for which you could buy an adapter at the reception. I know it is just a hostel but having no USB-charger connection inside the room is not very up-to-date. Yes there are sockets in the reception area but they need forever to charge your phone. Noise: I stayed in the last floor of the building and could hear the traffic/construction work from the outside in the morning. The hostel provides earplugs for the inconvenience - I didn't need them though.
