I liked the breakfast. We didn't like hearing the fire alarm go off at 3am in the morning & standing outside. Management & guests were very polite...they think someone was smoking.
better than expected for type of hotel soap dispensers in bathroom
The fact I could still get a smoking room.
easily assessable in the process of being refurbished. no notification until you arrived
After the fire alarm in the middle of the night and the chaois during the breakfast, leaving The breakfast conditions
Good parking - near to motorway - clean no drawers to put away underwear - in fact all clothes had to be hung on a wall unit which looked very untidy
was great for a quick easy overnight stay the pull out sofa for the children was amazingly uncomfortable, wouldn't have wanted to stay a second night
Helpful reception staff, pleasant decor, in very good condition. Good comination of being aboe to open windows and air con
Good location for my trip down to St Ives area, good stop of point going and on the way back up. Very comfortable, quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the breakfast. Clean room, big asset, would stay again.
Clean comfortable and helpful staff heating
Location.Comfortable room Pretentious expensive not very good dinner.
Nice old hotel. Brasserie so-so. First breakfast one small butter (wrapped) for 2 people!! Both breakfasts no plates"!!
staff attention to detail and care was exceptional nothing was too much trouble service in all areas was outstanding there was nothing not to like
The breakfast was excellent
Reception desk staff very welcoming and helpful. ditto staff in the Brasserie. a very good meal there too The bathroom extractor fan did not work, we were rather disappointed in this.
Excellent service & restaurant
The Castle Hotel is a stunning beautiful historic Hotel situated in the heart of Taunton, very convenient town's pubs and restuarants and in particular the Somerset County Cricket ground. Room were a bit small. Not value for money.
Service and style of the Castle Breakfast
The hotel is ideally situated in Taunton. The bedroom was very comfortable with good flat screen tv. Booklet describing places of interest to visit was most helpful. Breakfast excellent, evening meal too fancy - prefer plainer food.
Very good service, excellent room The restauarnt was shut, not aware at the time of booking.
Peaceful, quiet, very relaxing. 10 minutes from motorway but did not feel like that. Elegance of the dining room, meal etc.
Great hotel, great and convenient location It will be even better when the building work is complete.
beautiful surroundings. dinner over priced.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and all the facilities in the room worked well, we were very comfortable! Breakfast was also very nice. None.
Comfortable surroundings Every thing was excellent
Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with four poster bed, nice garden views, good flatscreen TV and beverage tray. Location was also excellent, and plenty of parking - just a few minutes walk into the town. Poor quality breakfast - limited choice, and all ingredients tasted poor quality - like a job lot of Tesco Value items. Reception and shared areas all rather dark and unwelcoming - need a facelift. Overall, not particularly good value.
The cleanliness, the breakfast, and kindness of the staff.
Very friendly staff and quiet stay.
Got a upgrade
Better room than expected - including ensuite
friendly and hellpful staff
Comfortable and friendly Our room was a bit disappointing when we saw those of our friends for the same price
getting out of the car park!
nothing to find your room was like a maze and the room was far to small
The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had No room service. The bedhead was a piece of wood attached to the wall - very uncomfortable. Weak shower only - would have liked a bath and unable to specify that with the on-line booking. Very noisy generator.air conditioning system (?) kept me awake till midnight and started up agin at 06.00.
The staff were absolutely terrific - very natural in their approach and extremely willing to help
Young very friendly staff nothing too much bother Only one small thing bed Queen size not double
The location was excellent for the town centre We felt that the room could have been bigger
i liked the locality, and the service there at the bistro was excellent
The alleyway in and out of the parking is atrociously narrow!! Just look at the wall you know how many cars had scraped along it! Very uncomfortable to get in and out. Also the stairs ! No lifts! Very inconvenient when you have large luggages.
Price was reasonable Rooms were unacceptably small
receptionist/trainee manager was helpful in reallocating room when the promised central heating repair had not been carried out by 21:00. coffee was disappointingly weak!
Very enjoyable stay. No bad points
Very quiet at night - comfy warm room.
No major problems with room We chose the hotel as we were visiting relatives in Wellington. We were totally unaware that from Wellington we had to drive 15 miles past the hotel to the next junction to come back on the correct lane. 2 wasted trips of 30 miles each
Very comfortable, clean room The Sta Nav took me up very narrow country lanes late at night, rather than direct to hotel
It was quiet, clean and comfortable. Facilities in the room were good, beds comfortable, plus there was the addition of the facilities in the service station ie shops and restaurant. The staff were pleasant. We found it very good value.
Comfortable quiet room No wifi in hotel
Value for money, size of room, ease of booking and check in, car parking Heating (mentioned to reception),quality of food at the motorway service centre both for breakfast and dinner
The convenience and friendly welcome The fact we had no hot water during our stay on the coldest night of the year so far! We received a full refund but that doesn't really make up for the lack of the most basic facilities. The question is would you ever book into a hotel that didn't have hot water? The staff were polite and helpful and clearly trained well but as a family of four with two under 10 yrs on a cold November night the lack of hot water was a disgrace.
Ease of use and friendliness of staff Needs to update TV facilities
Nice room The inflexibility of the owner who when advised that I would be arriving at 10.00 seemed to think that this was a long time to stay up. Bearing in mind the reason I usually stay at a B & B is because I am not finishing work at the usual time. Breakfast was also served at what I consider to be the late time of 7.30 when I had to leave by 7.15
Very friendly and accommodating
very comfortable clean and well kept. staff helpful and friendly no free beer!
Brookfield house offered a warm welcome, clean comfortable rooms with free Wifi and a fantastic individually cooked breakfast which arrived prompt and hot. One of the best value Hotels I have ever stayed in.
Friendly welcome. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Slightly disturbing traffic and pedestrian noise at night.
Road noise. Curtains didnt block out light from street lamps. No sleep.
Friendly home from home stay. Well kept clean room.
Excellent location both for visiting the town and for the countryside
Location is excellent - a few minutes walk to the town centre. Spotlessly clean and well kept. Well cooked full english breakfast served with lovely china crockery. 100% recommended.
Great location & ease of use.
Friendly staff made the whole family welcome. Children enjoyed the pool facilities. We used the hotel as break point for journey to South West - could do with breakfast starting earlier on Saturday to enable early get away before traffic builds up.
The staff were absolutely magic, very kind and helpful. This is so important when you are disabled. Although the food was good and adequate i would have liked a wider choice.
Good location with easy access to the motorway. Service in the Restaurant was very poor. Family rooms were too small so I was glad we were only staying for two nights. For the cost of the room I won't consider this to be good value for money. I have stayed in Holiday Inns before and even though this was sold as a ?family room? It was simply a standard room with a pull out bed in it which didn?t leave much room for anything else!
our room was on the ground floor s we didn't have far to walk with our grand daugher.
We had a family room and the bed for our son was a pull out sofa bed which I do not have an issue with but the mattress was paper thin. It was so uncomfortable.
Excellent leisure facilities - room really nice Narrow selection of dinner menu
The receptionist on arrival, and the the one poor waitress, that was actually caring for the people she was serving Having to prompt the bar staff as to what should be in drinks. Having to explain what "overcooked" was to the 2 front of house staff in the resturant. Having to put up with young children, totally out of control, shouting and screaming and running around the bar and reception like a bunch of screaming dervishes, whilst trying to relax after an extremely long and arduous drive to the hotel.
We thought that the breakfast was excellent the value for money and content was really good however the food which we purchased over the bar in the afternoon was a disappointment and very expensive considerng the quantity and quality Improvements to the garden it is very bland and not particularly inviting to sit out in the rest of the hotel is very good and cleanliness was particularly good.
Food numerous stairs, no lifts
Very clean and pleasant staff. Unfortunately, we had a leak in our sink in our bathroom which we had to clear up, and the TV was not tuned in correctly. It did not effect our stay.
Found the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent bedroom, bathroom a little on small side but adequate in size. Both bedroom and bathroom extremely clean and comfortable. Public rooms were beautifully decorated and homely. Food - first rate. Outside garden was a delight to sit in. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Nothing comes to mind.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful The bar closed
The atmosphere and the comfort of the beds. I missed not getting a face cloth to wash my face, but understand this is not standard in England.
the cosy atmosphere and pleasant helpful staff
In a nice village in easy reach of Taunton. Good breakfast and the serving staff were friendly and helpful. The property was fairly well appointed with a pleasant garden. It was apparent that the owners preferred "business customers" rather than casual trippers.
Staff provided excellent service and were very helpful with directions and local info. Great Breakfast.
The room was extremely attractive and comfortable. The owners were very pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. It is very handy for us as we have relations in the area.
staff were friendly, courteous and professional. meals were very good. very quiet, peacefull atmosphere
All good really, except below Bed too small
Owners very helpful and welcoming
Very good, unintrusive service. Absolutely fantastic master bedroom suite.
Great comfortable beds, fantastic place for a break Not enough hot water, No room service and an 8am start for breakfast means not perfect for a business traveller
Comfortable and well-decorated in traditional style. The small lounge with open fire was a particular feature.
The room was adequate with clean linen. It was a quiet undisturbed night and the best bit was leaving in the morning. The poor attitude of the staff to my objection with regard to the Autumn Saver price which had conditions which were not easily seen on the booking information and appeared in the small print on the booking confirmation and not in clear context. I subsequently discovered on leaving that another guest had failed to see the qualifying conditions and upon reading other guest's reviews I also find that we are not alone in our mistake. Given that this has been brought to the attention of the hotel previously, and there does not appear to be an attempt to make the qualifying conditions of special offers clear in the booking process, I wonder if this is a deliberate policy to deceive guests into booking by attracting them by offering a low price
The hotel was extremely comfortable and welcoming and the only member of staff we met was very helpful and accommodating. It was beautifully appointed with lots of unusual features. Meals were good but we felt over-priced,especially the breakfast.
The room was very nice and comfortable The meals were heavily laced with pepper every time!
The warm welcome from attentive and helpful staff stayed with us throughout . Such a comfortable bedroom and same with all the public rooms.
+ Points Good location.
Great small hotel in lovely grounds. Easy to find, quiet and very friendly.
Nice room small portions for breakfast
Comfortable, good breakfast and very clean and wel presented
We were made to feel very welcome and the standard was above the 2 star rating.
Nice friendly and efficient service at breakfast. Excellent parking and well situated The time I had to wait for my evening meal as it was cooked to order nothing was prepared
Good cooked breakfast.
Quiet and friendly
Central location with large car park, high standard of room
warm welcome by your staff beautiful hotel setting
the proximity to the City Centre.
The hotel offers good, helpful service, comfortable rooms and a very good breakfast. Good all round value for money. It has a good central, convenient position to the town and good facilities. Would certainly recommend. Nothing. Second stay there.
Clean room, comfortable bed and decent pillows - oh and quiet.
