Very friendly staff, good breakfast, clean room, nice bath Shower head wasn't working too well (friendly staff showed us how to use it, but not a perfect solution), they were also keen to get us out promptly at 10:30am even though housekeeping weren't finished with our room when we arrived about 5pm, minibar not very cold
Proximity and direct access to the beach, and the main walking street. Breakfast variety is great. Pools are nice for the kids. The rooms are tiny, and gets pretty hot (no A/C).
The months of July and August are particularly busy around Lake Balaton, culminating in a National Festival on 20th August. There were many visitors and the long promenade of shops and restaurants were bustling with people. It also coincides with a wine festival-Lake Balaton is very much in wine producing country. The reception and front of house staff didn't have a clue when asked some basic questions e.g. how to log off the internet.Internet time had to be purchased and instructions on line were in Hungarian They either didn't understand English or were not knowledgable enough-could have been young people doing 'summer' jobs.
Peaceful and relaxing, food good only had breakfast but plenty of choice no air conditioning ! would recommend but not for high season to hot!
Good hotel, good service, good price. Everything is OK.
The hair salon was very good No airconditioning, not specified in the web page or any write ups, very uncomfortable.Food was average and very expencive.
The hotel was aceptable for the price we paid. Confortable and clean. Although some of the rooms weren't restaured, they are similar. The only diference is the bathroom. Like in all hotels, restaurants and shops, some of the staf didn't speak a fluent english. We ask for a nife to cut a bithday cake, and the barwomen didn't stop saying 'a cake? for tomorrow?'
Nice hotel with great location close to the Balaton beach in lovely Balatonfüred. A little overpriced though for a somewhat outdated accommodation offer (hotel was buitl 1966-68) and services provided ...
Excellent value for money because it was booked in the off season. all rooms have balcony with opening door and we had lake view and afternoon sun. Large choice at breakfast buffet included in price. The bathroom was very outdated with only a hand held shower over a very high sided bath. Also there was no ventilation in the bathroom. Many bus tours staying overnight so hundreds of people in the restaurant for breakfast at once
location too old
The location is very good. Too expensive compared to the services and comfort
On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner and given our room. After looking at it we asked for a change as the room in the annexe didnt have efficient air con and one of the blinds was missing. We were given another room without any problem in the main building. Our stay was very pleasant and the staff were courteous and helpful. The hotel restaurant was good and a main course that was ordered was not available and two deserts were immediately offered as recompense. We feel that everything was done to ensure we had a good holiday.
Closeness to the lakeside and secure parking. The worst 3 star hotel I have ever stayed at outside of Africa! Most of the staff were at best unhelpful. No lift and no assistance to carry luggage up 3 floors. Beds were sofas and extremely uncomfortable. Sheets were torn and did not cover the bed. A/c was totally inadequate on a Summer's night. Furnishings were worn and dated and in need of total refurbishment. Beams running diagonally from floor to ceiling made the room small and difficult to avoid hitting your head. Curtains did not cover the whole of the windows allowing morning light in. TV was very small and no internet available unless you brought your own laptop.
Very nice area, right on the lake and the hotel is run by a family and they are friendly. Can offer a better breakfast (international)
Close to the waterside. INternet access did not work for us. No elevator.
Location of the hotel was very nice and the signs good. Own beach was nice and very well maintened. Value ok for 3 star hotel and hotel stuff attitude very nice and they tried to serve us as well as they could. We were 4 couples and 3 got first a room without air condition...but was able to change to room.
- Very nice and helpfull staff. - Beach very close to hotel. - Big room. - Renting boat and pedalo included in price. - Bath was dirty. - Water was flowing from hole in the floor while taking shower. - Pedalo was in poor technical condition. We wasn't even able to take boat without external help, as it was not in water, - Breakfast - only the cheapest/most crappy kinds of meat was avaiable. - only non-smoking rooms (no info about that at booking.com)
well situated, good breakfast, kindly staff; The hall of reception and bar could be more decorated,it could be more cosy. For the rates,it's a good price compared with the prices in France, just fair if we consider the rates in hungary
Close to lake with own (grass) beach Air conditioning did not function properly. Sheets were old and mattress seemed like a sofa cushion.
The building and its location is really exceptional, A truely beautiful location on two sides of a squre, with shaded walkways between the hotel and the lakeside In spite of its appearance this is not a four star hotel, no porterage, no room service and the quality of the evening meal was dreadful
The hotel location is great .The staff was really nice and they spoke English well.Good desing in the room .We whis they would have a gym but the spa services made up for it.
We where on or honeymoon in this hotel. We got for free a wine-tasting and a massage, the wine-tasting was more than excellent, we tasted exclusive wines (one of them unique for the great Anna Ball) and was given by the Manager himself... The massage (and all the spa/relax facilities) where very relaxing and more value for money then expected in first.
Good Spa, good food and pleasant atmosphere No
I liked buffet breakfurst, nice-big room, stuff was nice, hotel near centre of the town, fair price, beautifful landscape. becouse it was very hot, (34*C) and the hotel construction (mostly where we stayed) is glass, the inside coridors ware incredible hot. There ware air condition but not soficient.
the location and the whole property is great, the renovation well done and the wellness area is fabulous The staff behaves still like in communist time. You get backside room _ even premium booked- when a seminar takes place. They take the good breakfast buffet at 10 am away without asking, even you can come till 10am! service is not customer oriented at all, evidently no service training
The staff on the swimming pool and leisure facilities. The restaurant is a joke!!! They charged us about 6.000 Forints per person for a ridiculous buffet. The advertisement says: come and try the delicious from our chefs...this is a lie. The breakfast is also very poor.
The location was central This was the starngest hotel I have ever stayed in!!! . . .room 230.....there was a bath but no taps!! The bed was situated so as the door/window wouldnt open, and you could easily reach into the bathroom at the other side. There was no room to acces the bad -from either side. The bed sheet was too small. The television had no English speaking channels. There was an adjoining room with an occasional table and two chairs. . . but nothing else!!! There was only one bedside table. Amazingly the reception staff didnt seem to think any of these issues were worth addressing, and couldnt even manage an apology. 4stars? I dont think so. and at 140 euros it represented very poor value for money. We checked out a day early.
Location and Breakfast Room
The pool area and dining hall, location was great, reception staff were lovely, a really nice hotel. Just a couple of things let it down for us mentioned below The shower door did not close, the shower was loose on the wall. The soap dispensers needed to be filled. The big one was the cleaner. She did not knock and tried to enter our room between 8am on 10am whilst we were in bed, this left us feeling very uncomfortable and we had to put as suitcase and chair against the door. We also had twin beds which I did not expect
Quiet, good breakfast, nice bathroom English speaking personnel
very nice hotel, there is a securised parking and it is not too far from the beach. It's either not too far from the ferry (which is very useful if you want to go to the other side of the lake) and it was one of the rare hotels containing free rooms and located near Balaton.
comfort, pleasent stuff
Good position,relaxed atmosphere,friendly helpful staff
The included breakfast was very good with a variety of meat, cheeses, bread, veggies coffee, tea, juice etc. The staff were very pleasant and free internet access and proximity to Lake Balaton (5 minute walk) were great! One night my room had a very large spider in it, but I think that is due to the fact that rooms in Europe don't have screens on the windows, and so the "wildlife" comes in.
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff
Very good breakfast with nice staff
The positions and listenes. The room is small. Exchange rate is not displayed.
Its location is favorable, it is at the lake, nearby the center. From the Standard Plus room was the view very nice. I departed early in the morning and I got a huge portion "cold pacakage" for breakfast. The staff was very helpful and nice. There was no information that you have to pay for the infrasauna. The bathrobe is not included in the price.
Large suite with nice view. New building, nice breakfast buffet, great location
convenience and friendliness
Very quiet and peaceful and laid back. We enjoyed the spa facilities. No
It has an excellent location right on the Lake Balaton. The Wellness center has very good facilities. The staff is polite and efficient. We will return. No
The staff were very helpful when we asked them questions. The spa was wonderful! It was a very relaxing place to stay and it is a great location for walking around and shopping and close to lots of food choices. There was very little information in English. We had to ask about the spa hours, because they weren't posted anywhere.
Location, pool. The lower priced rooms are probably a much better value. Not happy with the value for the money. The price was just about the most expensive I have stayed for a suite, but other than the size of the room, the furniture was uncomfortable, and the view was just ok. This after a long negotiation with the staff to avoid the initial room they tried to put me in. One or two staff members were a little cold, most were nice. A bit of a language barrier didn't help.
wellness and pool area! The staff is super! They are very friendly!!! the air condition was very very bad! Early in the morning, we couldnt get no rest, because it was very hot in the room. We hadnt got enough soap and shower gel in the bathroom. At the pool area we ask to have towels, but you must take it from the room with you.
no access to the lake, unfriendly receptionists and garage attendants
The hotel was next to the Balaton lake and the price included d,b,b. This last like fitted in with the tour that was planned. Their quote was 39 euro and the final price was 41.50 euro. They couldn't explain the difference. It was still a bargain, so I did not argue the point too much.
The staff was very helpful, and it was ideal for relaxation.
The beach provided shade for my children without being crowded. Relaxing the rooms really are as small as people commented. With two travel beds, we literally could not move in the room
I normally stay in 4 or 5 star hotels but this was the only one available on short notice so I booked it. The staff did an excellent job to make us feel at home, the food was good considering the category, and although a very basic hotel with clear socialist origins they made it feel like home, which is more than many upper class hotels can say. Well done!
It was in the perfect situation, a very short walk from the harbour and lake beach, set in shady woods. The nearby park was also lovely. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful at reception. We had a large balcony at the back, but most balconies were standard size. The hotel was easy to find, and we parked free of charge in a secure area. We also liked the many restaurants and cafes which were a short walk away. We thought the breakfast was below average, compared to many other hotels we have visited. The bedroom was rather plain and a bit too small.
Friendly staff. Terrible selection of juices for breakfast.
