It was very upsetting on checking in that although I had given my credit card number I was told that it hadn't been passed on for payment. My friend travelling with me then had to produce her credit card for payment.Although I had a couple of phone conversations with staff this was never pointed out to me. The receptionist was quite rude giving us the impression that we were quite stupid.
very convenient to the city and transport lack of bedside table, small fridge and TV
So close to City and China town No Tv in the room
Cetntral location, cheap, many facilities no
clean toilet and shower room
Meeting new people, it was a great way to do this because I was alone. I have made so many friends who I still miss now. I was also able to change my room at around 8pm at short notice because I was not happy with some of the people in the room. That was brilliant. Manager was very nice. Most of the staff were rude, apart from Sam - she was really nice and kind and down to earth. Most people said she was the best and this is the truth. Every single other staff member treat people differently, some do not even smile at all, no joke. Some staff do not know anything, I ask them something and they will say 'ermm I dont know' without trying to find the answer. Some of the people who stayed at hostel were also not very nice, but most were nice. I was also in a room with a group of 5 girls for 2/3 nights which was horrible, because I was in a 6 dorm room, so basically I was by myself and they done what they want because they were all in a group together and didnt care that they kept me awake all night.
Central location - everything in walking distance. If you're on a budget and in party-mode then this is the place for you. What set me off is the cleanliness & smells of our room - very unpleasant. We had an ensuite bathroom and well... you get what you pay for.
This hostel was in a good location. I asked for a 4-person female room and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the room had our own private bathroom. That was awesome. If you are of the crowd that does not go out all night to party, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are many people at this hotel who like to party and you may be sharing a room with them. Other than that, the staff is great and the rooms are great, it's just for the younger, louder crowd.
Fun staff, clean dorm, and had an awesome time. The elevators suck.
The location was brilliant. The staff were very helpful and approachable. The cost for a fa mily room was very reasonable. The beds were rock hard!
they had a female only dorm with a private bathroom. The beds were extremely uncomfortable - it felt like i was sleeping on the actual springs without covering! The light for the bathroom was not working and when i confronted the reception staff the couldn't replace the bulb because it was a 'maintenance' issue (didn't think you needed a certificate to change a light bulb). It was still not replaced when i checked out which was well and truely 24 hours later.
nothing insalubrious rooms
hanging in the lounge area, meeting new people.
The hotel is located at great location, very near to the famous Chat Thai restaurant, near to Market city and China Town. It's also a short walk to Queen Victoria Building, Town Hall station, Central station. U are able to walk to Sydney Opera House too. Air conditioner/ heater is a plus. Also, the price is very affordable in such a good location. The room's facilities is very poor, everything is old and not good looking at all. There is no towel in the toilet so make sure u prepare one yourself. The family room we are staying in is ok but the beds are very uncomfortable. It's a hotel for backpackers so families with kids would not feel completely comfortable here.
The location was great for getting around the city - very noisy in that part of town though. Well ... it was what it was ... a cheap place to stay. Pretty rough and loud. More suited to younger backpackers out to party.
Comfortable beds No elevator, smelly refridgerator
I didn't realise it was mixed dorms. The locker in my room was broken so I had nowhere to put any stuff that was safe.
the room was clean and we could see the nice view from our room, which was great. I wanted you to put any sign on the fire-escape door. Because I was locked out and could not get back in.
1. Too noisy, everynight was noisy, someone was singing and waked me up at 3am in the morning. 2. bathroom is dirty, have some blood marks on the washing bowl.
Living right on Pitt street where the Chinatown and Central Railway station are just 2 streets away totally allowed us ultimate convenience to go anywhere we wanted. We had to climb the stairs to the 2nd level with our huge and heavy luggages.
It's in a nice area, and within walking distance from some nice places. Half of staff was helpful, the other half was not. The value for money is way off, and we even decided to book another hotel. A (partial) refund was not even considered.
Location & nobody bothered you. Toilets & Bathroom were disgusting. Women's Sanitary bins were overflowing.
Staff - The guy in Reception is very helpful. Cleanliness is poor
The room was clean. The "reception" area stank of cannabis smoke. The girl demanded payment in cash (which I didn't have) before I had seen the room, then charged an extra $2 for payment by Visa, reading my card details to her "boss" over the phone. The street noise made it impossible to sleep in the room at night, even with earplugs. One window had no curtain and wouldn't shut properly. The hot water took ages to come through and the cold tap in one of the communal showers didn't work (ouch!), and there were no plugs in the handbasins. In the middle of the night I found teenagers getting dressed on the landing. This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in (worse than the Petit Palace Italia in Madrid, and that's saying something).
Very helpful staff, single rooms are well isolated from each other, bathrooms are outside the rooms but they are regular bathrooms with a door that locks and they are very clean. If you take a single room, it seems you are in a low-budget hotel whereas it is a hostel. Some problems with the curtains, fridge and magnetic cards, but nothing the staff couldn't fix. In my first room I was near the air-conditionning system so the noise was unbearable but I have been able to change room. It's a minor detail but I have always struggled with the curtains.
