Had to have my key cards reprogrammed four times in three days. This has been happening every time I stay at this hotel. I keep my cards in their sleeve and from any electronics but they still fail. This is getting very annoying especially when I leave my room to go to the workout facility.
I LOVED how sophisticated everything looked. From the bathroom to the bedroom. The vaulted ceilings added to the luxury. All of this for an amazing price of 89 / night! Nothing! It was one of the best experiences I've had up to date. Compared to la quita, I can't believe I paid an extra 10 dollars to get luxury in my room at windgate
Overall not a bad hotel. Rooms need some TLC and updating but was clean, water was hot w decent towels Took returning to the front desk twice upon check in for room keys to work and again later the next day they didn't work. Finally said just give me new keys.
The first room smelled the second room wasn't too much better. The linen for the sleeper sofa wasnt clean. The throw at the end of bed was dirty. The dresser had some sticky subtance on the top. Roach crawling on shower wall. Hotel just nasty and smelled like mildew/mold!!! I want a refund!!!

Decent clean place to stay for a night. Bed was very comfortable. Air stopped working in my room and they immediately got me another room. Certain things in the room, door handles, molding around the bathroom counter, light fixtures are starting to fall apart and needs attention to keep this a decent hotel. Other than that, no complaints at all.
The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel and Spa was an unexpected special treat for a one-night stay between destinations on the way to a business conference with my husband. This beautiful restoration/renovation deserves particular attention and is a real bargain when compared to similar accomodations. There were two lovely wedding receptions in progress when we arrived at a late hour, with guests spilling out into the lobby and around the entrance. It was obvious why this would be a popular choice for such celebrations - and our guest room felt like a honeymoon getaway, too! The parking was easy, the staff was gracious and in-room breakfast was delicious. A very special treat - we wish we could have stayed longer and will most definitely return if we get the chance!
Battle House has the air of an historic property, and after the recent rennovations and additions, the overall experience has only gotten better. Highly recommend.
The hotel is nice & clean. The front desk check-in staff were fast and friendly. Room was clean and nicely furnished. Luggage carts are @ a premium. For ease and speed of check-out we had to carry all of our stuff by hand. Bellhops were a pain to deal with. Only other issues, the walls are thin and the room doors have no hydraulic assist, so they slam extremely loud and it sounds like the rude neighbors that insist on talking in the hall are sitting on the bed next to you.
The Battlehouse is not only a beautiful and historic site; it is a wonderful place for a romantic get-away. The rooms are luxurious, spacious, and quiet. The staff is very accommodating. Night life in downtown Mobile is quite lively. The hotel has 2 bars/restaurants of its own. It now has a spa which we did not have time to visit this trip. We will definitely be back.
The BattleHouse Hotel is excellent for spending time with that special one on a special occasion. I spent my 25th birthday weekend at the BattleHouse. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was security at the front entrance no matter what time of the day it was. Each afternoon they would provide you with the weather forecast for the following day. Each morning the newspaper was waiting when I opened the door. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable that I've ever slept on. I would highly recommend this hotel.
I lived in Mobile at one time and I wasn't a huge fan of the city. But Mobile has really worked to renew its downtown and I think the Battle House is a jewel. Beautifully redone and expanded, rich with history, great views of the port/bay, easy access off the freeway. Spa and fitness center are top notch. Spent a week here on business and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My husband and I stayed July 4th weekend and had a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is absolutly beautiful. The rooms are big, spacious and fabulous. The bathrooms were BIG. The atmospere very regal and refined. If you want an escape from the ordinary this is it. Have Fun!
I booked this hotel for my husband and I, for a two night romantic escape-from-the-kids weekend. I have to say, it was a bit of a let-down. The hotel itself is beautiful. What I did not appreciate: 1) our room was connected (ie, door between ours and another room) and 2) Valet parking only. We did hear a fair amount of noise from our neighbouring room, including kids squealing. The room itself was nice. Not as luxurious as the Monteleone in New Orleans (my all-time favourite 'cushy' hotel) but tastefully done. The beds were very comfortable. We ended up cancelling the second night.
Hotel was great, room was great but valet parking needs some work. We waited for almost 10 minutes for in a line of about 8-10 cars for someone to come check our car in. The next morning we got up and went out, car was waiting when we got down but when we came back to the hotel and checked the car back in we told them we would be leaving back out in a few hours. When we came back down almost 2 hours later our car was still sitting in the same location, directly in front of the doors, and was still running.

I love the friendliest of the staff, the hot tub and the pool. yes, at check out the elevators went out and we were on the 3rd floor however the staff did offer to help us take them down, but I declined.
Great location. Near the campus where my daughter graduated from college. Great and friendly staff. Very helpful and kind. Will stay here again, this is my second time to stay here. Nothing, will probably get a larger room next time. :-}

Breakfast, staff This motel is ghetto. It houses lots of workers and starting at 6am they are talking and yelling and stomping around in their work boots. We also heard a couple fighting so loudly I almost called the police. In the evening there were guys just hanging out in the hallways and at night our room fill with pot smoke from our neighbors...

This place is overall good value for money. The staff were efficient and friendly. The bed was not comfortable, which is a big drawback. Overall, as other reviewers have mentioned, this place is a little less nice than other La Quintas.
They allowed pets The lady charged me too much for my dog and told me about the fee only after I was checked in. There was a mirder next door. The cleaning people shouted daily and woke me up. Don't visit here. Plus the rate was nearly gouging me during a local event. Bad hotel. Bad management. Don't go here.

Just needed a place to stay the night before getting on a cruise. Room was clean, breakfast was okay but if you're an eggs/bacon kinda person there's a Waffle House next door. For what I needed it for you couldn't beat the price.

I loved the staff and the whole look of the hotel. It's in the middle of a gorgeous remodel. It's very old and some things really showed it. While a lot of it was old and classy, some was just old. They are remodeling the whole hotel though into a gorgeous new look. What they have done so far is great.
It was one of the most beautiful and comfortable hotels. It was a little expensive but I'd pay for it over and over again. Staff were nice and helpful. I love everything about this place and I'd recommend to anyone. It has a romantic feel so I'd recommend it for adults
We have been to the Grand many times and always loved it. This time was my first to have some negative experiences. First was the coffee shop, overcharged for my ''cappucino'' which was really a latte and awful at that, undrinkable. Taken off my room bill but the waitress was unpleasant. Next was the restaurant, service slow, food not up to par, very expensive for the quality. Loved the swimming pool but I will think twice before going back. Need to upgrade the food services for this price tag.
This is the second time we stayed at this particular hotel. Although the atmosphere and scenery is excellent, service was lacking. We had major problems at check in, since our stay was a gift from relatives. The staff at the front desk did not seem to want to take the extra time to help us or actually look into our situation and charged the wrong card after we asked them three times to double check which card was billed. Also, the amount that was taken out of my account for drinks at Bucky's Lounge was higher than the amount that I signed for. I know that these things seem small for such a beautiful, luxury hotel, but I feel that luxury means that these situations should not occur, or be handled better when they do occur.
On the positive side, the campus of this resort is beautiful. A lot is invested in landscaping. Also, the beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in at a hotel. The food is good, almost great. The staff is generally polite and helpful.\n\nThere is a lot of negative however. First, food and amenities are very over-priced. I don't mind paying more for those things if they exceptional, but these were not. In addition, my dining exerpience was often impeded by the server pestering me for a method of payment either before or during the meal. I was told it was hotel policy. It is a bad one and I felt insulted every time it happened.\n\nWhile I did not personally experience this, about half of the people that attended the same conference I did went at least two days without hot water for bathing. The hotel did offer restitution (Marriott points, a free breakfast or half of the room charge for one night).\n\nThe campus is sprawling and getting anywhere entails a bit of a walk. However this worked out for me since the highly touted fitness center was closed for remodelling the whole time of my stay.\n\nOverall, my stay was both good and bad, and there was enough bad for me to not recommend experience.
I spent 4 nights in the main building at this resort. Hot water for the shower was limited and roaches were present in the room. Disgusting when they share the bed with you. The service and food was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The room was dated, but clean. The grounds were well kept and the scenic view of Mobile Bay is nice.
Thanksgiving 2007 was may first stay at this resort. The landscape was beautiful. Majority of the staff was helpful and polite, but I did have an issue with a waiter at Buckey's not wanting to serve our table. The female waiter/bartender completely ignored us, pertending to clean the bar and surrounding tables, when the male waiter/bartender came back to the bar, some minutes later, she told him to wait our table. The food at the Lakewood House was wonderful, the best food we had at the hotel. The other dining prices was too expensive for quality and okay taste of the food (i.e. $39.00 for breakfast buffet). The spa was wonderful. The beds were extremely comfortable. The resort supplied many activities. Overall my experience was a good one. I would be happy to return again, but the majority of my meals will be outside the resort.
I reserved a room with a view of the bay. When we arrived I was told the only room they had available for us was great because it had a view of the marina. When we got to the room (which was nice) all it had was an expansive view of the parking lot and the building on the other side. If I stretched I could look around a large tree and catch a glimpse of a couple of masts. A balcony overlooking the water is important to us. I would not have made the reservation had I known we weren't getting what we paid for. A little honesty and an apology would have been appreciated. I don't know if I can recommend The Grand because the trip was spoiled by the way we were treated. We recently stayed at a hotel in San Diego that made us feel as if we they were so very pleased to have us as their guests. It doesn't take much.
I live less than 15 minutes from The Grand Hotel; but when I visit, it feels like I am thousands of miles away! Yes, the prices are high. However, this is either a four or five star resort; and I always find it shocking that people seem shocked that the prices are as they are. This is to be expected! Otherwise, the ''beautiful grounds and landscaping'' which so many people love wouldn't be maintainable, the staff shortened, room service slower, amenities fewer, comfort lessened, etc. I am by no means wealthy at all. In fact, I am a single Mom with three kids who depend solely on me for income and support. This is, in fact, why I do visit this resort! I can drive a few minutes, check in with few bags, stay a SHORT TIME so that I do not blow my budget, and leave feeling refreshed and unstressed by long travel experiences. Even though the cost is high, one may take advantage of our year round pleasant weather and visit during off season, use various discounts such as ''AAA'' or other organizations. Marriott points help a lot, also. One might enjoy staying about two or three nights with a discount, especially if a local to the area or within close distance of the resort, and still come out less expensively than staying at a ''cheaper'' place if you know how to be creative without acting ridiculous and ruining your vacation by trying to save a few pennies here and there. Be pampered and stop whining! I have stayed in this hotel at least 30 times; and love it every time. I budget out $***; and eat room service once a day late morning, then dine out in the evening; which does save money. Try it!
Every one was so nice and willing to acomodate your every need. Price includes free hobie cat, bikes, and kyate. Pool with waterslide great foe kids. You could stay here and not have to leave for anything. Beds were great. Rooms were clean. Some of the help was younger and they were a little less interested in your needs.
Dining was off the top! The room had the most gorgeous panoramic view overlooking Mobile Bay. Flowers were in bloom with the grandest of old oak trees. The music in the lounge was entertaining, and I have never had a better time!! The service was beyond reproach.
We returned from the Grand feeling relaxed,refreshed and eager to go again. The staff (wait staff included) seemed to go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Nothing we asked for seemed too much or a bother. We loved the beds, the spa, the pool,and the wonderful weather. Hope to return real soon.
Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The Inn had off-street parking for a low fee. Restaurants were within easy walking distance. Our room was lovely. Not much of a view but we didn't come to Mobile to look out of a window! Our next door neighbors were very loud way past midnight. People walking up and down the hallways need to be reminded to talk softly. Some visitors are trying to sleep between midnight and 7am. This problem is not unique to Hampton Inn.

Convenience, location, comfort, all wonderful. Breakfast was a bit hectic. The lady who cared for the area was kept very busy replacing items on the breakfast bar and had little time to clean tables or even empty the trash cans.

The room was decent. There were no towels even though I reserved a room for three. We asked for a disabled room but were not accommodated bc our reservation didn't say this. The room was overpriced given it had a dirty comforter. The breakfast was aweful. Powdered eggs, something rubber that meant to lol like bacon, cream cheese that was old our entire family didn't feel well after eating there. The staff was professional, but not nice nor accommodating. Didn't like this at all. I was expecting a lot lote based on the three star rating.
Friendly staff Under renovation. Front door and lobby closed traveling with my daughter and entry to hotel was in the back, dimly lit. Did not feel secure. Nice hotel but not very clean. Noticed floors in the upper floors needed vacuumin. Face towel was not clean but hanging in display as well as hair in the corner behind the bathroom door.
Friendly staff at front desk, but housekeeping was incredibly poor. We pulled bedding off and requested service and upon our 6pm return, the linen was still in a pile on the floor. There were two women on the evening housekeeping shift on 7/21 who worked diligently to remedy the poor housekeeping service. The woman in charge of the breakfast area was really helpful, but our overall visit was poor. We generally stay here twice a year, but after this visit, we will no longer check into the Wingate/Holiday Suites (renamed during our stay)

The breakfast was good and beds were pretty comfortable. The water temperature in the showers was unpredictable. They moved us to another room. I wouldn't let my daughter shower because it scalded me due to huge temperature swings. I also had to clean the floating debris out of the pool before swimming due to it being overfilled, which makes the skimmer not work properly.

Staff was always friendly and helpful. Loved how quiet it was and how we could walk wherever we wanted to go in the historic downtown area. Enjoyed the courtyard for breakfast and just to relax in. Lots of charm and character. We didn't enjoy how high the beds were but once we got up there, they were comfortable. Just wish they provided a step or two to get up on the bed or lower the beds some.

The housekeeping and maintenance staff was friendly and helpful. I was there on a Saturday a week before Mardi Gras. I'm sure that is the busiest time of year for them but when we found our shower didn't drain properly, the maintenance man came right away and fixed it. We did not have to wait. The room was much cleaner than when we stayed at this hotel 2 years ago. Pillows and blankets were comfortable. Convenient location. One out of two washers and dryers was broken.

Price: It was inexpensive. $65ish per night. Cleanliness: it was okay. If there was an okay column I'd put this there. The sink in the bath was clearly pretty new, and It looked like they'd done some other bathroom work recently. But, the shower curtain was a bit mildewed. The floor of the bathroom looked a bit dirty, but I couldn't tell if that was just a poorly done caulk job or if it was just dirty. Staff: They only had one person there. So, no cleaning crew on staff to handle unexpected items. Having said that, the lady that helped me in the morning was GREAT! really personable and smart. The night staff was just okay. Security: the property itself is in an okay neighborhood, but it feels close to sketchy stuff. the layout is more of a motel style as opposed to a hotel with an interior lobby and interior hall ways. In other words, anyone random can come knock on the door without having to pass the front desk at all. Comfort: The bedding felt fine, but my first room had a broken A/C and the second room had an A/C that was in Celsius or something other than fahrenheit.
This was our only alternative as Hurricane Matthew forced people west and all hotels filled up over night. Having read the reviews we were prepared for anything but were pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, clean room, good bed and linen and bathroom. The "wooden" flooring was a welcome change from nasty hotel carpet. We clearly ended up in one of the renovated rooms so make sure to ask for one. The A/C was tired and couldn't be manually set so we had to pull the plug overnight not to freeze to death. The breakfast was a synthetic horror show.

Clean room, brown bag offered since we were leaving before breakfast time. Due to it being New Years Eve, it was louder than usual. Not the hotels fault but since we were traveling with children we were going to up at 4 am.
The staff is fantastic! The assistant manager was constantly checking on us and talking to us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. And it was so clean and constantly put together.

This hotel was like living in the lap of luxury after I moved over from a lesser facility over the weekend. It was clean and convenient. The staff were superb. The facilities had it all, and everything worked. This is where I'll stay next time around, without question.

Quiet room. Never heard any outside noise from the hall or outside the hotel. Nice set up. Centrally located for everything we needed Housekeeping knocked on our door an hour before check out and with it being a suite it took me just a second to get to the door to tell them we were still in there, but before i got to the door she opened it. Thank goodness i was fully clothed. The room was very very humid/muggy. Either semi freezing yet very moist or hot and humid.

For us, not being right at the expressway was great. It was tucked back a little bit but still very close to things. However, the traffic could be difficult. The food at breakfast was awful. Just awful.

I liked the pricing for the use that we gave to the room. We were there to sleep and that is all. At first we walked in and the room gave us a pleasant smell. Walked in a bit further and the carpet was really wet from what I believe was the a/c. Advices them and they fixed the issue. The 2nd issue I really have to say bothered me. We would leave wrappers on the floor and a full trash can to test the cleanliness and came back to find that the bed was the only thing taken care of. And on top of that we had coffee stained pillows and neither of us drink coffee. Fair price for a fair room if you just want to sleep. OMG there was never any ice.
